Ever since the conception of this sub, we've dealt with floods of reposts. We’re sure you’re familiar with them. Many are for important issues that are shared by the entire player base, while others are just for personal requests and desires for the game. The Bungie Plz was shortly implemented after conception as a central "wish-list" for all that we, the community, desired. It is completely user driven. With rare exceptions, nearly all submissions are sent in by you, the users of this subreddit!
However, just like Destiny 2, our wiki article began to experience problems as it grew over time. It's been getting just a few sizes too big. We understand that the continued addition of topics has begun to encroach on your ability to continue the conversation towards matters that mean the most to you, and even though the Bungie Plz has seen so many successes over the years, with well over 100 officially implemented game suggestions and desires, there's still dozens upon dozens of retired topics that haven't seen the light of day for many months...even years!
Every Sunday, this thread will focus on a certain retired Bungie Plz topic of your choosing, voted by the users. We will curate a list of 5 suggestions to help focus your voting process, but you get the final say on what is talked about each week. By all means, if one topic is overwhelmingly desired despite not being part of those 5 items we picked, then we'll be happy to go with that one. Our curated list is only to help you focus the conversation. The only stipulation is that the topic must be new every week. This thread is for the entirety of the Bungie Plz wiki, so no back-to-back voting!
Think of these threads as a way to keep the spark alive, and to bring old topics up to fresh light. For example, do we still want to move Queenbreaker to the special slot? Or does Arbalest serve that purpose well enough now? Do we still want an all-black shader, or do we want a character barbershop more?
You tell us! This is your conversation, guardians.
For this week, you voted on:
#Allow Exotic Weapons To Take Shaders
For next week, here are some suggestions:
TL;DR - If you want something to show off that you were around when others weren't then its time you start hunting titles. Shaders should never be made unacquire-able in a game that is finally starting to let players look how they want while also keeping the stats they've earned on armor.
Since we are able to spend mats on stuff like raid exclusive exotics I don't see how it would be a problem to have a way to get some of the shaders from activities or rare drops that are no longer available in the game to drop. Leviathon, BA, and other removed in game drop shaders come to mind.
EDIT 2: This one's a bit more important than the first edit so I'll put it here. I keep seeing people saying that "you had to be there" and that Bungie should leave stuff for people to show off. We already have that, its the Triumph Seals. Luke Smith made if very clear when Seals were added that he wanted people to have something that they could show off in the future when those things weren't obtainable anymore, and Seals/Titles are way more front and center than shaders ever will be. You want something to show off that you were around during a certain time? Go hunt down the seasonal titles, Shaders should only be a form of character creation.
EDIT: Glad to see that others also want something in game that can make our guardians more fashionable :). THanks for the awards and interaction, hopefully it helps push some ideas around in Seattle.
I'm not a game designer but, this seems like a simple thing that would be a good peace offering to the community and for people who need it for their collections?
I want to announce a project that I’ve been working on for the community. Some of you might already have seen links to it during the past few weeks. It is a website called godotshaders.com.
Shaders are great! However, during my own journey with Godot, I've felt that shaders specifically for Godot have been hard to come by, and the learning curve for making them your self is very steep.
The ambition with Godot Shaders is to offer one unified place where we, the community, can come together and help each other with anything shader related – shader code, examples, tutorials, etc. It is for the community and driven by the community. That means that everyone that feels they have a shader to share can simply submit it and have it posted directly to the site. All shader code posted on the site is under CC0-license (public domain) (Edit: MIT and GPL v.3 is now also an option) and free to use.
“This sounds great, can I help?”
Yes! The best way to help is to contribute to the shader library by submitting a shader of your own. Also, if you see a shader that can be modified or improved on, leave a comment or submit your own improved version of it. And remember to ‘Like’ the ones that you like.
Also, do you know how to make shaders for other game engines? At the moment I am working on documentation on how to convert shaders from other engines to Godot. So if you know anything about shaders in, for example, Unity, let me know :)
“OMG, not another site!”
Yes, this is a valid point. However, I think there is a gap when it comes to shaders for Godot. Shaders are such a great way to make your games stand out, and they should be a natural part of any developer's toolset. Unfortunately, I don’t think that is the case currently. So, yes, this is yet another site. But I hope it is a site that will find its purpose and fill the shader gap.
