From the button where Troy and Abed are doing the crossword puzzle?
This is the more hirsute of the ground-dwelling doggies? (I just invented this clue.)
Both Star Trek and Star Wars fit with the other crossing clues. Pretty clever!
Apologies in advance for some self-promotion, but for any "Hades" players who solve crosswords, there has been a spate of clues about the game just within the last week in both mainstream and indie puzzle publications. The USA Today crossword on from March 15 by Mikkel Snyder and Brooke Husic had two of them; Ryan McCarty's McGrids puzzle on March 17 had one; and I wrote a "Hades"-related clue for the Washington Post Magazine on March 20. I even had a chance to write a cryptic crossword clue about "Hades" earlier today, too. I guess a lot of us like the game.

I was finishing up a puzzle which is not technically a crossword puzzle, but very similar to one, in a variety puzzle book. I am stuck on one remaining clue. It is an 8-letter word where the clue is:

Yes! Three down!
(I think I posted this joke about 4 years ago, but the oldies are the goodies)
The clue is "The better of two sci-fi franchises". The answer is... indeterminate. But all of the intersecting clues work either way.
Douglas Hofstadter would love this.
I'm aware they are not really a thing In German, but as a fan of English cryptic crosswords (like you see in The Times or The Guardian) I thought I'd try my hand at writing a cryptic clue in German for a puzzle game I'm writing. I'd be interested to know if it makes any sense at all to a native German speaker. UPDATED: here is the clue with everyone's feedback included:
"Das Mondyak ist ein kurioses Tier. Auch wenn es grösstenteils verwirrt ist, kann es Strom erzeugen!"
(Here's the clue as I first posted it for reference: Das Mond-Yak ist eine kuriose Tier. Wann es meistens verwirrt ist, es kann Strom erzeugen!)
I'd post the answer as a spoiler but that's not possible in this sub, so I'll let people have a crack at it first then put it into a comment later if there's any interest.
