I've used Nioxin (hate the medicinal smell though) and other shampoos with biotin, and I really can't see any benefit. My new hairdresser just recommended Zenagen, but I can't find any science behind it. At $10 per ounce, I'm reluctant to try yet another shampoo. Has anyone found a good source that evaluated these types of shampoos, and rated them based on health or success? Thanks to all for your help!!
I spent far too much time on the internet today searching for βthe right shampoo.β Reading all the 1, 2, and 3 star ratings. Looking at all the ingredients. Talking it over with my daughter who doesnβt understand. Then I thought let me take it to the community that would understand and may have tried many different shampoos. Iβm looking mostly at DHT blockers. Is it really worth spending $50 plus dollars for shampoo? What have you tried and did it help. The only thing Iβm doing now is adding rosemary oil to my OBX Biotin and Collagen shampoo.
Background: hi, I (27F) have been seeking solutions since December 2020 for my diffuse hair thinning. Iβve been to the dermatologist and obgyn, spent so much $$$ on lab work, tried spironolactone and bc, still nothing helps and no diagnosis has been given.
I did try Nioxin shampoo for at least 2-3 months and it didnβt help. I am taking Nutrafol which has helped my hair grow in length, but the shedding amount is somehow about the same. Currently also trying minoxidil foam again for the past 2 weeks.
TLDR: aside from Nioxin, what shampoos do you recommend for female hair loss? TIA!

I have long, thinning dying hair if my hair type matters. It's not as thin as others since I've had a big head of hair my whole life, but I'm pretty sure I'm close to being SUPER thin.
I have been thinning on one side of my head forever but just noticed it starting A LOT on the other side now, with a bald patch and the same thin strings in front that I have on the other side. It's horrible, I'm losing the front of my hair and every shampoo I've tried makes my hair feel awful. I'm starting to go gray a little too so the texture is becoming even more coarse.
Iβm experiencing a lot of hair loss and noticeable thinning. Does anyone have any recommendations of quality shampoos that may help with this? I was specifically looking into nioxin
I know theyβre likely not going to make a huge difference, but any recommendations? Iβm 4 months pp and it started within the past month for me and I hate it!
Recently I've been shedding a lot more than usual and noticed my hair is a lot thinner than it was a couple years ago, and I'm running out of shampoo and conditioner so I was wondering if there's any shampoo/cond. products that are good for growing new hair back .
And if anyone has an recommendations for moisturizers or styling products or oils that do the same thing that's be appreciated aswell.
Hey guys,
I've just purchased a ketoconazole Shampoo to use along side min and fin, does anyone know how often I should be using the shampoo for it to be effective?
Does anyone have any shampoo or hair product recommendations for all this postpartum hair loss? Every time I shower itβs like a horror movie for my follicles.
My hair has been damaged for over a year now. In 2020 I bleached it at home and then a few days later bleached it again including on the roots and may have left it on a little too long. Since then my hair has been falling out. It seems to have some breakage and the strands are thinning out near the ends but not at my scalp. I think most hairs are falling out at the root but not all of them since sometimes I see a little bulb at the tip of the fallen out hair and I also have a patch of little hairs near my scalp that arenβt super long compared to the rest of my hair. Sometimes my hair seems frizzy but upon closer look itβs just really shorts hairs at the top of my head. One day I ran my fingers through my hair ever so often without tugging and over 204 hairs came out that day. Iβm currently using Nioxin level 5 for lightly thinning, chemically treated hair and I donβt notice much of a difference at all and I think Iβve been using it over a week. I recently went to a hair stylist and she said nothing seems wrong with my scalp. Any shampoo and conditioner recommendations for hair that seems to be thinning, falling out, and breaking?
Iβm a 28 year old female, I feel like this has started since I had COVID in August. Iβve been trying OGX and nothings really changed. I know Iβve heard a lot of bad stuff about it after I bought but still decided to give it a shot. I donβt care the price I just really would love the BEST recommendations for getting fuller hair like I used to :/. Iβve tried only straightening my hair like 2 times a month to see if that helps.
Thanks for any info!!
When I first moved here a year ago (Nov 2020) I experienced some hair loss that many foreigners get. I got a shower filter and everything came back. Itβs starting to thin / fall out again though so does anyone have some recommendations for some good shampoo for this problem? Thanks
Other info: I changed the shower filter brand again recently, Iβm a man if that affects what kind of shampoo I should be getting (itβs not male pattern baldness though as I have zero bald relatives and all my hair came back after I found a solution to this problem last year. Itβs also kinda thinning everywhere and not just in certain spots. Iβm also 24).
