In many ways, I think this was an inevitable conclusion of the internet and progression of technology. It is now impossible for the average person to know "the truth" about anything. As "deepfake" style videos continue to become more and more believable, I think we are quickly approach -- or may have already arrived -- to a point in which nothing you believe about anything holds any sort of validity.
"Video evidence" is becoming increasingly dubious, it is incredibly easy for different news sources to spin up competing narratives on political or social events, and there is really no way for an average person to discern a difference.
In essence, this will have set us back by 500 years. No longer can you trust anything you read, hear, or even witness video footage of. Now, unless you see things happen with your own eyes, your entire reality can be shaped by a handful of new organizations.
It's honestly pretty scary to think about.
Today a statue of Edward Colston was torn down by protestors because of his involvement in the slave trade. See - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52954305
The reason he had a statue is due to his philanthropy and historical importance to Bristol. Wording from the plaque on his statue:"Edward Colston (1636–1721), MP for Bristol (1710–1713), was one of this city's greatest benefactors. He supported and endowed schools, almshouses, hospitals and churches in Bristol, London and elsewhere."
More info - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Colston
I understand why people are angry and I don't think we should be celebrating bad aspects of the past. Slavery is wrong! However, we shouldn't hide from the past either and I don't think people are wholly good or bad. I think the best way to judge someone is by the context they lived in.
No argument about right or wrong would be complete without mentioning... keep reading on reddit ➡
I am a transgender man. I am nineteen. I am an idiot on the internet with literally NOTHING to offer the world. I work full time, I’m not going to college, I’m a food service worker. I am politically centre.
I offer nothing, and yet the shithole that is twitter tells me I am better than people, that I am better than other men because I wasn’t born one.
“You’re trans therefore you get oppression points and we like you.” “You’re trans, if someone says something to disagree with you they’re transphobic!”
No!!!! I hate that people speak like this. I’ve seen it to much. I’m not better because I experience gender dysphoria. I’m not better because of a fuck up in my biology or my brain or whatever the Fuck it is that made me like this.
I’m a human person. I am a human person with nothing to offer such a big fucking world
Don’t belittle others just to bring other people up. Doing that doesn’t create equality.
This has been bothering me for so long.
People’s livelihoods are being destroyed in the midst of a riot. A small family-owned restaurant was burned down in my city. These are people who came to America for a better life. There was so much time and effort and money that went into building their dream and passion all to be burned down in one night. Is it wrong that I have sympathy for them? Sympathy for a family/business that was already suffering from a pandemic and now this. Instead, I’m being told that I value property more than life. Their one source of income is gone. And I hate that people tell me, “well it’s rEpLaCeAbLe.” No it’s fucking not. Several places were already closing down because of the pandemic by itself. What makes you think this is something that can be built back up right away? I feel so heartbroken for this family and many others whose businesses were broken into and looted. There are many who can’t reopen. More jobs are now gone. It’s not as easy as you think.
I believe in protests. Black lives do matt... keep reading on reddit ➡
This happened a while back. My wife and I still talk about it every once in a while. She's on my side and most of our friends and family are. However when it happened it was like WW3 between us and her co-workers and others.
Here we go...I've been playing the guitar for 22 years. I know guitar values and whatnot very well. I'm very into the guitar market. At my wife's old company she was hanging out with co-workers one day after work and she mentioned that I play guitar. A co-worker who I guess is very popular at work said that his dad passed away and he was selling his dads things. His dad had a guitar and asked my wife if I'd be interested in it. My wife texted me and I said to have him send me the info on the guitar and the price. The next day he texted me the pics and price. It was a 1952 Telecaster in mint condition. He had the original receipts which was crazy! (That's how I knew the date). I asked what he wanted for it and he said he "looked up Telecasters online and he thinks... keep reading on reddit ➡
That's my two cents.
This post is referencing the US. While I think that many populations and communities are marginalized and not aware of the resources that are available to them (if there are), we need to realign ourselves with a balance between the two for a healthy existence.
Many people are stressed out, barely able to make ends meet, drowning in debt, are overworked & underpaid, expected to know everything, ruled by a government that only cares for the rich, etc. Why would a life be worth living if the society you’re in constantly drags you into the ground?
Edit for context: I’ve suffered from depression and am a survivor from suicide
Edit 2: title is poor wording, I do think that mental health resources are important, I just think that targeting the source of the problem for many would be a better step. Those with mental issues caused by genetics or hormones should absolutely have access to resources.

Level advantage being good was always something that I knew (it's obvious), but I found a post from 3 years ago on /r/leagueoflegends that confirms that the average value of gold per level is 584. Link here.
