TIL Lighthouses had different techniques for rotating the light, most being too slow, making the light less visible. Augustin Fresnel proposed a mercury flotation system in 1825. Despite some lenses weighing over 6,000 lbs. the design reduced friction, increased rotation, and ultimately saved lives.

TIL the human body literally glows, emitting a visible light in extremely small quantities at levels that rise and fall with the day, scientists now reveal. Past research has shown that the body emits visible light, 1,000 times less intense than the levels to which our naked eyes are sensitive.

Beyond invisibility: multiple research groups have made metamaterials that work in the infrared; some are skirting the fringe of the visible portion of the spectrum. A group in Germany has created a thermal cloak, preventing an area from heating β just as an invisibility cloak bends light.

Can a super-efficient incandescent light-bulb be created by coating it with infra and UV reflective coating, that lets out only visible light.
The idea is that IR and UV is reflected back on the filament, so only useful light can escape.

Is it posible to have two invisible light beams combine and form a visible spot on the wall? (to the naked human eye at least)
Hello guys,
Let me try to be more clear on my question. With invisible light beam i mean a light with a waveform not in the visible spectrum of human eyes, could be infrared or ultraviolet not dangerous to us, but when combined with other light beam that has a slightly different waveform make a visible spot in a wall or in a surface they hit.
One light by itself of course wont be visible to us. But is there any combination of short/long wavelenght lights that when combined become visible to the human eye? If you guys imagine it as laser lights it might make more sense.
I made a crappy drawing but it might help me explain more.

Quick question about visible distances for light sources
So I'm a long time player of the mod, and I'm just starting to get back into the standalone now because it seems to be in a much better place. I've been playing on the first person official servers and holy crap the nights are dark.
In the mod flashlights and flares could be seen from basically an infinite distance but chemlights and the red tactical torch couldn't be seen past a certain distance (I think it was like 55m or something). Are there similar limits visual limits for light sources on the standalone or am I lighting myself up like an xmas tree every time I use a chemlight?
