In temp custody of my little sister(8yr) she has a huge textile issue any tips?

My little sister refuses to wear anything that's even slightly restricting (elastics, semi fitting clothes, clothes that hug around the armpit, underwear, certain shoes) I genuinely don't know what to do since it's not like I can take her to Walmart to try on new clothes right now. So as it is we just buy her clothes hoping that she won't break down into hysterics once she trys them. And I mean break down, she cry's, hyperventilates, throws up, throws fits and refuses to move. I'm just trying to make sure she gets to school on time but every week day is a problem with some part of her outfit. If there's anything you guys know I'd gladly take the advice.

A Brief History of the Calico Acts: How Protectionism ruined the British Textile Industry and How Free Trade Saved it.

There has been a lot of discussion on /r/Neoliberal lately about the effects of protectionism such as the Jones Act, and another post celebrating Joe Biden requiring Buy-American electric vehicles to be used for the government.

Luckily, some of our more conservative flaired users came to the comments to remind us why this is a bad idea. But since many of us here seem to have forgotten why trade protectionism does more harm to the countries and industries it intends to protect, I thought I would write up a small discussion on the history of the British Calico Acts.

1660: The English East India Company

Let's go back to the year 1660. The English East India Company has recently become a major economic power trading spices and other commodities between the British Isles and the East-Indies. The EIC became a world superpower ultimately accounting for nearly half the worlds trade. Along with the spices, the EIC brought what started out as a novelty item: cheap colorful calico cloths from southwestern India. These cheap colorful cloths became an instant success in England, which would come to dominate the spice trade by the mid to late 1700s.

1700: The Calico Acts

Desperate to protect their wool industry, Britain moved swiftly to prop up the wool industry. By 1685, Britain imposed a 10% tariff on the imports of East Indian goods. The demand for calico textiles remained high however, threatening the wool industry. By 1690, Britain doubled its tariff on these imports to 20%. However, sales of the calico prints were still on the rise. The soft, cheap, colorful calico textiles were far superio

Looking for a place that does textile recycling...

I'm doing a decent sized clean out of my apartment and also my mother's house (she's alive, just has a lot of stuff too). I have some things that are not donation worthy (ripped or stained clothes, etc). I planned to take clean towels, blankets, and sheets to the animal shelter to see if they can use them in crates, but I'm not sure what to do with the clothes that are not acceptable for donations. There used to be a bin for Planet Aid by my apartment, and that's generally the type of thing I'm looking for. A place where the textiles can be reused instead of sitting in a landfill. I'm in Western Suffolk but I'm willing to go an hour or so in any direction to drop off. Thanks for any help!

Where can I recycle textiles in Los Angeles?

I'm in the process of moving and have some old fabric items (sheets, clothes, towels, etc), that are too shabby to donate. I don't want to just throw them away and have them wind up in a landfill. I've heard there are places that will take in old fabric and recycle it down to the threads. Does anyone have a recommendation for where to get this done? Hollywood/Echo Park area is preferred, but I'm open to anywhere in the city. Thanks!

Universities in Europe/UK for Textile Design

Hi!! I’m from the US but I am an eu citizen and I don’t plan on staying here :) I really want to study textile design in Europe. I speak English and French but I would prefer not to go to France (Belgium is good tho☺️). Anyway I guess I’m just asking for great textile design schools in Europe or the UK! Top choice right now is Central Saint Martins. Does anybody know how good La Cambre is in Brussels. There isn’t a lot of info about it :( How is Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. I know a lot of people say that it’s difficult to get a job after attending.

Thank you!!
