Railway Express Agency(?) Safe

Hey guys. Looking to find out any possible information on this safe. album

Dimensons: 44" X 61" X 30" Serial #: 126965 The little research I have done online suggest that 'Railway Express Agency' safes are one of the top three counterfeited logos on safes and I have no lineage or history on this safe earlier than about 1960.

My Dad started working for a company in 1973 that had this safe and the original owner of company came from Sweden in the late 50s. So even the recent history has no confirmation other then it actually being around.

My Dad ended up buying the company and is now retiring and looking to liquidate the office. He asked me to see if there was any antique value to this safe or resale value at all.

Thanks for any input you can provide!

Pokemon Go friends! Let's help each other.

Please make note of the difference between a Gym and a Pokestop! Pokestops are everywhere and they are locations to collect items. Gyms are locations where you can battle other trainers to take control. These usually have a pokemon on top and will become very large on your screen when you get close

Please give as specific of a location as possible when you list found gyms.

To keep track of gyms easier, use this simple trick. When you see a gym, click on it. When it brings up the gym, there is a picture in the top left corner that when clicked will show a larger picture and often a description of the location. Screenshot this and you will have an easier time remembering the gyms encountered on your Pokemon collection journey.

Pokestops are too numerous to actually list. This would be ridiculously long if we decided to list every one that we found. They also only give items so they are way less consequential.

##Vazgen Manukyan camp

Manukyan and other allies of the former regime resumed their rally in Baghramyan street. Today they will decide on what to do next. They continue to reject Pashinyan's call to hold snap elections now, and want to appoint their candidate as a temporary Premier instead. They've been trying to pressure the Parliament to hold a vote to fire Pashinyan, but so far the ruling party stands by him.

ARF Ishkhan said they don't plan to leave Baghramyan Avenue until the Parliament removes the Premier.

They eventually decided to blockade the Parliament building 24/7. Manukyan urged the creation of 200-member groups who will take turns to patrol the building from all sides and prevent any MP from entering, unless they are going there to vote for a new Premier [preferably himself]. "Պետք է չկարողանան այստեղ մտնել: Այս մուտքը փակված է, գնացեք, փակեք այն մուտքերը: Տղերք, առաջ:"

They will install more tents and spend the night in front of the entrance. The activists moved to other corners of the building, where they met a large presence of police forces. "We have no intention to enter the building." "All Yerevan roads will be permanently blocked and the situation has only one solution," said BHK MP Naira Zohrabyan.

HHK Vahram Baghdasaryan met with President Sarkissian recently to convince him to challenge Pashinyan's order in the Constitutional Court, to prevent CoGS Onik from being fired. Baghdasaryan believes today it'll be clear how the events will unfold. When asked by a journalist whether he believes Pashinyan pressured Sarkissian, he expressed doubt.

The president of the Bar Association Ara Zohrabyan, who recently joined the opposition in support of Onik Gasparyan, says that President Sarkissian has chosen the "path of adventure" [by allowing Onik to be fired]. Zohrabyan declared that there must be something that made Sarkissian afraid, and vowed to "uncover his fears".

Amid President Sarkissian's ongoing refusal to save Onik Gasparyan's job, Vazgen Manukyan sharply criticized Sarkissian, saying "We don't have a president. We have a rich tourist who lives in a taxpayer-funded building with servants."

Who Is Higuchi Ichiyou? (Spoilers if you haven’t fully watched/read Bungou Stray Dogs)

Higuchi Ichiyou, a port mafia member and the one who commands the Black Lizards. She isn’t respected by the mafia, she isn’t useful to the mafia ability wise but why is she here?

Let us begin from the beginning.

Who is the real life Higuchi Ichiyou?

She was born on May 2, 1872 in a nagaya (row house) on the premises of the Tokyo prefectural office (present Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo Prefecture) in Uchisaiwaicho, Ichi shoku, Daini daiku, Tokyo-fu (Tokyo Prefecture). Her real name was Natsu HIGUCHI. Her father was Tamenosuke (Noriyoshi) HIGUCHI and her mother was Ayame, the fifth daughter of the Furuya family; Ichiyo was their second daughter. She had an older sister (Fuji) and two older brothers (Sentaro and Toranosuke), and was followed by a younger sister (Kuni). Making Higuchi Ichiyou the fourth child.

