Need a synonym for 'strictly-increasing' for physics report

In math, 'monotonously' is an an adverb to describe a strictly-increasing/ decreasing function. I realize this is not the definition of the actual word, which insinuates a 0 correlation. I just want to say that these two things are associated, strictly-increasing, but non-linear.

Anyone have anything? Cheers.

If true, why would road car manufacturers keep trying to reinvent the wheel? Planetary gears are already compact and capable of handling high torque. I'm missing something...

Alan Mosca (SID Special Paint) AMA

In the early 1970s, Alan Mosca’s late father, Cloacyr Sidney Mosca (Sid Mosca), entered the Brazilian motor racing world, but what stood out more than his driving was the compelling painting of his cars. Not long after, pilots all throughout the grid began asking for Sid Mosca to paint theirs as well, and soon SID Special Paint was born.

Located close to the Interlagos circuit in São Paulo, SID Special Paint earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship in automotive painting, but it was a client’s request that ultimately propelled it into its most iconic line of work.

In 1974, they were approached by someone who insisted that they paint their helmet. Given the complexity and difficulty of the work involved, Sid agreed, but decided to charge a hefty premium for the work. Not only was that insufficient in deterring that one client, but soon many more requests began to come in, and within a short time SID had a presence in Formula 1 as the painters of Emerson Fittipaldi’s helmet.

From that day on, SID Special Paint has partnered with many F1 drivers, such as Nelson Piquet, Jackie Stewart, Rubens Barrichello, and many, many others. They even had a hand in painting some F1 cars, including the only Brazilian-based constructor in F1 history, Copersucar, and a 12hr restoration work on Mario Andretti’s Lotus after a fire during a practice session, for which they earned a special commendation from the team.

But undoubtedly their work with Ayrton stands out above the rest. Alan recalls taking their family car from the shop to the nearby Interlagos circuit to watch some racing and reporting back that there’s “some guy named Ayrton” who looked mighty quick on that track. And one fateful afternoon that scrawny “guy named Ayrton” approached them to have his helmet painted. The rest, as you’d say, is history. The yellow helmet with green and blue stripes would become synonymous with Ayrton Senna and arguably one of the most iconic symbols in all of motorsports, undoubtedly becoming their most famous work.

After his father’s passing in 2011, Alan now runs the family business alongside his daughter, Stella Mosca, and continues to partner with amateur and professional drivers all over the world on custom designs and the sale of replicas of some of their most iconic work.

Alan will be here to answer your questions on Saturday 9 PM GMT, so send them in.

<SPOILERS> Vivi Will Return To The Straw-Hats

Vivi's Hidden Potential...

...

By Aku-No-Hana2. Find it on DeviantArt: A. Pujadas

PROLOGUE

Vivi is counted as an Ex-Official Straw-Hat on her Vivre Card. Although she did technically leave the crew, Luffy and the rest still consider her a Nakama. So after reading about what King Kobra was planning to say at the Reverie, I started to have a bad feeling and it only escalated after chapter 956 titled "Big News!". In this post, I'll be discussing my theory on why I believe Vivi will return to the Straw-Hats as an official member and her role in the story after Wano.

CHAPTER 1: THE NEWS

The Straw-Hats are currently in Wano and have no way of communicating with the outside world. The news about the Reverie hasn't reached their ears yet and the only people who probably know are Marco, Nekomomushi, Izo, Kaidou, Big Mom's crew, and X-Drake. The likely hood of any of these breaking the news to the Straw-Hats during the war on Onigashima is 0 right now. But after Wano concludes, I believe Marco, Izo, and Neko will probably deliver the news to the Straw-Hats.

Now, what could the news possibly be? Let's analyze further. Chapter 956 Starts with a one-week time-skip after the Reverie; with Garp having a chat with King Neptune. He talks about how the Reverie is always about competition between countries over resources than a meeting to discuss the betterment of the world. Though the nations of the world duke it out in the meeting, there is never blood-shed. This time, there was blood-shed. Garp states that after the Reverie ended, an incident happened regarding the Alabasta Kingdom.

Judging from Garp's tone with Neptune, we know it's very serious.

The next page cuts to Big News Morgan saying that 3 big events happened at the Reverie:

 1. There was a death.
 2. The results of the meeting: The Abolition of the Warlord System
 3. The death was an assassination.

The world government was trying to censor 1 or more of these topics, as a member of CP0 Snuck in and tried to make a deal with Morgans to remove the news. When Morgans refused, they retort to silencing him. This tells us that the world government is trying to hide something big, something they can't afford to

Guy abused me and never faced any consequence. Please help me fuck him up.

Two years ago this John Doe took advantage of me being intoxicated. Before anyone goes "it's not rape if you're drunk", I did try to fight back, I did say no and all that stuff, the alcohol just made it a lot harder.

I did not have the guts to report John Doe, and fell instead into his manipulations. He would say stuff like "how can I live with what I've done?" and pretend he was suicidal, victimizing himself when I accused him. Being mentally unstable myself I fell for it and decide to give him a chance to redemption.

After finally taking my distance I realized how little of a person he was, and that he never really gave a shit about what he did and the consequences it had on me. Unfortunately it is too late to take legal action, and during the period I have been under his influence I have acted in ways that would put most of our aquaintances on his side.

I know the best way to get over this is probably to go on with my life and try to forget about it, but I haven't talked to him for a year and I still have nightmares and a fucked up sexual life. I feel like I might not find peace until he pays for what he has done.

I have messages in which he admits what he has done, but I'm scared that if I publish them he will fire back and expose some of my very intimate secrets that I've made the mistake of telling him. I am also scared of people taking his side, cause he really made sure that all our common aquaintances know me as the crazy one. Do you guys think there might be a way to fuck him up or should I just lose my hope?

Edit: forgot to specify, yes, I'm in therapy

YSK there is a growing body of research that suggests the risk of dementia can be reduced by up to 40% simply through lifestyle choices.

Disclaimers up front: first, I am not a medical professional. Second, in researching this I learned “dementia” and “Alzheimer’s” are not synonymous. Alzheimer’s Disease is simply the most common form of dementia. There are other, less common forms, such as vascular dementia.

I was first introduced to this idea by seeing this article on worldnews. At first, I was skeptical. I’ve seen a lot of pop-science articles that are more “pop” and less “science.” But this article was about a study that was co-authored by a very well-cited professor and building on an existing body of research from 2017. Which is what legitimate science tends to look like.

Ok, enough stalling, there are12 lifestyle factors that have been shown to increase the risk of dementia. So here they are, in decreasing order of impact:

 • Hearing Loss – loss of hearing in middle age is linked to higher incidence of dementia and is the biggest risk factor of the 12. Wearing a hearing aid has been shown to effectively offset the dementia risk from hearing loss.
 • Lack of Education – reaching a higher education level before 45 is correlated with a reduced risk of dementia.
 • Smoking – smokers have a higher rate of dementia. Stopping smoking, even with subjects over 60 years old, has been linked to a reduced likelihood of developing dementia.
 • Depression – depression is linked to higher rates of dementia. It is currently still unknown whether treatment with antidepressants can effectively combat this, as studies don’t always make distinctions between treated and untreated individuals. (Edit: I know depression isn't fully under someone's control. Not all of these factors are.)
 • Social Isolation – More social activity, especially later in life, has been shown to lower the risk of developing dementia.
 • Traumatic Brain Injury – Concussions and other head trauma has been shown to increase the likelihood of developing dementia, especially if they happen later in life.
 • Air Pollution – higher levels of certain air pollutants have been shown to increase dementia risk. Much of the pollution examined is generated by more traffic and automobile use, though another common produ

A comprehensive Jehovah's Witness speak dictionary.

The further I get from being mentally in the harder it's getting for me to remember the new speak that JWs employ. I decided to document everything I can remember and figured I would make it public in case anyone else can contribute or make use of this.

I really want this to be as accurate as possible. So please call me out if I am making any assumptions, if anything is incorrect, outdated, or misrepresented and I will change it. I want someone who has never heard of JWs before to be able to use this as a reference to understand what they're saying.

New words and phrases:

 • Anointed - Exactly 144,000 people will be faithful enough to go to heaven when they die, they are called the anointed. They are hand selected by Jesus. "Can you believe Sister Smith is one of the anointed?"

 • Babylon the Great - Synonym False Religion. All religions that are not JWs, especially other Christian religions. Can also refer to practices deemed pagan. "I used to be Catholic, then I got out of Babylon the Great."

 • Bad Association - Negative connotation. Anyone who is not a JW, or is a JW but does not live up to your standards of spirituality. People you should not befriend or spend time with. "We used to invite Jimmy over for pizza nights, but based on the movies he watches he's bad association."

 • Bethel - Usually the world headquarters in New York, sometimes a branch office in a specific place. "We are visiting Bethel this weekend, then going to Canada Bethel next weekend."

 • Bethelite - Someone who volunteers for Bethel. Either physically at a branch office or over the internet. "I cannot wait to hear the Bethelite's talk."

 • Branch Office - Local headquarters of JWs assigned to specific countries. "We wrote a letter to the brothers in the Mexico branch office."

 • Brazen Conduct - Anything done disrepectfully, against the recommendation of the Elders, causing someone to stumble, or having a bad attitude. Practically, a catch-all term. "We asked her to wear more modest clothing, but she didn't listen. Now we must take action due to her brazen conduct."

 • Call - Synonymous with Return Visit. A person visited again and again by a specific publisher. Typically with the goal of starting a Bible study. "I have three calls to make today." or "I reported 5 return visits last month."

 • Circuit - A group of congregations in a geographic area overseen by a Circuit Overseer.

 • Circuit Assembly - A tw

[Princess Party Entertaining/Rupaul's Drag Race/Cosplay] Wig-Gate aka Vivienne Pinay's Wig Meltdown

For some context, this story was posted in /r/rupaulsdragrace back in 2017 shortly after it originally happened. All images and text in the original post and in this post were compiled and written by me with the approval of all subjects with the exception of Michael Donehoo (aka Vivienne Pinay). I'll also take a moment to say here that I do not have any sort of vendetta or grudge against Donehoo or FTW. I'm simply someone who thinks that people, particularly those who own businesses, need to be held accountable for their behavior. I only continue to cover this story because people ask me to, and as long as I'm around and able to share the information, I will do so.

This is a long one so strap in.

