Want to die a white viscose shirt not sure on the best way of doing it

Simple enough, I've got a white viscose shirt that I'd like to dye red but I've never dyed anything before and I'm not necessarily sure the of the best method.

The Dylon pods seem popular and they're obviously really easy, but I don't know how they stack up to doing it the standard way and they kind of seem too good to be true.

The alternative seems to be doing it with like the procion mx dyes, but then it's a lot more effort and cost. The extra things (e.g. soda ash) aren't too expensive alone, but I'm only dyeing one shirt and they don't seem to be sold in one shirt quantities so the final price is like 3-4 times just buying the dye pod once I've bought everything. There's also an extra wrinkle in that there seem to be a few different possible methods for dyeing clothes this way, or at least variations on similar methods, so I'd have to figure that out too.

Essentially, I feel the pod makes more sense but I can't help shake the feeling doing it the long way will give me better res

Tips for pressing poly-viscose?

I’m working on a project with a fabric that’s 85% β€œviscose” and 15% polyester. It also has a crinkled texture. When I tried a cool iron on a scrap, it didn’t seem to press well, but I’m afraid a higher heat might damage the fabric or smooth the crinkling too much. How should I go about pressing the seams for this project? Is steam safe to use even though it’s viscose?

Good online source for rayon or viscose shirt fabric?

Hi everyone! I’m dead set on making a shirt like the one found here. I’m very much a beginner, so it’s pretty nerve racking ordering fabrics online and not knowing what it will look/feel like in person. Does anyone know a good online store to purchase good, non-sheer, and minimal stretch 100% viscose at a reasonable price? Thank you :)

General bra/underwear/undergarment tips for clingy rib/viscose dresses?

Any sort of jersey/rib/viscose dress or top where you can totally see the outlines of a normal bra and panty? In general, what sort of undergarments do you pick for these types of dresses or tops? do you put a shape wear or smoothing piece underneath? Would love to see how other women deal with this.

Caring of viscose shirts

Hey!

I bought some viscose shirts in the last couple of weeks and I had to realize that they shrink a LOT. I followed the instructions and only washed them at 30Β°C but even then the shirts shrink significantly.

One of the shirts is from H&M, it is 40% viscose and 60% cotton, size M, which fit me slim, but it was not restricting my movement and after the first wash cycle it shrink roughly 10 cm in diameter around my waist, so now I can barely button it up. Thankfully H&M will refund me for this one, but I bought an other pair to test it with cold water.

The other shirts are from Mango, they are pure viscose, size M as well, but they fit really loose. Problem is even worse: after a handwash cycle in lukewarm water, and not only did the shirt shrink roughly 10 cm in diameter, 5 cm in length (this is not really a problem, still plenty long) but the two sides of the collar shrink differently, so now it is damn near impossible to make it look good. Although I can still button this

What do you think about Spinnova? A potential future? Or another failed bamboo-viscose greenwash?

So i saw an article on NRK (Norwegian BBC) about a new Finnish patent that can make a more sustainable garments from wood.

Here's another article about it in English

Apparently they are able to brake the tree's material down without the dangerous toxins they use to brake down, let's say bamboo viscose.

It looks promising in that it's an actual environmental way to do so with so far as I see not yet any too big draw back, but in the nrk article it also stood that if they cut down all of Finland's woods to transform, they'll only be able make around 10% of the world's garments consumption. Also, they never said anything about how will fibers of these work against the cold? Sweat? Etc.

What do you guys think?

Navy Blue Pants - Can I fix by dying: 56% Viscose and 44% Lyocell

Pair of navy blue pants I bought abroad: 56% Viscose 44% Lyocell. I hand washed them in cold with Biokleen. They lost noticeable color, and something mysteriously bleached out the color in 2 spots.

I tried an online suggestion of coloring in the spots with a Navy Blue Sharpie but it looks bad, the sharpie is darker than the pants now.

Any way to salvage? Washing instructions: 30 degrees. So I don't think I can boil the pants with RIT dye, too hot, yes? Would Jacquard Procion MX Fiber Reactive Cold Water Dye work? No idea.

I would like to restore these pants, no waste, I loved them.

Hello everyone! I have a question about dying a polyester/viscose blend tank top...

I’m wanting to tie dye a shirt that is 65% polyester and 35% viscose. I do have a box kit that’s supposed to work for cotton and other natural fabrics. I’ve read that synthetic fabrics don’t take color as well as natural ones when it comes to tie dye. What I’m wondering is if it will take color at all. I don’t mind if the colors come out more pastel-like instead of being supper vibrant.

So, will this blend of fabric take tie dye lightly? Or will it just not absorb any color?
