LPT: even if you aren't concerned about security, always latch/lock your doors anyways. Wind gusts can be really strong, and raccoons have thumbs.

I'm in SE michigan, the weather is unseasonably warm and the evenings have been a wonderful 60Β°F lately. For me, that means every window in the house open all day and night!

I have a significant distance between me and my neighbors, and a balcony that looks into some woods. The frogs at night and the birds in the morning are wonderful to relax to. However, I underestimated how good raccoons are at climbing.

Despite having no stairs on my balcony, when I went to get water at 2:30 a.m. last night, a raccoon was curiously exploring my balcony. If he wanted to, he could have simply slid open the screen door and gotten into the house. I know I can't stop them from exploring, but those doors will remain latched at night from now on!

Caitlyn's ultimate is not an execute, and it's fine to use it for poke/ to break banshee's/ edge of night or bait wind wall

Since I'm low silver I get spam pinged every time I use Caitlyn ult to do anything other than finish someone off. Please stop, that's not the only thing the ultimate can do. Caitlyn's ult isn't even an execute, which means that it isn't any stronger on low health enemies, it always does the same damage. In a team fight it will be hard to get enough time to stand still and ult someone, so poking a priority target down with the ult before the fight is not stupid, it's just getting guaranteed damage before the fight instead of risking not being able to get the ult off at all.

PSA: When you play against Singed; build Dorans shield and take Second wind.

This way his Q will deal about 5 DPS when you get low, which means he can basically never kill you. If you are ranged you can take phase rush and he can never catch you so you can play as risky as you want. In either situation he can't punish you.

Now this is probably about the time you will think "why is this singed main telling me this?" Because his winrate will drop into the gutter if the general playerbase actually understood to do this, which would lead to him getting buffed making the games where people do this less fucking miserable.

Finished the Shadow of the Wind by ZafΓ³n last night. Great read.

I stumbled upon the title on a recent thread on this subreddit and bought it on an impulse.

The novel transported me to early 20th century Barcelona and took me on an incredible surrealist adventure through the eyes of the young protagonist, Daniel Sempere.

The story is compelling and well paced. Each discovery adds more flavor, and begets more questions. Daniel's life slowly shaping up to mirror that of his mysterious hero provides the perfect rising arc for the events of the book. The resolution is satisfying, even if a little predictable.

I enjoyed discovering the complex characters moulded by the civil and European wars. FermΓn Romero de Torres, the eternal optimist with a tragic past, exudes warmth and wisdom. Inspector Fumero's beastial nature, the ugly manifestation of shame and anger, invokes dread and disgust. The rise and fall of the Aldayas and the Moliners speaks to the impermanence of wealth.

Many years ago, one of my professors warned me about traversing the treacherous terrains of translation. While I have often wondered what experiencing a Garcia Marquez in Spanish or Camus in French must be like, I am indebted to translators such as Lucia Graves who bring these stories to a global readership while retaining some, if not all of the original magic.

New SEC ruling: ICE Clear Credit LLC; Order Approving Proposed Rule Change Relating to the ICC Recovery Plan and the ICC Wind-Down Plan.

Ok, this may be huge or it may mean nothing depending how you interpret the content of this ruling, so I will go ahead and summarize this because I think it's relevant to GME.

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/05/14/2021-10173/self-regulatory-organizations-ice-clear-credit-llc-order-approving-proposed-rule-change-relating-to

This is a 22 page SEC approval of the proposed changes brought up by ICE Clear Credit LCC (β€œICC”), a covered clearing agency. So what is a Covered clearing agency? It is a registered clearing agency that provides the services of a central counterparty or central securities depository. In order to address counterparty risk, members must provide collateral to ICE Trust [ICE Clear Credit LLC since July 16, 2011] to cover their obligations under cleared CDS (credit derivatives). Members must also make initial and ongoing contributions to a guaranty fund that can be used by ICE Trust in the event of a member default (Forrester et al 2009).

As published on their website, "Financial resources held at the clearing house, including margin and clearing member guaranty funds, total more than $33 billion.

ICE Clear Credit's current margin on deposit is $46,399,000,000. In the event of a default, only the margin of the defaulting clearing participant and defaulting customer may be used for default management. In the event the resources of a defaulting clearing participant are insufficient to cure the default, the below financial resources are available to ICE Clear Credit: Minimum Total Assets available $3,213,000,000".

Back to the SEC approval. ICC was asking the SEC to update and formalize the ICC Recovery Plan and the ICC Wind-Down Plan in case of credit losses, liquidity shortfalls, losses from general business risk, or any other losses in the event that it comes under severe stress. The Recovery Plan discusses the tools that are available to ICC to address a situation where ICC experiences liquidity shortfalls triggered by a default of one or more CPs (Citadel and Co?) and has insufficient liquid resources in the proper currency to meet payments obligations. . The first step of the recover plan starts with the Default Committee, which is responsible for assisting ICC during the execution of certain default management and recovery procedures and

The kid screwed up. He’s been dealt the consequences, let’s not continue the hate and drive this fella into a pit of depression.

Ape no fight ape, right?

We all knew he was a 22 year old kid with limited trading experience. He was transparent about that from the beginning. He went from zero to hero real quick and chances are his ego got the best of him.

Let’s let him leave in peace to learn from his mistakes and continue on our merry way.

Side note: maybe we should consider removing posts bashing him? I don’t believe it looks good on the sub from outsiders to see the blatant and targeted hate... some apes are ruthless, god damn orangoutangs. (Still love ya)

Just my two cents, as always, hodling til my hands seize shut.

Edit: added some love.

Potential fixed match alert NA DPC: Felt vs Wind and Rain

Posting this for public notice but it's a really interesting game that's going to be happening judging by the oddshifts. It's a pretty well known fact that these russian mixes have been matchfixing with NA stacks for a very long time, and while you'd have to be completely and utterly stupid to get caught like the xuan stack back last year (triple plug pull), the odds shift for the Wind and Rain vs Felt is extremely interesting to note and is almost 100% going to be a matchfix unless they get scared and forfeit when called out in public.

Odds last night: https://i.gyazo.com/f09deaf20e2a80d3e4693b86d27d9e9a.png (1.2 for wind and rain, 3.3 for felt if you're too lazy to click)

Odds right now (just got taken down by the bet site): https://i.gyazo.com/40565653572d0d98d23511b065e43def.png (4.3 for wind and rain, 1.2 for felt)

This also happened in the Felt vs Eboys game yesterday, but seeing as I don't know as much about the Eboys team to call them out while Wind and Rain is basically an entire team of extremely well known match fixers (sword/satesate/madara/szabo), it's pretty obvious what will happen here unless they get cold feet from a post like this getting upvoted. This kind of odd shift - never - happens in legitimate games.