PREFACE

Michael Donehoo AKA Vivienne Pinay, former contestant on the popular competition reality series RuPaul's Drag Race, is a wig stylist. He owns an online shop, Fairytale Wigs, which sells wigs and accessories meant to replicate the hairstyles and accessories of popular Disney characters, and is incredibly popular among Princess Party Entertainers and Cosplayers for its high quality products. The wigs cost anywhere from $65 for a base wig and styling kit to over $750 and beyond for more complex styles. This beautiful Cinderella wig is an example of the quality one can expect from Donehoo's shop.

The main subject of this post, however, is their Rapunzel wig, which as you can see here, is meant to replicate the braided hairstyle worn by Rapunzel in the film Tangled. Please note the wig does not actually come with the flowers in it, but the flowers are usually put into the wig by the wearer since Rapunzel wears flowers in her hair when it is braided.

Some clarifications that may be helpful to you before I dive in:

FTW: Fairytale Wigs. I use this interchangably with Donehoo's name but they are one and the same. Donehoo is the owner and, to my knowledge, sole (or at least primary) proprietor of the company.

Wefts: In this context, when we say wefts we are referring to the elastic bands to which the hair fibers are sewn to create the wig. This is an example of what wefts look like. Wefts should not be visible when the wig is wor

Assassin’s Creed China and Japan are Coming Soon

The discussion around when Assassin’s Creed will go to China and Japan never stops; and rightfully so as both countries' history is so rich with potential. So for everyone who wants a game in China or Japan, I have good news.A game set in China or Japan is definitely coming in the near future.

The biggest piece of evidence for this is these two concept arts:

John-bigorgne-siege-metropolis-04-b.jpg

John-bigorgne-forest-01.jpg

If you look at the file names which can be found on John Bigorgne’s art station, you’d find two names:

John-bigorgne-siege-metropolis-04-b.jpg

John-bigorgne-forest-01.jpg

This has the exact same naming convention as concept art for “Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok” which became Valhalla (and the concept arts for which were confirmed to be part of Valhalla). John Bigorgne works for Ubi Montreal and has worked on Lineage and Syndicate as a concept artist. It seems very reasonable that he could have made some art of China as well. So now that we can pretty much confirm that this is actual concept art, not fan art like claimed (likely just NDA reasoning), we have to ask:

Are these images Japan or China?

I firmly believe this is China for a number of reasons.

 1. The art style is reminiscent of ink washing used throughout Medieval China, and while the art style was picked up by Japan, as were most things, to many the ink washing becomes very synonymous with Chinese art, so much so that Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China used it as the art style.
 2. The fortress is a Chinese fort, not a Japanese castle. The Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties built similar looking massive forts. As you can see in these links, Chinese forts would often have a small building and cover over the gate and small buildi

How to address plagiarism?

I saw a post here a few months back about students putting stolen material through a thesaurus bot that spits out synonyms. I thought that was crazy, I'd never seen that before. Well, today I got one. The first clue was when the writing started out normal enough, but then collapsed into word salad. But it clicked when the title of a tv show was changed to a synonym for that title. I'm furious. Do I need further evidence to prove plagiarism? How can I prove this is plagiarism and how should I address the student?

UPDATE: Thanks for all of the advice everyone! My question was poorly worded as I was grading late last night and tired (grades due by noon today!). What I was really asking is is this reportable/is this sufficient evidence to report? I think the change in show title was probably enough, but I wanted to have a more solid case. I took /u/chrisrayn's advice but even after guessing the appropriate synonyms my plagiarism checker couldn't detect anything. But after a little Google-fu I found the exact articles that the plagiarized material comes from, so I got 'em. They copied paragraphs from published articles and then clearly ran them through a synonym-bot. One was even an article that I've read before (it sounded familiar)! I am working through the reporting paperwork now. Thanks again everyone!

[Football video games] A Game Of Two Halves

Brief note to start with - football, in this post, refers to the code of “association football”: sometimes also called soccer. If you’re hoping for something about rugby, gaelic rules, NFL or other codes of football, this isn’t it. Sorry!

One of the most popular sports-based video game franchises of the last 30 years would not, at first glance, look like a successful game. The user has no control over the players on the pitch. There’s no chance of the user achieving the schoolboy dream of scoring a last-minute trophy winning goal. For many years there was no visual representation of the pitch at all; a 2003 update featuring circles with little feet was heralded as a major gameplay advance. Fans of competing football games that focus more on the on-pitch play have decried it as “looking like a complicated spreadsheet”. The user takes control of a football club and attempts to lead them to glory by controlling the transfers, the tactics, the style of play, the line-up, the substitutions, the press conferences, contract talks - pretty much everything except the performance of the eleven players that take the field for kick-off. All of the admin, none of the fun parts of playing football. Yet this game has been cited in divorce cases, claims of addiction, and created cult icons of players who never achieved glory in real life. Because of this game, to certain people Cherno Samba, Maxim Tsigalko and Tonton Zola Moukoko are bigger names than actual footballing legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and other household names.

The game is Championship Manager/Football Manager.

D8 & Urine THC Drug Tests: The Facts

This is an attempt at providing education and generating discussion. I feel like I may have rambled on in an attempt to speak to newbies, those not very familiar with cannabinoid metabolism, and those with more advanced knowledge. If so, I apologize. It’s fine if you don’t agree with me. I’m interested in what everyone has to say. I’d just like to see the post stay on topic. I put a bit of time into researching and writing this post and it would be quite disheartening for this to evolve into unpleasant arguments for all. Perhaps someone has research that disputes my findings- I’d appreciate seeing it. I’ve always got plenty to learn.

First of all, if your d8 distillate contains any d9, you will test THC positive. If you think your distillate is d9-free, go take another peek at the CoA. Is the d9 LOQ >/= 0.3% with a result of 0% or ND? If so, your distillate could indeed have 0.2% d9 and in that case would result in 0% or ND. I’ve seen d8 distillate CoAs set d9 LOQ of >/= 0.9%.

D8 will not test positive for THC. Let me say that again. D8 will not test positive for THC. Hear me out please. GC/MS is looking exclusively for the 11-nor-delta-9-THC-COOH metabolites and d8 has its own undetected 11-hydroxy-delta 8-tetrahydrocannabinol (11-OH-delta 8-THC) metabolites.

11-nor-delta-9-THC-COOH is the target compound for the THC urine dipstick/cup test. The LOQ is most commonly detected at a cutoff level of 50 ng/mL in urine. 11-nor-delta-9-THC-COOH is commonly referred to by a multitude of synonyms, including THC-COOH, 11-nor-9-carboxy-THC, 11-nor-Δ9-THC-9-COOH, and 11-nor-delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid, to name a few. 11-nor-delta-9-THC-COOH.

The nomenclature used in drug testing for cannabinoids can be confusing. The primary psychoactive agent in Cannabis, ∆-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), has a naturally occurring inactive precursor tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, often referred to as THC acid, or THCa, THC carboxy, or 2-COOH-THC.

1). The carboxyl group in the inactive precursor is on carbon #2. Heat and drying will decarboxylate the inactive precursor forming the psychoactive drug THC.

The primary metabolite of THC (the target analyte for urine cannabis testing contains a carboxyl group (which differentiates it from parent compound THC) on carbon number #11, and in regulatory documents is often called THC Acid, or THCA, or THC carboxy, or 11-COOH-THC. To avoid confusion it may be valuable to use the words precursor and

Historic Sports Car Prototypes Lap Time Comparison - Were prototypes ever faster than F1?

Sports Car Prototypes are racing cars, which have no minimal production requirements unlike GTs and Touring Cars and are therefore (most of the time) the top racing category in sports car championships. These are purpose-built racing cars with closed wheels, the cockpits can be closed or open depending on the regulations. In this following text, I will look at how regulations looked in the past and I will also compare the lap times of the prototypes to contemporary Formula 1 cars, to see if there were eras, where F1 was challenged on the track or times where prototypes would’ve qualified within the famous 107% limit (In F1, if a car qualified outside 107% of the pole time, it isn’t allowed to enter the race without a special permission). These prototype regulations were mostly overseen by the FIA, the ACO who are the organisers of the 24h of Le Mans and IMSA who are the governing body for North American sports car racing. With help of this great post (by u/gg2443), I am also able to calculate back the percentages to today’s F1, and like that, compare the speeds across the eras and compare them to contemporary racing categories.

Here’s a graph if you can’t wait to see the results. The F1 lap time is at 100% and I highlighted the 107% mark as well.

This graph shows the lap time percentage of the fastest prototypes of each year relative to F1 from each year (for example the last time prototypes were under 107% was in 1992 against 1992 F1)

This graph shows the lap time percentage of the fastest prototypes of each year relative to the 2019 F1 cars, this means that if two years are at the same level, they were equal in speed (1992 Group C is as fast as 2014 LMP1-H)

If you find this kind of stuff as interesting as me, I recommend checking out my other similar post, comparing current racing classes across all styles of circuit racing. I use lap times percentages to quantify the speed differences between racing cars, and I give some examples which should help in understanding

$ESTC Soon to Rise, an unrecognized beneficiary of the Fortune 500's E-Commerce Transition

Storytime

On April 27th, Mark Cohodes, a well-known short seller and investor, mentioned his bullishness on Camping World. His thesis was that people—needing a socially and medically acceptable form of escape / recreation—would turn to RVs and the outdoors, resulting in dramatic sales increases. Since his interview, CWH has doubled in value from ~$8 to ~$18. Mark was able to look at an obvious shift (quarantine) in behavior and identify a non-obvious beneficiary (RV / outdoor equipment sellers). This is a great mindset when it comes to generating plays.

Here, we’ll take a look at another obvious shift and discuss a non-obvious beneficiary, Elastic N.V. (ESTC). I believe that ESTC will see it’s stock price rapidly appreciate after June 3rd, when ESTC’s earnings reveal that it’s highly undervalued compared to peers.

TL;DR Buy ESTC for an undervalued tech play that capitalizes on increased traffic for online commerce/site search, as well as a shift to work from home (all due to COVID)

This is SHOP/TWLO electric boogaloo, except you’re getting in while it’s hella cheap

Thesis Breakdown

 1. Shift in market demand due to COVID
 2. Examples of this shift evident from other tech company earnings reports
 3. Why ESTC is poised to benefit from this shift/said tech companies
 4. ESTC competitors and why ESTC shines
 5. Why ESTC is undervalued compared to peers
 6. Potential ER outcomes and implications for market valuation
 7. Play recommendations

The COVID Shift

It’s no secret that consumer spending is shifting online. Online sales growth has been accelerating at 13+% YoY—and those numbers are pre- Covid-19. Now that businesses are being forced to move online, this process will accelerate in a virtuous cycle: more online businesses = more options for consumers = more online spending = more market for businesses = more online businesses. This shift has already largely occurred for big companies, but now this cycle will accelerate for small and medium sized companies.

