Hey I'm Adrian from Yoke Lore I'm here to answer your questions! Any and all topics accepted!
My current options are a keyboard (no), controller (nah), and a mouse (best option rn) to control the aircraft. How do you use mouse yoke? Thanks!
Also, is there some type of control preset that gives you all the fax keybinds, and nearly all? Thanks again.
Should I get joystick or yoke as a beginner in flight sims? Never played any before. I've seen videos of pro simmers using both. What are the differences?
Can't wait for the release!
Im 14 and my mom doesnt get to have breakfast in the mornings usally and I want to cook my mom her favorite eggs. She doesnt know how to cook them. Any links much appreciated.
Edit:Made the eggs my mom said that the eggs where good.
Never mind she LOVED it
Seems mental to me that there wouldn't be a mouse yoke option?
Always have played fsx with a mouse yoke using ctrl+y, always felt good to me. Trying to find an option for mouse yoke and it just doesn't exist in the settings. Is this a ploy by MS to force people into buying an external controller?
If someone could shed some light please let me know!!
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've noticed this in a few videos I've seen.
For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AUclXBtK1Q (at 16:50)
Lots of aileron and elevator input. I know it's because they have to line everything up perfectly and adjust especially landing in windy weather.
Is it backlash in the controls? Are the controls "linear" in that there's similar deflection of control surfaces with similar yoke input?
Do any modern aircraft use some kind of PID or fly by wire system that could keep that control input more stable?
Pretty cool, just seemed like it would be especially hard to land with all of that constant input.
Been trying to find out for an hour with No luck the game asks me to presse CTRL+C but under the controls there is a big "?"
Hughs rant was maybe the best in the history of the series hahaha he had such balls. Even if he was 100lbs when he got out of the navy
So I'm about to jump back into these games with the new coming out, and I'm curious what controls everyone uses? What's your favorites? I really don't wanna play on a controller lol.
I have never played a sim before and i’m planning to start with the Xbox controller.
From your experience is it really worth it for a newcomer to play with all the equipments at the beginning ?
Thank you all!
I downloaded flight sim thinking that with all the effort put into this they would have at least added the mouse yoke
I am looking to get into flight simulator for the first time and thinking about buying some sort of hardware to spice it up a little. I dont know if I should buy a yoke or a joystick. I dont have any other use of a joystick.
Is this worth paying $170 for? https://www.komplett.no/product/904038/gaming/gaming-utstyr/spillkontrollere/simulator/logitech-g-pro-yoke-flight-system
I am a grown man, but my nephew sometimes come over to play games.
The honeycomb looks a little cheap and whenever I go real deep and look at industrial level gear things get to $2.5k+ real quick.
I am experiencing strange sensitivty with the yokes. In the beginning my physical input is much slower ingame and when I increase the physical input to the max degress the ingame feedback is super fast. Even tho my sensivitiy level is linear in the settings. Any ideas?
Since all other yokes MSFS officially supports were out of stock in local stores I picked up a cheap thrustmaster yoke. Since this yoke is not officialy supported by the sim I had to customize the controller and all commands by myself. The problem is that whenever I turn any plane in any direction and then put the yoke in neutral position the sim believes I keep turning. So while my yoke is neutral the sim thinks I turn. When I turn up and then put the yoke in neutral the sim still thinks I pull the yoke. In X plane 11 this issue doesn't exist. The yoke is a Thrustmaster USB Joystick PC. Does anybody know how to solve it?
MSFS 2020 recognizes my Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and my Throttle Quadrant, but not my CH Products FlightSim Yoke.
I've been trying to make it work but I just can't.
So first off, I'm disappointed that i have to map all the buttons and controls for my older USB yoke and pedals, please tell me I'm missing something. Ok now that I've whined and got that over with. I tried to map some basic controls, could see that they mapped (even though there was a warning not to map the controls idk why) I saved everything and it still doesn't work, nothing. Am I missing something else?
I have been flying with a cheap Logitech joystick and recently got gifted a nice PC, so am going to upgrade from playing on Mac to this PC. I will also be upgrading to flight sim 2020, and wanted to fly yoke. My leftover budget isn’t massive, though so I wanted some recommendations on a good yoke and throttle. Have seen the ones from Saitek and Logitech, but wanted an expert opinion. Thanks!
