Is the end of the scandal arc supposed to be a nod to the "Shibahama" rakugo story?

I know, super random question, but I just saw episode 39 of Gintama' and the ending really reminded me of this story, which was featured in Season 1 of Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.
It was pretty similar plot-wise and had the same feel, minus of course the punchline, which hit me even harder since I remembered how much I was moved seeing it in Rakugo.
Was wondering if there as something more to it.
PS: watch Rakugo, it's really great. both seasons.

My Eizouken anime opinion/review

This show (haven't read the manga beyond it) is not just a wonderful celebration of imagination and creativity, but so much more. Though even just talking about the former: The effort put into bringing Asakusa and company's marvelous daydreams to the screen is impressive, with so many details that you'd need to pause to catch them all and a unique yet consistent and high-quality style - not to mention their sheer volume. The magical-realist way imagination and film blend with reality throughout the show then goes one step further to really make us feel the process of developing, refining, and finally showing off spectacular worlds of fiction and impressive animated action, and how ultimately they're still an outgrowth of our perception of reality. How the two Eizouken creatives find inspiration from such simple things as going outdoors or the everyday motions of the people around them also reminds us that creativity isn't some mysterious magic - all it takes is letting your mind wander and the ideas flow. The results may not always be perfect, or even good, but the courage to accept that and keep going anyway is also part of what makes a good creator.

It unusually gives a sympathetic voice to both the creative and administrative/promotional sides of professional creative projects, depicting their eternally shifting balance with nuance and care, and does not hesitate to address the other difficulties that can arise in creative projects either. Greedy/clueless businesspeople forcing unreasonable compromises on enthusiastic artists is of course a perennial and universal complaint, and Kanamori is nothing if not greedy, but she is also simply a realist who, while her top priority is naturally the current project's success, genuinely cares for her fellow club members as people as well. No matter how wonderful the concept, there are deadlines to be made, budgets to keep balanced, and without a proper plan and equally importantly an audience, any large creative project is likely doomed to fail. To keep all that on track, as well as help the team weather any difficulties coming from the outside world, and perhaps bring a proper team together in the first place, a no-nonsense arm-twister like Kanamori is actually perfect. And even the creatives on their own can run into trouble occasionally: To realize a vision that outstrips the capabilities of any individual person or group, key elements are clear, regular communication, mutual trust and reliability, and once

As 2019 draws to a close, which story event/s released in the Global server so far is/are your favorite and why?

Mine has to be the Detective Karen event and the recently released Shibahama Christmas event because they both feature cute, wholesome interactions between certain members of the 99th Seisho class and their kouhai from the other schools (moreso with Nana and Yuyuko in the latter). Individually, they're my favorites because:

Detective Karen:

  • It's a cute, fluffy slice of life mystery story (even though the culprits were obvious)

  • Mahiru was in onee-chan mode the entire time for Shiori's sake

  • The exchange program with Siegfeld was an interesting and more friendly contrast to the exchange program Seisho had with Seiran from the 2nd stage play

Shibahama:

  • Wholesome Yuyuko and Nana bonding and interactions (they're an unlikely pair, but DAMN do they have good, cute Bananice chemistry together)

  • Yuyuko character dev (it's better appreciated after reading Chapter 9...but Global doesn't have that yet for some reason :/ )

  • Banana and Yukko performing rakugo onscreen :3

[Spoilers] Review/discussion about: Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen

MAL Link: Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen

Genres: Drama, Josei

Legal Streaming: Crunchyroll

Prologue: Just a dude looking to get better at reviewing/analyzing anime. I hope you enjoy the review and the discussion that follows! Critiques are welcome.

It’s not every day that we get to witness history in the making.

Take the first season of Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. As critics such as myself agree on, it is nothing short of phenomenal. The drama, the maturity, the writing, the execution. That first season redefined what anime as a medium is capable of. Greatness incarnate.

So, understandably, the sequel here, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen, not only has the difficult job of concluding this tale but also maintaining that same level of excellence. The big question, then, is: did Rakugo Season 2 make history?

Suffice it to say, it did.

STORY

Taking place ten years after Bon’s personal recount on the origins of his life and the art of rakugo that guided him, Rakugo Season 2 instead looks to tell the tale on the ending of his life and where rakugo ultimately goes from here. With this mirrored approach, the series finds itself right where it wants to be: within a narrative rife with strength.

Nearly (if not every) episode has at least one downright major moment that grips the audience with its care and its purpose. In episode three, Yotaro berates the gangster boss as a declaration of his love for Konatsu and Shin. In episode five, Bon collapses on stage after witnessing Miyokichi in the surrounding smoke during his performance of β€œHangon-ko” which in turn leads to Sukeroku finally (and briefly) speaking to him for the first time in his fever dream.

But no doubt two of the most incredible moments occur in episode seven and episode twelve. Episode seven features the amazing plot twist predicated by the entire first season and Bon’s perfect storytelling. Therein, the audience learns that he lied about the night of Miyokichi and Sukeroku’s deaths, forcing everyone to reevaluate this man and his character. Episode twelve does something similar. It drops the bombshell that possibly, maybe Shin is the biological son of Bon himself, wracking the audience with one last morsel to interpret.

These awesome moments occur again and again