To be successful here, it is crucial not only to provide consumers more options to appeal to their needs and convert to sales, but to also be able to understand user preferences by observing patterns in their browsing, so you can personalize presented options for optimal sales growth as well as customer retention. The incentives to improve customer retention/experience will help c

Thoughts on Bourgeois logic

Wikipedia has a page of Qi Benyu an important participant of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Very little information about him is readily available other than the scarce information accessible on wikipedia and a few articles about him. Perhaps he was a left-deviationist perhaps he wasn't. The highlights of his case were that he was purged by Mao for being too radical and that he continued supporting Communism and the Cultural Revolution to the end of his life. What might be more interesting than him however was his obituary by the New York Times.

That obituary reveals one of the most interesting things about bourgeois media. That is their utter inability to comprehend that someone can continue supporting Communism and Revolution even when he has been purged by the party and the leader he follows and admires. Even when the Mao's revolutionary system and ideology have been overthrown (with the remnants socialist state and the red symbols notwithstanding). They cannot imagine why someone would continue supporting Marxism-Leninism and not conduct "self-reflection" (which of course means complete repudiation of communism and the enthusiastic embrace of capitalism) in these circumstances. In their mind someone can only support Communism only when: 1) he is in a high position so that he wishes to keep his "privileges" 2) he is either terrified of the repression of the socialist state so he gives his outward support or is at least complacent due to the social norms so he just passively goes along with the socialist system. At the best case scenario the only people who truly believe in Communism are young people who are "idealistic" in capitalist states who haven't lived the "clear failure of socialism" at worst even they are viewed as psychopathological.

So this creates the question, why do the bourgeois media think that? I think the answer is relatively straightforward. They have been infused with capitalist ideology so much that they think that the only rational reason to support communism is if you have material gain from it or you are threatened by retribution if you don't. Opportunism has completely overtaken their thinking and they cannot imagine any other reason for someone to support communism. So when an old man who has no high position in a socialist state, in a country where revolutionary ideology no longer exists (so the people are free to attack the fallen "communist tyranny" that "oppressed them" and "destroyed their economy and life") where in

How are the humanities programs/departments at JHU?

Hello everyone! I’d love to hear how some of you have found the humanities at JHU. I searched the sub and have found a few similar questions with limited (but encouraging) feedback, so I’m hoping for some more fresh insight.

I’m surveying prospective graduate programs in English literature, and when I looked at the U.S. News and World Report I saw that JHU was right up there in the rankings. This surprised me, obviously because Johns Hopkins is treated as synonymous with the medical sciences. I’ve looked at the English Department website and perused the graduate courses, and it looks to be a good scene, but I’m very curious to hear what the actual students have to say about the academic material and culture. I am especially interested in the perspective of humanities graduate students, but I welcome undergraduate perspectives.

Thanks so much in advance.

Help! Plagiarism

Hello All.

I’m trying to determine how a student cheated on a term paper. There is no way that the student wrote this paper in an intro course and based on their previous work. TurnitIn came back with a 7% similarity report, so that didn’t work.

I found a paragraph on Wikipedia that is very similar to a paragraph in the paper but with synonyms replacing certain words. Is there an app that does this? Can somebody please tell me what it is?

Please critique my responses to common "anti-China leftists" and their arguments surrounding Uygher "concentration camps".

Although I'm preaching to the choir by posting this here, I wanted the opinions of /r/Sino on the common arguments anti-China leftists continue to make regarding the Uygher concentration camp myth, and whether the arguments I pose in response make any sense. I first posted this to r/ socialism (notoriously libertarian socialist and "Third-Worldist"/Trotskyist) and also have used the same arguments in various anti-tankie Twitter threads, to a pretty harsh response.

For context, "anti-tankie" leftists still seem to all be taking a Third-Worldist approach to how they view the debacle in Xinjiang, claiming they still believe China is oppressing Uygher Muslims by throwing them in these re-education camps against their will, but also claim they "denounce" the obvious lies from Adrian Zenz and other exaggerations bolstered by mainstream media. Hopefully you roll your eyes at that just as hard as I do, lmao. Their leading evidence (dare I say only evidence) are the growing number of testimonies reported by Uygher Muslims who appear on various outlets to tell their stories about how horrible the vocational centers were. That's really it.

Unfortunately I was banned from r/ socialism, not necessarily for my post, but because the resource compilation a lot of us use contains a few sources from outlets with ties to fascist websites. New Eastern Outlook, for instance, is partnered with pro-fascist websites such as Veterans Today (as seen on their home page). UNZ Review is quite literally just a Nazi news website, for some reason hosting a perfectly sound article debunking Uygher propaganda. I have no idea why these articles exist in affiliation with fascist media (I tried looking into it, to no avail), but it's definitely troublesome. I've attempted to contact the creator of the Google doc about getting those specific links removed (the rest are obviously fine) simply because their inclusion is probably more counter-productive if those affiliations are linked to them.

Regardless, here are my responses to common leftist arguments against China defenders. I welcome all critiques/additions because I want to know if they're actually effective arguments:

#1: "Chinese state-affiliated media is inherently biased and shouldn't be sourced"

I'm of the belief that there is no real source that always reports 100% lies or 100% truth. Not CNN, not the Daily Wire, n

From the celebrated miracle daughter of media tycoon Robert Maxwell; to the broken young woman who fled scandal in the UK to a small New York apartment, trying to launch a new life; the rebirth Jet-set Ghislaine, who was everywhere at once, longtime companion of Jeffrey Epstein, a man even richer and more shady than her father; the sophisticated middle age woman, a runaway alleged criminal trying hard to avoid detection by her pursuers – finally, to the incarcerated, indicted suspected sex trafficker and perjurer.

Common misconceptions about sexual consent, explained

It's important to understand sexual consent because sexual activity without consent is sexual assault. Before you flip out about how "everyone knows what consent is," that is absolutely not correct! Some (in fact, many) people are legit confused about what constitutes consent, such as this teenager who admitted he would ass-rape a girl because he learned from porn that girls like anal sex (overwhelmingly not true, in addition to being irrelevant), or this ostensibly well-meaning college kid who put his friend at STI risk after assuming she was just vying for a relationship when she said no, or this guy from the "ask a rapist thread" who couldn't understand why a sex-positive girl would not have sex with him, or this guy who seemed to think that because a woman was a submissive that meant he could dominate her, or this 'comedian' who haplessly made a public rape confession in the form of a comedy monologue, or this 'well-liked kid' who thought good girls always had to fight a little the first time. In fact, researchers have found that in acquaintance rape--one of the most common types of rape--perpetrators tend to see their behavior as seduction, not rape, or they somehow believe the rape justified.

Yet sexual assault is a tractable problem. Offenders often [rationalize their behavior](https://

I saw 192 movies in theaters in 2019. Here is my full ranking.

This year I went to see 192 different movies in theaters, plus one rewatch. That's up from 162 in 2018, 140 in 2017, 9 in 2016, and 5 in 2015. I usually go 3 or 4 times per week, mostly on weekends. I keep track of dates/theaters/movies/ratings for fun and save all of the stubs.

My ratings are what I give the movie right after seeing it, with no real 'checklist' or anything, mostly just initial thought/enjoyment/opinion. It's not meant to be taken super seriously, I'm not a professional reviewer.

This is my full ranking for the year, from favorite to least-favorite, with a few small reviews/thoughts thrown in:

Monos - 10/10 - Hands-down my favorite movie of the year and honestly high on my all-time list. It's Apocalypse Now meets Lord of the Flies, with some Beasts of No Nation thrown in. It builds a unique, lived-in world that's believable and brutal. Beautifully-filmed, some of the best shots of the year (the ending shot gets seared in your mind). Modern and grounded look at a militia/cartel fighting against an unnamed enemy in a Colombian jungle. It almost feels post-apocalyptic instead of 'cartel vs government', which I really loved. You get to imagine your own backstory as the story unfolds. Unforgiving and gut-wrenching, but hopeful too. Got a lot out of its cast. Can't recommend this movie enough. Really disappointed this didn't make the Best Foreign Language Film shortlist. "Masterpiece" gets thrown around a lot, but in my mind this is the only one this year.

Marriage Story - 10/10

The Farewell - 10/10

Journey to a Mother's Room - 9/10 - Biggest surprise of the year, came out of nowhere. Deeply-personal story between a mother & daughter. It's very basic on the surface, and there's not much story (you start at Point A, and end at Point A), but it's the most emotional movie of the year. If you don't cry at least 3 times during this, you're probably not human. It's all about the unbreakable connection you have to your parent(s), from the day you're born until the day you die. It only takes place over the course of a few months, but feels like lifetimes. Beautiful little movie about separation, loss, and human connection.

Waves - 9/10 - *I could write 20 pages on how much I loved this movie. To keep it short, it's got a perfect soundtrack, perfect setting, awards-worthy performances (from Kelvin Harrison Jr., Sterling K. Brown, and Taylor Russell). Visceral sto

New Axios article on Qanon documents a tenfold increase in Qult traffic

Today Axios released this article with some really interesting updates regarding the popularity of the Qult. Obviously we’ve seen evidence of rapid growth here and at r/QanonCasualties but I wouldn’t have guessed it was ten times growth:

> There was more than 10 times as much Google search interest in QAnon in mid-July than in mid-January, according to Google Trends data.

> QAnon pages and groups on Facebook had nearly 10 times more likes at the end of last month than they did last July

> There has been a 190% increase in the daily average number of tweets with popular QAnon hashtags since March as compared to the seven months prior

Axios reporters Stef Kight and Sara Fischer also include that 11 avowed Qultists are running for Congress, and that Trump has retweeted Qult followers “at least 90 times since the pandemic began”.

Also they have the best rundown of what the social media companies have done to this point (vs their claims of shutting them down):

>Twitter recently shut down 7,000 Q-related accounts. It expects broader policy changes to limit the reach of another 150,000 accounts, per NBC News.

>Facebook removed five pages, 20 accounts, and six groups associated with QAnon for violating its content manipulation policies in May.

>TikTok blocked several hashtags related to QAnon last month from its search results, although some of the videos that originally had the hashtags may still be available on the platform.

Lastly, they include a link to this study by niemanlab.org which, as summarized by Axios, says:

> Studies have shown that users are more likely to seek out bad information when a Big Tech platform flags it as false.

