(I wrote this for a different subreddit, so that's why there's so much backstory on the Naturium shit.)
Yes, this post is long as fuck. I got TIME tahDAY.
I watch a lot of skincare channels on YouTube, and it feels like every week there’s a new CLOWN attempting to sneak Susan Yara and/or her shitty brand Naturium back into the public’s good graces. Right at this moment, Kelly Driscoll is GLUED to her chair refreshing her latest video so that she can instantly delete any comment that criticizes her decision to promote the brand. I think she’s only let three mildly disappointed comments prosper. Maybe she’s trying to compete with Susan Yara’s quickness to delete pro-Black Lives Matter posts in her Facebook group (and then attempt to gaslight everyone into believing that they definitely didn’t see it happen).
Since drama channels primarily focus on the makeup side of beauty gurus, maybe these idiots feel like they can get away with these antics and not have anybody notice. Well, until Teaspill, Peter Monn, Here for the Tea, Nick Snider, etc. realize that they need to be keeping an eye on these skincare “gurus,” I’m going to call them out over here. These bitches truly ain’t SHIT. They don’t care about their supporters; they care about maintaining good relationships with big influencers who can be beneficial to them in the future.
I’ll explain who Susan Yara is and why she the worst in this post, but first I’m calling out:
In the yard of St. Mary's Catholic Church in London, Ontario Canada, 5 year old Susan Cadieux was playing with her two brothers, Michael (10) and Patrick (9). They were joined by their neighbor, Virginia (12). It was the evening of Friday, January 6th. The children were soon approached by a tall man who was unshaven and thin. He was wearing a brown overcoat and galoshes. He claimed to have an appointment with a priest at the church. Virginia fell on some ice nearby. The boys were distracted with helping her up, and Susan left with the unknown man, telling them that he was going to give her something.
The older children looked and yelled for Susan and eventually returned home. The police were called, and one of the priests made an appeal for Susan's return over local radio. Volunteers looked for her into the early morning. At approximately 10 am the next morning, her body was found in a warehouse yard of a construction site nearby. Her underclothing was torn, and her jeans she wore under a snowsuit were missing. Tears were frozen to her face. She had been sexually assaulted, and it was estimated that she had died less than 3 hours before being found.
Over the previous year, 10 other girls had been victims of sexual assault. I couldn't find any more information about these cases. Sometimes this case is linked to Lynne Harper, and one suspect was suggested in 2000 as Alexander Kalichuk. He had a criminal history of sex offenses in the 1950s and was stationed nearby. He died in 1975.
Her parents died in 1986 and 1990. Her brothers died in 1995 and 2010. No one was ever arrested.

As a mother of two I’m going to let you in on a secret closely guarded by the parents of the world: having kids is overrated, and you don’t have to do it. No matter how many women (it’s always the women) accost you at dinner parties demanding to know why your uterus remains a thing of emptiness, I will tell you unequivocally that the motive for their probing is rage around the following things: you – unlike them – look fresh and rested; you – unlike them – will not be going home to pay the babysitter after this dull dinner party but heading straight to somewhere fabulous where you’ll imbibe alcohol and have sexual relations and lastly (and this is a biggie) your vagina is intact. Nothing makes mothers madder than the idea of your intact vagina.
These things about you fill parents of the world with hateful, jealous fury. How dare you sleep in the nighttime and spend your weekends on the beach? Why aren’t you and your partner also having fights in the park at 6:45am and walking up and down the driveway frantically pushing a pram while its contents scream unrelentingly? Or trying to eat a restaurant meal holding a fractious, miniature fembot? No no no no, you look far too contented. Quick! You need to lose that contraceptive device yesterday and also be very fat and very, very tired like them. But really, here’s the thing – and I’ve done it long enough to know – in spite of what people seem hell-bent on telling you there are in fact gazillions of worthwhile ways to spend the days of your life that have nothing to do with bringing children forth into the world.
Off the top of my head I can think of 137 more interesting things than the school run, for example. If I could clock up the hours, months, probably years I’ve spent waiting for someone short in stature to finish ballet/soccer/recorder lessons I’m certain I would keel over and die of dismay. And I’m not saying I don’t like having children. I adore my girls and for me, for whatever reason, mothering was always on the agenda. But I don’t pretend it’s not a job without moments of mind-altering tediousness and that there aren’t days I want to say to my offspring, you know what? You are the two most annoying people I’ve ever met on this planet. I’m off to drink piña coladas somewhere sane like a lunatic asylum. Sayonara, midgets, and good luck working the stove.
