I opened 1,000 Solstice Packages, and here's the drop rate.

Hello! Welcome to the most definitive post about the drop rate of items from the Solstice Event Packages.

I farmed 1,000 Solstice Packages from the EAZ and acquired enough key fragments to open them all, this took a pretty heavy toll on my sanity so I really hope the information we now have was worth it.

The following list is the total amount of items that dropped from the packages.

  • Blue Gear --------------------------- 915
  • Legendary Gear ----------------- 210
  • Solstice Armor ------------------- 324
  • Umbral Engrams ---------------- 163
  • Enhancement Cores ----------- 288
  • Enhancement Prisms --------- 6
  • Upgrade Modules --------------- 23
  • Legendary Shards --------------- 258
  • Planetary Materials ------------ 2,275

You also get Glimmer from each and every package, so I figured it's unnecessary to keep track of that.

I have also logged what I got from every single package so if anyone wa

Warning: Bungie used the wrong images for the Solstice Glow Bundles on Eververse as well as the images for the ornaments.

After I got my glow and donned on my Majestic set, I headed over to the Tribute Hall in excitement to see the glow's full potential. I was immediately disappointed and confused by what I bought. I looked back over to the Eververse Store page, and I realized something was wrong. Bungie used the wrong images for the glow bundle on the Eververse store page. The glows you get from that bundle will never be as bright as shown. What makes this so infuriating is that you cannot preview what the glows would look like when super charged. So, when you see the preview, you automatically think to yourself, "Well, maybe if I get max super energy that it'll become as bright as that image and the ornaments indicates." (https://i.imgur.com/c4maX24.png)

No. It never gets that bright.

Players who purchased glows from previous Solstices should not have to pay for the current ones

Just saw that the glows from past Solstices, ones that we had to purchase with either Silver or Bright Dust, are not going to be made into Universal Ornaments. This means the only way to use them is on armor that is objectively inferior (terribly rolled and no seasonal mod slot), effectively making the glows worthless.

A lot of people are angry at this (the comment that revealed this info has almost 900 downvotes as of this post) and rightfully so. We had to work our asses off to get that armor, and we had to pay either bright dust (a limited resource) or silver (REAL MONEY) for the glows to make them look nice.

I appreciate the effort they're putting into making the new armor set fancy and all, but unless they do the same for the prior armor and glows then that's a lot of players' time that was effectively wasted.

While ideally, I'd like for them to give prior Solstice Armor the same treatment as the new set (i.e. glows are a single universal ornament that updates to your equippe

Solstice gear needs a higher drop rate from packages, we don't need more blues

I just watched somebody open 100 packages and go 38 packages before getting a single piece of armor, solely for it to have bad stat rolls.

We get blue gear from EVERYTHING, usually 3 pieces at a time. We don't need events where you give us a good system (farming solstice armor) but filling the system with insane amounts of gear we can get from absolutely any other source in the game. Once at 1060 base, I can think of no reason other than gunsmith materials, which most people have 1000s of anyway, to drop this many blues besides from padding the event out.

It takes a lot of time to get packages, either make packages a guaranteed drop from Solstice chests (crazy to think we dont need more keys, I know.) or increase the chances of getting Solstice gear. I personally have almost 3k keys but rarely any packages due to everything else in the game taking my attention away from the EAZ. So when I do play EAZ, it's annoying just getting more keys despite every other activity in the game givi

Because they don't.

Some of the glows (solar and especially void) are barely even visible on some pieces (the head specifically) unless the player is standing in the dark.

Considering that there is no super that can be charged in the tower, you also can't just wait out to get a stronger glow, it will always stay at it's weakest, due to the feature that glows scale with super energy.

Solstice 2020 actually not too bad

So I've seen a lot of people bashing solstice for various reasons and for all there may be some validity I actually think on a whole its acty ok.

To get the entire set finished probably takes around 10-20 hours depending on how you play it. Some of the steps are a little grindy but that's just Destiny.

The up points for me

3 really nice armor sets with a base glow available through play.

3 ornament sets to buy but can be bought before finishing the white set if you don't have time etc. Also 6k isn't that much in dust

The two ships and sparrow available for dust.

The overboost on your alt characters is really cool. My 2nd run through is going really quick.

Its gave me something to play and I've enjoyed it, I get some steps are a pain....looking at you 10 gambit matches and 7 trials wins but we have plenty of time to do them.

So if your avoiding it cause people have told you its trash , give it a try you may be surprised.

If the sun over Nessus escapes nebula cycle, evac labor after dawn under solstice.

Just spitballing here...

But is it possible, given that we know the DSC is not actually on Enceladus that this line was meant to be taken literally?

I mean we have passed the season of dawn (and dawning event) and an evacuation is likely to coincide with the solstice event. The evacuation will probably involve alot of labor from the guardians. We also know they are sunsetting the Leviathan (probably a stretch), but more importantly, the leviathan has two suns hanging over it (speculated to power the leviathan) and is itself orbiting over Nessus.

So piecing this together

"If the sun over Nessus escapes nebula cycle, evac labor after dawn under solstice."

