As a dude, I’ve seen a lot of people, talk about male friendships as being “bullying competitions”, “emotionally stunted”, “toxic”, etc.
When I ask for their reasoning, I get told that men trash talk each other so their friendships are based on insecurity, that dudes don’t open up for their friends or support each other, or that it’s just a giant dick swinging contest.
I find this portrayal to be very unfortunate, and a deep misunderstanding.
I can’t speak for all men, so please don’t tell me that I am, I can only offer my perspective, and what I’ve seen in other men.
Our trash talking isn’t meant to hurt. We shit talk our boys because we know they’ve got our back and vice versa, it’s done in the intent of poking fun, of getting a good laugh, and it shows the strength of our bond.
In every single male friend group I’ve had, there were boundaries that weren’t crossed. If you trash talk your bro, and he tells you seriously that he doesn’t appreciate it, you stop. And those who conti... keep reading on reddit ➡
I see so many posts about how dumb Americans are. How all of us treated Covid recklessly, our values are nationalistic, and we have no idea how the rest of the world operates. America, by definition, has a very diverse landscape. We are essentially several countries wrapped under one federal government. We are not a one size fits all society. To approach America with a mindset of we are all the same, is irresponsible, ignorant, and lazy. Our spectrum of human beings is wide, which makes it a unique country. It’s not perfect, will never be, and has so much room for improvement. The American experiment has worked and will continue to work, even through trying times that are well document today.
Edit: SORRY, I meant the United States of America. The USA. Didn’t mean to offend our neighbors to the South.
Edit 2: Name calling is mean.
Edit 3: CA NA DA
Final Edit: It’s sad how many people personally attacked me and the US for this post. Humanity has something thinking to do IMO. So much... keep reading on reddit ➡
Background: I spend way too much time on Facebook and Twitter.
Occasionally a story comes up about the coin shortage in the United States, or some sort of new payment system (RFID chips, etc), and people comment something to the effect of, "They're conditioning us for a cashless society!" or "Just another step toward cashless society!" There's never any elaboration beyond that and google doesn't really offer much help.
It's generally the same people who are pushing baseless conspiracy theories regarding coronavirus, new world order, etc., and who a decade ago would have gone on about "creeping sharia!" (i.e. the conspiracy theory that Obama was slowly attempting to introduce Sharia law to the U.S.) and other such nonsense. Therefore I assume it's some sort of NWO conspiracy theory, I'm just curious as to what it entails for the edification of my own strange fascination with this sort of thing. Who's "they"? Where did this notion start?... keep reading on reddit ➡
Too often when a person does something bad you are expected to forgive them because...
...they only did it because they had a bad childhood...
...they had less opportunities than you and hence don't know better...
...they come from a culture where the bad action is normal...
...they are having a rough period in their life.
There is an excuse for everything nowadays.
There are so many excuses, so many reasons you're supposed to forgive everyone, that it seems like responsibility doesn't even exist anymore.
I think this is going too far.
6ix9ine is absolutely disgusting in the things he was convicted of and got away with, and I just don't think he deserves an ounce of popularity now that he's gotten away from all that. He confessed to recording and distributing a video of a man having sex with a 13-year-old girl and yet... he is literally one of the most prominent artists of 2020 so far?
A lot of the people who like him are millennials and zoomers, who I believed to be progressive enough to shut this type of shit down, yet here we are. This guy is out here topping the charts and everything he says and does is absolutely blown up and near impossible to ignore if you're someone who tries to stay to date with the newest music and media.
I genuinely don't understand it, and I'm disgusted by it. I also just don't get how he has a likeable appearance either if we're going to the more shallow part of my opinion. He's fucking ugly and has purposely destroyed his physical appearance and looks like he hasn't bathed in weeks. H... keep reading on reddit ➡
Here is what I realized recently on my 5g dried mushroom trip,
Trip was taken alone in darkness at a hotel at 12:30 am.
I fasted 48 hours before the trip and did a salt flush.
took them raw, no grind, no og, just as is.
It was extreme.
this post is my realization, advice i wrote to myself and advice that you can take if you choose too.
“win the decade not the day” one of my favorite quotes.
You must understand that we become what we think about. In our current society, slavery was not abolished it was replaced. The slavery is mental slavery. You are being controlled through your mind.
What you think you become – buddha
The world has gone digital and as 2021 approaches, we are going digital for good, say goodbye to the physical world.
The reason social media, porn, Netflix, tinder, sex and all these other vices are being portrayed at such a high rate is because they want to control you through temptations and through dopamine,.
they means the elite, the nwo. the p... keep reading on reddit ➡
Parents now are way more strict with their kids, whether toddlers or teens. You can’t just walk over to someone’s house and hang out anymore without setting up a date beforehand unless the rare case your friend has a really chill mom or dad. You can’t go out and walk around town by yourselves. Curfews are often really strict and there are way more restrictions in general. Many kids and teens spend a lot of time indoors consuming more media, playing video games, and in voice/video chats due to stricter parents and lazy parents too. Of course I know this isn’t everyone’s parents, but there are a ton of parents like this now, especially minority parents in my experience(I’m a minority and have other minorities friends and family whose guardians are just like this). College is the time for most when you can explore and discover new things without any limitation from your parents. Especially since college is now a typical route after high school, it’s becoming way more of a growing period o... keep reading on reddit ➡
Since 2014, we have seen the rise of hate and ignorance. We have seen how the Modi government has won over people so many times besides failing in crucial aspects of the country such as poverty, defence, economy, communal harmony and the COVID pandemic handling. They have made a fool out of the public, stolen crores through the PM Cares funds, helped Jio become almost a monopoly, corruption is rampant, mob lynchings and cow vigilantism is NORMAL. The list goes on and on.