Her father, Noriyoshi, was a peasant in Nakahagiwara Village, Yamanashi County, Kai Province (present Koshu City, formerly Enzan City). Her grandfather seems to have been familiar with creative writings such as haikai (seventeen-syllable verse) and keisho (the most important documents in Confucianism); it is said that Noriyoshi preferred academics to farming and, as his marriage with Ayame was not permitted, they practically eloped to Edo. Noriyoshi began as a servant in the Bansho shirabesho (a government-run Western studies education and research institute) and, by good fortune, became a jikisan (immediate retainer) of the bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) by buying a kabu (a right to become doshin) of doshin (a low-ranked official) in 1867. After the Meiji Restoration, he became a low-level official and acquired the status of shizoku (a family or person of samurai ancestry), but was dismissed in 1876. After that, he made a living by working as a real estate broker and similar things.

As a young child, Ichiyo was raised in a family of moderate means, and she enjoyed reading from the time she was small; she read kusazoshi (illustrated story books) and it is said that she read through "Nanso Hakkenden" (a story of eight samurai and a princess of the Satomi family in the Nanso region) by Bakin KYOKUTEI when she was seven years old. In 1877, she entered Hongo Shogakko (Hongo Elementary School), but could not continue because she was too young, so she enrolled in Yoshikawa Gakko (Yoshikawa School), which had been established privately by Tomikichi YOSHIKAWA. In 1881, Toranosuke, her second older brother, set up a branch family and appr

##Artsakh will have aviation lab to teach drone production / education reforms

Education Minister Lusine Gharakhanyan: The current educational policy in Artsakh must take into account the existing challenges.

One of the priorities is the program of introduction of security systems in schools and kindergartens. We're drafting the plan.

We'll develop TUMO and IT in Artsakh. Soon, we will install TUMO Boxes in Martuni, Martakert, and Askeran cities to serve 320 students.

We want to expand the ArMath engineering and robotics program by building 12 new labs this year. 10 out of 30 labs were lost during the war.

We want to create a technopark in the educational system of Artsakh. In April of this year, we will open a drone workshop in Stepanakert School N3, which will be an educational aviation laboratory.

Question: which Artsakh settlements have resumed education in schools?

Minister: with the exception of Szneq (Askeran), Sus (Qashatagh), and Hin Shen (Shushi), every school has resumed its activities. There are 18.6K students, compared to 23.9K before the war. The other 5.8K continue their education in Armenia.

Question: have you helped teachers who lost their jobs as a result of war?

We have registered 280 teachers from areas that are no longer under Artsakh's control. We helped 58 of them to find a job. We will have a new initiative soon to help others. We're working with Armenia's EduMin.

##Saturday marked Artsakh Movement's 33rd anniversary

Artsakh President Arayik: February 20, 1988, entered our history as a symbol of the revival of the national spirit, strong unity, and unbreakable will. A beginning of a whole period of struggle, reconstruction, and creation, loss and victory.

33 years have passed since that day. Today, the Armenians of Artsakh are living through one of the most difficult periods in their history. They live, keeping alive the spirit and ideas of 1988, confident and asserted that the path they have chosen is right and irreversible. More than ever, today they must live and prosper on their native land.

And for the sake of our martyrs and generations, Artsakh will be reborn again, will rise from the ruins, and will continue its eternal course.

Pashinyan: 33 years ago, not only Artsakh was reborn, but also the entire Armenian nation. The spark of the rebellious spirit of the people of Artsakh lit our hea

Creating a comprehensive C:S wish list with corresponding mods - feedback strongly desired!

Hello everyone!

I am creating a list of every single “want” and good idea for improvement in C:S that I have thought of and have encountered online. The majority of the ideas listed below are my own but a few are ideas originating from others that I unfortunately am unable to credit since I rather spontaneously decided to undertake this project. This list will include any feature that is not included in the vanilla game or DLCs and will include mods.