Hi. Is it possible to use the mouse as yoke like in the FSX?
FS2020 doesn't recognize the yoke, so you have to set up a configuration manually. I'm new to flight sims so I'm not sure how to set this up. For those that have it set up already, would you mind sharing your settings?
EDIT: OK, I managed to get the thing set up, though I'm not sure if my settings are optimal. Most (if not all) of the basics are covered, but I encourage you to experiment and set up a configuration that works best for you.
#A primer on configuring inputs
Go to Controls, then click on the CH ECLIPSE YOKE to select it. At the bottom of the left side pane, you'll see a FILTER section -- make sure that's set to "ALL".
To assign a function to the yoke, find the function you want in the list, then click on the corresponding gray box in the left hand column (this is your primary assignment; the box in the right hand column is a secondary assignment, but you won't use that for your yoke). Then in the dialog box that pops up, click on SEARCH BY INPUT and press the button on... keep reading on reddit ➡
I don't know much about how VR flight simming works. If I decide to create a VR setup, can I still use a yoke? Or is it not practical since you can't see the switches/buttons on your yoke?
I have a Honeycomb Yoke on the way, which is supposed to be very good. But I have no decent way to control throttle/rudders and trim for now. The Honeycomb Throttle is out in november at the earliest, so looking for hardware that might replace that until I can get my hands on it. Need rudder pedals anyway too.
I have several options, some might seem overkill, others I'm not sure if they're any good. Currently considering the following :
(I have a Logitech Xtreme Pro 3D here too, but really dislike the feel and the small throttle on it)
Hope you are also blown away from the new Flightsim, as me and enjoy it!
Maybe here is the best place to ask for advise:
- got my Honeycomb during last week and really like the quality
- searching now for a valid throttle in the lower price-range*, hence I would understand, that many could advise to got for the honeycomb throttle still to be released, but I'm only a casual simmer, who is even not able to remember all the hotkey-bindings on the honeycomb yet ;-)*
- I understood there could be two options: Thrustmaster Airbus or Logitech Saitek Throttle, which looks very plastic-like
Many thanks for any recommendation!
Anyone else having this issue? I have a honeycomb yoke and also a Thrustmaster T-Flight and neither detect on the control page. I've tried swapping plugs around, checking in P3D (which they work fine), and reinstalling the game, all to no avail. Hopefully I'm not the only one with this issue!
I'm thinking about getting the Honeycomb Yoke for the new sim. I'm currently using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with X-Plane 11 but I'm not quite happy with it, as I don't like the resistance of it. Basically every landing is a mess with it.
So my question is, does the Honeycomb Yoke have a better handling and is it worth the price?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Sorry if this has been asked before but MSFS 2020 will be my first flight sim and now that we are 3 weeks away I want to be prepared equipment-wise. What is the best affordable yoke or other equipment for flight sim? Once again im completely new to this so I open to any recommendation. Im willing to spend a but no more than $150 total on equipment
Does anyone know how to enable the mouse yoke like in FSX? I had a nice yoke lines up to buy on OfferUp and the homie sold it to someone else the day I was supposed to pick it up so I’m stuck with a mouse and keyboard for the time being but using my Num pad to steer is like a joke. Super disappointed in this game so far...
EDIT: Should be clear that I’m just having to jump thru hoops I didn’t expect to have to jump thru which is adding to my frustration, I’m disappointed more in my luck I would say...even on ultra for whatever reason the graphics aren’t good, they look like pixelated rubble so I’m not entirely sure why my experience is so tough
There seems to be a huge demand for hotas gear at the moment with MSFS 2020 on the horizon. I just bought the Honeycomb yoke and plan on getting rudder pedals and potentially a throttle quadrant. It seems like the Saiktek Pro rudder pedals are pretty much out of stock everywhere, leaving the CH Products pedals and potentially the thrustmaster pedals as options. Even the CH products pedals are a bit marked up at the moment from what I can gather, which seem like the cheapest and potentially worst option. I don't have any personal experience with rudder pedals so I can't really judge. Anyway, what would y'all recommendations be on getting pedals? Should I just wait until Saiteks are back in stock? I don't want to break the bank on anything incredibly expensive as I'm without a job at the moment but do plan on going to flight school within 2020 hopefully, and was hoping to get a head start on some training and fun on the PC.
