I live on my own and am single. Has been quite hard spending so much time alone and not being able to go and socialise. Just sending some love to some people that might be feeling quite lonely as I am.
EDIT: well I woke up this morning to a wash of love and advice from you all. I appreciate it and will take allot of it onboard. It’s so nice to see everyone showing love and support on this time! Stay sexy people!
There's really no other point to this post than to say that I think it's neat the top best selling PS4 games are all single player, story driven experiences. Uncharted 4 at the top, followed by Spider-Man, Witcher 3, God of War, Last of Us, and Horizon Zero Dawn. As someone who almost never plays multiplayer games, it's cool that Sony has put a lot of effort into still making quality experiences for people who play like I do. I know that while these games are successful they don't sell nearly as much as some huge multiplayer ones (COD WWII had like over 20 million sold I think) so major props to the company for investing in devs who still make these experiences. PS4 is no doubt the best console for single player games in a really long time.
EDIT: Well I didn't expect this post this post to blow up as much as it did. Thanks all for your upvotes and comments! By the way, this is the list I happened to be looking at when I made the post [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selli... keep reading on reddit ➡
This is one area I really wish Nintendo would catch up with MS+Sony for the Backwards/Old Title Capability. We should be able to get every game from every Generation on either the 3DS or Switch E-Shop and have them be Bank/Home compatible.
Its not like they wouldn't make money off of it; and I don't feel like it would hurt the sales of Remakes (when they're eventually done) that much either - after all the ability to experience Hoenn again in better detail with new mechanics was more than enough to make OR/AS wildly popular even though people played the hell out of r/S/E back in the day.
EDIT: Wow, my most popular post ever is the one where I wistfully yearn to be able to play two 8-year old games and wish Nintendo would put the Pokemon series on the E-Shop so we could all enjoy them again. Who would've thought?
The last year and a half has been hard for me, to say the least.
Last March, my brilliant and hilarious and beautiful girlfriend Natalie suddenly passed away. Everyone always gave shit about us because of politics. We met in college when were were poly sci majors: she is very liberal (think AOC) and I'm pretty conservative. We actually met because we were serving as treasurers for our school's College Democrats and Young Republicans clubs, respectively, and our groups would get together for drinks or bowling or laser tag once a month.
Well, Natalie and I bonded over a lot of shared interests and we hit it off. Even if we didn't see eye to eye on many issues, debating her was stimulating and formed the cornerstone of our relationship. We've had debates that went on until dawn. We just bounced off each other. She liked to joke that we were "drift compatible".
I wanted to marry this woman, but she passed away before we got a chance to talk about marriage. I'm in therapy and... keep reading on reddit ➡
They don't care about all life. Never have.
feels like every single action movie I’ve ever seen has the exact same scene at least once. “Oh no, main character has a gun to their head! How will they survive” and then there’s a gunshot and there’s some bullshit tension where the movie wants us to believe the main character’s dead. Does anyone, ever, EVER buy that? I know you’re not gonna kill of the title character in the first twenty minutes. And then, huge surprise, it wasn’t actually the main character getting shot but some random deus ex machina character who landed the shot perfectly and killed the bad guy. SHOW ME THE ACTION. I WANT TO SEE HOW THIS RANDOM PERSON CAME INTO THE SHOT AND KILLED THE BAD GUY. STOP WITH THIS BULLSHIT I KNOW YOURE NOT GONNA KILL TOM CRUISE TWENTY MINUTES IN. GIVE ME REAL ACTION, DAMNIT.
This is mostly directed to mostly single player games with a multiplayer mode added on such as Assassin's Creed Black Flag and the Last of Us. In Black Flags case I only have two trophies to get, reach level 55 and use all abilities for every character (I think) and this sucks. I hate the multiplayer game, not sure if the servers are still open, but for these two trophies to be the ones stopping me from getting a platinum on a game in love is beyond annoying.
Foe the Last of Us, I was willing to go foe the platinum, play on the hardest difficulty and do what needed to be done then I saw the multiplayer trophies and instantly I lost interest. I think the same is also true for Tomb Raider which is frustrating, more so because these games are single player games.
It just sucks, especially if the servers for these multiplayer modes shuts down.
Let it be known to all that Bageland2000, having been building computers since 1994, has been running his RAM in the A1/A2 slots, causing single channel and in inability to get any decent overclocks, in his $3K plus system for over two years...
Just a lesson to all, DIMM slots can be confusingly labeled. In my case, I just learned that B2/A2 are the two slots for running 2 our of 4 DIMMS. Not only has my PC been running single channel for two years, but the Samsung B-die 32GB 3600MHz kit has been forced to run at 2400MHz since I couldn't pull anything higher frequency (until now.)
But I've never been so happy to learn that I'm such an idiot.