If we consider that the evac is in fact the evacuation and will happen under the solstice event, the trigger for this seems to be the sun over Nessus "escaping nebula cycle".

The only "sun" we know besides our own over Nessus is the Leviathan's suns. And given that our sun is over every planet in our solar system - it leads me to

What Bungie caused by 10 heroic public events in solstice

You would expect another whining post, how it sucks doing that, but Bungie probably didn't expect, what they would they cause with this quest step. They caused public events to be FUN and ENJOYABLE AGAIN! I had a great time after a long time. Usually, when I need a public event for some quest, in most cases I do it alone. No other guardian around, alone in the instance. Have no problem soloing it, but it's boring and there's no fun in it anymore. It's like that for a long time. Yesterday, when I was doing 10 heroic public events, instances were full of guardians. There were at least 5-6 other guardians excluding me, at every single public event who were after the same goal. And it was like on the first day I started to play destiny as lvl 1 blueberry. I was in awe from all that was happening around me. Arc staff jumping around massacring mobs, warlock burning everything with the daybreak, titan punching the souls of what's left. Tons of action! Heroic glimmer extraction, tons of mobs,

You can earn 3600 Brightdust each week if you do all weeklies on each character. You have 5 weeks from now to do this, 5x 3600 is 18000. Assuming each set costs 6000 Brightdust like it was in Festival of the Lost that's just about enough to buy each ornament set for each Class. Solstice Character Bonus Progression Fixed

Looks like they fixed the issue causing Solstice Armor completed on Titans to not give bonus progression to other characters.

Honestly, a quick and faster-than-expected fix to the issue. Well done to the Bungie team on this one!

I'm rather shocked that there's a rather large amount of players who misinformed. Who are grinding out there Solstice armor expecting a full set of master worked 1060 amour.

Just stating the fact, not saying it should. That’s a whole other debate.

It’s just that a lot of people who I played with this week think after they complete the amour objectives think they are getting a fully master worked set of 1060 armor. I’m not the only one who has noticed this, some of my Destiny friends have noticed this as well.

This being a common misconception that due to last two Solstice Of Heroes events gave fully master worked sets at max power level and that this year wouldn’t be a different. Those people are sadly mistaken.

Solstice's Lack of Content Should Remind Us of Bungie's Current State

Bungie's entire development team is scattered through the Puget Sound region of Washington due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Everyone is working from home, and Bungie is prioritizing the safety of their employees over everything else. They aren't working at the same efficiency as they were at the end of Season of Dawn. They're focusing on making the big content, like Beyond Light, Arrivals, the Sister's Vengeance live event, with mini events like MoT, SoH, and most likely FotL having a lower priority. We can't expect them to give us the best in the current state of the world, and we have to respect their efforts at trying to please a community that refuses to recognize how hard they're working to keep the game running.

Urgent PSΓ€: If you start now, you can earn enough bright dust to afford all 3 Solstice Eververse sets by the end of the event.

You don't have to spend a dime this year for the solstice sets from Eververse if you're willing to work for it.

You will need 3 characters unfortunately but, you can earn 3600 bright dust every week by doing the weekly bounties from Zavala, Shaxx, and the Drifter on all 3 characters (200 Bright Dust per weekly bounty) and each Eververse set will cost 6000 bright dust and 18,000 for all 3 sets.

3,600*5 weeks=18,000 bright dust

18,000/6,000= 3 sets

(Despite me saying you need all 3 characters, that only applies if you want all 3 sets, if you only play one or two characters you can still do this and earn enough for those 1 or 2 sets)

Edit: As pointed out, Eva will probably have bright dust bounties which could make things easier but this is still nice to know for people who previously didn't know you could farm bright dust like this such as New light players, I actually just found out today myself.

Edit 2: Alot of people seem to not know that this year's Eververse set will come in

Earlier in the week I saw two Destiny content creators comment that high-stat armor was dropping from Solstice packages. Well, I really dig the EAZ and the Solstice armor this time around and would love some high-stat rolls good for another year, so I held on to all of my packages until hitting Magnificent this morning.

I ended up with fifty-one packages, holding on to all of them after the x10 needed to progress the blue armor. I stood in front of the statue while opening them for good measure ;) Some packages contain almost six drops, some contain 200 Glimmer and a Blue. The variance is pretty broad.

Per-package drop data here.

First up, currency and materials! There's really no reason to farm packages if you're looking for these materials specifically. I consider them a nice bonus to the armor.

I’m more excited for the Hunter Rare Solstice Gauntlets than anything...

I’m one of those odd Hunters who use War Mantis Gauntlets to capitalize on mobility/resilience/recovery....essentially 90/70/90 builds (the max stats and perfect distribution can actually yield 90/70/100 stats)but the big problem with those is:

2 mod slots

Cant upgrade light level

But Solstice rare gauntlets have 3 mod slots! No longer must I choose between fast reload and fastball mod! Also, the gauntlets are basic but not trashy looking. I’m a big fan of minimalist style...so pretty happy here.

