I’ve read that in early hunter-gatherer civilizations, people would work & sleep in shifts. Some were awake during the day, some at night, and some in between. This was to ensure the safety of the group, and likely to maximize productivity as well. This seems to be why humans have evolved to be either “morning larks” or “night owls”.
Since these traits still exist in humans, our societies should reflect this. Many people I know are total night owls, and find it very difficult to get out of bed & function at the hours that society demands. Yet they are full of creativity, energy & drive at night, firing on all cylinders & getting some fantastic work done. I believe that if society were to operate in shifts, many of these types of people would choose to work at night & sleep in during the day. There are some jobs that offer night shifts but there are not many, and there are basically no options for dining/shopping/activities/etc late at night.

I imagine most rioters would justify their outrage by saying they're tired of unarmed men, especially black men, being killed by police at an alarming rate. But this is not supported by the data. In fact, the opposite is true.
>The number of deadly police shootings of unarmed people has generally declined since 2015 even as the tally of fatal shootings by law enforcement is on pace to hit nearly 1,000 for the fourth year in a row, according to data gathered by The Washington Post.
And behold, in 2019, we have even fewer unarmed shootings than 2018, when this article was published. Justified police killings are staying steady, which is not ideal, but they are not increasing.
So why the widespread misperception of unarmed shooti... keep reading on reddit ➡
A message to our users, both silent and vocal, questioning why we decided to go private, and wondering whether or not it was the right move:
We are completely aware that this sub is not where people are going for information/to show support for the Black community. By going private, we were telling people that instead of creating and posting memes for a day, they can use their time and energy to do something more productive donate money and show support for the Black community. It was also a display of solidarity for George Floyd and his family.
People said it was disruptive, but that’s just it. The point was to try and disrupt people's normal day. A lot of privileged people don’t even have to bat an eye at the protest, so if we can force them to notice by temporarily taking down a meme sub, then that’s great.
And don’t get us wrong, posting memes in solidarity would have been great to, and we encourage it now, but that would be missing the point of yesterday’s event. Giving resou... keep reading on reddit ➡
I'm a dark skinned south Indian guy born in early 80s. Throughout my existence, Indian people have commented on my dark skin. I've been called everything from Kalu, Kariya to African, Ugandan, Ambrose (somehow that was supposed to be a an insult). I've been asked (forced when I was younger) to use curds, milk, Fair and Lovely, Fairever, Fair and Handsome, Vanishing Cream, cold cream, etc., on my face to make me fairer
Some girls that I expressed interest in told me explicitly that they can't date me because their parents would never approve of a dark skinned guy (many other rejected me for reasons that were not this but that's irrelevant). Shaadi.com and BharatMatrimony.com profile pictures of mine were touched up by a "professional" because nobody wants a dark guy. Many women that I met through these websites also had gone through the same experience. It is funny how many similar experiences two dark skinned Indian people have had regardless of their education, wealth, etc.,

Rick Bonnell: What moved you to action to give $100 million?
> Michael Jordan: “We have been beaten down (as African Americans) for so many years. It sucks your soul. You can’t accept it anymore. This is a tipping point. We need to make a stand. We’ve got to be better as a society regarding race.”
RB: What has to happen to change racist behaviors?
> MJ: “Face up to your demons. Extend a hand. Understand the inequalities. Sure, it’s about bargaining for better policing, but it’s more. We have encountered racism to be somewhat acceptable in certain circles.”
RB: Which organizations get the $100 million? Where does that money go to address these issues?
> MJ: “We haven’t yet figured which vehicles to utilize. But it’s first about making an effort. It’s not just (donating) money. It’s the act of calling on all of us to take a look at ourselves. That’s an important start.”... keep reading on reddit ➡
That's it. That's the whole post.
Will there be exceptions? Sure. Are the vast majority of us disposable and will be sent back anyway? Yup.
Capitalism has a great system in place to reward innovators, socialism doesn’t. How would a socialist society reward innovators?
In my experience, women are just as entitled, aggressive, predatory, abusive, toxic and more. The proportion of female rapists and abusers are way higher than people care to admit. When it is brought up they fire back with the “not all women” but are perfectly happy to generalise men. I getting tired of being told to stop doing things I have never done.
This post is referencing the US. While I think that many populations and communities are marginalized and not aware of the resources that are available to them (if there are), we need to realign ourselves with a balance between the two for a healthy existence.
Many people are stressed out, barely able to make ends meet, drowning in debt, are overworked & underpaid, expected to know everything, ruled by a government that only cares for the rich, etc. Why would a life be worth living if the society you’re in constantly drags you into the ground?
Edit for context: I’ve suffered from depression and am a survivor from suicide
Edit 2: title is poor wording, I do think that mental health resources are important, I just think that targeting the source of the problem for many would be a better step. Those with mental issues caused by genetics or hormones should absolutely have access to resources.

