This is actually question my daughter posed and Iβm pretty stumped. She asked how, if two people with (letβs say) perfect pitch sing a song, how is it possible that we can still tell who is singing when the notes would be identical?
Note: I know absolutely nothing about music, but figured this was the best place to ask for her.
Edit: Wow, many of these answers are incredible! I had no idea this would receive such in depth and thoughtful feedback. I have learned a huge amount. I was not exaggerating above when I said I know nothing about music (I donβt even know what pitch is - just quoted my daughter on that) and Iβm grateful to those of you who took the time to help me learn.
Hi, Iβm Barry Gibb. I used to be in a band called The Bee Gees with my brothers Maurice and Robin. Iβve dedicated my new record to them and Iβm very proud of the music weβve created. My new album is a collaboration with some of my favorite singers of all time. [Singer] "Michael Malone, very, very sarcastically, on how he motivates Nikola Jokic to score. βI locked him in my office one day and I beat him with a pillowcase full of soda cans..β
Jokic is definitely one of the most unselfish stars in the league and this unorthodox method seems to be working for Coach Malone. Through the first 14 games, Jokic is scoring much more per game than previous seasons with excellent accuracy.

Green is proving to be our best off-season pick-up in ages and his chemistry on the court with Jokic already seems great. He's such a good fit for this team. High praise for him from the Joker.
To wrap up the OT7 appreciation series, here's the one for our winter bear Tete!
While Jin might be my ult bias, and the other 6 members have bias-wrecked me from time to time, in recent months Tae has been working his way up the bias wrecker list and has now firmly taken the top bias wrecker spot.
At the beginning, I'm not sure why but it took me a while to warm up to Tae. However, the moment I knew he was my bias wrecker was while watching his live performance of Singularity. The combination of his deep, velvety voice riding on the soulful backing track, his facial!!! expressions!!! (in particular this part where he opens his eyes to the beat and just stares seductively into the camera like he's staring into your soul π), his ability to be hot, innocent, brooding and sad in one performance, the way he oscillates between hitting sharply and melting fluidly into the dance moves, and even the way he uses those beautifully long and slender fingers?? - he has so much charisma and pulled me in like a moth to his bright, burning flame, making me so, so weak.
Part of his charm to me, is that he knows how to play with the audience, rile them up and drive them - well, us - crazy (exhibit A) (exhibit B - unbuttoning his blazer AND the lip touch? how did ARMYs watching that live not fall to the ground in shock) (exhibit C). Whenever he dances, I notice that he changes his parts the most, like in an almost more laidback, "yeah, I know I'm cool" way that makes watching him so fun and engaging. It's clear he has become so much more confident in performing and expressing himself on stage, which is a beautiful - and often deadly - thing to witness.
Side note: not really performance related but my god his editorial photos and Vcuts? I read a post on twt that models should be thankful Tae chose to be an idol, because the range of poses and expressions he showcases each time? Absolutely breathtaking.
And lastly, Tae's songwriting skills, especially his SoundCloud originals and Blue & Grey, have captivated my heart. There's this air of sentimentality that he incorporates into his songs that I love. When Tae gave spoilers of the songs on his mixtape (mixtaepe? :D) during the Caraoke in one of the

Discuss it all live here!
So I started listening to kpop and specifically BLACKPINK in early 2020. I searched out live performances because I was curious how the girls sounded live. And straight up every performance I saw of RosΓ© sounded great!
But then Iβd go to other videos about kpop vocalists and such and there would be tons of comments about how rosΓ© canβt sing or sheβs using a fake voice and I was like where??? Everyone was saying how Jisoo is much more stable but I thought they are both quite stable.
Then I watched the MR removed video....really? People really believe this is accurate. It was so clearly edited with none of the long form video sources linked. Itβs a pretty shitty way to determine if someone is good at singing.
So then I dug deeper because I couldnt let it go and I found one performance rosΓ© did with other kpop idols where she missed her high note, back in 2017. I could see what people were saying.
But itβs not 2017 anymore. RosΓ© sounds damn good live now. She may have been a little lacking when she first debuted but she has improved a lot and I donβt get why people refuse to see it. The girl can sing and has the best technique in her group. Sheβs not the best kpop singer in the world, of course, but sheβs good. You not liking her voice doesnβt mean sheβs a bad singer, you just have different tastes and thatβs fine.
Give the girl some props! She has improved her singing and I so sick of the comments downplaying her abilities because she was a little shaky 3 years ago! And the fake voice comments are especially stupid, they donβt even make sense and it annoys me so much.
