My (26F) boyfriend (27M) ran off in the middle of the night with our newborn son (2 weeks M)

First time posting, on mobile. Sorry this is long.

As title says, we have a newborn son who is two weeks old. To recap the period leading up to this event:

We had the baby on a Thursday and came home on Saturday. Roses. Everything was absolutely beautiful. Our relationship had never been stronger and we were so so happy. More in love with each other and with the little one then we thought possible. On Sunday we decided to pop a bottle of champagne. We both haven’t drank for 9 months. I have one glass and he continues saying β€œwe can get drunk now!” I didn’t want to get drunk but did not discourage him since we hadn’t drank in months (we used to drink together nightly). He ended up quite belligerent by the end of the night and it resulted in tears on my end since he was acting out of character. The next morning he sincerely apologized and said that if he ever got drunk like that again, he would stop drinking. That evening rolls around and we have a glass of wine with dinner. I did not

We're now in 9 straight weeks of record unemployment numbers, and more than 38 million Americans have lost their jobs in that time. We are POLITICO reporters and an economist – ask us anything about the economy and current federal policy amid Covid-19.

The economic impact of the pandemic is staggering. The latest numbers on unemployment claims came out this morning: 2.4 million workers filed for unemployment last week, which means 38.6 million Americans – about 23.4% of the workforce – have lost their jobs over the last 9 weeks as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the economy.

(For some context, in normal times, the number of weekly unemployment claims usually hover around a couple hundred thousand.)

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned last weekend that U.S. unemployment could reach a Depression-level 25%. Thousands of small businesses are closed and many will remain shut for good after losing all their revenue. The stock market bottomed out in March but has recovered somewhat since then and is now down about 15% from its pre-virus h

As of this week, every game Bethesda announced at E3 2018 has failed or turned to shit, except the ones they haven't released.
  • Quake Champions' early access period was a confusing disaster. A free to play game, but you have to pay for it? By the time the game actually launched it was DOA. At least there's bots to play against now, until they shut down the servers.

  • Elder Scrolls Blades flopped. The PC and console versions were cancelled entirely. Does anybody even know what this was supposed to be?

  • Wolfenstein Youngblood flopped. Despite having all the ingredients for something awesome, the insane level of microtransactions and incredibly annoying protagonists seemed to kill the game before it had a chance. Great RTX demo though.

  • Fallout 76.

  • Rage 2 flopped. Unfortunately this is probably the least exciting flop of them all. It was just one very confusing design decision after another, a genuinely decent shooter designed to maximize the time spent doing anything other than shooting.

  • And now... Doom Eternal, which was actually pretty good! But then they fired Mick Gordon,

The last time I remember it being so dangerous to question the dogma of the day was the weeks and months after 9/11

I'm slightly older than most here having immigrated to the US shortly before 9/11 and I vividly remember how things were at the time. I imagine many are too young to remember it well.

There were two big things that occurred after 9/11 that I am now seeing as well:

  1. You're either with us or against us
  2. A reaction that is going to kill more people than the initial inciting event

You're either with us or against us

Bush said it shortly after 9/11 and it was pretty clear. Anyone who said we might be overreacting or that we should be measured in our approach was a coward who hated America. Nuance was out the window and people were searching for ways to be offended. Bill Maher was fired for what were pretty benign remarks. The outrage was less online because social media didn't exist but it was very clear you weren't to deviate from the norm or you were going to be ostracized.

The same is true now. A UCLA professor said he wouldn't provide special accommodations to black

This literally just happened she's demanding my girlfriend delete any picture of her time sheets, which shes been taking for a good year now, she obviously doesn't keep them, she takes the pictures because her boss will cheap her out of hours sometimes, and takes these pictures as proof of the hours she works. I personally think the boss is just saying this to continue to try and cheap her out of hours

Edit: To clarify, theres nobody else's information in the pictures, she only takes a picture of hers. Other people who work at her job also take pictures of their timesheets but I'm unsure if they got the same excuse yet.

Edit 2: My gal just got a message from her coworker stating the boss just came to her and started an argument over the same thing. I think it might be game time

Edit 3: Just woke up to this post exploding, my girlfriend doesn't work again until tomorrow, we're conversing with the other coworkers the boss comes to with this shit, and trying to come at her boss with nu

Culture War Roundup for the Week of June 01, 2020

To maintain consistency with the old subreddit, we are trying to corral all heavily culture war posts into one weekly roundup post. 'Culture war' is vaguely defined, but it basically means controversial issues that fall along set tribal lines. Arguments over culture war issues generate a lot of heat and little light, and few deeply entrenched people change their minds regardless of the quality of opposing arguments.

A number of widely read community readings deal with Culture War, either by voicing opinions directly or by analysing the state of the discussion more broadly. Optimistically, we might agree that being nice really is worth your time, and so is engaging with people you disagree with.

More pessimistically, however, there are a number of dynamics that can lead discussions on Culture War topics to contain more he

So...just to be clear... It's weekly reset day. It's the last week of the season and all we're getting is a cutscene?

I understand Bungie is waiting to tell us about the theme for next season, but we're all waiting for some closure to this season's Almighty storyline and we get no new questline? Unless I'm missing something there's absolutely no reason to log in this week?

I am a doctor and 4.5 years ago, I was sexually assaulted in the hospital by another doctor. I was retaliated against by USC and leaders of Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. This week, the medical board of CA, revoked the rapist’s license.

For too long, women, and other victims of sexual assault and harassment have been intimidated, silenced and retaliated against for speaking out. As a medical trainee, I was forced to work in a hostile work environment because I asked for a separate schedule from the guy who assaulted me. I was harassed, ignored and even kicked out of meetings. The assaulter is the half brother of a leader in the same cardiology department. This is a victory for me and the other female physicians who testified. I hope they never give him his license again.

"The administrative law judge, Thomas Heller, concluded that Zareh β€œproved by clear and convincing evidence” that Cortes assaulted her, but he was unconvinced about the other two accusations. Still, Heller believed Zareh’s assault warranted barring Cortes from ever practicing medicine in California."

people who don't know female dogs exist - Been told for the third time this week to pick up after my dog when she only pissed

After being told "she only wee'd" two of them said again to pick it up, at which point I can only awkwardly say something about piss being a liquid and they just look disgusted and go back to what they were doing.

I have no idea if they think I left dog shit there or not, and I end up feeling out of sorts for ages when they're the ones who don't know basic bodily functions.
