TL;DR - I microwave my beans for 3 minutes before roasting in the Behmor. It allows me to winnow 50% of the chaff before roasting, hit darker roasts, make less smoke, and it reduces the time spent in the roaster (saving wear-and-tear on the machine). I've prepared a walkthrough.
My brother wanted to get started roasting, so he took the plunge and bought a Behmor that he saw in a store (because it looked like the roaster he's seen at my house). :-) I wanted to help him get started, so I wrote him a guide!
I've been happily roasting in a Behmor for 7 years, and along the way I've developed a technique of my own. I hesitate to call it 'my own', but once I started writing all my steps down on paper - I realized it's become something I haven't really seen anywhere else. I thought others might also find it helpful to see my work, so I tidied it up and I'm bringing it to this community.
If you are on the fence about upgrading to a Behmor, I hope you find this guide encouraging.
If you already have a Behmor and would like to experiment with a technique that helps you reduce your roast times, hit darker roasts, and generate less smoke in the process - I would love for you to give this a try.
Also, I'd really appreciate some feedback, so I've shared my document and made it open to the public for comments, which I will try to incorporate before I eventually lock it down and call it published.

So I have this weird interest in starkly colored elf-like creatures in fantasy. For instance elves or elf-like creatures like The Sithi/Norns in Tad Williams' Osten Ard universe, Anomander Rake in Malaxan by Steven Erikson, Elric by Michael Moorcock , Nonmen by R Scott Bakker, characters in Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons, etc. I just like the visual design of these beings or characters. If you're a comics fan, I've noticed that Jonathan Hickman also has a penchent for these types of beings in East of West, The Black Monday Murders, his Avengers run, and current X-men run. They all seem to have black skin/white hair, or white skin/black hair/white hair.
I've noticed that there may be a character like this in the Winnowing Flame books by Jen Williams. Is this true? What is the characters name and are they (he/she/they) a main character?
Thanks for entertaining this very specific request haha
Our entire party has assumed that the only logical conclusion to people going missing in the swamp is because some are systematically being sacrificed to slime and not because swamps are inherently dangerous or sorcery is afoot. Low insight and intelligence checks from our whole party has only furthered the conspiracy. We are considering topling the local government. Our DM is completely at a loss.
So how's your sessions going?
INFO: I'm a player with no idea whether we are right or wrong, but our DM was trying real hard to get us to change our theory by asking us all to roll during our discussion.

Why can't us yankees get to listen to Jot Davies narrate the Winnowing flame trilogy by Jen Williams on audio?!
Audible has restrictions; is this correct? I don't understand, is this a Brexit related thing or something?
Do they not like earning American dollars or something? ..is there somewhere else that sells it? Is there some industry folk out there that can explain the logistics on this madness? tariffs? wtf! lol.
Can someone please advise? Or even help? please PM me, will do anything...love this series.
ok, thx.
I know theres descriptions on what it sounds like (and an indication that the individual can manipulate the sound/volume of it) but is there any info on what it feels like and/or whether it changes based on skill/energy level?
The Many Masked Being Eleutherios sits upon their throne of blueberry leaves while the widowed cats of midnight stars wind around the handle of the Red Axe. In their Hollow courts the Shadow and the Flame beneath the eyes of the Many Masked Being. The trees fold and twist to hide the celebrations of Man from the Eye of Day for in it's scorn it chars the flowers that drink the blood of Man. The Beast of Clay furrows the soil to drain the blood of Man in spirals upon which whirls the dancers around the throne. The Shadow and the Flame entwined produce The One who soaks the axe in the blood of Man. The Red Axe weeps the nectar of life into the mouths of the Many Masks and drips upon the skin of Man. The dancers spin and fleck the nectar onto the earth that laps it greedily, Eleutherios stands and approaches The One, retrieving the Red Axe. The Axe is buried in The One and the Many Masked Being devours them both while the Shadow and Flame sing their Mourning Song. The trees surround the dancers and entangle them in their arms, the dancers and the trees become one and sway to the Mourning Song. The Many Masks hear the song and weep dark water that washes away the works of the Beast of Clay. The eyes of Man are uncovered and they gaze upon the Many Masks in turn until the Eye of Day's spiteful prying blinds them all and drives Man out of the Hollow. The widowed cats spin their tails into cloth of darkest night to make a shoud upon the Hollow and forever seal away the Eye of Day. The Many Masked Being Eleutherios sits back upon the throne of blueberry leaves and awaits Man's return so they can finish the Hollow Rites.