If you, like me, think it is a good idea with a community-driven site that is all about Godot shaders, head over to godotshaders.com and start browsing the growing library. And if you have a shader to share please submit it for the whole community to see. Stay tuned for more features and please send feedback if you have thought and ideas.
Thank you for your time, sorry for the wall of text!
There are a ton of amazing shaders that a ton of players missed out on such as the Black Armory ones.
I think it would be great for the game if there was a way to buy old retired shaders that can’t be earned anymore ingame such as the system with the exotic kiosk.
Perhaps not all shaders as I can imagine some players would be outraged if others could buy shaders you had to grind for, but definitely RNG shaders would really benefit that system as well.
I know most people want a shader system overhaul in general, but this would be a nice addition in the meantime while we wait for that. :)
I think I remember a tweet being posted saying that there was only a random chance for them to be offered for bright bust, and that they were supposed to be silver exclusive, however I never saw them offered anywhere in Eververse the entire season.
As far as I can remember I've never seen a specific page for silver specific shaders. If I'm wrong / mistaken please correct me!
Please remove if this is redundant, or goes against any rules!
Hello all, see the title! I'm just getting back into playing D2 after about a year's break, on a new console and everything. I spent way too much time looking to see how my guardian looks with different shaders and realizing that I can't obtain like 75% of them just because I wasn't playing at a specific given time 1 year ago. This really sucks in a game that emphasizes customizing your guardian - it's disheartening to see the "perfect look" and then realize that oops, I wasn't playing Iron Banner during Season of Opulence so I can't ever get that color.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to earn those locked shaders over time? Maybe like Xur's fated engram, Xenology quest, or something similar?
Nectar Dynamo and Rustberry, it's the last Eververse vendor reset of the season and there has no been no way to get either of these, for Silver or for Bright dust. I just don't get why they were added this season if they couldn't be obtained at all this season.
Tell me why a shader like Cryptic Insignia, which is all shades of black and grey, is blue when applied. Why does Guilded Smoke (blue grey and black) apply with gold in it. Why does Biolume (grey, black, blue, green) apply with no green accents whatsoever. Why does Nougat Delight (tan, orange, red, black) have GREEN BUT NOT ORANGE RED OR BLACK.
And above all, why is there no rhyme or reason to how the colors in shaders will apply? As in, compare Celestia and Goldjay. They both have gold in the right, blue left, blackish bottom, white/light blue on top. And yet when they apply, the accents are different colors in the exact same spots. There's no way to tell by looking at a shader in collections or your inventory what the primary color will be, what accents will be the most pronounced, or if you'll even see them at all.
ETA: They seem to at least apply the colors you're expecting on some ships, but armor is completely hit or miss.
Crucible Solemnity please?
Edit: Thanks for the support. I see a lot of people say that "You should have played when the item was obtainable and also "that will kill the FOMO stance that bungie wants to use. I get those arguments and i hope bungie will to make innovations relating to this but to be honest, Little nitpicks like this can be solved so easily and people will be happy in more ways you think.
For example: We can have a vendor that sells those type of things (Eververse, Amanda Holliday, Eva levante) such as retired shaders or sparrows, ships gear ornaments and more labeled as "Legacy Accessories". Furthermore we can have a system similar to spoils of conquest and then people won't be annoyed when the eververse engram that took time to get gives you a random purple reskined ship and 3 shaders.
I encourage you to leave more suggestions like that in the comments
Just bought the Photodraulic Actuators ornament for Synthoceps, only to find a good portion of the ornament doesn’t change with shaders. The bronze doesn’t work at all with the colour scheme I’m running, so I’ll likely never use the ornament I spent 600 silver on. It really leaves a bitter taste for the whole experience.
This isn’t the first time I’ve made a post about this but it’s the first time I’ve been actively burned by it. I don’t mind if you enable shaders in the ornament preview, if you allow ornament refunds within 5 minutes of unwrapping or something else. Just please add something because otherwise I doubt I’ll ever buy an ornament from eververse again, I don’t want to take the chance that I may just be wasting money on it.
