Hello, this is my first post on Reddit so please be patient with me, this has been a long battle and it seems as though the legal petition is being drawn. During the pandemic, like most people I did some online shopping. I purchased two pairs of shoes from a company that I had used before. Now, previously on their site they had a banner that they would not be taking orders due to Covid 19 so I waited to make my purchase for two months (end of may). When I visited the site the banner had been removed so I purchased two pairs of shoes (totalling £150). I paid with PayPal and received a confirmation from PayPal but not from the company. I waited 24 hours and then filled out their ’contact us form on their website“... well they didn’t respond so I emailed and received a generic response saying they were closed due to Covid. I waited another 5 days and decided to open a case with PayPal for the full amount. 3 days later, I received an email with tracking information so I thought great, all is well.

It wasn’t, and when the package came one pair of shoes were missing. So I changed the claim amount to exclude the shoe that came and purchased the shoe somewhere else (I stated this in my PayPal claim). PayPal said I was having buyers remorse and closed my case, they opened and closed it 3 times by August as I kept calling to speak with them and explaining that I only got one shoe, now because the company never sent me a confirmation email, PayPal stated that they could not be sure what I had paid for (silly but what could I say).

In august I looked up the site and saw that they were now trading from a different name, I then discovered that many others had made orders but received no confirmation email, no items, or refunds. I decided to leave a review.

This is what I left -

On the 29th of may I made a purchase of two pairs of shoes, like many people on this thread I did not receive a confirmation email. I attempted to contact shoe shop through their website but did not receive any response. On the 2nd I then emailed them and received a generic automatic email stating they weren’t going to respond due to COVID.

On the 5th of June I opened a case with PayPal as I had not;
1- received a confirmation email
2 - had any correspondence from them

Ew, I can't believe I am agreeing with Kelly Dodd but here I am. I am posting my thoughts and questions on this situation but I really do not think one part of it is 100% true. Certain things in her story just really don't add up and it's a bad look for the "First Out LGBTQ Housewife"... even though I am sure that Denise/Brandi/Kandi/Kim Zolciack have said they are bi?? Anyway, the whole affair is rubbing me the wrong way and I am on break in a city in lockdown.

Who's with me?

A year ago, I was sitting with my best friend while she was swiping through tinder. I saw her face drop and I knew something was wrong. She turned the phone over and it was my new boyfriends tinder profile. We had only been dating for 3-4 months so it was still new, but very much exclusive.

I sent him a screen recording of the video while on the phone with him and all he said was- that’s not me. And I was like hahaha yeah right. He was convinced someone else made it. then about 10 minutes later confessed that his two friends made the account as a joke, because they both had girlfriends and had to make a fake profile.

About an hour later I get a call from his friends (whom I hadn’t met yet) apologizing for the misunderstanding and relaying to me that my boyfriend is a really good guy. This could be true, but I also know that guys lie to their buddies girlfriends to protect each other.

The hangup that I have, is that the bio used was very serious, almost identical to the one I swiped on when we, ourselves met on tinder. His job title was very specific, a little too specific for someone who doesn’t work the job. The photos were old and new. One of the pics was right after his new haircut that he had sent to me personally. Maybe he also wanted to share with his friends, but I doubt it. And the “spotify anthem” was the same obscure song.

I really love him and believe he’s a good man and boyfriend but I would be so hurt if he’s been lying to me this whole time and withholding closure when this whole situation has brought me doubt and insecurities ever since.

Update: One of his friends just recently broke up with his girlfriend, I called her to see if she had any info, as she was in the car with her then boyfriend when he called to apologize. She told me everything is true, her boyfriend and his friend DID make the account and probably modeled it after his old tinder. Thank you all for your help and advice!

Howard Zinn was a historian and a political science professor at Boston University. He died in 2010, but his most famous book “A People’s History of the United States” remains a influential book.

Originally published in 1980, the book basically goes over the history of the Americas from Christopher Columbus to the presidency of George W. Bush and the War on Terror in updated editions.

What separates Zinn’s book from others is that Zinn looks at American history through the lens that a small aggregate of Elites exploit and manipulate the masses through rigged systems.

Now I have only read one chapter of the book in high school for a class. It was the chapter on “Robber Barons” such as John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie. I remember finding it interesting but I never got to read the whole book.

I also remember seeing the book get featured in an episode of the Sopranos when AJ Soprano was reading the chapter on Christopher Columbus and questioning why we celebrate Columbus when he did such horrible things. Of course Tony Soprano lashed out at him since Tony’s crew saw Columbus Day as a day of Italian pride.

So if you have read Zinn’s book, is it really that truthful in its portrayal of American history? Also, is it concerning that high schools and colleges are assigning this book as required reading?

If you-know-who says either of those set of words ever again, I might scream and scare the dog--or just mute the durn TV. Chris says them in almost every sentence, and that alone would have me running for the hills. Also, Paige, some of us are really losing sympathy for you. Please just stop and THINK. CW: physical and emotional abuse

I'm new here, so I'm sorry if this title is a bit weird. This was posted to another sub, but I got no advice and I desperately need some as soon as possible because I've been on the brink of a panic attack ever since she said this.

First I'll give some brief context. Er, I'll try to make it brief.

My (23nb) mom (65f) has been emotionally abusive to me all my life. There are very little memories of my childhood that I have that weren't spent in fear of her yelling and screaming at me or my brother, and then her turning around to either pretend it didn't happen or "promises" she would make to be a better person. She has a record gaslighting so much in my life, and had repeatedly attempted to gain sole custody by saying that I was afraid of my dad which was far from the truth. There was never a time that I can recall where she hit me, but my mental state was horrific. Still is, I suppose. My dad tried his best to be there for me and my brother, but he couldn't constantly fight the legal battles against my mom since he was struggling really badly at the time. Very vividly I remember the police showing up at my dad's door because my mom had put in a call that he had kidnapped us, even when it was his day to be with us. My dad is the main point of this story.

I was forced to stay with my mom after going to her house for a spring break that would turn into a living situation because of the pandemic. During this time, I graduated college, and got a job where I currently work.

Now that I've become an adult who can stand up for myself, I've been able to remain on speaking terms with my mom. She has been slowly losing her financial grasp on me as I save up to move out permanently, which I will be doing in a couple of months. This seems to have made her realize that I won't be around to be a verbal punching bag to anymore, and has tried to play happy family while also constantly slandering my dad. It has ranged from her saying that he's been berating her over the phone, to the more serious incident which I need advice on.

Last night, my mom sort of off-handedly mentioned that my dad had beaten her at one point in her life and she had needed to file a restraining order on him. When I pressed further on this, she said she had photos. I told her I needed real proof of this happening before I can ever believe her. She went silent, and hasn't brought it up since.

I don't want to victim blame, so if this really did happen to her, then
