Especially after projects, in particular any amount of drywall dust inside, I feel like I've mopped 3 times and there is still grime on the floor.
Also, what kind of mop works best? Two buckets? Shaggy mop/sponge mop/swiffer?
The Penis-Eating Kobold Vacuum Cleaner - a Partial Translation of the Most Absurd Case Series in Medical History
Introduction: The penis-eating Kobold vacuum cleaner is a marvelous story, legend and meme among medical students and physicians in the German-speaking world. And not only among them, through public readings by renown authors and actors and an own audiobook, this case series made its way into a broader German audience. Talking with non-Germans, I realized this great piece of medical history has not been previously translated into English.
Objective: To entertain medical professionals outside of the German-speaking world.
Conclusion: Kobold vacuum cleaner goes brrrr.
"Penis Injuries during Masturbation with Vacuum Cleaners" is the full title of this Dr. med. thesis from the Faculty of Medicine of the Technical University of Munich from 1978. It is obviously graphic and not safe for work unless you are an urologist, I guess.
Skip this part if you are not interested in academical bureaucracy: To summarize this "byzantine scheme" (a quote from a redditor on this sub) briefly: German physicians graduate from medical school with no Dr. title by default, they are just "Herr Max Mustermann, Arzt" or "Frau Erika Mustermann, Ärztin", basically "Mr. John Doe, physician." To be able to call yourself Dr. med. NAME, you need to finish and defend a Dr. med. thesis. These have a huge variety from meaningful experimental or clinical projects, often with a strong publication as first author, up to retrospective chart-review projects which would sometimes barely pass as a master thesis in other sciences. Within German law, the Dr. med. is theoretically on par with the Dr. phil or Dr. rer. nat. (most common types of PhD) but since the quality is so often below the standards of a PhD, the EU does not recognize it as a PhD for e.g. grant eligibility. The proportion of medical students and graduates finishing Dr. med. projects is at 55-70% and declining since the job market got much, much better since the 90s. No offense to the author of the thesis, but it would likely be not accepted in this form nowadays.
Anyways, in this Dr. med. thesis, Michael Alschibaja Theimuras, at this time an urology resident at the Clinic on the Right Bank of the Isar, the university hospital of TU Munich reviewed... keep reading on reddit ➡
My mom is very self centered. She thinks that her word is law and that children are slaves. While she’s nice sometimes she’s mostly just another requirement in my life.
I’ll give you a few examples
She only does laundry when it’s convenient for her. I could do the laundry but my dad tells me not to because if I did that as well my mom would not be “helpful”. (this is her only chore)
She always tells us that respect is earned and not expected but expects it from me.
She blames me for not allowing her to have better life (she had me early)
I recently sprained my ankle. I had to get an x-ray kind of sprain. I sprained my foot early in the morning so by that evening I could generally limp around the house. Going up and down stairs is difficult so I try not to. I went down for dinner. I’m often the last one there because I do the dishes and on my way up I bumped into my mom. She was on her way up and told me to bring the vacuum cleaner upstairs. I looked at her dumbfounded for a good 3 seconds until I realized she was dead serious. I did it
Because of the story above my ankle still hurts after 6 days (is this normal?) and she wanted me to get her the measuring tape upstairs because her hand hurts...
This is not all of it but she’s not always like this. She just pushes me over the edge often. (I might be over reacting)
Thanks for reading
EDIT: I just wanted to clear stuff up.
I was downstairs because I’m in charge of cooking for that day
My younger sibling used to have more chores but he does things lazily so I ended up taking over. (If you want something done right, do it yourself)
I do taekwondo (how I sprained my ankle) and I’m a little on edge because this is my first time spraining anything and I got scared this will affect my performance
I can’t go to my dad for a doctor. He thinks that if I can walk I’m fine. It's been a week and I still can’t move it properly (something feels pulled/sharp pain) but he expects me to start training again tomorrow
I’m sorry for being kinda whiny. Again, I’m terrified but at the same time I want to be realistic because I don’t think I’m fit to do stuff like this last week, now or tomorrow Also, I’m not trying to pick a fight with anyone.
And I do plan to stop all contact once I’m independent but that might take a while cuz I’m still in high school
Again, thank you so much for reading this and I really appreciate the thought. Hope you have a good day :))
Disclaimer: I am not some lore aficionado and nor read most 40k books, however ever since the Fall of Cadia and the resurrection of Rowboat Gullyman it seems the Imperium is doing better than ever.
Roboute took his rightful place as Regent, Cawl the Toaster put his Primaris Marines in the sink to taw (which for some reason were able to stay hidden for ten thousand years) and Imperium is researching new technology like never before. Sure, the Imperium has been sawn apart and not even Flex Tape can fix it, but for some reason the Dark Imperium remained in the Imperium's hand although even before the Great Rift was formed it was on its last legs. Somehow with half the resources and double the enemies it's just peachy and neither outside nor inside forces threaten Imperial dominance. The Tyranids were fended off without much losses by the Blood Angels, Ultramar fended off the biggest Death Guard invasion yet, don't talk about the Black Legion and it all feels so trite.
Shouldn't the Dark Imperium be torn apart like a cadaver in the savanna? But somehow Chaos didn't seem to gain much apart from Cadia. The "Psychic Awakening" of new psykers didn't seem to influence much. Supposedly more psykers exist now, but it seems to have little influence. Eldar became stronger psykers, but somehow all Craftworlds and Commoragh were assaulted by Daemons and for good measure GW shattered Biel-Tan weakening them. I cannot talk about Necrons or Tau, but I guess they made gains, but these seem to be largely symbolic. All in all it doesn't seem to have hurt the Imperium much and actually has been a boon for them to fail at Cadia.
Finally our Rowboat. It's not like I hate him, however I feel like he hogs too much screen time if I were to say so. He takes away from the Human aspect as any reformist can simply take Gorillaman's side and be assured victory in a sense. Everything he touches becomes gold or at least silver and as far as I know he hasn't really fucked anything up.
In the end the new era feels a lot like a lore shift towards the Imperium, which shouldn't be surprising if one sees Space Marine sales.
Edit: Fuck, I forgot the Orks. Thatcher was decapitated by a Primaris Lieutenant, still lives but the Waargh was postponed.
Edit 2: I am aware that the BA lost 70-90% of their marines, however if these losses are instantly replaced by Primaris the point is moot. It would be like fighting in Verdun losing Millions of Soldiers only for them to be replaced by clones of the... keep reading on reddit ➡
I know this isn’t survival per se but curious to hear what folks think.
I’m headed to a backcountry hot spring this weekend and the thought came to my mind.
Yes I know natural hot springs have harmful bacteria at times but if it’s vacuum packed would it be ok?
Please don’t downvote me too hard. Lol.
Update!!! Sorry forgot to do this sooner. To everyone who said it wasn’t gonna be hot enough. You were right. I brought a thermometer and right at the source it only got to 110F. The search for the perfect sous vide hot spring will continue.
