When I started watching AEW about 8months ago, I saw him wrestle and was so focused on the gimmick and the way he looks that for whatever reason, I just completely wrote him off. Between his look, perceived emo gimmick, facepaint, and overly serious nature, at first glance i just didn't take it serious. As I started watching AEW more and more, I started paying attention to him more and more and his wrestling style grew more and more on me.
I'm of the camp that believes moves, holds, and character need to make sense during the course of a match and Darby does this as well or better as many of the best out there today. Everything he does in ring from a moveset standpoint makes sense, his in-ring presence and everything about his character is so well refined that when I am watching him, I rarely find myself saying to myself "well that made no sense..." He has consistently presented himself in the same manner, and seems to truly take THAT seriously, which is something i feel is missing from wrestling in general.
He seems so fully commited to all aspects of his character...from promos, to moves, to facial expressions, to everything...he has really made me a fan and look forward to see how he grows as a character.
From the latest WOR around the 10-minute mark. Dave theorised it was either an honest mistake, or they figured no-one would notice.
I’m going through and watching old TNAs since the death of the Network ended my RA Era rewatch midstream and my god there is so much Jarrett. And I know there’s only more Jarrett to come, even though this is my first time watching TNA’s old programming. I know he was the Booker but I just don’t get it.
I can’t think of another guy who tried and failed to get heat so hard and had such a long reign at the top.
I detest it so much, it's the same as Cody having a 15 minute entrance even when he's not wrestling, it's not interesting, it's not fun, it just seems so self congratulatory
