Stupid brain.
What a crappy time this is. Just really, really crappy.
First off, stock for most of the new PC components, including CPUs and GPUs are non existent and have been for a long time. Secondly, when they are in stock, it is fleeting and they are incredibly overpriced. I had hoped that being a bit more patient and waiting until the new year things would improve somewhat, but here we are in the new year and it's the same as it ever was, if not worse in regards to the pricing.
A 6800 XT for 1000-1100 Euros? REALLY? How in the hell is this even possible, let alone acceptable. It's beyond a joke. This generation was really interesting to me because we have seen some marked performance improvements at what seems to be a reasonable price, if we take a 6800XT at around 650โฌ as an example. It is still pricy, sure, as I remember being able to get top tier cards for around 400โฌ, however comparatively that seems like an utter bargain when all the actual available cards are priced at nearly double that.
Absolutely infuriating and completely disheartening to me, as I'm super eager to finally upgrade and enjoy the current generation of games at the best possible quality.
My current setup consists of 2 GTX 970s in SLi. Far from ideal since SLi is dead, and also it is really starting to show its age in new titles at 1440p, however it has served me well for a good few years. Now it comes time make a meaningful upgrade that would be an absolutely massive difference and I can't do it. I haven't been able to for months, and I have been regularly checking stock levels.
The same with a PS5 - where are they? I can't remember any time before where things have been apparently so limited and so inflated in price. This whole period has really bummed me out and made me far less enthusiastic about the whole PC and gaming scene.
It looks like by the time stock returns to some kind of 'normal', if it ever does, then we'll be looking forward to series refreshes or new models, and the whole cycle can start over again.
So when is the end in sight? When can we actually buy some damn hardware? I just can't fathom any more how this awful situation keeps prolonging itself.
Edit: my income isn't a serial flasher that likes to expose itself, I'm gonna blame my mobile keyboard
I started paper trading and thought that what I was doing was working (looking back at my trades makes me cringe now), so I decided to put $1000 in my account and try it for real. I was on a steady downtrend for the first 2 months (while the general market is on a steady uptrend) and found my account balance to be below $850. I had to take a break at this point and had serious thoughts about giving up. I thought I wasn't cut out to be a trader; I must be a part of the 95% who fail. I decided to give it one more shot. I took a deep analytical dive into my past trades. I reevaluated my strategy, and found what was working and what wasn't. I slowly started seeing results. I clawed my way back to the original $1000 investment and today have officially hit the $100 profit mark.
If anyone is still reading this, I know what you're thinking: "Wow, 100 bucks, big deal," and you're right. It's not much. However, If an average guy like myself can battle back and grow his account 10% (+30% in two months), I strongly believe that anyone can; with enough dedication. I'd be happy to talk more about my journey to anyone who's interested or just starting out.
Edit: Thank you all for your comments! Iโve been reading almost every one! I knew a lot of people would say that based on my story, trading probably isn't for me, you have a very valid reason for saying so, and you could still be right. I've heard that everyone's trading journey is different, and I'm hoping my journey can continue for much longer. Instead of thinking about how I've only made 10% in 8 months in one of the strongest bull runs, I like to think that I've gone from $850 to $1100 (30% gain) while the SPY has gone up 8% in the past two months. I hope these type of gains can continue, but time will tell. Even if I can't continue these gains, I've really enjoyed the learning process and think that the knowledge I've gained is beneficial and worth the time to me.
Also, I am only trading with money I can afford to lose. I have the majority of my money in mutual funds that I don't plan on touching for a long time
So the SEC put out the following alert/bulletin in 2015 on social media use, stock promotion, and fraud, and it's very relevant today:
https://www.investor.gov/introduction-investing/general-resources/news-alerts/alerts-bulletins/investor-alerts/updated-1
I think it'd be good for every WSBer to read, because it details what is and isn't illegal about social media and stock promotion.
In a nutshell, the SEC has prosecuted individuals in the past who used social media to either (1) spread misinformation (rumors also count under their definition of misinformation) about a stock, or (2) promote the stock without disclosing a conflict of interest (e.g., that they received stock for promoting the ticker, or that they owned the stock).
Because of the above, I think it is absolutely crucial that we reinstitute the positions or ban rule, because that satisfies the above conflict of interest disclosure requirement, assuming you haven't also received other compensation for posting whatever you do (which I assume none of us do).
They also note that promoting pump and dumps on social media is--of course--illegal, which is why no one here should be trying to start a short squeeze if you don't also believe the company is valuable. I fully intend to hold GME for years, for example, because I believe in Cohen, much like many of us continue to hold Tesla even though it squoze considerably over the last year. In other words, only invest in companies that you think are worth owning, retards. We can't know what the market is going to do. GameStop may issue 60 million new shares, and I'd still be happy to hold until Cohen leaves the company. The man's a business genius IMO.
In addition, another SEC regulation is that only registered professionals can provide investment advice, so it goes without saying here that to ensure you're completely on the right side of the law, you need to include a disclaimer that any statement you make about a stock isn't investment advice. Needless to say, none of this is investing advice. Invest in any company at your own risk.
TLDR: reinstituting the positions or ban rule will keep WSB on the right side of the law, since it satisfies the need to disclose conflicts of interest. Also, don't pump and dump; only invest in companies that are popular on WSB if you think they're good investments, and do your own research. Finally, make sure to disclose that, like me, you are a retard and not qualified to give investing advice, so your

