As a hygienist I've been noticing more and more people wanting to do whitening or trying to do whitening on their own and not having any success. Thought I'd share some tips on how to effectively and safely get your teeth ready for some post-mask smiling - i hope 🤞this is sooner than later.
Start with a healthy oral foundation
Like your skin, you want your teeth to have a healthy foundation. Make sure your biofilm management game (aka cleaning) is top-notch. If you clean your teeth thoroughly at home, it helps keep you gums healthy (and nice looking) and your enamel strong. Start with the right brushing and flossing techniques with products that are great for your mouth.
You might start to see a whiter smile after a few weeks because the inside of our teeth is yellow and when enamel wears down, the inside starts to show.
Stay away from this ....
Whatever you do, DON'T USE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE. It's actually incredible abrasive because it's trying to scrub off stains. What it ends up doing is scrubbing down your enamel and actually weakens your enamel which leads to discoloration.
Find out how your teeth react to whitening
Everybody's teeth react differently to whitening products. Sometimes strips are all you need, for others you might need trays from your dentist. Here's what I recommend for how you can test how your teeth react:
Go forth and whiten!
Now you can take the appropriate next step to whiten your teeth! Whether you can go buy more white strips, or need to set up an appointment with your dentist.
My aligners have been ordered and I should be starting my treatment within 3 weeks!
As I'm getting attachments, I won't be able to whiten my teeth during my treatment (which will be about 1.5 - 2 years long).
I'm a very self-conscious person - I'm very worried about the trays staining, or the Invisalign treatment making my teeth yellow for some reason. So, I thought I'd whiten my teeth before my treatment starts with a high-reputation home whitening kit.
Is this ok? Can anyone think of any downsides to this? If anyone else did the same before they started treatment, please let me know - I just really want my teeth to look as good as possible during my treatment!
Thanks, take care all.
Please help! 🦷💖
I have these Grey sheets with white flowers and leaves. Over time, the flowers are lackluster and kinda Grey, yellow, off white. How do I whiten if I can't use bleach on the Grey? I thought about maybe vinegar? Or maybe baking soda?
I recently acquired a 1981 casiotone 202 keyboard. It's in great shape, sound is still great. However, the keys have yellowed significantly. I plan on taking it apart, dusting out and cleaning the interior. While I'm at that, I'm going to try and whiten the keys again. Does anyone have good tips or know a guide to whiten plastic piano/keyboard keys?
I’m just wondering if it’s as bad as people say.
Hi everyone, I'm getting so much conflicting information regarding this subject. Has anyone used the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to whiten their teeth? If so, what were your results if any? I've not used it, and I want to have as much information before I consider it.
Would soaking a small (think deer skull-sized) skull that's been flensed pretty well in lye for a few days, and then bleach for a few more sufficiently clean and whiten it to be mounted? It's not like a full-on display piece, it's to be mounted on my character's armour.
Additionally, would there be any chemicals (medieval sort of times) that they could use to preserve it?
I had already asked this, but it was very late and barely got like 2 responses.
I really want to have my arms and hands look the way they did when I was a kid/teenager.
My face tone is very light/white, and so is the rest of my body, except my arms and hands. They definitely look darker because of sun. I never cared before for sunscreen only on my face to prevent acne, but never cared much about my arms.
I’m exfoliating daily with a body wash with beads, with SA. Using Cerave SA lotion (Night)s) and also Palmers Cocoa Butter Body Lotion (Morning) , Vitamin C Serum (I usually combine it with Palmers lotion. And of course I use a lot of sunscreen before going our at least SFP 50.
I’ve seen these YouTube videos like applying plain yogurt with coffee for 15 minutes, but not sure it will work.

I have experimented with Brimonidine. Including some that is a stronger concentration for glaucoma.