BEING XENOPHOBIC, SEXIST, RACIST AND INTOLERANT = PATRIOTIC.
WHAT THE FUCK? How the fuck did we stoop so low?
They have won the elections twice, there's no strong opposition, population has been dumbed down so much that the WhatsApp forwards are held in higher regards than common sense. They went ahead with demonetization, finally built Ram Mandir, almost with CAA/NRC, disrespected the very constitution of the nation several times and as I said, the list goes on and on...Internet censorship is taking place as well... keep reading on reddit ➡
Instead of saying schools need to reopen because low income students need food, how about we start blaming a society where billionaires feed lobster to their dogs while the poor go hungry. Instead of saying we need to reopen schools for students’ mental health how about we make it affordable for everyone to get the mental health care they deserve. Instead of thinking of schools as a safe haven for students to escape domestic violence, how about we design a social work system that works better and provides kids a safe place to rest their heads at night? Instead of blaming schools for not watching our children how about we give parents the funds and resources necessary to either stay home with their kids or hire reliable child care. Schools have been the band aid of society for too long. Now that the band aid has been ripped off we’re seeing the long infected wound society has created.
I myself belong to a lower caste (according to the social hierarchy) and I deal with a lot of people being hateful towards my caste and even doing shit that you would expect from people who are too proud of their own caste. I wanted to know if their are others who deal with similar problems, so that I know, I am not alone in this.
When I say weapons in the title that includes artillery, chemical weapons, airplanes, tanks , etc. this scenario isn’t assuming that literally every nonbender gets a gun or something ridiculous like that. Just that guns are invented for use by nonbenders at some point and go into circulation.
I've always wished more fantasy books/series would either set themselves in a world similar to Ancient Greece and/or Rome, or even a civilization similar to Egypt or Ancient Mesopotamia... Having read both, I already know quite well that Malazan, and Codex Alera are based in worlds similar in look to Rome & Greece, but it would be nice to see other writers attempt to world build in less medieval environs... There are so many aspects of the ancient world that many fantasy series haven't yet explored, or used in their own worlds...

There's a r/askseddit thread about a teenaged girl telling a teenaged boy she wants to be asked for consent before she's kissed (she hasn't had her first kiss yet) and the boy is asking/telling Reddit that he feels like a toddler asking for consent so he's just gonna kiss her without asking. The majority of users are encouraging it.
Personally, I hate kissing. I've had guys just lean in and try to kiss me and it always throws me into a fight or flight mode. I'm not saying you have to ask every girl for a kiss every single time but consent should be on your mind. Don't assume she wants you. Lean into her and say "kiss me" or "I wanna kiss you" or something along those lines. I'm so tired of the trope of "interrupt her rant with a kiss" or "surprise her with a kiss" like there are so many sexy, consent positive ways to get a kiss but everyone is stuck on this "don't ask, it ruins the mood" like bro. shut up. people have bo... keep reading on reddit ➡
I’ve read that in early hunter-gatherer civilizations, people would work & sleep in shifts. Some were awake during the day, some at night, and some in between. This was to ensure the safety of the group, and likely to maximize productivity as well. This seems to be why humans have evolved to be either “morning larks” or “night owls”.
Since these traits still exist in humans, our societies should reflect this. Many people I know are total night owls, and find it very difficult to get out of bed & function at the hours that society demands. Yet they are full of creativity, energy & drive at night, firing on all cylinders & getting some fantastic work done. I believe that if society were to operate in shifts, many of these types of people would choose to work at night & sleep in during the day. There are some jobs that offer night shifts but there are not many, and there are basically no options for dining/shopping/activities/etc late at night.
If this system was p... keep reading on reddit ➡
Dinosaurs are fucking awesome and we make new discoveries all the time, especially now! We’re in the midst of a huge era of discovery in paleontology and finding out more about dinosaurs than ever before. All of which is in part due to Jurassic Park coming to the big screen all those years ago. Our idea of dinosaurs is constantly changing yet they remain these bigger than life animals that capture the imagination.
And that’s why it’s so frustrating that anything to do with dinosaurs is seen as “just for kids.” Anytime I y’all with other adults about this, they bring up things like “oh yeah my nephew is really big into dinosaurs” or “I used to know those names as a kid.” Plus you see all those cartoonish depictions of dinosaurs geared towards kids. Don’t get me wrong, I love that kids find an interest in science through these prehistoric creatures, but they shouldn’t be the only audience for them!
We should be able to ask each other what’s your favorite dinosaur without it being thou... keep reading on reddit ➡
I imagine most rioters would justify their outrage by saying they're tired of unarmed men, especially black men, being killed by police at an alarming rate. But this is not supported by the data. In fact, the opposite is true.
>The number of deadly police shootings of unarmed people has generally declined since 2015 even as the tally of fatal shootings by law enforcement is on pace to hit nearly 1,000 for the fourth year in a row, according to data gathered by The Washington Post.
And behold, in 2019, we have even fewer unarmed shootings than 2018, when this article was published. Justified police killings are staying steady, which is not ideal, but they are not increasing.
So why the widespread misperception of unarmed shooti... keep reading on reddit ➡
Personally, I'm a pretty diverse person in thought. I'm someone who leans to the right of politics in my country, I'm a part of my University's Conservative Club, but I'm also part of UNICEF. A lot of you might be thinking "well what's wrong with that? What does your political view have to do with wanting to help children?". The truth is, I've been told that I essentially have to pick sides (not by the clubs, but by people in general) and that my thoughts are mutually exclusive. I've been told that I'm not mentally well and that I have to be of a certain political identity to believe in and participate in certain events. Does anyone else feel like they're being told to pick sides on everything? Doesn't even have to political