I created an algo that scans the most popular trading sub-reddits and logs the tickers mentioned in due-diligence or discussion-styled posts. Instead of scanning for how many times each ticker was mentioned in a comment, I logged how popular the post was among the sub-reddit. Essentially if it makes it to the 'hot' page, regardless of the subreddit, then it will most likely be on this list. There are two parts to this post. The first is for posts that were submitted in the most active trading sub-reddits (such as this one), and the second part has the most mentioned tickers from the WSB sub-reddit.
How is "Hype" calculated?
Well, this is a little tricky but it's based on the engagement that the post received in that sub-reddit relative to other posts in the same sub-reddit
How can I use this list?
The best way to use this data is to learn about new tickers that might be trending. As an example, I probably would have never known about the ARK etfs, or even Palantir, until they started trending on Reddit. This gives many people an opportunity to learn about these stocks and decide if they want to invest in them or not. The data on this list is limited to one post per ticker. I've taken the most 'popular' post for that ticker on whichever sub-reddit it may have been. What I've found is that normally if tickers begin to trend on one sub-reddit then generally-speaking there will be posts for the same ticker on various other sub-reddits. Here's the data from the last week.
Title | Tickers | Avg Hype % |

There are probably 3-5 posts per day from users who do not know how to use the search feature asking "What stocks are going to rocket in 2021" -or- "What stocks should I invest in?"
Holy shit people, use the damn search feature on Reddit.
These posts are mostly useless. For one it's a huge circle jerk of individuals pumping their own stock holdings. Two, you shouldn't willingly take advices from random individuals on the internet. Lastly, use the god damn search feature. Multiple posts like this degrade the subreddit to some degree.
Edit: Wow, this blew up. So I just want to clarify something. I don't mind those type of posts if it were less frequent. It's the people that constantly post and ask the same shit every single day that gets to me. Yes, I can just ignore them but... my OCD man.

Following my comment on this sub 3 days ago, many of you have been asking me to share the stock picks from this program I have built that scrapes Reddit and Twitter for emerging stocks. So far, the majority of the picks are small caps so I can't publish them here. However, I still wanted to share with you all the higher caps that were surfaced.
Before I share the picks of this week with you below, please consider reading this crucial preamble. That should answer your questions and avoid misconceptions.
Ok, now that this is clear for everyone, hereโs how to interpret the stock picks.
Warning: For those who are worried that this will only surface PnD penny stocks, I have taught my program how to flag picks that are highly correlated with terms associated with PnD schemes (โmoonโ, โpumpโ, โdumpโ etc.). I still have to add a level of human curation to the algorithmic results, doing my own DD on the stocks I highlight, but my goal is to have the program do all the work in the future so there isnโt any biases coming in.
2nd Warning: I am a programmer, not a financial analyst. My goal is to share with you the results my program provides, not recommend any buys

As the title says I have a trading bot which I spent a long while developing.
There are two batches of codes which I run alongside each other.
Batch 1 and Batch 2.
Batch 1 uses some of the judgement of myself and calculations to gather stock.
Batch 2 is just purely calculations which release values which say if itโs worth doing a call, or not worth doing a call.
Past few days the top picks with NVDA, and a small cap I can post this daily if you guys are interested.
This the data which I have acquired on Sunday (NY) 10th of January 2021, based on the close of the last business day.
Hereโs an update to my trading bot. QS looks tempting but I think I can hold off until tomorrow a better company I understand comes on sight.
Only invest in companies you know and have a understanding of and can see they have a future, to lessen any potential losses via trading.
