I found out about this case randomly and found it very intriguing because it happened literally in South Pole, one of earth's most isolated and mysterious places.
BACKGROUND INFO - ANTARTICA
Despite being a rare occurance, crimes are recorded in Antartica since at least 1958 when two Russians got into a fight with hammers after a dispute concerning a chess game. Extreme isolation and boredom are known to be very mentally challenging and may lead to crime, alcoholism (a common issue on the continent) fights and other issues.
BACKGROUND INFO - RODNEY MARKS
Marks was born in Geelong, Victoria in Australia. He attended the University of Melbourne, later obtaining a PhD from the University of New South Wales. During his childhood he was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome.

Hi folks, I worked down at the South Pole Station a couple seasons and while down there I bought a set of Zippo lighters for my three brothers. Sadly one of my brothers committed suicide and I was not able to get his lighter back, something I would have loved to have as a reminder of him. Is anybody here working at South Pole and do you know if these lighters are still being sold?
