So please excuse my stupid question, but I cannot find the answer online for the life of me (I looked all over https://dallascityhall.com/departments/sanitation/Pages/default.aspx)
I am a first time home buyer (in Dallas) - my grandparents were renters, my parents were renters, etc. Basically, I've never had to think of who/how trash gets picked up since it's all handled in apartments.
I need (I think?) to sign up for trash service? How? Who? Where? Please help.
Our youngest is a fan of all large work vehicles. I want to thank employees in those vehicles who take the time to wave at kids who watch them drive by.
8 months later and he still brings up the “firetruck wave me!”
Hey guys I ve started investing some time ago and came across a otc named $BANT.
Its a company providing services in education of handling drones and distribution.
They also supply customers with sanitizing products and robots which is at times like these more important than ever.
Thing is, the stock is in the green rn and rising quickly, I am concerned if it is even growing too fast and if it is natural and healthy growth or just a p&d.
Have you heard anything about it, do you yourself maybe invest in Bantec and if so what are your speculations.
Please tell every opinion is valid and valuable.
I rarely work outside sanitation, but the thing is I work at a very small HEB which means we are about 70% responsible for bringing in carts from the lot. Well, they put me to work out there on Superbowl Sunday and I just could not keep up with the amount of carts that were being taken...I'd take 12 at a time up there and they'd be gone in minutes.
I am a fairly small girl and every time I work outside I get offensive comments and people even roll down their windows to call me Wonder Woman or that we "need men" to push carts out there or to "not work too hard"...
It's a very labor-intensive job and I just feel dead after the shift is over. I weigh about 100 pounds. I am not a strong person. I am really weak. I want to be promoted so I can eat better (buy food) but this is just really discouraging me.
John closes the door behind us and leads us down a surprisingly clean hallway with a steel grate floor.
"See Jason, most of the time the system works just fine. Couple reports of sewer gators here and there, or some guy has a meal made of his meat and 2 veg , but that's it, reasonable sacrifices.
But this new bug, it's got the boss all screwed up. And my job Is to make sure things get running smoothly again." John says as we reach another blast door. There are two sets of thigh high boots that are made of rubber so thick I'm reminded of tractor tires.
John puts his on with a practiced deftness, I fall twice, which judging by his laughter is the funniest thing John has seen in his life.
He puts down his industrial flashlight and picks up a small electric lantern.
"Gotta keep the lights down, the equipment in here gets a little rowdy when it gets bright. " John says leading us into a massive pitch black room.
For a moment, it remains dark, I can hear noises from far enough away I get the impression of being in a cave.
The feeble lantern sputters a dim ten foot circle of light, enough to illuminate rough rock floor but nothing else.
As we walk I start to hear shuffling, scrabbling noises, and see familiar rat like faces quickly dart into the circle of light and retreat.
As I walk I notice a set of eyes seemingly fixed on me, deep reflective purple tracks me as I try to stay within the light.
I find myself staring back, and noticing it is not 2 eyes but one, narrowed and hateful orb.
"Looks like he likes you. You two know each other?" John says with a chuckle.
Something tells me he already knows the answer.
"You want a better look?" John says, malice creeping into his tone.
I near a click and the little lantern is suddenly at full blast, I can see 30 feet around me and my heart stops.
I'm face to face with the thing that crawled out of my toilet, and see dozens of similar creatures writing and slithering all around it.
What I thought was it's body, was only the head of the thing. Behind the rotted rat corpse like head was dozens of meters of snake like muscle tissue, mottled brown and red that reaches far enough into the distance I can't see where the thing ends.
It hisses as it begins to circle around me, bringing it's face close to mine. The rat itself splits down the middle revealing rows upon rows or tiny pointed teeth.
"Didn't you say light made them dangerous?" I say in a panic as the coils of the thing begin to con... keep reading on reddit ➡
It seems like the general advice on here is to leave the UB bags out of sealed containers to allow for proper GE but I'm curious if there's a large enough volume tub that I could sanitize fully, put one UB bag in, and seal that would still allow for good GE. I feel like that would ensure I'm not getting any contam over the 2 weeks my mycelium is growing (except for potential contam during inoculation). Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know how much gas exchange actually occurs during myc growth?
The canals of Venice are still essentially its sewers even to this day albeit with the modern invention of cesspits that are sporadically emptied by tanker.
Venice in the 1600s and 1700s would've more or less used this same system with sewage and other by-products of industry flowing into the water to be washed away by the outgoing tide.
Paris and London and other European cities didn't have this advantage, and all forms of waste from human excrement to animal skins to rotting food to bathwater was thrown directly into the streets. Paris got so bad in fact that it became famous for its filth. On top of this Europeans at this time were generally dirty - cultural norms inadvertently promoted uncleanliness. The majority bathed just once a year if at all and defecating in the street was a common practice. There are even accounts of people using the lobbies of the gilded Palace of Versailles to urinate and defecate.
But I've not come across similar accounts for Venice...
So were the Palazzos, rio terra and canals of Venice in a similar condition to the streets of London or Paris, covered in a sludge of excrement and other rotting nasties or was there instead a marked difference in Venetian attitudes to cleanliness in the 1600s and 1700s?
Did European visitors to Venice notice and comment this cleanliness (or non-cleanliness)?
Its not a topic or aspect of Venice that is easily Googleable or even widely discussed to be honest. So thanks in advance!
