I mapped the Shire to learn cartography techniques. Used J.R.R. and C. Tolkiens' maps for absolute references of scale for Hobbiton, Brandywine, Michel Delving and gathered topography from Oxfordshire elevations. When all Middle-Earth is finished, will be 48"x48" poster, but I have a *long* way yet.

Where can I import vector/editable topography maps from (into AutoCad)?
Hi everyone - my dad uses AutoCAD for surveying (marking new roads, bridge studies and the like) in a country that is not technologically advanced. He does almost all the topography contours manually, which takes a long time.
I've found lots of sites that already have topography maps like MapBox (with the contour setting applied), Google Maps, OpenTopoMap etc. Is there a way to import any of these into AutoCAD with editable vector contours?
I also saw ArcGIS - will that allow exporting to AutoCAD? He'd happily pay the license if so.
Sorry if there isn't enough info. I'm not super familiar with AutoCAD, but if you have any ideas, tutorials I'd like to share them with my dad.

How do retain this topography when I do the command meshtonurbs? It becomes faceted which is not what I am after.
