Torque

Who would send a perfectly functioning board to FM just to tighten a few bolts? I also asked to purchase a spare axle bolt. They refused to supply the parts. Really disappointed in how they are treating their boards like a black box. They seemed like a cool company, but I guess that's just the marketing. :(

I have a general understanding of the two. Horsepower (or power in general) is energy used or produced per unit of time, and torque is the force that causes something to rotate.

For example, I've heard that the Hyundai Equus and the Mercedes S-Class (?) of the same model year both have 429 horsepower, but the S-Class has 25% more torque. I have a number of questions:

1. Could one just put the Equus' driveshaft through a 1.25:1 gear reduction before it reaches the transmission, so that it has the same horsepower and torque as the S-Class?

2. Does the S-Class' engine have any advantages over the Equus'? If so, what?

3. Take for example, an underpowered car like the Mitsubishi Mirage that has 80 horsepower. Would it be possible to give this car an engine that produces, say, 80 horsepower but 5,000lbft of torque? Would that have any drawbacks?

4. What about the opposite? If two engines both have 500lbft of torque but one has more horsepower, how would they be different?

5. Does high torque have any drawbacks? Are there tradeoffs?

I was looking at buying this from harbor freight, as it is cheaper than other solutions I've looked at but am not sure if it is worth getting given how cheap it is. I need this to check if my torque wrenches and torqometers are within calibration. Should I spend a little more and get the acdelco one, or will this be sufficient. I would love some input from someone that owns one of these

For example two cars with similar horsepower might have completely different torque without the aid of any electrical motor? Or does this not happen and I am imagining it. Thanks

I need to design a 50kW (70 HP) diesel engine (two stroke) as a project. I calculated all the parameters of a diesel cycle in the cylinder. The resulting parameter is work done by the cylinder. To get the power of the system, I need torque and RPM.

How do I get these parameters? I downloaded a ton of literature and only answer I get is that torque is measure on the brakes, therefore it is given by empiric observation (?)

Let’s say you have two identical cars at 300bhp but one has 200ft/lbs of torque and the other has 600ft/lbs or torque, would you ‘feel’ the higher torque car more during acceleration? (providing all other factors are the same)

If not, what different effects would you notice in the higher torque car?

Hello, I would like to buy a torque wrench and i would like something cheap. Is a 6 Nm torque wrench enough for me? Would i need to be more precise with the bigger torque parts of the bike as well for example cranks (12-14 Nm)? I have alliminium frame.