Then check to make sure it says dual and not single like this image
So a huge problem this sub, and a lot of the playerbase, is the pricing. It's entirely valid, because it's for sure the most expensive microtransaction system in AAA titles right now.
The thing is, and I know this might piss people off, but that's why I'm saying it's unpopular..
Just don't spend money on the game. The skins give no actual gameplay benefit. They don't affect aim, don't give buffs, don't give you secret tricks or more ammo. It's entirely aestethic.
It's fair to be pissed, it really is a pricey system, and I know people who play free to play games like to support the devs, because that's what makes a free to play game last as long as it does.
But for every person who stands by "I'm not buying this, the prices are insane", there will be a whale sinking X amount in per week, or just buying a bundle every few months when they like it.
So at the end of the day, the people who are mad about these prices, simply don't have to buy. You don't have to support the dev, becaus... keep reading on reddit ➡
Currently laying in bed in my little sisters room, trying to make myself tired enough to fall asleep. I get married tomorrow to my best friend and the love of my life. COVID & a rainy forecast have drastically changed our plans, but I’m still ecstatic to marry him.
I haven’t lived with my parents for nearly two years but decided to sleep here for a “last hurrah.” It was bittersweet to sit on the couch before bed and laugh at stupid videos with them one last time.
Today was one of those days where life seems to slow down & you can fully appreciate all that’s brought you to where you are, and anticipate what’s to come.
There’s not much point to this, really. I’m just grateful.
EDIT: yes I know I’m not single. I figured that’d be the best word to keep the title short, and I’ll no longer check “single” on forms - I love him so much that having our relationship officially recognized means a lot to me. Also, my relationship with my family is NOT changing, but this particular c... keep reading on reddit ➡
Recently, I have been seeing many posts suggesting that it's only one of these issues. There can be multiple issues (and multiple solutions) to this problem.
I want to start by explaining why I think it's a racial issue, followed by socioeconomic status, then culture, and lastly police brutality.
I think that this is an issue that goes back to the beginning of America. For centuries, Black people have been oppressed. Slavery was immensely damaging to the Black family. This is not comparable to how the Chinese were treated and how the Irish were indentured servants . Also, the Confederate Constitution specifically singles out African Negroes as slaves, not Irish people. Also, neither country was ravaged as heavily as African countries by European people. In any case, after literal lifetimes of slavery, Black folks were hit very harshly with Jim Crow Laws which didn't end until the 1950s. [The ori... keep reading on reddit ➡
Hi, r/financialindependence. I'm the guy who quit his job in the US in June 2018 with naive dreams of frugally solo traveling the world by air, frugally solo traveling North America via van camper and spending more time with my friends and family in between.
Background: I'm 40 now, ethnically Chinese guy in Texas. I started working in my early 20s after getting out of grad school. Salary varied anywhere from $70,000 to $130,000 during those 14 years or so. I live in a state with low cost of living and no state income tax, so I knew when I started that I could save a majority of my income if I stayed frugal and resisted lifestyle inflation. I live in the same starter home I bought around 2010 and drive an old Camry. I did a bunch of set-it-and-forget-it buying of large cap US index funds and Berkshire Hathaway and I did some individual buying of large cap bank and technology names before and after the Great Recession ten years ago.
I spent my first year in Thailand, I accepted a non-p... keep reading on reddit ➡

Graphics can make a game better. But I've never disliked a game because of them. Even playing something like Pilotwings64 for the first time in 2020. It looks janky as hell, but the game is fun so I kind of appreciate its look. Any game with bad graphics I don't like is actually because of the gameplay and not the graphics.
Reminds me of work from Japanese marketing academic Kano. He argued a product's features have 3 attributes.
Basics. Not having this quality causes dissatisfaction but perfecting it does not increase satisfaction.
Proportional. The better the quality the more satisfaction.
Bonus. Not having this quality will not make the customer dissatisfied, but the better it is the more satisfied the customer.
I thoroughly believe graphics are actually a bonus factor to games, but often treated as a proportional factor. Certainly for me (and I suspect many others), the only proportional quality in games is the gameplay.
I think that the improved crafting system is the best thing Fallout 4 gave us. With the previous games, the crafting was very limited to specific items that had to be memorized or listed IRL. Like the doctor's bag requires scaple, forceps, medical brace, and surgical tubing. Trying to remember which item you have in abundance at home base can be difficult. I'm hoping the next fallout gives us old school RPG elements like the skill points and no voiced dialogue with better speech choices. One can hope
People will only realize how bad the drop rates are when they see the 0.00001% chance at a good player on paper.
We all know 97 Luis Alberto doesn’t show up as frequently as 97 Ben Yedder, this maybe is fair, but we should have access to data showing us what the chances exactly are.
The pack odds we have right now are not specific enough at all.
Edit: the person you want China to know the location of has to be within ear shot and the knowledge of the person's location does not persist if the person moves away from where they were at the time of you yelling.
I lost use of my left arm when I was as very young. I have been building PCs since I was a teenager. Having taught myself to build PCs one armed I have always had a solid understanding of why things need to be assembled a certain way, not just how to assemble them. This led me to be able to help others learn as they struggled in tech school and subsequently helped me teach less experienced technicians when I used to do desktop support. To this day I still build and upgrade my PCs one armed. Usually a build takes about an hour.

Each perk costs 100/150/200 Perk Coins to upgrade. You get 1 perk coin by scrapping a Perk Card. If it's a golden card you get 5x the reward. I scrapped literally everything I owned, including every equipped perk and spent the perk points I had spare to scrap more cards. I think I had roughly 1500 total coins for scrapping everything. link to 3 fully upgraded perks
And the perks did literally nothing.
Both the grind for these perks is awful and the perks themselves add nothing to gameplay.
On top of that each upgrade only adds 10% to each explosive perk. 20% chance to cause an explosion AFTER I kill the thing is not a good perk.
This is a disaster. Hopefully they see the feedback and can make changes somehow.