After upgrading the gauntlets to Legendary, I loaded a new hunter and re-earned the rare gauntlets.

This is just a post to round up all the β€œsecret mechanics” (can’t think of a better way to put it) of SoH armor upgrading. I’ll be updating this as I find more, but I currently feel there’s only 3 that need to be known

1.) as a previous post pointed out Dmg Confirmed that armor progress will double and triple after completing an armor set. But he was vague so I’ll elaborate further

2.) You gain X2 (and X3) by completing the first 2 armor sets and doing 1 challenge on the final set to earn a white glow. If you don’t unlock at least 1 white glow, your other characters will not get the bonus.

NOTE: DO YOUR TITANS LAST for some strange reason, titans do not award the progression bonus. Save your Titan for last to receive the x3 progression bonus.

3.) the final challenges will unlock on all sets IF you already own the final set on a 2nd/3rd character. It only has to be equipped on the character completing the activity, and

New Items on Charlemagne from Solstice of Heroes show Eververse has generated well over $1M in the last week.

Using the Item Analytics from Charlemagne and some quick math, I have calculated the approximate generated income that Bungie has gotten through the Eververse for Solstice of Heroes.

Assuming that 100 Silver = $1, since for $29.99 USD you can buy 3000 Silver (with +500 Bonus)

Item Silver Cost Number Sold $$$
Iron Severance Finisher 800 42,960 $343,680
Spelunking Shell 600 12,449 $74,694
Cabana Shell 600 4,980 $29,880
Backspin Shell 600 3,765 $22,590
Solpiercer Ship 800 65,643 $525,144

Total generated from the above items: $995,988 USD

Note: Charlemagne does not have data on the Catching Rays, Power Rising, Sweltering Heat, or Intimidating Snap Emotes, as well as the Eira's Grace or On Glit Wings Sparrows. All of which are being sold for 500-1000 Silver.

I like Solstice of Heroes 2020

I've been here since D1 Beta.

I was there for Solstice 2019 and have the gloriously beautiful Titan armor set with Arc Glows that I PAINSTAKINGLY grinded for to show for it.

Why do I like this year's Solstice? No 100 EAZ Miniboss Kills required.

For those that went thru that hell, I understand your hesitation to participate this year but i promise you...what took me personally the entire ~4 week event to get done last year I finished by this Saturday morning this year. White Glows from top to bottom. The overall grind is 1/1,000th of what it was last year.

Edit: The reason 100 Miniboss Kills was absurd was because they were Final Blow kills ONLY. I believe (with no evidence!) that an average EAZ run got you ~8-9 minimum boss kills. Assuming all three of you were evenly contributing and SECURING YOUR OWN FINAL BLOWS, that means YOU got maybe ~3 Miniboss kills per run. It was the absoulte antithesis of teamwork.

Did your heart sink after seeing that you have to complete 10 Gambit matches to upgrade the Majestic Solstice armor? Don’t worry, mind did too. First, form a fireteam on the various lfg platforms with the title β€œThrowing 10 Gambit matches for Solstice Armor Obj”.

Second, get into your fireteam and launch Gambit [Prime]. Both forms of Gambit will count.

Third, Do whatever you want during the match, but try not banking or invading to let the enemy team summon and their Primeval as quickly as possible.

extra: do note that there are more enemies in regular Gambit, but you can get Gambit Prime medals like Massacre in Prime.

extra xtra: you can focus on getting elemental kills for your other Solstice armor objectives since there will be more waves of enemies b/c you never summon your Primeval

So I'm hopefully going to be able to get all 3 solstice glows without spending any money!

Obligatory tl;dr at the end.

This isn't really important or groundbreaking, but I'm just really excited that I'll be able to buy these premium ornaments without having to shell out the 15 dollars for them.

Basically, the glows have an alternate price of 6,000 bright dust. This is a lot, obviously, enough that, at first, you'd think you'd only be able to get one, maybe two sets of the glow over the course of the event. However, I have just enough bright dust that, by grinding out every weekly playlist bounty across all 3 characters for all 4 weeks of the event, I'll be able to get 18,000 bright dust, enough for all 3 ornaments.

Each weekly playlist bounty gives 200 bright dust, and there are 2 for each playlist, across 3 playlists, resulting in 1,200 bright dust per character per week. If you have 3 characters (which I highly recommend doing now if you haven't, since you get free 1020 armor with the solstice gear) that results in 3,600 bright dust a week. Across 4 weeks, that's 14,

Solstice armor glows confirmed to be less bright than *intended*

Haven't seen this posted here yet, but the TWAB yesterday confirmed that the difference in the glows for in-game vs. what was shown in Neververse wasn't some error in the advertisement image. Rather, the actual glows were dimmer than what was intended, which is great news.

At least now, since it's an error on their list, we can reasonably expect it to be fixed at some point. That is opposed to what people on this sub were saying, i.e. Bungie would just update the advertisement to match the dim glow.

So at least one piece of good news.

(Seriously Bungie, why give a way to earn exotics from vaulted locations, but not do the same for their catalysts??)