Thank you all in advance.
Edit: looking into it even further,... keep reading on reddit ➡
I'm a "newish" user to Flight sim, meaning I played on previous iterations of MSFS, namely 2004 I believe. I will now be playing on the newest iteration of the game (2020). Back then I used a joystick for my PC. This time I will be using a Logitech yoke with throttle, but no rudder equipment. Could anyone help me with a solution to using rudders without equipment while having the yoke? I plan on getting rudder equipment but I just will need a substitute for a month or so.
Thanks in advance!
I've never played flight sim. But I'm building and slowly going to be upgrading a gaming rig. Had no interest in VR initially but it seems like it would be made for flightsim.
Question is how would the controls work in VR? I would want a physical yoke to grab onto for immersion, but I wonder how that would work in VR? The VR hand controllers wouldn't feel right with it.
Anyone know how a VR setup would work?
I'm pretty new to this sub so please disregard if I'm breaking any rules. Like many of you, with MSFS2020 coming soon, I started looking at yokes to really get the full experience. However, I noticed many of the popular models out there are around $200 for a few potentiometers, buttons, and cheap plastic components. With this, I decided to try to create a DIY version using 3D printed parts and an Arduino for serial communication. Altogether, the project will cost $30-$50 to build.
That being said, I'm really new to flight sims and I wanted to get some feedback on button configurations for the wheel--like what kind of buttons do people prefer, how many buttons, any features you wish you had, etc. Reference images would be greatly appreciated!
If you have any other suggestions, please post those as well!
I'm running the Honeycomb SB003011 Alpha Flight Controls Yoke & Switch Panel with Logitech G Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant and Thrustmaster TFRP Rudder. I also have an Xbox One Pro controller I occasionally plugged in.
I am doing further testing but it seems you can't have both plugged in at the same time.
One will usually over-ride the other one and the game will get confused which to use as your primary control method.
The game itself runs fine, I've got my CH Products Flight Yoke hooked up. The game recognizes it.
But when I go into the controls/options and click on the flight yoke, there is nothing listed in the middle section that usually shows you all the keybindings, etc.
All I've found is the sensitivity curves, but no way to actually edit which button does what on the flight yoke.
EDIT: 3 seconds later I figured it out. Apparently the 'filter' is default on 'assigned', so nothing is assigned. I had to hit the arrows to change the filter.
We've got a slew of AMAs happening in the next week, with our first guest that week being Yoke Lore, who joins us this Monday at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET / 11 PM BST!
His new single, "Fade Away", is out now via Yellhouse Records and it's the second bit of new music we've heard from Adrian Galvin following his collaboration with Jax Anderson, "Sensitive Heart." Right now if you want to support Adrian while he's unable to tour, make sure to swing by his merch store to either pick up a physical copy of one of his EPs, shirts, or artwork.
With that said, swing back this Monday for the AMA & follow us on [Tw... keep reading on reddit ➡
I know that I should just buy a joystick or a yoke but I don't have the money right now. I have been using the mouse on FSX and I don't see a reason as to why it wouldn't be supported here.
My question is, is this a bad idea? The bodice would be fitted so I imagine the yoke isn't bearing the full weight of the sweater, but would it still be too delicate? Would it wear more quickly? I don't really see these kinds of designs often in knitting and so I guess I'm wondering if there's a reason for it.
My CH Eclipse yoke shows that it has no axes in fs2020. Any ideas?
It's pretty unflyable with just the number pad...anyone found a setting for mouse yoke
My saitek pro flight yoke elevator axis is borked- only recognized neutral and full deflection. If I push on the yoke, it stays where it is until it jumps to full down elevator.
Anyone had this happen and know how to fix it?
EDIT: Not a sensitivity issue. Changing sensitivity just changes how much I have to push to change from no input to full input. And in the device manager I can see that Wondows recognizes the full range of motion.
I'm playing the game with a normal Xbox One Gamepad at the moment. However, in FSX, controlling the plane with mouse yoke was great as well. In the new game, the gamepad sensitivity is just not right for me, even with adjustments. Is it still possible to use mouse yoke and how do I set it up ingame without 3rd party apps?