But, unlike other job descriptions tha
... keep reading on reddit ➡Hi, Everyone! Happy New Year! I was recently watching Cassandra Bankson's top 20 cringy celebrity/influencer 2020 moments and I noticed Susan Uara didn't make the cut.
I also realized that I haven't seen anyone ever talk about it. It's pretty much been an avoided topic and I find it very disappointing considering James, Hyram etc. were initally supporting Naturium so I would have wanted to know thwir thoughts on the issue.
I'm not saying Susan should be cancelled or anything but conversations on the topic that is actually initiated by influencers would be nice. In fact, I believe the lack of discussion or the inability to call each other out is partly the reason why Naturium was able to bounce back or at least maintain the "business as usual" feel.
I believe conversations about skincare companies and business malpractices should extend to the youtube community and I think it's quite hypocritical for them to exempt themselves and only call out corporations that don't have a leading YT figure.
It's especially odd when you know many of these influencers do call people out on their crap and have spoken up about shady skincare companies yet are still choosing to remain silent re: Susan Yara
Does anyone else feel this way?
So I'm rewatching some of season 1 and I forgot how horrible a woman Susan is, thinking she's entitled to naming Ross's child while also thinking Geller shouldn't be in the name. Yet her and Carol want Ross to be involved??? Honestly, if anything, Susan had NO right to the baby's name or Ross's involvement because that's ROSS's child and last I checked, Susan had zero involvement in conceiving the child so why does she have any say in anything to do with the baby? And Carol is no better because she sided with someone who couldn't have given any care about Carol's previous partner as long as it benefited her. Ross was a victim throughout this "threesome" so to speak and I couldn't imagine being in his shoes. I mean am I overreacting or am I on point? Willing to discuss in a civil manner in the comments section
EDIT: That's all the time I have today, because, you know, NEWS! Happening soon. Many thanks for the great questions. Keep following our coverage at USATODAY.com
Hey, everyone. I’m Susan Page, the Washington Bureau chief of USA TODAY. The 2020 election is the 11th presidential campaign I’ve covered, first for Newsday and now for USA TODAY, but this one is not like all the others. At this point, I’ve covered six White House administrations and interviewed nine of the nation’s 45 presidents, which either means I’m really old or the United States is really young, or possibly both.
The staffers in our bureau have been at the center of coverage of the 2020 election for USA TODAY and the USA TODAY Network, which includes news outlets from Detroit to Des Moines to Phoenix to Florida. Really, everywhere. (Witness our brand name.) You can probably figure out that I live in Washington, D.C. I’m also finishing a biography of Nancy Pelosi titled MADAM SPEAKER: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power, out next spring.

I’ll explain who Susan Yara is and why she's the worst in this post, but first I’m calling out:
I'm not familiar with all of the people listed, and I don't regularly watch those that I am familiar with so I can't speak to the validity of the criticisms made, but I'll do my best to summarise them here. Please chime in if you feel they are unfair/incorrect - I'd love to hear from you. Would also love to know if you watch any of these creators, and if this will change how you view them or their content.
This is old news but for those OOTL, Susan Yara has a beauty/skincare youtube channel called Mixed Makeup (and a personal channel). She is also a co-founder of Naturium, a skincare brand which she reviewed and promoted on her channel and private Facebook group without disclosing her involvement with. Many of her viewers were justifiably angry when she launched her brand, as she had never indicated that she had a financial stake in the company, claimed she found out about the brand from a "PR mailer" and "got a discount code from the brand", and even feigned surprise that her own vitamin C was "only $20"! The FTC has rules about failing to disclose your relationship with a brand (it's a big no no).
After getting called out, Susan left some passive aggressive Facebook comments blaming other women for "going after" her and posted possibly one of the worst apology videos, in which she says she “didn’t want it to be an influencer brand” and wanted to get “honest and true feedback from everyone”, blames the pandemic for not disclosing her involvement sooner, and implies her "mistakes" were being overblown. She claimed she didn't offically become a brand co-founder until June 12, though this doesn't really fit the narrative she presents in the launch video of her shaping the brand's creation, or explain the products she promoted in April. She also made a statement on Facebook stating she “planned on announcing in March, but took a step back as the pandemic unfolded and the movements to address racial injustice deserved the spotlight”. Gross.
The post which I cannot link here (but you can find if you click on OP's profile below) has a more detailed of Susan Yara's problematic behaviour, particularly with regards to BLM and responding poorly when being called out.