I expected mentions of the high budget viral propaganda films as the fuel that caused this growth, but they didn’t cover that. No real discussion here about why this growth is happening, as much as doing a great job documenting where we are at the moment.

I think this is a very good indication why we’re seeing many more Qultists doing drive-by video posts and “just asking questions” here. And why r/QanonCasualties is, well, seeing so many casualties.

Things are going to really heat up over the next 90 days, and we’re going to have to be prudent in our moderation and potentially how we curate c

Maxillary expansion is an effective treatment for sleep apnea

A 2016 systematic review and meta-analysis found that maxillary and maxillomandibular expansion are effective treatments for OSA in adults. The mean AHI decreased from 24.3 to 9.9 in the maxillary expansion studies, and from a mean of 47.53 to 10.7 in the double maxillary and mandibular expansion studies. Some patients were completely cured of their apnea, and this is without the use of CPAP**.**

I searched this sub for maxillary expansion or palatal expansion (they're synonyms) and was shocked to see so few results. This is a treatment that can be done non-surgically and takes only 30 days to complete, resulting in permanent improvement in sleep disordered breathing symptoms and great improvement in clinical symptoms of sleepiness and fatigue, so I've decided to share the research I've made.

What is going on here? How the hell does a treatment that's usually done to fix bad teeth improve sleep apnea?

Maxillary or palatal expansion is the expansion of the upper jaw bone, frequently done in children to fix a crossed bite, a type of malocclusion. It involves the use of a device (haas or hyrax) attached to your teeth that goes across the mouth root and slowly expands in width, pushing your top teeth further apart and fixing their bad occlusion with lower teeth. This also causes an expansion of the bony roof of your mouth, the hard palate, making it wider and lower.

Now, the thing is: the hard palate is literally the same bone that makes the bottom of your nasal cavity, the nasal floor. By widening and lowering the palate, you are effectively increasing your nasal cavity in width, height and volume, greatly increasing the nasal airflow and improving breathing, leading to the large AHI reductions observed in the studies. See these images to better understand the anatomy of the nasal cavity: nasal cavity cross section, nasal ct scan post and pre maxillary expansion.

How exactly does the bone expand? The skull bones have these things called sutures, which are fibrous joints around which growth occurs. In children, because of growth, the sutures are not yet closed, so simply applying force will cause them to separate and new bone to grow in the resulting gap. In children, tooth-borne rapid palatal expan

AirPods Pro - 2D27 Feedback and Thoughts

Apple pushes another update for the AirPods Pro, 2D27. Yay or Nay? Let's dive in.

Whats changed? (from a user perspective)

 • Certain users will rejoice the sound signature while others complain.
 • ANC has gotten even better.

Allow me to explain.

------ ANC --------

In a market where various choices exist, many chose the AirPods Pro for its acclaimed ANC; at least based on the early reviews. Though this quickly changed with a subsequent firmware to worse, it slowly got better with each update after that.

Remember the good old launch ANC? The firmware 2D27 inches very close to that and are a step in the right direction. I am happy to report that the ANC has improved in a very noticeable way. The algorithm seems to drown more of the low end rumbles and certain higher frequencies.

But part of me still wishes for that launch firmware magic again; and one would be able to relate to this sentiment if they are spoiled during their first week of ownership @ launch. Nevertheless, rest assured knowing that the 2D27 is no slouch.

ANC is no longer a weak point of the AirPods pro. I am fairly confident that at least 95% of the users will be completely satisfied with the current implementation.

------- Transparency Mode ------

Not much changes here. But to my critical ear, I believe it sounds less hissy than it used to be.

------- Sound Signature ------

AirPods Pro can now appease any bass-head that formerly overlooked this headset. But thats where the praise ends. Although being bass'y isn't always bad, the low end is muddy and sloppy at best. It does not feel as articulate or accurate as it was with the 2D15. Instead, it is a constant rumble that continues to pound with no finesse.

Sparkly highs are no more. With the pounding bass at the forefront, the treble is constantly being overshadowed. Though this may make certain genres such as Hip Hop and Rap sound fun to listen to, it completely ruins the rest of the musical spectrum.

Mid range/vocals are now recessed (for the first time ever). This is an unwelcome and most notable change of this update since the launch of AirPods Pro. You can now bid farewell to the Chestier, Clear, Focused mid-range that was synonymous to AirPods Pro. If you use your headset for Podcasts and Audiobooks, you will notice the change immediately.

Overall, the wider sound stage has disappeared. Welcome to the "narrow" and "compact". Music does not sound sparkling or airy anymore. Instead it feels hea

The new hysteria: Bipolar & Borderline as agents of oppression (Part 1)

Disclaimer: The behaviors and character traits that I will talk about here are real. There are people out there who experience them and that's why they are valid experiences and generally why they exist. The following isn't a critique of these people and I'm not saying that "mental illness is fake". It's a critique of psychiatry and its labels.

Part 1: Over-generalization

Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder have different and relatively complex criteria if one looks at the DSM-V. Officially, there are several criteria that have to be met to warrant a diagnosis. That is: officially. In reality a lot of people can get a diagnosis with either of these with a relatively small amount of traits.

For Bipolar Disorder it can often be more than enough if the person has one single episode of mania or hypomania that gets noticed by a psychiatrist or psychologist. While these may sound like high standards to meet, or like there may be some clear-cut easily-detectable trait associated with them, they are actually very vague. Irritability, restlessness, insomnia, racing thoughts, and some reckless behavior can already be more than enough. And these only have to persist for four or seven days respectively. If the person feels a bit depressed now and then, perfect!

For Borderline Personality Disorder it's often already enough to be a woman and have difficulties keeping one's emotions within a socially-acceptable frame of reference. Literally any emotional outburst will get women a suspicion for it. Bonus points if they have self-worth issues, self-harm, dissociate, or have strong opinions.

All of these traits, every last one of them, is also a strong indicator for trauma. In fact, a large percentage of people diagnosed with either of these two also report having experienced trauma in the past. Not all, which may mean these can exist without trauma, but there's at least a strong correlation going on. Many people who were later diagnosed with (complex) PTSD or simply realized they went through traumatic experiences also report having been misdiagnosed earlier, and guess which ones are frequently named. Even psychotic symptoms have been associated with the long-term consequences of trauma.

That is where we start to see some striking resemblance to hysteria. Which was also a vague diagnosis that could basically apply to everybody who shows a few signs of not being in full control of their emotions. To this day "being hyste

Paul and Morgan's reasoning is so bad it's indestructible: a rant... or maybe an essay.

We just found out today that Paul and Morgan Olliges - you know, the Paul and Morgan Olliges, who will be celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary this week and who have received a variety of different criticisms for giving dangerous advice and promoting unhealthy relationship standards, yet somehow feel qualified to give relationship advice - will now be offering marriage counselling. This announcement, while somewhat funny, did get me thinking more seriously about just how dangerous Paul and Morgan's social media presence is.

All of the fundies we talk about here have poor reasoning skills and lack logic, but I personally think Paul and Morgan are some of the worst in this respect, because they're the most vocal about their "spicy" religious and political beliefs (always accompanied by a video thumbnail with a shocking title and gaping mouths, adorned with fire emojis) and the most unwilling to even attempt to listen to reason. Plus they have the "I heard from God" trump card, so there's not a single argument, in their eyes, one could make that could penetrate their reasoning pattern, even if, to a regular, somewhat educated person, the holes are clear. Their entire ideology is based on a series of logical fallacies.

If, for example, one were to tell them, "you two should not offer marriage counselling, because you have been married too short a time," they could turn around and say, "we heard from God and he called us to offer Christ-like wisdom to the masses, and that God-given green light gives us the authority to provide marriage counselling, regardless of how long we've been married." But then if you were to ask how they know the Bible is true, they might respond, "because God said so" or "it's in the Bible." If one were to note the aspects of their relationship which could be construed as abusive, and cite those as a reason why they are not qualified to give advice, they could simply deny that their relationship is abusive or unhealthy at all, and furthermore, could even say that their approach to their relationship is "biblical", therefore inherently healthy.

Then one could try to say, "you have no educational credentials to be providing legitimate, research-backed marriage advice," to which they could respond, "God is not a degree-granting entity; rather, He has given us the authority to speak to these issues, therefore, we are entitled to do so," to which one could argue, "regardless of any religious affiliation, there is ample research f

[The Scuu Paradox] - Chapter 23

At the Beginning

Previously on The Scuu Paradox…

The Scuu network… the key advantage that humanity couldn’t overcome. Even on the Cassandrian front, I had heard hundreds of theories about it, each completely different than the last. According to the official records, the network had never actually been discovered. The phrase had slowly crept into reports and discussions approximately twenty-seven years after the war began, and had grown in popularity ever since. Close to a hundred years later, a definition came into being: “A theoretical instant-speed communication network that ensures immediate data transfer between every Scuu ship and/or entity.” Up to the day I retired, there were a hundred and seventeen theoretical models of the network, each aimed at finding a weakness to exploit.

No one had seen the network; it was claimed that no one could. Looking at the strands around me, I had my doubts. There was no guarantee that what I was witnessing represented the Scuu network, but as Augustus would say, “it was damned close.”

“You can see it, can’t you?” Rigel asked. Fractal space made him look older than he really was. Twenty-five hair-width strands came out of his right temple, continuing halfway towards the nearest vortex.

 “Yes.”

 “Describe it.”

I ran a simulation of his field of vision. With this much activity, it was nearly impossible to determine what Rigel could be focusing on; however, the persistent lack of eye movement suggested he was staring blankly at a single spot.

“Connections,” I said. “Lots of connections.”

The silence told me that he knew what I was talking about, just couldn’t see it. Maybe that was what drove him insane—being able to sense the network, but never see it? Every ship had gone through this so many times it had become synonymous with existence. Seeing a human affected, though, made me feel uneasy.

More red lines flashed through the space, bursting from the same points as tight clusters of strands. Likely the ships were sending coordinating attack plans, transmitting them to their shuttle crews. When the ground offensive started—which seemed inevitable—thousands of lines would dash to and from every soldier on the field.

 “What now?” I asked.

Four Ways to use WarcraftLogs to Troubleshoot your Raid

I'd like to preface this by saying I am in no way affiliated with WarcraftLogs and this post isn't sponsored or shadow written by anyone. But I get a lot of questions on discord about how to analyze logs, so I figured this might help someone. :-)

Hi guys! Recently (by which I mean "literally since the start of classic") WarcraftLogs has been getting kind of a bad rap on reddit. To a lot of people, WCL is synonymous with "parsing culture" and the mentality that follows it, wherewithin one's entire raid is made or broken by how many orange or pink numbers show up next to one's name after the raid.

