Hi all,
Lately I have been reminiscing and enjoying the "Man With No Name" trilogy of films directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood on blu-ray.
Recently I have become aware that the restorations of two of these films in 2014 has engendered much debate. Specifically the yellow color grading done at Italian film restoration laboratory L'Immagine Ritrovata.
You don't have to look far on google to find multiple forum discussions of people complaining about this yellow coloring.
These complaints by fans were apparently so overwhelming that, in 2017, the boutique blu-ray house Kino Lorber attempted to correct the yellow coloring themselves for their 50th anniversary release of GBU. Unfortunately they did not do a new scan of the film, they simply tried to forcibly reverse the same 2014 version. Unfortunately the poor results speak for themselves. This color correction was evidently so bad that Kino abandoned any attempt to do so again with their 2018 release of Fistful of Do

This came about through a discussion with u/Kdog122025 about westerns as a genre and the possibility of a fantasy-western crossover. I treated our conversation as a writing prompt since I was uncomfortable with my skills doing something western-like, but I went to my neo-western roots with Trigun and Cowboy Bebop (there are plenty of Easter egg references).
Massive shoutout to Kdog (again) and u/StonedSnorlax as well for their critiques on my previous post. I had issues with being unclear in my prose and I worked hard to simplify my descriptions.
This is a possible contender for the first chapter in the fantasy book I'm working on - I'm jostling between starting in one of two places.
To anyone who reads this - thank you so much for your time, and please let me know at what point you'd put the story down.

This is NSFW for language and gore. NSFLunch too.
So I've recently started watching Spaghetti Westerns, and something about the style and atmosphere is very appealing. I especially like the music. So far I've watched a fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more and the original django from 1966. The latter two especially have some of the best music I've heard in a movie. The climax of for a few dollars more... It's just something else, the musical queues and motifs are on point. Same goes for the end of django as he walks out of the graveyard...django was more dumb fun compared to the two Leone films, but the music was still awesome.
So I'm basically looking for more atmospheric spaghetti Westerns with great music... any American western suggestions are good too(literally only seen Unforgiven, which is a masterpiece imo)
And no, I haven't yet seen TGTBATU. I'm saving it...
I personally like My Name Is Nobody and itβs sequels.
Please list your favorites, Iβd like to do a marathon of them tomorrow and make Spaghetti bolognese and pop a few wine bottles.
Thanks in advance. Also, really enjoying this sub, hope Iβm not posting too much.
Today is the day for everything western, and anything else you feel like posting!
What is up with captioning the theme song as spaghetti? I laugh every time, it is so bizarre
Outside of my massive love for anime, I also really like the old classic spaghetti westerns, as well as some newer takes on the genre such as Django: Unchained and The Hateful 8. On top of that, I really like videogames such as the Red Dead series. So, for the longest time ever I've been fantasizing about the mashup of my love for anime and western movies. Now, we've got bangers like Cowboy Bebop which lend aspects and aesthetics, but it's still futuristic. Another great manga (that I personally love like it were the bible or some shit like that) would be Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, which as far as I can find is the closest there is to a "Western anime/manga" set during the actual time period. However, Jojo is Jojo, and doesn't capture the full vibe either with all the crazy outfits and stand powers. Also, it's yet to be adapted to anime. So, does anyone know if there even is a raw, gritty western "period piece" that fully captures the vibe of the classic Clint Eastwood m

So what started as the simple idea to write a spaghetti western in space expanded. The main characters are still suppose to have that spaghetti western feel to them as is the exact tone I'm going for with Kurosawa and Tarantino movies also greatly influencing the idea. But let me present the basic summary to get thoughts on it. Essentially a crew of bounty hunters, mercenaries, vigilantes, and outlaws form up to track down and eliminate a fascist commando death squadron by any means necessary. The commandos who unknown to the hunters at first, are on the hunt for an ancient space ship built by an extinct race that could greatly help their cause. All this set with a back around of a world which is reminiscent of Afghanistan and syria with warlords, militants, and various foriegn powers clashing for control.
Is there too much going on in the story for the reader to remain engaged. Or do these elements actually flow together well. I like the idea because it feels really wild but at the