I spoke to a few friends before posting this and all of them were surprised by how high the amount was (hence the post here). This is something super important to keep in mind in terms of gauging how much damage champions can do to you, and also shows how nice that sweet sweet solo side-lane farm is in the midgame!
Spoiler season has barely started, but the reprint value in this set is already amazing. This set does so much work for commander and I truly do appreciate WotC going all out and reprinting some huge heavy hitting $$$ pieces, and on top of that, the new pieces look amazing to!
As far as I am aware, already on the list we are seeing things like [[grim tutor]], [[massacre wurm]], [[ugin, the spirit dragon]], [[Azusa, lost but seeking]] and [[baneslayer angel]].
I am already incredibly hyped, the only thing that i would want to see to go towards lowering the cost of entry is a strong land cycle.
For me, the cost of playing magic is an important topic. I am someone who for a long time when I started playing used proxies to fill out my decks because my friends had been playing for a while before me and had large collections and powerful decks. At the time, the options for me felt like proxy up or don't play at all. I wanted to be involved, but I didn't want to tell th... keep reading on reddit ➡
Over the past few months there have been a lot of discussions on this site about the recent proliferation of commanders that are powerful value engines such as [[Chulane]], [[Korvold]], [[Urza, lord high artificer]]. [[Yarok]] etc...
Most of these commanders enable players to draw a lot of cards and ramp uncontrollably. These commanders take advantage of the social contract in EDH where MLD and stax cards like [[winter orb]] are soft banned by many playgroups. In response to many people playing these kind of commanders, I have found myself systematically adding more and more one-sided hate cards (or what I like to call Stax-Lite) into many of my decks. I have been consistently impressed by how effective this strategy is to the extent that I have been cutting down on my removal slots to find place for them in my decks.
Here are my opinions about the best options that I know of:

Drugs, for example: just let whoever wants to get high get high, simply don't use them yourself and if You have kids let them know your views and thats it, you're not protecting the youth
Abortion: asuming You think it's sinfull or something just let everyone "carry their own cross" and be happy not aborting and thinking You'll be rewarded for your moral high ground
Seriously why do people care so much about others actions?

You can eat other stuff, but in regards to vegetables, you can only eat 5 different types of veggies for the rest of your life.
The goal would be to try and get as much nutritional value/variety from a mix of 5 types of vegetables
I was up +4000$ on BBRW, held, now at +500. I was up +500$ on SOLO, held, now at +100. I was up +1300$ on XSPA, held, now at -30. I was up +300$ on DGLY, held, now at +50. These are just some of the ones that I remember because they’re fresh. Similar scenarios happened with other stocks of mine like CLSN. I know the same also happened with people who held GNUS (I didn’t have any GNUS shares myself).
Had I sold, that’s a net profit of +5000$ give or take. Granted, I will probably recover some of it in the long run. But I think it’s still important to take profits along the way, and reinvest those to grow the account even more. I could’ve used the extra 5000$ or even an extra 2000$ to buy some oil stocks or a little bit more DGLY. Instead, I sat out this week due to having my disposable buying power tied up in stocks.
Penny stocks are volatile. If you’re up +400$, consider taking 200$ profit out. It might go up to +600$. But who cares? The 200$ you took out is a 200$ you didn’t have... keep reading on reddit ➡
> Elon Musk tweeted a complaint about Tesla’s share price that wiped $14bn off the company’s stock market value on Friday morning.
Tesla did not immediately confirm whether Mr Musk’s tweet had been given legal clearance, and did not respond to a question about whether the company currently has a general counsel. Tesla lost three general counsels last year, one of them quitting after only two months. The Tesla boss, who has 33m followers on Twitter, issued his curt verdict on his company’s shares early in the morning in California on Friday, writing: “Tesla stock price is too high imo.”
Within moments the Tesla share price started sinking, dropping 10 per cent over the course of an hour before recovering slightly. The sharp move comes in what has been a hugely volatile period for Tesla’s shares. They slumped more than 60 per cent after coronavirus hit, but then rebounded by 120 per cent.
My roommate (37M) often drinks my beer, so I didn't think he would mind if I polished off a nearly empty bottle of whiskey of his. I kept the empty bottle as a reminder to replace it.
The next day my roommate found the empty bottle. He was devastated. Turns out he had shared the bottle with a friend shortly before said friend passed away. I was mortified and apologized with all my heart. He didn't say much in response beyond "yeah, the whiskey really meant a lot to me." He was silent for the rest of the evening.
The empty bottle remains in the living room as a constant reminder of the mistake I made.