Thanks
I always use the batiste regular dry shampoo to keep to the grease of my fringe at bay. But I was wondering whether someone uses the shampoo for dark hair to conceal hairloss. Do you have any tips on how to apply it?
What shampoo do you guys use?
I used tresemme extra volume for years, recently have switched to using Charles Worthington densifying shampoo and occasionally Nioxin. I also use Niz twice a week
Also, how do you style for max volume? I've got a routine of using toppik and batiste dry shampoo. Then a bit of matte clay and solidifying with volumising collagen hairspray. Getting some good general gains on min fin and derma too and will post an update soon
My Dermatologist recommendded I add viviscal tablets and viviscal shampoo to my daily regimen - in addition to my finasteride - for my hair loss. However, I've seen people mention lots of other supplements and shampoo (e.g. biotin tablets, nizoral shampoo, regenepure, etc...) on this subreddit. Anyone can share some of their experience/research on what's really the best supplements and shampoo - and whether it's for preventing further hair loss vs growing new hair?
Ladies who have experienced severe hair loss from PCOS symptoms, what is the best shampoo/conditioner hair products you use? I used to use this simple and organic product specifically for fine hair, but it recently discontinued the product :(
any help would be great because when I go to the store or look on Amazon, all the products have mixed reviews. Mainly looking for something that is safe and clean from toxins, and helps bring some volume to my hair which is thinning.
I want to share a beauty hack that has been working really well to disguise my thinning hair: colored dry shampoo! I just spray a little into my roots and blend with my fingers, and it makes my hair look a lot thicker.
I use Batiste Hint of Color Divine Dark but I think other brands would probably work the same. The Batiste is a dark brown shade but it blends well with my hair (black).
I've tried Toppik fibers before but I didn't like it because the fibers would shed everywhere. BUT, when I use dry shampoo, the powder typically doesn't shed unless I use a ton on my hairline right above my face. Also, I think if you brush the powder through, that would decrease the risk of shedding even more (unfortunately I can't test this out because I have curly hair that can't be brushed, lol).
[P.S. If this post seems like a duplicate, it is! I deleted my post from earlier today because I phrased something poorly in the title. Sorry about that!]
Looking for the best shampoo and conditioner out there to help stop hair loss and help hair growth. There are so many out there, but I donβt want paid influencers telling me about the products I want real people who actual have Hashimotos/hypothyroidism. I do believe my hair loss is due to a spike in TSH that was not addressed for a month and low ferritin levels (30).
Edit: I have incorporated a gluten/dairy/caffeine free diet and have started taking a prenatal vitamin, beef liver capsules by vital proteins, a probiotic, and Daily Cleanse by HUM.
Hi! One of my most frustrating PCOS symptoms is my constant hair fall :( It causes me so much stress/sadness. I don't have any balding/hair line receding, just diffused hair loss all over. Does anyone have recommendations for shampoos/conditioners that help with hair loss? Even better if it's for dry/color treated hair :) Thanks!
i have a sensitive scalp so SLS is a solid no. i was recently diagnosed with iron deficiency AND vitamin d deficiency which both contributed to hair loss and breakage. iβm losing so much hair per day and whatβs left is brittle to the core. not dry, some of it is very oily. itβs brittle.
i was reading an (((archived))) thread where someone offhandedly mentioned angel hair helped their iron deficient hair loss - in terms of doing damage control on the brittleness. iβm on the supplements and have had the bloodwork and talked to a dermatologist at length. can anyone confirm that angel hair could do damage control, at least? are there better lush alternatives?
edit; are there any lush sls free gentle conditioners too??
edit edit: does roots hair treatment have too much sls for someone in my scenario?
Iβm on accutane and my scalp is extremely dry and super flaky. Iβm not sure if itβs dandruff as itβs never been this bad before and since the accutane is drying my whole body iβm assuming itβs more of a problem with dryness. The flakes are also more powdery and white in color. Iβve heard all kinds of things about what shampoo to use but need a general consensus before i go out and buy these products. I know head and shoulders is a no as well as anything super popular like suave, fructise, pantene, tressame, etc because of the sulfates
Which brings me to my next problem, accutane is also causing me a lot of hair loss which is why iβm avoiding anything with sulfates. How should I treat the hair loss? Iβm worried about starting biotin vitamins because of the risk of cystic acne which is why iβm on accutane to begin with!
Iβm summoning all of you hair care experts, please help!! Sending lots of thanks and hugs in advance
I've been looking everywhere for the past two hours trying to find information on this but all I could find was fungal infections related.
Reason I'm asking is because the cream is way cheaper where I'm from (same percentage - 2%) and I'm trying to be as cost effective as possible.
Does anyone have any experience with it or advice on where I should be able to find info on this?
Thanks!
