SIVA only exists in small pockets around the solar system with almost no way for it to replicate, and all the old SIVA from the plaguelands has shriveled up. Almost all of the devil splicers have either been killed or they deserted, and SIVA doesn’t really tie into destiny’s story right now. Instead let’s have a season similar to season of arrivals where it teases what will happen in witch queen and we prepare the house of light for war.
Just as the title says, more kinetic/energy/heavy Siva based weapons. For example a sub machine gun that attaches void based Siva nanites that make the infected individual more susceptible to void damage, and so on for other elemental damage types. I love the look and ability of Outbreak Perfected but don’t want the legendaries to be as powerful or broken either. There’s a good batch of lore to draw from and can diversify our weapons further.
As for making an infected target more susceptible to the base (void/solar/arc/kinetic) it shouldn’t be stronger than rampage/swashbuckler/vorpal or last longer than rampage with rampage spec. The last thing we want is an overpowered weapons group that is the only thing used in game, however powerful enough to be considered for a lot of the content, endgame or not.
Throw in some more ideas below and maybe we get some more cool Siva based weapons and maybe some armour as well!
Happy hunting to the best community on Reddit!
I will be using only evidence from d2.
#1) Since vanilla d2 if you stand by failsafe long enough you’ll get this line,
“accessing node 9875A. File header SIVA project. Files locked behind Epsilon Beta encryption ‘A’ ‘D’ and ‘G’. No decryption schema found”
Most assumed this to be a little Easter egg or a leftover from cut content given the SIVA concept art for Nessus.
#2) In season of the drifter Eramis tries to break into the old tower to steal Outbreak Prime (now Perfected) to regain access to SIVA and use it as a weapon. This one is very on the nose.
#3) THEORY Season of the worthy had us defend zones with the option to print a heavy frame. Rasputin had lost connection to the SIVA replication complex however as long as he has some he can likely use SIVA to replicate and create more SIVA. Unless Rasputin has access to a second technology developed by Clovis that can spontaneously reprogram nanites into needed constructs, the heavy frames were likely printed from SIVA, albeit a version Rasputin controlled.
#4) THEORY I’ve had people disagree with me on this before but this just seems so on the nose to me. Atraks-1 creates duplicates of herself spontaneously, drops a nanite swarm on death which is a main mechanic, and has her theme titled REPLICATE all while in a top secret Clovis Bray research facility. These nanites also bear a striking resemblance to a purple strain of proto-SIVA called fortitude 3.1 which makes sense since it seems that the Bray that would complete the final version of SIVA was still working on it at the time of Clovis’s death. While this is just speculation, I would say that Clovis would probably try to exploit the various proto-SIVA strains for his exo project before resorting to vex milk.
BIG SPECULATION) Another wrinkle is Taniks. When last we saw him he was infested with SIVA and suddenly it took a very long time for him to get resurrected. I believe that he could not be pieced back together due to the SIVA inside. In the past it’s taken roughly 1-2 years for him to come back after getting killed, but beyond light would make 4-5 years since his last death. Why couldn’t he come back? One theory said before that he just wouldn’t be put back together cause his crew was either killed or ran off to the house of dusk and thus could not put him back together. The problem with this is that Eramis has been free for 2ish years and still did not revive him.
I believe that the plan to retrieve SIVA from the tower was not only to... keep reading on reddit ➡
I’m sorta new to destiny and recently started getting into some of the lore. However Siva sorta confuses me. What is it exactly? I read that it’s nanotechnology and it has the power to rebuilt things, but how does it end up becoming a weapon? Is it suppose to be some kind of virus that can infect people?
I've been thinking recently, what exactly does Siva do to organic tissue? Does it say in the lore? I know it enhanced the Splicers and changed them, but what exactly did it do? Say a regular organic person or organic guardian were to come into contact with Siva, would it be like a disease or would it change the properties of them? I know at the end of the Rise of Iron campaign, the Iron Lords were somewhat zombified with Siva. I'd just like a small explanation, if we even know.
With VoG coming back (along with many returning D1 weapons) we know that you're making an effort to bring back a lot of D1 content to D2. I get that, being Vex in nature, VoG has lore to it returning, but what if we never eliminated the last of SIVA when we destroyed the Plaguelands? I'm sure the lore writers would find a way to work it back in, because really all SIVA needs to spread is one surviving nanite.
This is a perfect opportunity to bring back some old SIVA weapons and themed armor, old Iron Banner armor, and some new weapons. Maybe even a SIVA mod system like that of Warmind Cells - both originated with Rasputin.
Oh yeah, and Wrath of the Machine. It obviously couldn't come back exactly like it was because it wouldn't make sense lore-wise. But if there's one thing at Bungie that has NEVER failed us (besides the music & art team), it's the lore team.
A lot of people have been requesting a SIVA season, and what's a season without cool mods, so I came up with concepts for some. While I think these would make good additions to the game, and hopefully give warmind cells a run for their money, this concept was mostly just made for fun, and isn't meant to be taken super seriously. let me know what you think...
SIVA TOTEM – Siva totems can be spawned in a variety of ways and have an AOE field around them that can buff players in a variety of ways. The AOE field has a radius between a rift and a well of radiance. SIVA totems remain dormant until a player walks into their radius, then they become active for 10 seconds, if they are not activated within 20 seconds, they de-spawn. They cannot be destroyed by enemies, and they do block projectiles. All Siva totem mods cannot be used in crucible.
Siva totems will look like the large Siva nodes from D1, but obviously scaled way down, to roughly the size of the sword in well of radiance.
Now here are the mods.
Generic (no elemental affinity) Mods:
SOLAR Mods (Focused on raw damage):
ARC mods (Focused on ability usage):
Title, pretty much. Found Titan and Hunter no problem. Which is the siva-themed exotic armor ornament for Warlock?
I've decided to join the fun with these simple concepts of SIVA subclasses screen. Just a little bit of poor editing to participate in the theme. Everyone on Twitter is posting arts and concepts with the #PlagueGang hashtag. This is my contribution. Enjoy!

This isn’t meant to be a deep dive, but something quick to get people up to speed. I make these lore videos as a way for new players to dip their toes in the water for destiny lore. i don’t try to compete with Byf or Myelin. this is for newer players who perhaps haven’t played destiny 1.
the video is here
Back in destiny 1 in the rise of iron campaign we had a new patrol zone called the plague lands. This place was the cosmodrome but during winter with noticeable changes. The plague lands had siva everywhere, broken buildings, and a giant hole in the wall of the cosmodrome. what happened to that? that happened to the giant hole in the wall? what happened to all the siva vines growing out of every spot you can see? what happened to the giant fallen tower on top of the entrance to the replication chamber? and why hasn't a new leader risen up to control siva? Take Aksis' place? Siva may have been deactivated but it would still be there, it wouldn't just disappear. So what happened to all that, and why is the cosmodrome back to normal?
Does nobody play these any more? I’m trying to do one for the weekly Treasure of Ages and I can’t get matched with anyone at all, I always end up timing out and launching solo. I’ve been trying a few times every half hour or so whenever I’m online for the last week and haven’t had any luck at all
