My fiance and I have been together for 5 years. My son is 10 and his father has never had anything to do with him. Back 3 years ago I was in a car accident when my brakes failed. It left me partially paralyzed in my left side. Thankfully I have regained most movement at this point but still have a "sticking" sensation where my left leg simply refuses to move. Therefore, I have not driven in 3 years. This is the only reason why I feel like an AH.
Despite getting a pretty large settlement from Ford over faulty brakes, we have no money left. 99% of it went towards medical bills and rehabilitation. The rest went to purchasing a new vehicle. Because of this, my son has not been able to do any sports or anything remotely fun (like sleepovers) because I cannot afford them and cannot walk stable enough to care for other kids. He also wont go sleep elsewhere because it makes him uncomfortable and gives him anxiety (he is in therapy for it because he feels like he is going to lose me after I almost died from the wreck) I feel like a shit mom because of this.
I work full time from home now though and my fiance works at an equally as beneficial job outside the home. We both make the same pay. We are finally financially stable. Well, my son came home from school with a flyer for a free afterschool soccer program that lasts 4 weeks, twice a week. I was so over the moon because I could finally have my boy do something fun. He was super excited. Well, my fiance said no. He said "we dont have time for that". Which is a bold faced lie. We are both out of work at 330, practice doesnt start until 6 and lasts until 730. I pried and asked why again. Then he said "I dont feel like driving to and from the school to pick him up". I said I would find transportation. He said "We arent paying someone to come pick him up and drop him off". Given that this soccer thing is the only thing my son has had the opportunity to do and i want him to be able to do this, I lost it a bit. I didnt scream or anything like that but I apparently pulled the guilt trip when saying "This is important to me and you are completely smashing it into the ground. Thanks for that." Hes calling me a manipulative whine ass. AITA?
The /r/soccer mod team would like to thank all the 6097 respondents to the 2020 census β and now we are eager to show you the results.
The average /r/soccer user is male, young, single, employed and educated. Overall demographics trends for Reddit as a whole stand as even truer for /r/soccer. At 96.24% of respondents identifying as such, the community remains overwhelmingly male; the past few census editions' upward trend in women's participation on /r/soccer seems to have halted, with a drop from 2.6% of users identifying as female in the last census to 2.28% now. The share of /r/soccer users that are old enough to know a divided Germany now stands at 16.91%; the one to have seen Ajax stand as champions of Europe, at 47.19%; and the one to have seen Wiltord score a 90'+3 equaliser live, at 86.42%.
The Special Relationship continues to dominate /r/soccer. As in other census editions, the United Kingdom and United States together claim the largest share of nationals (44.51%) and of residents (48.86%) among /r/soccer users. India has further solidified its best-of-the-rest position, overtaking Canada as the country with the third-most residents and further increasing its lead over 4th-place Germany among nationals. Other nationalities which can claim over 1% of /r/soccer users include the Irish, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Brazilians, the Australians, the Norwegians, the Swedish, the French and the Italians.

/r/soccer users do indeed play football. Perhaps contrary to conventional wisdom, no less than 94.11% of /r/soccer users claim to have kicked a ball at least once in their lives β even if not at a proper, officiated match. 54.21% of /r/soccer would also have you believe they have played at a football club.

My ex-husband and I had 3 children in 3 years. A girl, and then two boys. My daughter, Kara, is almost exactly like me in personality, but has genes from her fathers side in looks. My youngest son, Liam, is textbook for being born gay. I knew he was going to be gay when he was three years old, and his childhood was basically preparing and waiting for him to come out as this is not a liberal area. My middle child, Steven, was just a typical boy, into sports and cars. The kids are now 17, 18, and 19. Their father has a drinking problem and causes constant legal problems.
Steven has always complained about less attention compared to his two siblings, and accuses me constantly of favoring them and liking them more because I "have more in common with them". I even "took him out of soccer for them multiple times" and "forced him out of it for good over them", which "ruined his chances at a scholarship". I'm tired of Steven constantly acting like a victim, and we had it out and I screamed at him to stop guilting me for things he's too young to understand.
Yes, on a shallow level my daughter and younger son are easier for me to relate to because we have the same interests and compatible personalities, but the bulk of the "problem" is that they are and were demanding children. In addition to basically being Kurt Hummel in the middle of Texas (fake location), Liam has additional physical medical needs that are not cheap. The dark side of Kara being just like me in every way but looks is that she struggles with the mental health issues that I did and requires therapy and medication.
Their problems took up the majority of my time. It's true that I only went to a few of his games over the years, but it's really hard to find time to go to some soccer game when I have to go fish Liam out of a dumpster, or pick him up from having a seizure, or deal with surgeries, or talk to the police because they are still calling me about my children's father being the absolute worst, or Kara is having an episode and needs to be removed from school for the day.
With all of the other issues, my finances were at their limit. I HAD to cut something most of the time. Kara and Liam being in therapy was not optional. Liam's additional medical needs were not optional. Constant legal things due to their father were not optional. A house, food, and clothing were not optional. The only thing that was, was, well, soccer. I had thought about the possibility of a scholarship. I talked to the co

Hello to our wonderful community! As oxymoronic as it might sound, it's time for our Best Of Awards of 2020. We know this past, wretched year had little relation with the word "best", but that doesn't mean that this sub wasn't able to produce gems that deserve recognition and celebration. Plus, it's 2021, it's a new year, new perspective, new opportunities to be great.
So, without further ado, here are the categories for this year's awards:
How voting will work:
Simple! I'll submit each category as a comment and this thread will be in contest mode, so scores will be hidden. Under every category you should nominate whomever you think fits better, username, thread and link, and we'll make a note of it. If there are clear winnes will use just the upvotes of the nominations, if it's close will make a latter Voting Thread. Please only one nomination per comment and please check if your nominations have already been submitted so there's no duplicates.
Have fun!
I was really stressed because of college examinations. I decided to give it a break and watch Shaolin Soccer on the TV with my family. The film had already started and 10 mins had already gone by but I didn't feel like I missed out anything.
The comedy level here is so non-sensical and the extinction of physics they cause here just made me laugh till my stomach ached. My mom and sister were almost in tears and my dad who is a stern person also giggled hard at some of the match scenes.
And the final match... what a hilarious joyride it was ! Anything is happening ! Literally anything ! I almost blew up here. My energy was literally exhausting. It was some fun we had !
Please, if you ever feel low, watch this flick itβll just make your day ! Believe me. It made my stress vanish out of existence. Youβll also like the other emotional elements of romance and friendship which are so greatly carved. Its not like those regular Adam Sandler flicks which are not funny at all. Please do not miss it !