The Fine Fellows of Eleutherios believe that they are the chosen to find the Many Masked Being's Hollow and begin the rites again to save all of man. In the meantime they seek to spread Eleutherios' tenets to the masses so that one day all mankind might partake in the Hollow Rites, but also to keep them safe from the unseen dangers of the land their city resides on.

Edit: I'm looking at who their supporters will move to rather than any kind of public endorsement. At least not yet.
Wind whispered softly through the slender beeches and stout oaks, their leaves letting little sunlight through, though that which broke came down in beams of golden hue. A road ran through the midst of the forest, dirt churned by long use of wagons wheels and iron-shod hooves. Along the road came riders, more than a score, whose eyes saw little beauty in this bark and moss ridden domain, roving constantly as they were, alert to that which might lurk in these depths that the sun's fingertips did but softly brush.
The few dozen men of the Thronebreakers free company had traveled through a small hamlet and spent the night at a tavern known as The Mossy Stump. Therein didst the bald village septon find them and tell them of the hamlet's plight - how a band of outlaws camped in the Kingswood and did sorely harry the gentle townsfolk, even driving off the Lord Meric Wylde and killing one of his followers. The septon said that if they should find and kill the outlaws, they would have what gratitude the hamlet could provide, but that it would be the Lord Meric Wylde who would be the most grateful. And perhaps, if they managed to best these outlaws, the sellswords would find a place in the retinue of Rainhouse.
And so, this morning, they ventured out to find these vagabonds.
"We should be getting closer now," muttered a Dornishman, who wore sword and maille, though they all wore swords.
"Not enough sand for you, Sand?" remarked a woman with a vicious smile, blonde hair in a tight braid.
"What a cunning jest, Joy. Where does all that wit go when Ashar is around?"
Her smile disappeared into a frown. "Quaint. But you're right. We should be close now. Where's Tom?"
Dagos Sand's lips thinned. "At the rear, he's been in the cup again."
"He-" Joy closed her eyes briefly and took a breath, "ever since that day on the Tall Road he's never been the same."
Dagos snorted. "Have you? Took me two weeks to be able to close my eyes without hearing Dothraki Screamers and smelling smoke."
She looked away. "We should send out Wild Wolf to scout."
"I agree."
Pulling on the reins, she rode back along their small column until she found him, the Qohori forester. He looked up at her and a smile broke out on his features. Nothing about it spoke of kindness or laughter, unless it was the laughter of the chase. A hunter's grin, all teeth.
"Wolf," her lips twitched, "time for you to hunt."
I've winnowed out most of the chaff but what's left is almost as small and light as the seeds so fan winnowing isn't working anymore plus there is a lot of static so pieces are bonding to each other and to the container. I'm planning to make mustard with it so 24 hours hydration and then blending. Should I just leave the small pieces in or is there a more optimal way of removing remaining chaff? Thanks.
Edit: BTW, got 1.5 cups (251 g) of well winnowed seeds from a free sown 5x5.3 ft plot. Now I know why the Afghans grow poppy.
Kind of a weird question, but I honestly have no idea. Would it be completely silent? Have a little "pop"? Or something different?
Hello everyone! I have owned HeXen for a long time but only recently have I begun to play it and enjoy it seriously. I came back to the Winnowing Hall so I could explore / look for secrets. I have to ask veterans. In the large hall, there are two panels that flip to shoot fireballs. I noticed behind them there are switches. What do those do?
