Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about nicotine and why you should never ever fuck with it.
Going back a year it’s just before the start of quarantine and my roommate is thoroughly addicted to his Juul, and I wanted nothing to do with that, as I knew it had addictive effects. Then comes a party we are having and drunk me decides it would be a great idea to ask to hit it a few times, if there’s one thing I’ve found with both weed smokers, and nicotine abusers, they always share. It was in this moment I got my first nicotine buzz, literally knocked me on my ass for like 30 seconds. Waking up the next morning I immediately remembered that buzz and wanted to try it again, so sober me asked to hit it again, and boom.
This was the beginning of my slippery slope.
From here it was a downward spiral, hitting his more, getting my own, and trying many many times unsuccessfully to quit. I would be driving to buy pods telling myself that it was expensive, bad for me, any number of great reasons to not buy another pack, and yet I kept walking out of the store with another.
This is something I fight with every day, and if you haven’t ever used nicotine, don’t, plain and simple. You might think if you get a device to only use it socially that you’ll stick to it, but soon it’ll become only once a day, to only a few times a day, to all the time.
As someone trying to kick this terrible habit, take my advice never start, and never get your own device, it’ll save you time, money, and a good amount of self loathing.
EDIT: Seriously guys thank you for all the kind words, any time I’m having a bad day, or really craving I’m gonna go back through this and re read this thread. Your faith in me and kindness has really inspired me to stick to keeping off it, and for all you who shared that you’re also struggling, if I can do it so can you I believe in you all!
Why does kyle only mention the slippery slope argument when it comes to stopping people from spreading provably wrong lies like stop the steal? Does he not see that its also a slippery slope to question the results of a completely fair and free (if you dont count REPUBLICAN cheating) landslide election for joe biden? I would make the argument that thats even more slippery of a slope because what if it becomes a norm for incumbents to straight up deny election results
