The mod and founder of r/sardines decided to wipe out the entire subreddit today. The subreddit was founded 6 years ago and the moderator originally intended the subreddit to be about the "game called sardines." However, over the course of many years, not a single person posted any content related to this "game" whatsoever. In fact, the subreddit was originally founded as an inside joke between the original moderator and first few users as an online game of "sardines" was taking place. backstory here
But as time went on, people used the subreddit to talk about the fish "sardines." It had an active community where a lot of people would post pictures of different canned sardines and give a review on them. It also had a lot of new people come to the subreddit to ask about how they should get into eating sardines and looking for brand recommendations. The community was unique in... keep reading on reddit ➡
I decided to go to the park to get some fresh air and exercise. I put my handy dandy mask on, my gym clothes, and out the door I went.
And y’all. I have never seen the park this packed in my life. All parking spots full. There were soccer matches going on from all ages - from tikes to adults. Sweaty shirtless chads playing basketball. The playground was FULL of kids touching everything and each other with grimy hands. Dog park was at capacity.
I was there for about 2 hours and I saw all of 3 people (including myself) wearing masks. The other two people were wearing their masks on their chins like idiots.
We are never going to overcome this damn virus and I’m so pissed about it. I don’t even know why I’m posting this I guess I’m just venting.
EDIT: If this pandemic was a group project, we’d all get F’s because some in the group don’t want to do their work and some don’t know how to read
So far, the mod has not made any contact with r/sardines users except for this: https://imgur.com/wdfOGxw

Our community was unique in that it allowed people to connect from around the world and share their different local brands of sardines.
I get that this sounds really weird and trivial, but this subreddit was honestly an awesom... keep reading on reddit ➡
I understand some new readers might have been linked here from r/sardines. I've edited settings so y'all should be able to post. Welcome and please enjoy your stay!
edit: let me know if any of you have issues with posting etc. I've never really been a mod and settings might need to be adjusted.
I don't eat them 2 times everyday, I usually eat them daily. Will the mercury fuck me up? And are they bad in excess (if eating them daily counts as excess)?
BTW the best way not to get tired of sardines is to eat different flavours, I'm alternating between oil and tomato sauce, love it.
Basically just what it says.
I had more or less ignored sardines because I because I thought they were mushy and gross, but I saw your sub from the subredditdrama and decided to try a nicer tin that wasn't like the absolute cheapest thing at the store and I liked it a lot.
So, what to you put these on? Just eat them out of the tin? I tried a multigrain cracker and that was pretty good. Give this newb your suggestions
I will begin this post with some backstory. My friend was moving, and I helped him. Among other things, he gave me some miscellaneous canned foods he didn't want as compensation for assisting him in the move. one of those cans was a can of Sardines in mustard sauce.
I had never tried sardines before, more out of disinterest than anything else. So I get home from my 2nd shift work and she is sleeping soundly. I have recently had some good things happen so I decide to celebrate by having a few beers, and want some sort of savory snack to enjoy along with the brews. the sardines immediately come to mind. I open the can, and try one of the fish. I am pleasantly surprised, it goes great with the beer! I decided to share this discovery with my wife, who is asleep peacefully.
She is not a particularly adventurous nor picky eater, somewhere in the middle. She usually enjoys things I have her try. Not this time though. "Try this", I say enthusiastically. Half asleep, she opens her mouth, and... keep reading on reddit ➡
Olá. I am currently in the process of building a European Portuguese learning channel on Youtube. If any of you would care to take a look and share feedback or leave me any questions in the comments, it would be very useful. Looking forward to help you learn my language whether you're planning a visit, to add one more language to your collection or to tell Cristiano Ronaldo you don't think he's that good. Prove me wrong
If I recall the rules correctly, it works like this:
Step 1 - one person volunteers to be "it"
Step 2 - everybody else closes their eyes, and counts to 100
Step 3 - the person who's "it" runs and finds the best place to hide during the countdown
Step 4 - the best place to hide is, naturally, the pantry
Step 5 - while hiding there, our "it" person starts to get a little hungry
Step 6 - they find a delicious can of sardines in the pantry, pop them open, and start to chow down!
Step 7 - all the other players smell the sweet scent of sardines pilchardus wafting out, and they rush in to have a bite as well!
Seriously, it's a ton of fun!

I like sardines on toast and they're good in a spead (mash them up with cream cheese, mustard, seasoning). And that's kind of it.. Seems like I'm missing recipes and I have a lot of tinned sardines left over after failing to catch 'The Rona' yet. Anyone have suggestions?
I have eaten my fair share of packaged Japanese sweets that list sardine as an allergen, primarily pastries like cakes and cookies. They don't taste like fish, obviously, so I'm wondering where exactly the sardine comes into play. I'm not a food scientist nor expert, but my theory is that they have some kind of perservative/thickening agent/ect that is derived from the fish.
Every time I play as Bobbit, when I am trying to boost forward, I sometimes accidentaly grab one of the small AI bots. This is annoying for me because its slower than killing it directly. This becomes annoying because it takes up your boost and sometimes kills the player. I also have seen a lot of bobbit players in confusion when they grab an AI bot and end up being pulled away by an orca, dying of pressure, or other things. I think it would be best if bobbit worms weren't able to grab them.
Google gives me cooked sardines and salad with sardines and other stuff but not what Im looking for.
So I tried a sardine sandwich a couple years back and absolutely hated it (way too salty). Today, I got a ramen box that includes sardine ramen from Japan. Has anyone tried one? Is it like actually sardines? I am wondering if it is worth making for myself.
I am looking to buy a tin(s) of the following brands if they are available in the RDN:
Thank you in advance!
I want to make dashi and/or some Korean soups that use sardines as a base. This involves boiling the sardines for flavor, then discarding the sardines. I’ll be using dried sardines. Can they be reused for something else? It feels awfully wasteful to just toss them.
remade two of the first animals that I added to the open ocean project
there is a 78% chance of me remaking the ability for them.
