Edit: Well I'll be diddly damned, so many amazing stories came from my dumb idea. So for everyone that posted their piece, and in advance for everyone that will do so: AMAZING WORK !

This is a short, and probably tasteless, tale of a husband who just had enough. I’m not normally vindictive, and after 20years of marriage and bringing up 3 gorgeous and independent kids, I had learned when to choose my battles.

My poor wife, god bless her darling heart, has had to deal with sharing an ensuite bathroom with her ape of a husband. I’m 6’ tall and 120kilos of formerly gorgeous (so I’ve been often reminded by my ring bearer) muscle and sinew. OK, I’m a fat bugger nowadays but I am going to change this year.... hopefully!!

Whilst we share the bathroom, the vanity, the toilet and the shower, the one thing my wife doesn’t like to share is the loo roll changing responsibility. That, apparently, is all down to me.

This was not something we agreed to previously. Not something discussed like adults over a nice cup of tea. This has been solely decided upon by her. This lovely nurturer and predominant raiser of our children has honed the art of leaving “one square to dab at her lady parts” down to a fine art.

I will stumble into our bathroom at 5am of a morning, thus beginning my morning ablutions before heading off to work and, lo and behold, there is one square on the roll. My body is already upset about stirring from that wonderfully comfortable bed, and is now reaching evacuation status as is it’s want at that time.

I now need to waste precious time bending over (please don’t fart) to retrieve a fresh loo roll from inside the vanity (I try to keep a 3 roll minimum in there) ready to assist with the “clean up on aisle 5” after I’ve “dropped the kids off at the pool”.

It’s not fun, and after the umpteenth time of this happening something just clicked in my head this morning. I’d had enough. Why is it always me? Why can’t she do it? When did she become the boss and I her lackey? (Before anyone says anything, I know who’s the boss in our house and it’s me... when she’s not home...aherm!!)

This morning I decided enough was enough. I left her one square where it was. I got a new loo roll out, cleaned my unmentionable parts “downunder” when I was finished, got up off the throne, washed my hands and promptly placed the new roll, and the 2 remaining loo rolls from under the sink, on top of the wall cabinet.

My darling wife is 5’ 2” and cannot reach anywhere near the top of the wall unit. She also wakes up a lot later than I do. In fact, I’m normally just pulling into the office when she heads to the bathroom of a morning.

Mother dearest is bat shit insane.

It was a bit of a ride when I got married. Husband is British, I’m Australian and we live in England. Hence all my loving and crazy family came from oz for the big day. I’m one of four kids and my family are breeders, whereas husbands family is small and significantly less crazy.

They all came in dribs and drabs for our December wedding, leaving the warm tropical Aussie climate for -3 Celsius and freak December snow.

Key information is that my mum fucked off when I was 3 because she was tired of being a mum, so I was raised by the barrel chested, swearing but adorable pirate that is my father. Mother has the emotional maturity of a toddler and genuinely believes the world, and her children adore her. We do not.

Back to the wedding and the bull shit she pulled. We’d organised events for the Australian contingent for the two weeks before the wedding but not much for after as we were going to be newly married. I don’t think I need to expand, because most people understand that newlyweds generally want to spend time together.

She arrived three whole weeks before the wedding and is annoyed that she is staying, for free, at my husbands parents house (where my brother and his wife and daughter were also staying). She wanted to stay at my house, like my sister who was my MOH. This was obviously ignored as she stresses me out, so she sat in the garden of my in laws house and pouted like a child until we left, then made passive aggressive posts on Facebook about being ignored and unloved after travelling so far (which I pettily laughed at because not a single person commented).

Wedding day arrived. I wrote on an old account about her actions on the day before and day of our wedding (namely she tried to get back with my dad who is definitely not interested, and then wore pyjamas to our wedding reception) but it is what happened after that just kills me.

She’d been staying with my in laws for three weeks. She knew husband and I were going on our honeymoon the weekend after the wedding. She then asked the day after we were married for the keys to our house as she was going to house sit while we were away.

Ya what now?

No, you are not accessing my house when I am not there. She then cries about how she booked to come to England for 8 weeks because otherwise the cost of the tickets wasn’t worth it.

Again, what?! All my other family had left the week after the wedding, except my brother and wife who instead travelled
