I've been doing keto for ages and only figured this out yesterday....but some shellfish have carbs. I always assumed all animals had no carbs. (My small portion of octopus last night had 10g carbs)
Shrimp/prawns/crayfish and most crabs don't have carbs.
But squid/octopus/mussels/cuttlefish/oysters/clams/lobster etc do have carbs. Some more than others. So just a heads up :)
Scroll down on the link and find the table with some examples. https://thepaleodiet.com/believe-shellfish-contains-carbohydrate
Good luck everyone on their journey!
#Come on guys.
We don’t require food / recipes posted to be completely kosher as not all Jews keep it, but posting pork or shellfish is very clearly not allowed (rule #4) and should be common sense. There is no masquerading pork as “Jewish food”.
And if someone DOES post pork/shellfish, use the report function. We have 3 moderators, one of us will get to it pretty quickly, but we don’t watch the sub 24/7.
I am sick and tired of going to restaurants and paying good money for their food, only to find I also have to work to separate any inedible shells from the food. I don't want to dig and pick to get all of the meat out of the shell after it's already mixed into the dish. That's something that should have already been done in the kitchen before the food was cooked. Shells should only stay if they serve some sort of purpose, which they almost never do.
I just moved to Savannah and I'm trying to dig for some clams/get some oysters. I'm assuming there are oysters there because of the name but if anyone knows if there is good place for clam digging I'd appreciate it. Is there non boat fishing in the creek? Also shouts out to Savannah lovely city with friendly, helpful people.