However, while parsing culture certainly is fairly bullshit and most definitely has caused a lot of headaches for raidleaders trying to get their DPS to use their brain rather than just tunnelvisioning on the BIG NUMBAH, it's wholly unfair to characterize all of WCL and its userbase as nothing but an outlet for parse junkies. WCL is an extremely powerful set of tools, and if you dare to look under the hood, you can find a multitude of ways to spot and fix problems in your raid's performance that you might not otherwise have noticed.

Today we're going to look at 4 of them. Not an exhaustive list by any means, but a good place to start for the aspiring log analyst nonetheless.

As our example log, I have chosen this log from Iron Edge-Golemagg EU. It is the top Execution ranked log in EU, and I had to pick based on something, so they "won".

 1. Using the debuff menu

Debuffs are an integral part of classic wow raiding. Due to the 16 debuff cap on enemy targets, players are often nervous about accidentally overwriting a useful buff with a useless one, and many guilds meticulously plan out their debuff lists in order to make sure that only the correct debuffs are on the bosses.

However, this is only half the story. Are those debuffs actually the ones you're getting? And what about uptime. You may have dedicated a debuff slot to Demoralizing Shout, but is it actually on the boss for the entire fight? And who is casting it?

The easiest way to analyze raid debuffs is to switch the view to "Enemies" for each boss fight. Like so. This will give you a breakdown of which debuffs were active on the boss for a given fight, and for how much of the fight they were active. Clicking

Some ladybird species are pests in their own right and are also consumed by other ladybirds. The ladybird’s main defence mechanism is its highly alkaline and bitter taste. In the winter they will usually find warm places to shelter, which usually brings them into the homes of humans.

Lamprey

Not a lamp. The lamprey is a jawless fish that is characterised by its large, toothed tubular mouth. They are eel-like in appearance but are far more ancient and the resemblance is due to convergence. Lampreys are mostly carnivorous, but some are herbivorous, the oldest (and smallest) carnivorous lamprey mostly feed by attaching themselves to prey and consuming their blood, but younger carnivorous lampreys feed by consuming the flesh of prey. They are noted as being highly efficient swimmers and are considered one of the most efficient marine animals. Lamprey were historically a food of the upper class in human society and I was informed that one human monarch gorged himself to death on them, now however they are consumed at all stratums of human society (they require thorough cleaning though as the serum and saliva are toxic).

Rating: Harmless

Leech

A parasitic worm with thousands of teeth, the leech feeds on the blood of mammals, attaching itself in swamp and wetlands and draining their prey until they are engorged, the leech then detaches itself and injects a coagulant to ensure the prey is unharmed. Despite their rather upsetting description the leech only removes a very small amount of blood and are sometimes used in medicine to treat blood related diseases and their secretions are used widely in medicine.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddawkins/2020/07/30/uber-vs-london--the-courtroom-battle-the-world-is-watching/#38662ffd6973

> Uber, the mobile ride-hailing giant responsible globally for over 1.9 billion “trips” a year is facing a summer showdown in two London courts as scrutiny mounts over licensing issues and the drivers’ classification as “workers.” Both cases have huge ramifications for Uber and could set a precedent for so-called “gig economy” workers around the world. > > With decisions expected in September, the two Uber drivers at the heart of the 5-year long battle for representation and basic rights have told Forbes that Uber’s ride-hailing system is a danger to its exhausted drivers, and global change is desperately needed. The former drivers claim that forcing Uber to accept drivers as workers will rid Uber of its “sweatshop labor” culture, and help reset the dehumanising “entitlement” differential between riders and drivers. London’s Supreme court has now broken to consider its decision. > > Uber now faces making significant changes to its business model in the U.K. If the court rules against Uber, they will be expected to pay minimum wage and grant holiday time to drivers. However, that sum is likely to pale in comparison to the 20% VAT and 13.2% national insurance contributions Uber will have to pay to the British taxman if the court does agree that Uber is a “transportation provider.” The Good Law project has estimated from 2017 earnings that the figure for Uber’s VAT in the U.K. could be in “excess” of $1.3 billion per year.

> Uber is attempting, for the third and final time after two rejected appeals, to overturn an Employment Tribunal decision from July 2016 where claimants Yaseen Aslam and James Farrar successfully argued that Uber drivers are workers whenever Uber’s app is switched on and they are ready and able to take trips. The Tribunal ruled that as workers Uber drivers should be paid the U.K.’s national minimum wage and receive paid holiday while on the clock. Tilting - Musings from a professional poker player

Hi all,

First off, let me state by saying I've been a professional poker player for some 10 years plus. In that time, I've also coached many students and friends, and the biggest thing holding a lot of these players back is their mental game. It truly is. I've come across many great poker-minds, and their biggest flaw preventing them from making the step up is the fact that they simply cannot control their emotions.

Where am I going with this?

Simply put, this exact mindset flaw is synonymous with League of Legends.

In poker, you have to deal with your own inner demons and personal toxic mindset. . . in League of Legends you do not.

Quieten the noise:

If you want to climb, I can guarantee with 100% certainty, if you disable chat from both allies and opponents, you will see a significant increase in your win-rate.

League is only toxic if you let it be.

You can easily get by with just using the ping function. If you cannot control your own tilt, you do not need to communicate with anyone. Ever. Not only will the game be more enjoyable for you by virtue of not having to read the bile spewed out by children (and, well, assholes. . .) but winning is also inherently more fun.

I see a lot of complaints about toxicity in league. Why punish yourselves with it, when there is the option to remove yourself from the toxic environment? It really is a blessing not having to read bullshit such as "Jg diff", "Report feeding", etc. from the plethora of immature brats playing the game. You really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to toxicity if you're the one allowing yourself to be subject to it, by ignoring the functions implemented to curtail it.

Take a break:

After I lose a significant pot, I'll fold marginal hands for an orbit or so, and then I will remove myself from the situation by excusing myself to the toilet or to go get a drink etc; thus allowing my mind to reset. Same applies to league of legends. After a shitty game, just go make a coffee, watch a few YouTube video's, or whatever else you can do that's not League related. Clear your mind. Immediately queuing again is just a recipe for disaster. You'll find loss streaks are born from instances like this. Why ruin your hard earned LP by not taking a few minutes to reset? Step away for 10-15 minutes; believe me, your rank will thank you for it.

There's always a loser:

Realise that there's always a loser - especially in a MMR based game, where you're expected to be hovering a

The misinformation about mental health in our country - a psychologist's POV.

With everything going on in our country - the world - things quickly become overwhelming. Out of all that, the discourse around mental health right now is maddening.

I work in the field with people from all the strata, so I can say with some confidence that things are changing, more information and acceptance is coming. But it's gradual, and often happens after an individual or someone in the family/community gets affected. Even then, a lot of time is spent psychoeducting them about the diagnosis, the symptoms and the prognosis.

Depression, unfortunately, has become either of these two things -

 1. A synonym with all mental illnesses for the unaware : A lot of families come complaining that their loved one has "depression", which after further clarification turns out to be a different disorder entirely.
 2. A bad word, again, for the unaware : The idea that a mental illness can happen, just like a physical illness can is still so hard to grasp for most. A jovial, successful, good-looking, curious, easy to please person apparently has an invisible shield for mental illnesses.

Sushant Singh's death was tragic and made me afraid for a lot of things. People said some young fans might try to emulate or think it's a way out (they did as per the reports). I feared that a lot of my clients would be triggered. They were. The whole week after that went into first processing this with a lot of clients, irrespective of their diagnosis. Finally, I was afraid of the discourse (or lack, thereof) around mental illnesses and suicide that would follow. I wasn't afraid for nothing - this is a circus! The conversation has been so far derailed, that I don't see it getting back on track. Not without a lot of damage, at least.

Am I cynical? Yes. Should I have hope? Yes. Do I have hope? No.

Rant over!

Reasons to Believe

Storing more notes from cumulative morning bible studies to reference whenever I’m on my mobile and can’t access my home files. You’re welcome to copy/paste or comment to correct or add further insight. Peace.

Prologue

Religiosity is natural. Cognitive scientists are becoming increasingly aware that a metaphysical outlook may be deeply ingrained in human thought processes. Religion is vastly more “natural” than the “sleep of reason” argument suggests. Why is Religion Natural? Humans don't need convinced to be religious – I believe this is the thumbprint of being made in the image of God.

I'm convinced evil exists. If life where solely the product of a natural mechanism, that would relegate "evil" to simply being an adjective; a subjective value we assigned to entirely natural actions and behaviors.

On a personal note I find atheism untenable. Atheism is not a belief system. There are no codes, rules or collectively agreed upon reasons to identify with atheism. For this reason the individual atheist is at liberty to identify with atheism for their own reasons. Atheism is a deficiency and/or negation of belief due to a deficiency of evidence. That makes no sense. It suits me to hold a positive view supported by evidence.

Reasons

1. Jesus was a historical person. Credible secular and academic historians do not dispute that Jesus was a historical person. No one reasonably doubts Jesus was baptized, was a teacher with disciples and was killed for insurrection by the Roman authorities. “I can assure you as a historian, that whatever else you might want to say about Jesus, He certainly existed. The historical Jesus may not have been the person that people imagine today but he was a real person.” Bart Ehrman, scholar, agnostic atheist.

2. Belief that Jesus rose from the dead was very early and the “good news” spread relatively quickly. We know the earliest Jesus followers were called the Way who continued as a sect within Judaism. It’s obvious they were motivated to spread their message throughout the region because within a few short decades the movement had effectively spread from Galilee into several cities, from Galatia, to Thessalonica, Corinth and Rome.

3. Paul is a credible witness wh

Finished the Finnish tree (native speaker), and here are some thoughts

First off, it's very clear the course is only in early beta. Extremely picky with what it accepts (I lost count of correct answers that were rejected), doesn't really like synonyms, and several of the English translations are clumsy or even slightly incorrect.

Some of the exercises are really long, and consist of multiple sentences. The longest I saw was three parts, a question followed by a two-part answer. So, there is definitely difficulty even if the language isn't tricky enough with short sentences.

The TTS does not pronounce all words correctly. It can even cut off the last part of a verb, so that it's impossible to get the "write what you hear" type of exercise correct without knowing the relevant grammar rule and noticing that the TTS reads it wrong.