From my times going to sporting events and seeing people start fights and argue to the riots and violence I hear about in places like Brazil over soccer teams, I've always thought these people were laughably ignorant and just flat out childish.
These people gain absolutely nothing from their sports team winning (except for bets maybe) and lose nothing whatsoever from their team losing. They most likely dont have any financial connections to their team and I guarantee not a single player even knows they exist or even cares to meet them.
However, they'll damage property, assault, and even kill other people wearing rival jersies, etc, over a team/game that they personally benefit from in no substantial way.
It honestly baffles me.
when the first season came out, many argued that it glorified suicide and was a dangerous show for at-risk teens. I gave the show the benefit of the doubt and thought they made an honest attempt at covering a sensitive subject in a new light. three seasons later, I cant believe I ever took that take. The new fourth season is literally worse than degrassi was. Its not enough to say the show is bad at this point. It has to be stated it is going out of its way to be progressive but instead misleading and predatory. It takes every serious issue high schoolers face and makes them as cliché as possible. It has almost turned school shootings, rape, murder, suicide, etc into a fucking meme. Its fine if you are going to over dramatize something (See:riverdale), but dont claim its a serious show and pretend to be woke. You are misinforming many many people and showing these issues in a useless and romanticized light.
Sorry for the long question, hope this counts as Europe!
EDIT: after all the comments about Mother Teresa I've removed her from the list. Didn't notice her name at first. The list might still include some not so good people, since I just copied the list from somewhere after skimming it through :)

When women act dysfuctionally they are typically viewed as emotionally disturbed and needing help. When men are dysfunctional they are sick and terrible human beings and should be locked up.
Just as the title says, we as a society are way more willing to confront, contend with and assist women who may not act normally, criminally or otherwise, but men who need mental and emotional help or support are largely tossed to the side.
I can't even remember where I read this now but the point was that schizophrenics used to be extremely revered but society has ended up filtering them out and doesn't consider them useful anymore. I hope I explained that well enough. Basically, for better or worse, the human mindset has shifted from finding these people valuable to disregarding them.
Let me first address my detractors and say IM NOT ADVOCATING FOR VIOLENCE
“Do you think your petty AR-15 can stop tanks and drones?”
Idk did tanks and napalm stop a bunch of angry farmers in Vietnam against the most powerful military in history?
“Even if the Jews were armed, they couldn’t have fought off the Nazis”
So you would rather have our timeline now where millions of Jews and non Jews were left defenseless in the face of tyranny. Shows your true colors doesn’t it.
Now let me get to the meat and potatoes.
The largest, genocides in history have been perpetuated by tyrannical governments.
The Authoritarian Nazis killed millions of Jews, non Jews and Polish
The soviets starved millions of Ukrainians
The Rwandan government not only actively committed genocide, they convinced an entire group of the population to turn on the minority on behalf of the Rwandan state.
An unarmed populace is right for tyranny, suffering and of course genocide.

I've done two fresh Leviathan runs this week via Xbox One LFG. Both times, the difficulty of the raid felt like it was a strike.
People are just telling me to stay still after encounters and keep saying, "Do not go to the Castellum," as they run through the Underbelly solo, and then I get magically teleported to the next encounter.
I play the runner in the Gauntlet and they're shooting the triangles before I even say anything, and they get it right every time after the first one.
They run through the Pleasure Gardens like they're going on a jog, even though it's supposed to be a stealth-based encounter. They don't even assign people to specific dogs anymore for damage phases; the dogs see us, I blink two times, and all of the dogs are down. Encounter done. Like, what?

As the country begins to move forward, what things would you like to see change in all aspects of life in the U.K.
I understand you shouldn't use your language to abuse others. But policing people's language doesn't change how they feel or what they think about what they observe in their personal lives. It just teaches them to put on a fake persona in public.
