Woodwind and brasswind

I’m just posting because I’m curious to see if they’re reliable. I ordered a Miguel β€œKaleidoscope Dream” vinyl from them back in early December and it’s supposed to ship on the 25th but I paid them through PayPal and never got a confirmation or anything yet. I still get emails from them weekly though. Has anyone else purchased a record from them before? Is it coming or did I place an order that’s never gonna come??? Let me know!!

Swapping between brass and woodwind

I'm a saxophonist as well as a French Hornist. I have the problem at the moment that I'm far better at saxophone than horn and therefore have to play sax to go and study music as my horn playing isn't quite good enough yet, but I struggle to practice both instruments every day because my saxophone embouchure makes it impossible to play Horn after practicing sax. It's not that I bite down too hard, my bottom lip just doesn't do the flexibility as it should. I spoke with someone who plays trombone and clarinet and sax and he said that he uses his normal brass embouchure to play his woodwind instruments. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, do you have any tips or advice for me? If I didn't need sax for university I'd probably stop playing it altogether but for the moment, I have to stick with it...

Dungeons and Dragons based ska band seeks additional brass, woodwind and strings!

Just to clarify: we play songs about our adventures and dress up like wizards, elves, dwarves, etc. and fight monsters during our live shows. We also really like ska--amongst some other genres!

We are on-boarding a new 2nd trumpet player and are open to teaching new members our music. We practice 2 times a week in West Olive during best of times. Right now we're just working off of sheet music remotely, but are looking forward to opening up to some additional talent! We have 12-15 songs for our first concept album written and relatively well rehearsed and are open to people that want to play written parts OR want to contribute and write their own parts!

Feel free to shoot me a text at (631) 994-9327, let me know what you play and an e-mail for an invite to our slack channel that we coordinate from.

Join the Adventure!

Getting my smoker Saturday (Camp Chef Woodwind 24 WiFi) - Couple questions

Hi folks!

I'm getting my smoker on Saturday and I couldn't be more excited! It's the Camp Chef Woodwind 24 WiFi and for the first smoke, I'm going to do salmon.

I have a favorite recipe - https://honest-food.net/how-to-smoke-salmon-recipe/ and I'm curious how some concepts he talks about work with the smoker. I'm not seeing a lot of instructional videos online, so I figured I'd ask here.

  1. He says that he leaves the smoke on all the time while doing his salmon - is there an option to enable more smoke while keeping temperatures at a specific value? I know on my sister's pellet grill (I think Green Mountain maybe?) there's "P settings" that can be set for smoking - and each setting has a different temperature/smoke amount that you set.Is that the same here or is there some other way to control temperature while allowing a level of smoke to be introduced.
  2. He said he likes keeping his temperature at 140-150 for an hour, then raising it to 175. Does this pellet grill have temperature controls to go that low?Edit: I see it goes as low as 160, that's not a problem, I'll adjust accordingly.
  3. Edit: Can you put a water pan under the bottom grill in this?

I can't wait to get this grill and test it out!

I saw a post similar to this a while ago but I was wondering if this site is a trustable place to buy Records. Woodwinds have so many more excuses :(

Ling Ling: Go practice!

Violinist: takes out instrument, tunes it, preps bow, plays.

Oboist: gets out reeds, sets up instrument stand, puts warm water in reed cup, puts reeds in cup, takes out oboe, warms up instrument, puts instrument together, squeaks reed to see if it’s ready, scrapes reed if necessary, warms up more, checks tuning, tunes orchestra if in rehearsal, plays.

About to buy a pellet grill and trying to figure out why I wouldn't go with the Camp Chef Woodwind. Looking to spend around $1000 and it seems like a no-brainer.