Despite all that, I do think the course will give a good start to learners, and it has quite a lot of vocabulary. It will get much better in time, I've no doubt. I plan to help with that by going back and reporting stuff that should be accepted or is not quite right.

I also think the skills included reflect the Finnish culture quite well. 'Quiet', 'sisu' and 'sauna' are introduced early on, for example, and barbecue and coffee both have an entire skill dedicated to them. :p

[Latest chapter spoilers] Historia’s development and why she is an amazing female protagonist

Disclaimer: I won't talk about the baby daddy, my post will only talk about Historia and what is leading her to make this choice.

I've seen a lot of people being perturbed by the fact Historia didn't report Eren to the government even though she looked clearly against his plan and why would she propose this pregnancy if she disagreed, in this post I will try to explain why I think Historia is such an interesting character, where her development is leading her in the current/future chapters and why this choice is actually logical and served a purpose to her development.

I’ve always thought Historia has always been the kind of girl to seek for love and attention.

Everytime someone cared about her and showed her they cared about her she was always seeking to stay by their side.

First she looked up for her mother’s attention but she didn’t give her anything and never cared about her.

Frieda gave her attention but she abandoned her (died) too.

Her father convinced Historia he needed her and was sorry for everything she went through and gave her attention, which leads her to be ready to sacrifice Eren and become her fathers tool just for the sake of the attention he was giving her but also because this way she could see Frieda, her sister who cared about her, once again and she will be forever living in her memories.

Same with Ymir she cared about her and she was ready to sacrifice everything for her and even abandon Paradis to go in her world she assumed full of titans even if it was synonymous of death. Because Ymir stayed by her side and gave her what she was looking for attention and love.

The truth is Historia has always been afraid to be abandoned and she has always been seeking for someone to care about her. This is the real thing she has been looking for since the beginning.

Eren knew she would understand him better than anyone and he knew he could trust her on this one because she could definitely relate to his situation when she made the choice to betray humanity to stay faithful to her own values in uprising arc and made the choice to be “the enemy of humanity" such a choice , selfish indeed would lead her to become the queen of the walls , but at the same time by choosing to refuse the power of the founding she leaded humanity to its loss. That's the kind of behavior who made Even decide he could trust her enough on this one and she could bear it.

During all this time when Historia accepted the 50 years plan she thought she was doing

Remember "Chad" and the Drones? One of the all-time great UFO stories. Incredibly Creative

In June 2007 the "Chad Drone" story broke and boy was it a doozy. The photos and graphic design work involved in this UFO story is just mind-boggling. Still way better than anything that has come along since. Check out the link as all the elements of this incredible story are still on this particular site. My Experience with the CARET Program and Extra-terrestrial Technology
Isaac, June 2007

This letter is part of a package I've assembled for Coast to Coast AM to distribute to its audience. It is a companion to numerous document and photo scans and should not be separated from them.

You can call me Isaac, an alias I've chosen as a simple measure of protection while I release what would be called tremendously sensitive information even by todays standards. “Sensitive” is not necessarily synonymous with “dangerous”, though, which is why my conscience is clear as I offer this material up for the public. My government has its reasons for its continual secrecy, and I sympathize with many of them, but the truth is that I'm getting old and I'm not interested in meeting my maker one day with any more baggage than necessary! Furthermore, I put a little more faith in humanity than my former bosses do, and I think that a release of at least some of this info could help a lot more than it could hurt, especially in today's world.

I should be clear before I begin, as a final note: I am not interested in making myself vulnerable to the consequences of betraying the trust of my superiors and will not divulge any personal information that could determine my identity. However my intent is not to deceive, so information that I think is too risky to share will be simply left out rather than obfuscated in some way (aside from my alias, which I freely admit is not my real name). I would estimate that with the information contained in this letter, I could be narrowed down to one of maybe 30-50 people at best, so I feel reasonably secure.

Some Explanation for the Recent Sightings

For many years I've occasionally considered the release of at least some of the material I possess, but the recent wave of photos and sightings has prompted me to cut to the chase and do so now.

I should

We Rewrote The First Debunk In Orwell's 1984 Newspeak

This took awhile to do.

/u/Voyager1500 and I collaborated on this together over the course of two days. We took the entirety of YandereDev's first debunk, "YandereDev is rude to his fans, and refuses to apologize", and we translated it into the Newspeak English dialect from George Orwell's 1984. For those that are not aware, 1984 is a dystopian book about totalitarianism, censorship, and state-endorsed revisionism. I suppose you can parallel many aspects of the novel to the heavy censorship, revisionism, and DMCA strikes that YandereDev has been using lately.

There were several interesting revelations we noticed as we translated this. Newspeak is a very simple language: It discourages synonyms and despises metaphors. Due to the nature of YandereDev's writing, we had to compress a lot of sentences into half their length due to the number of filler words used, and in one case we could only translate one sentence to the Newspeak word "malquoted".

Will we do more? Maybe, maybe not.

If you can barely understand what you're about to read, that's fine. This isn't a 1:1 translation from English to Newspeak; if we were to translate it 100% to newspeak you wouldn't be able to understand it at all.

>YandereDev unnice to followers, and he unapologizewise!

Zodiac's Halloween riddle. The clue is "Q"

Propositions

The main clue alluded by Zodiac on the cover of the Halloween card which should lead to his real name is the letter Q*.

Zodiac could speak Italian and have Italian ancestry. His signature may be “by water” and contain the word "water" in Italian, ACQUA. If this is true, the most probable Zodiac’s last name would currently be BEVILACQUA. Zodiac probably reads Western comics.

Notes (*) and explanation of the edit are at the bottom of the post.

https://preview.redd.it/pv051mp8c3a51.png?width=1318&format=png&auto=webp&s=7619ed1f9997ff7d5ddbf6e95a6bfe9ccaf61714

How the riddle has been solved

The main solution to the Zodiac’s Halloween riddle is reached through an assonance between the letter Q and the syllables of the word CUCÙ derived from “The cuckoo’s game”, Il gioco del cucù, the Italian version of Peek-A-boo. CUCÙ has the same pronunciation of QQ in Italian and is the correct translation of BOO from English to Italian in this context.

Context

The 13 symbols row composed by Zodiac in his letter postmarked April 20, 1970, hadn't been yet deciphered when, six months later, the mass murder sent an Halloween card to San Francisco Chronicle reporter Paul Avery that reads: «I feel it in my bones, you ache to know my name, and so I’ll clue in…» (FBI specimens on the Halloween card – source).

Envelope

Zodiac:

- wrote «sorry no cipher»;

- put together with a Z a new symbol, a kind of VF with four dots, in the sender area;

- spelled the recipient's name Paul Averly instead of Avery and underlined the letters «LAV»;

- used for the second time a stamp of the Apollo 8 mission which reads «In the beginning God... » (he did it also on October 5, image – the whole list of stamps is here on zodiacciphers.com).

Riddle

The main questions based solely on what Zodiac wrote in the card are:

 1. What is the clue that he wanted to provide to his reader on page 1?
 2. What is the game he talked about on pages 2 and 3?
 3. What does his new symbol on the envelope and on page 3 mean?
 4. What do the words «By fire, by gun, by knife, by rope» on page 4 mean?

Western comics

The way to go to find the answer to question 4 has already been discovered by Tahoe27 [here](https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/zodiackillerfr

Taking psychoactive substances is a basic human right and should be treated as such.

I know that in the last months and years a lot of people turned their opinion towards legalizing Cannabis. However the collective knowledge about drugs or psychoactive substances seems to end here.

Many don't know about the fact, that there are even more harmless, yet illegal substances. Take for example LSD, Psylocibin, DMT or Iboga. No reported deaths, basically no risk of getting addicted, so quiet harmless compared to alcohol. Alkohol in generall is absolutly not less dangerous than Kokain or MDMA.

And why exactly are some psychoactive substances illegal? I don't harm others and if i want to take Heroin, Meth or alcohol until i die, I should have every right to do so. I can also eat myself to death with fast food (what a lot of Americans seem to do).

Many fear that the number of drug abusers and drug related deaths will rise when certain drugs are legal. This however is not the case in Portugal, which has decriminalised all drugs and therefore reduced HIV infections and drug related deaths. Just ask yourself if you would do Heroin if it was legal. I don't think so and neither would I.

Also the war on drugs continues to claim victimes especially in the USA, Latin America and the Philipines (buzzword: human rights abuses). Other than that it is a huge waste of money and extremely ineffective.

Some years ago I was also horrified of the idea to legalize drugs, because i didn't know better and "drugs" was a synonyme for "Heroin" at the time. As I got more knowledge about the topic, the drug prohibition made less and less sense. This is true for most people: the more you know about drugs , the more you will support legalization. People with no real knowledge about the topic oppose this idea (likely out of fear of the unknown).

Edit: Iboga is lethal. I didn't know that before and I couldn't find a source to confirm this. However some people in the comments pointed that out.

[FULL TEXT of Taibbi's 4th of July piece] Year Zero On America's birthday, celebrating the corporate-sponsored revolution

It’s the Fourth of July, and revolution is in the air. Only in America would it look like this: an elite-sponsored Maoist revolt, couched as a Black liberation movement whose canonical texts are a corporate consultant’s white guilt self-help manual, and a New York Times series rewriting history to explain an election they called wrong.

Much of America has watched in quizzical silence in recent weeks as crowds declared war on an increasingly incoherent succession of historical symbols. Maybe you nodded as Confederate general Albert Pike was toppled or even when Christopher Columbus was beheaded, but it got a little weird when George Washington was emblazoned with “Fuck Cops” and set on fire, or when they went after Ulysses S. Grant, abolitionist Colonel Hans Christian Heg, “Forward,” (a seven-foot-tall female figure meant to symbolize progress), the Portland, Oregon “Elk statue,” or my personal favorite, the former slave Miguel de Cervantes, whose cheerful creations Don Quixote and Sancho Panza were apparently mistaken for reals and had their eyes lashed red in San Francisco.

Was a What the Fuck? too much to ask? It was! In the space of a few weeks the level of discourse in the news media dropped so low, the fear of being shamed as a deviationist so high, that most of the weirder incidents went uncovered. Leading press organs engaged in real-time Soviet-style airbrushing. Aqua Belt Part 3: Collapse

“Keep running! For the love of God keep running"

Cobblestone and gravel crunched underfoot as a large group of civilians ran through the desecrated concrete wasteland. Gunfire rang out from all directions, signalling the slaughter of revolutionary and civilian alike at the very devil’s command. The automated defense systems were getting increasingly overloaded by the minute - the raw influx of conflicting data was manifesting in a violence that burned just like the acrid air.