I'm at a loss as to how to make it up to him. Any ideas?
Looks like Omen had a lot of good tuning, but the implementation has caused big Quality of Life issues. His new smoke targeting is great before a set push, but terrible in the heat of battle. Omen was like Batman where he could pop a smoke at his feet or 10 feet away and tele to it, but this gameplay is hindered by the new system.
I know you can press reload to retrieve the old system, but that just weighs down the process. The smoke should default to the old system first and allow you to hit reload for the enhanced targeting system...low fidelity to high fidelity...same concept as scoping with the Op.
The other issue is it saves your last preference used. Omen can get 4 or more smokes off in a round, and have various uses for them, it doesn’t make sense that when he goes to toss a quick cover smoke (his advantage over Brim as he can play in them), he has to contend with whichever targeting system he last used.
My company does a game every year to guess the stock value of our company, here are the hints they give along with the values in previous years, I thought it’d fun to put my guess this year into the hands of reddit.
Guess the Stock Value
Hint #1-In the last 12 years the share price has never decreased by more than -9.27% (or about $-3.53/share).
Hint #2-In the last 15 years (13/15 times) when adjusted net income went up/down so did the share price. In 2019 Adjusted Net Income went up.
Hint #3-In the last 10 years, when compared to prior year's Revenues (Sales), the share price followed the increase or decrease 50% of the time. Last year revenues increased.
Hint #4- U.S. consumer spending on services, an indicator of telecommunications services sales, rose by 2.2% in October 2019 compared to the same month in 2018. U.S. corporate profits, an indicator of corporate demand for telecommunication services, declined by .8% in the third quarter of 2019 from the year-earlier figure. Tot... keep reading on reddit ➡
"Also Invoke Prejudice is a card that is just an embarrassment and should have been symbolically banned a long time ago rather than just ignored and left to fester. The Multiverse ID seems like a terrible coincidence but that card (and the artist) are just shameful."
Given the context of current events, I would not be surprised to see Wizards attempt to ban Invoke Prejudice. This is not just a random person on Twitter calling for Invoke Prejudice to be banned. This is coming from BDM. He actually has a lot of influence with Wizards.
The card is unbelievably obscure, and most people don't know it exists. The very high price, on the RL, and costing quad U all contribute to it seeing little play. It's too slow for cEDH, and too dickish for casual tables.
So if Wizards did actually ban the card, I could see a Streisand effect happening with it. Everyone would be looking up the card, and you can bet there would be people try... keep reading on reddit ➡
Warning: Wall of text, lots of stats and numbers. TL;DR at bottom.
Most of you probably saw this post the other day.
The guy who made it didn't comment on it with any info about how he extrapolated that data, or what meant what, but curious nonetheless, I went on a crusade to find out more. I should point out that everything from here on in is centred around Ground RB.
Also, you can go see the Air RB version now!
First, I created a god-awfully messy python scraper, which I repurposed from an old script I was using to parse some of the datamine files. I won't post it here but if you're interested PM me. It basically pulled all the Thunderskill monthly stats as current on 22/05/2020 (or the 21st for you guys living in the past). Then I imported... keep reading on reddit ➡
Something that can last me 1+ years. Should be games I can get on Steam only.
Below are genres/games I already played/not interested in. Won’t be listing all the games I played, just the more recent ones.
*MMOs ( I already play ESO, one mmo is enough)
*MOBAs (cannot get into them)
*Rocket League/RDR2/Paladins (already played)
*Factorio (tried the demo, couldn’t get into.)
*Looter shooters (Tried Borderlands. Played Destiny 2 a lot but stopped a few months ago b/c I didn’t like the state the game is in)
*Warframe (one of my most played games, I stopped recently.)
*Civ 6 (downloaded it when it was free on EGS. couldn’t make it through the tutorial. Too complicated. Game made me feel stupid.)
Edit: Dead by Daylight/ Deep Rock Galactic (some of the few co-op/ multiplayer games I enjoy playing).
So, any recommendations?
Edit1: Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions. I decided to get Monster Hunter World. It’s been on my wishlist for a long time, I’ve... keep reading on reddit ➡
If you've lived within your means, planned accordingly, and produced things of value for society, the current American system doesn't give a shit about you.
If you built crappy cars, and paid unions too much. Bailout!
If you issued stupid debt, and partook in extremely risky financial practices. Bailout!
If you built planes which nosedive into the ground. Bailout!
If your small or medium sized business produced so little value, or was so poorly managed it can't even survive a month with diminished revenue, even after years of above average economic activity. Bailout!
