What to do about tomato hornworms in my compost?
I have a 4x4x4 compost pile of mostly oak leaves and kitchen scraps, though last fall I did put all my dead tomato plants into it. They’d done great over the summer, and weren’t infested with hornworms as far as I knew.
But today my pile had dropped to 100 F so I was turning it, and gradually I turned up at least a couple dozen of what look like translucent white tomato hornworms. I imagine if they were eating actual tomato greenery they’d have their usual green color too.
What can I do to save this compost? I don’t really want to spread it over this year’s budding veggies if it’s full of those voracious buggers.

What naturally prevents hornworms from eating tomato plants?
I was told about nematodes, but not sure which ones are the best for this (if at all). My boyfriend's mom started a garden and is terrified of any type of caterpillar lol. She let her tomato plants die because she saw hornworms so I wanted to get her something for Christmas to repel them.