“I...I can’t breathe…”

“KEEP GOING!”

CREEEAAAAKKKKK

The fleeing escapees turned the corner of a fallen skyscraper, and it was only then that they saw it. In the distance, a giant metallic spider robot, far more colossal than any drone in the immediate vicinity. Far deadlier, too; quivering gazes widened at the sight of it brandishing its guns, chrome finishes sparkling ominously in the moonlight. In a piercing whirl, the optical camera on its visor shifted towards the unarmed group, glowing an eerie shade of scarlet.

“W-were done for…”

The robot took a full scan of the visages and vitals of the group that stood in the distance, and compared it to the database. No match.

“Commencing elimination program”

KACHUNK.

A noisy reload of its turret caused a surge of adrenaline to flood through the survivors, and yet their feet would not move. A girl fell to the ground, her limbs too frozen to even attempt to crawl away. It didn’t matter how potent fight or flight responses were; each of them stared at the spider, shaking, unmoving, eyes wide with fear. Fear, the most potent of paralytics.

“Eradication sequence deploy-”

As the civilians prepared for the end, the flashing lights on the death robot suddenly grew dimmer. Chunks of metallic weaponry crashed to the ground, spurring mini dust clouds with their sheer weight. Sparks crawled across its pearly chassis as smoke started to smoulder from its joints; they looked on in shock at the robot which was whirling noisily, almost as if it was in pain. Its powerful titanium legs gave out under its weight, and finally, its machinery groaned to a jarring, caustic halt.

BOOOM!

*A overwhelming combination of surprise and disbelief washed over the survivors, not daring to believe the miracle of being spared. One by one, the robots in the area started to follow suit, collapsing into reeking piles of seething, unfunctional steel. It seemed that the giant, untouchable droid in the center of it all acted as some sort of me

[Research] DMAE litterature review, with past reviews on SCA

There is evidence based approach for skin anti aging that suggest many things we all know:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26683808/

> UV protection (clothing and sunsceens), free radical scavengers (synthetic or botanic), and cell-protecting agents such as vitamin B3. For the correction of signs of early skin aging, retinoic acid derivatives in dermatological prescriptions are the best studied substances. Topical hormonal prescriptions are also an option if UV damage has not been the leading culprit for aging. Chemical peeling leads to a marked increase in collagen formation, the deaper the better. Ingredients in cream preparations can reduce superficial skin folds (polyphenols, amino acid peptides). Modulators of regular pigmentation are important for anti-aging preparations

DMAE was recently recommended to me by a friend from /r/Vindicta. She knows a lot more than I do about skincare. I was surprised I had never heard of DMAE before: it is rarely mentionned even on CA

However, there is good evidence for DMAE:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15675889/

> 3% DMAE facial gel applied daily for 16 weeks has been shown to be safe and efficacious (p < 0.05) in the mitigation of forehead lines and periorbital fine wrinkles, and in improving lip shape and fullness and the overall appearance of aging skin. These effects did not regress during a 2-week cessation of application. Beneficial trends (p > 0.05 but </= 0.1) were noted in the appearance of coarse wrinkles, under-eye dark circles, nasolabial folds, sagging neck skin, and neck firmness

Looking into the details about why it's not popular, it may be due to fear:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4123624/

> However, tropical treatment with DMAE usually requires high dose and concentration to pass through epidermal permeability barrier, which could incur concerns of its toxicity, side effects, and medical costs. It was reported that 2.5–10 mmol/mL DMAE could cause a vacuolar cytopathology of in vitro cultured human fibroblast cells. In addition, studies showed that application of 3% DMAE gel tropically could also incur the vacuolar cytopathology of rabbit ear epidermal cells. Alternative delivery of DMAE is needed to evaluate the relative efficacy for the improvement of aging skin.

Let's look at the original study that based the cytotoxicity research on a hunch of how amines should have the same effect:

Set Database used for tables in stored procedure

hello Guys, we've moved many reporting stored procedure in a dedicated dtabase the only problem is that all the tables have not the 3 name convention ( they are just the table name ). there are many taht are used so i wonder if there is a way to avoid going through each stored procedure changing the table reference name by including the DATABASE.DBO.TABLENAME convention. Something like use DBxxxxxx in stored procedure so that it knows that the tables referenced must be searche in the indicated db ( I know use DB is not permitted in Sproc, but is there another way to accomplish the same ? )

7 Best Social Media Marketing Tools 2020

Finding the right Social Media Marketing tools is a challenge. You end up learning the ins and outs of each tool before realising it isn’t working as you expected. Somehow it’s costing you more time and money than it’s saving! Trust me, I’ve been there. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the 7 best paid social media marketing tools I use on a daily basis.

Posting on social media and creating ads is one of the most time-consuming things in the beginning stages of running a social media marketing agency. Let’s put aside running the actual business for a second. You need to do the dirty work to get ahead, at least in the beginning, and that can often take up hours upon hours of your day. Then you can finally focus on the business admin, your own branding and marketing, and everything else.

I bet you’d much rather spend more time on growing your business and creating a rock solid brand! With the right tools, you can. You can become a super-efficient social media manager with plenty of time to catch up on the important stuff.

There’s a whole host of tools, apps and software developed specifically to make your life as a social media agency owner easier. I haven’t tried and tested them all, but I’ve tried and tested a lot. Here are my top picks for social media tools in 2020 that I use on a daily basis.

 1. Grammarly.

At the number 1 spot we have quite possibly the best social media marketing tools there is. No matter what field you’re in, grammatically correct writing is important, and that’s especially true for social media. You don’t want to be that person who makes a social media blunder!

Grammarly is the go-to tool for quality control when it comes to writing your posts or ads. The cost of making a spelling mistake or a grammatical error on a social media post or ad can indeed range from total embarrassment to completely destroying a brand’s reputation, or both.

If you’re the dedicated account manager for multiple social media accounts, then you’ll be writing a lot, and you may have found yourself accidentally making silly grammatical errors from time to time. We all do it, it’s human, but they can end up having some pretty dire consequences.

Get Grammarly to ensure it never happens again. Take human error out of the equation. You’ll never have to worry about making a spelling mistake, you just have to open up Grammarly and write it there. Grammarly conveniently offers a mobile app, a desktop app, a browser app and a Chrome extension!

My angry body and a rant - because only you folks seem to understand

TL;DR - Newly diagnosed with ADHD-inattentive type (not even 2 weeks ago). Not on medication yet. HATE my job, it's not stimulating me whatsoever, meaning I'm severely under performing and might get fired (I want to get fired?). My body gets angry when I try to focus. I want to quit. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. I think I'm crazy. I feel broken, stuck, and resentful.

Sorry in advance for the text wall.

I have "the talk" with myself just about every day, every 5 minutes it feels like, to snap the fuck out of it, put down the phone, stop doing other things while on work time. I'm supposed to be working right now! Lately, I've noticed a sensation in my body when I try to focus on doing the ever-boring work that is my job - my body/brain get really angry at me. Like, "How DARE you do work right now, we were having so much fun updating our budget (which we don't do on personal time), scrolling through Reddit for our morning update, researching meal ideas, how to start a BBQ sauce business, what back mobility exercises are best for me, how much does it cost to adopt the puppy I want and get all the supplies. And the other 496 things that mean more to you than your job. This work garbage does NOTHING for you and you know it. So let's just avoid it and have some fun on our own. Sure, you like the paycheck, but you're not earning it anyway, so just forget about it all." My scalp feels like it's buzzing with electricity and is trying to wander away from my body while yelling at me to go with it, my fists get tense, my shoulders tighten up, my teeth clench together, and my brain is throwing a fucking tantrum because I asked it to do some work. When I was a teenger I thought I had a problem with selective perfectionism (a term I thought I coined, it's just a synonym for ADHD).

I'm at risk of losing my job. Part of me is terrified, part of me expected this to happen a year ago, part of me wants to say FUCK ALL OF THIS and just walk out. I could be legitimately happy bouncing from retail, food service, customer service, office, factory settings, if minimum wage paid enough to live off of for one person. People that don't understand my struggles tell me I'm absolutely crazy and ungrateful for wanting to quit this job, that I should "suck it up", that I need this job to afford retirement. Get the FUCK out of here with your "solutions." I don't want to settle in a job just to try and save for retirement, it doesn't make ANY SENSE to me why we should work ourselves sill

Overview of Feminist Studies on the responsbility of Feminists for creating the current Police State.

This is something that is kept out of the public consciousness by constant distractions and yet couldn't be more relevant to current events.

Everyone contributed to the Police State in the US as it is, and I mean that sincerely. This is about how Feminism kneecapped the leftist movement against prisons by pitting leftists against Men, against Rights, and for Prisons and State Violence by creating profits for the Prison Industry and State Governments.

"Carceral Feminism"
This term was coined by Elizabeth Bernstein, a pro sex-work intersectional Feminist who wrote a paper on the long and uncriticized trend of Feminists allying with Right-Wing evangelicals to end trafficking.

She argued that:

> ...this article seeks to demonstrate the extent to which evangelical and feminist antitrafficking activism has been fueled by a shared commitment to carceral paradigms of social, and in particular gender, justice (what I here develop as “carceral feminism”) and to militarized humanitarianism as the preeminent mode of engagement by the state.

And observed many times:

>During the past decade, the term “trafficking” has once again been made synonymous with not only forced but also voluntary prostitution, while an earlier wave of political struggles for both sex workers’ and migrants’ rights has been eclipsed (see, e.g., Kempadoo and Doezema 1998; Chapkis 2005; Agustı´n 2007). According to observers both laudatory and critical, this displacement has been facilitated by the embrace of human rights discourses by abolitionist feminists, who have effectively neutralized domains of political struggle around questions of labor, migration, and sexual freedom via the tropes of prostitution as gender violence and sexual slavery

Some takeaways from her essay, available here.

 • In order to make the case, the term trafficking was used to censor the difference between prostitution and slavery.
 • Western Feminists descending on foreign nations has served as a militarized humanitarian effort to justify war, neocolonial policy and authority, and a consumer culture of feel good saviors.
 • Class is not only the source issue for prostitution, but neoliberal professional women (PMC) also despise it as an antithesis to their class climbing lifestyle.
 • The primary effort to stop prostitution was punishing Men, 'charity', and enacting market discipline. It didn't work.

Are Scourges and Hounds different positions?

Functionally, the two roles seem synonymous. Essentially both are like deputies who report to the sheriff, and sometimes directly to the prince, who get sent out when a swift final death is the order of business. But, unlike the title of Hound, Scourge is very associated with killing Thinbloods and sometimes Caitiff as abominations that will bring about Gehenna. On the other hand, Hounds seem more like enforcers rather than a death squad. Are they the same positions, with the only difference being sociopolitical context in the domain, or could a domain have both a Scourge and a Hound? Thank you in advance for any counsel!

LPT: Amazon is a warehouse, not a store. When shopping on Amazon browse multiple sellers and do mutiple searches using different keywords to find the best deals.

Amazon sells things and it holds items for sellers and it lets sellers sell from their own shops. The differences are:

Shipped and sold by Amazon - Amazon product

Shipped by Amazon - Held in warehouse, not Amazon product

Sold by X - Sold and shipped by someone else using Amazon as a store page.

Also search criteria are set by the sellers, not by Amazon. Just like any good search you have to refine it and try synonyms to find what you want. A full name search can get you what you want, but a descriptive search can work too.

Recommended by Amazon is a bot that reports what everyone buys that has high ratings. Just because it’s first doesn’t make it best. Do a deeper search and you may find a better seller at a better price.

For those who say “But Amazon lists the sellers” yes, for that item with that description, but another item with a different description will have a different list of sellers.

The Case of the Missing 40,000 Jerry Nugget Decks

The Case of the Missing 40,000 Jerry Nugget Decks: A Detective Story

NB: I first published this article (with pictures) at PlayingCardDecks here.

Jerry's Nugget Playing Cards. The story of the original Jerry's Nugget decks is a fascinating one, and there are many interesting side-stories to explore about along the way. You can read the main story about the Jerry's Nugget decks in my previous article here: The Legendary Jerry's Nugget Playing Cards.

But the full truth still remains somewhat hidden, and there are aspects about the Jerry's Nugget story that even today we can't totally be sure about. And with the passage of time, several juicy tidbits of lore have become attached to this famous deck.

In this article I invite you to join me in a quest to explore another juicy story that has become part of the Jerry's Nugget legend. Is it true that the final stock of 40,000 Jerry's Nugget decks was bought up from the casino by a mysterious overseas buyer? Because this is an oft-repeated part of the story, that you'll hear whispered rumours about across the landscape of the internet. But this a statement of fact or fiction, and is it truth or myth? It could mean that right now someone is potentially sitting on a small fortune of Jerry's Nugget decks worth around $500 a piece. If it's true.

So please put on your Sherlock Holmes trench-coat and deerstalker hat, arm yourself with a good amount of deductive logic and persistence, and join me as we see if we can really get to the bottom of this mystery, and dredge up the truth behind this famed haul of 40,000 decks!

A Secret Stash of 40,000 Decks?

If you are curious - like I am - and do some digging about the story and history of the Jerry's Nugget decks, it won't take you long to stumble across mention of the claim that a stash of the final 40,000 decks of Jerry's Nuggets was bought up in a single swoop, cleaning out the casino's remaining inventory of these prized decks.

The story about some lucky buyer nabbing a final stash of 40,000 decks is circulated quite widely around the internet. Do a Google search for "40,000 Jerry's Nugget" and look at how many hits this gets! Some places that sell the decks even include this in their ad copy. For example, here's the ad copy over at one [

Anyone else feel this particular emotion when doing things they don't want to do?

Like if I have some tedious task like washing dishes or doing laundry, writing a boring report or similar, it's like I'm being physically resisted by my own body. Like I'll be lying in bed, on the couch or whatever, knowing I have to do this thing, and the second I try to get up to do it it's like my body is heavier than normal, coupled with this extreme frustration. I wouldn't say it's painful, but the only other feeling that comes to mind is physical pain. It feels similar to a strong ache. So a mix between resistance, frustration and an ache. For me usually it will only last for the short period of time it takes to get up, start doing the task, and a few extra minutes to get the flow going. Sometimes it stays for longer.

Can anyone relate? How do you deal with it?

Edit: after googling some synonyms and definitions and whatnot; "agonizing reluctance" might be a good way to describe it.

July report: God of War, Watch Dogs 2 and indies

Welcome back to my monthly report! I said I slowed down on completions this month, but in the end I still have 9 games completed, with two big ones. I also have been playing a lot more of Slay the Spire (about 50 hours more!), which has grown on me a lot.

Kona (PS4)

 • Playtime: 6 hours
 • In my backlog since December 2019
 • Review: An investigative walking sim with survival elements, it makes the most of the Canadian countryside in winter setting to offer a compelling plot, at least at first. You scour the varous locations, solving a puzzle here and there, getting to know the inhabitants by looking through their stuff and their homes, and making sure you stay alive in the harsh conditions (managing your warmth, your health and your stress). I liked the atmosphere, the open exploration with well integrated puzzles, and the pacing of the investigation, with nice revelations in the early hours. Unfortunately, the ending seems rushed and wastes the potential of the mystery. Not a bad experience, but ends on a bad note when the game had a promising start.

Pikuniku (PC, itchio bundle)

 • Playtime: 4 hours
 • Review: A platformer with an anticaptialist story and a stark art style (bright color, simplistic shapes). I heard a lot of praise about the game, but it felt a bit too much like a joke game. It has its moments with some funny lines, but it is severely hindered by floaty jumping physics, and I didn't really enjoy the gameplay as a result.

Control: The Foundation (PS4)

 • Playtime: 5 hours
 • Review: The first DLC for Control, a game I enjoyed, felt a bit too much like more of the same, without a compelling narrative reason to go back. There are two gameplay additions in the form of contextual powers, which don't amount to much more than gimmicks. Going back only highlighted the small annoyances of the main game, mainly the hassle that is managing the constant stream of mostly boring upgrades (my inventory was always full, and I had to sort +X% items from +(X+1)% items after every fight). Hopefully the second DLC, linking the game to the Alan Wake universe, will be more ambitious story wise.

Pom Gets Wifi (PC)

 • Playtime: 1 hour
 • Review: This one is a full-on joke game, about a meme-spewing dog scouring Dog Heaven for Wifi. It has some funny lines, but it gets old and cringy very fast.

God of War (PS4)

 • Playtime: 35 hours
 • Review: I'm not a huge fan of the God of War series, even though I've played most of them except As

DEFEND THE DRAFT 2020: Jacksonville Jaguars

OVERVIEW

Finishing the 2019 season with a 6-10 record was disappointing. Although there were a few bright spots like Gardner Minshew playing well, DJ Chark taking the next step into his development and turning into a WR1 for this team, Josh Allen balling out as a rookie, Smoot showing he is real contributor on defense and the rest of the rookie class showing that they are building blocks for this team.

For every good there is a bad in this world, though for this season the jags had way more bad. Tom Coughlin was a parasite in the front office who abused his power on this franchise and ruled like a dictator, he alienated and got rid of top talent like Jalen Ramsey, Dante Fowler, Yannick Ngakoue (in the process) , Allen Robinson, Malik Jackson and Telvin smith to say the least and gave preference and money to average players like Andrew Norwell, Blake Bortles and Nick Foles. His reign of terror was so bad the NFLPA gave out a message to upcoming FAs basically saying “be careful about going to Jacksonville”. The defense that once dominated the NFL is not even a shell of its former self, it's more of a rotten husk. The defense fell off badly and produced some of the worst performances in team history this season. The offensive line was horrible giving the QBs and RBs no help at all, Fournette apparently is still a problem in the locker room and the Jags tried hard to get rid of him. Finally… Nick Foles. An argument can be made that he was the worst part of the season. He got paid so much money to bring some stability and improved play to an offense that needed it, bringing in Foles already divided fans since many disagreed on the move and the money it was involved in. Foles ended up getting injured 10 snaps into the season and went 0-4 as a starter before getting benched by Gardner Minshew. During the horrid stretch of games by the jaguars in the middle of the season (vs Colts, Vs Titans and Vs Bucs) he was horrendous and basically saying “losing is fine,it builds culture”. That was the final straw for most if not all of r/jaguars, during the Bucs game he had 6 first half drives, first 3 were turnovers and then 3 straight three and outs. The whole stadium was chanting for Minshew.

This will be a weird year since this offseason was perfect for a full on rebuild but only did “half” a rebuild. They

Symbol from NEM: How Public/private blockchain hybrid systems works?

Traditionally, blockchain is synonymous with decentralization. It remains true that decentralization is the foundation of public cryptocurrencies, but as blockchain technology improves, we are entering a new era where blockchains are powering other ecosystems. Blockchain is driving systems like securities trading, IoT identity, supply chain, and public ownership records. Unfortunately, public chains have problems when they need to handle private data.

https://preview.redd.it/yz5drvik4lf51.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=9431f9e206581045db928dc135ec36fb5097e0ef

For many business leaders it’s an uncomfortable idea to put their company’s vital data on an open network. The complexity and security risks may not be worth the benefits. Regulated industries like healthcare, banking, and government contractors often have rules about how data must be managed and stored. For these organizations, putting data on an open network would be unthinkable.

Fortunately, there are plenty of options for configuring chains. In this article we’ll take a look at the business benefits of blockchains in general, advantages of public chains, then the advantages of private chains, and lastly, the power of public/private chain Hybrid systems.

Advantages of public/private hybrid chain solutions

A hybrid blockchain solution is composed of two chains integrated with each other. By keeping one chain private and one public, this type of system can provide the best of both worlds.

Pay fees for needed public transactions only – Hybrid systems let you operate as much business logic as you like on your private chain, and then update those aggregated changes in a single transaction on the public chain. This gives you control over how much you’ll pay in transaction fees. This represents a huge cost savings for something like a game that may have a lot of gameplay logic, but only a few types of data that need to be publicly recorded.

Keep some data public and other data private – Hybrid solutions let private data remain compliant in regulated industries and ensure any other needed privacy. But data that needs to be publicly accessible can make transactions with public chains and exchanges.

Get high speed, reporting, resilience, and low maintenance – Keep the advantages of a private chain system.

Symbol is the most effective hybrid chain platform

Symbol is designed for exactly these types of hybrid solutions. It’s highly performant for single ch

I’ve made a comprehensive and exhaustive list of the most common misconceptions about sexual consent. Use this as a resource to destroy incel’s arguments!

Historia in the recent chapters and how her development make of her an excellent and very interesting protagonist.

During all this time when Historia accepted the 50 years plan she th

Matt Taibbi: Year Zero On America's birthday, celebrating the corporate-sponsored revolution

[Note: Copy/pasted this from another sub because CWR doesn't allow cross-posting]