The goal is to compare an “ideal” version of the game with what we have built over the last 6 years and 1) determine how I can help or petition others in helping to bridge the gap and 2) provide a resource for beginners on which mods to utilize to get these expanded features. To that end, I will eventually attach the name of the mod and creator to each function that has been achieved in the workshop.

My ask is that if you have the time (honestly, at least 10 minutes) to read through this lengthy list and let me know in the comments what you think. If you have any new ideas I would very happily accept them and will credit you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

System Mechanics

  • Dynamic weather that changes with the season and time of day. This would allow users to experience more stark differences between night and day, as well as experience differences in seasons and be able to switch between environments at will.
  • A more realistic approach to time in the game in which the city can be explored in real time, or sped up to the point of days or weeks speeding by as is currently available. This would coincide with a realistic construction mechanic in which buildings take months to construct and can influence traffic patterns.
  • A realistic approach to "leveling-up", redevelopment and adaptive reuse plus an overhaul of the ridiculous abandonment feature.
  • A lighting overhaul which would bring realistic colors and shadows to the game while allowing them to be customizable. This would also eliminate the blue haze, reduce the oppressive clouds in the game and minimize the amount of seagulls.
  • Eliminate the horrendous polluted ground appearance.
  • All 81 tiles can be used from the beginning and users can choose which square to start out on.

"The Flying Man of Hebei" - Huang Yanqiu's 1977 Flyover of China

Background
Just realized that I've been unintentionally covering the Chinese encounter stories in reverse chronological order. Starting with Guiyang's "Flying Train", or rather, a meteor or a freak tornado, what I'm really going for is slowly cranking up the weirdness. Well, not exactly, as Meng Zhaoguo's alien sex is pretty out-of-this-world already (pun not intended) for being the 2nd-in-line. However, considering the nature of the following alien encounter, I can assure you that the increment of weirdness between the stories is huge but consistent. Since it occurred in the province I was born in, and knowledge of the event is pretty widespread in China (thanks to a documentary by the China Central Television, CCTV, that also gave millions of zoomers like me nightmares), I'm eager to dig in. With that said, let's cut to the chase.

The 1792 book, Fantastic Tales By Ji Xiaolan, written by Ji Xiaolan (who could've guessed), recorded one incident:

"In Ye County (present-day Laizhou), Shandong, dwells Prefect Lin Yumen's 80-year-old father. Though plagued by poor memory and can't walk, he still has a great appetite... One day the elderly man asked his entourage to fetch him something in the house, while he sat outside alone. When the entourage returned, both the old man and his chair were gone. The family looked around for many days to no avail. It then happened that Lin's friend came back from Qingdao (across the Shandong Peninsula from Laizhou). The friend asked the worried prefect: 'Are you looking for your father? He's now at Laoshan, Qingdao, and in good health.' Lin quickly sent his servants to retrieve his father. When asked about how he got there, the elderly man replied: 'I felt two mysterious figures carrying me through the sky.'"

The tale of Lin's father had many parallels with Huang Yanqiu's journey. Though, the two men only carried the old man across the Shandong Peninsula, while for Huang, it was a journey of a lifetime flying across China.

First encounter
Huang Yanqiu's story plays out in three parts, occurring during the summer/early fall of 1977. Living in Handan, Hebei, in north-central China, a city hailed as the "capital of Chinese idioms

Your 12-minute Monday report in 2876 words.

##what caused Saturday's 4.9M quake? / Yerevan & Pambak faults / new seismic map / earthquake stats

Academy of Sciences said: nature has reminded us that we live in a seismically active region. The first one struck the Sevan mountain range borders near the Shorja settlement. The other one, on Saturday, near Masis. They were ~4.7M.

These earthquakes are associated with two different seismically active faults (?) in different tectonic structures. The first quake was related to Armenia's longest Pambak-Sevan-Syunik active fault, while the second one with Yerevan's deep fault.

Both are known to seismologists after extensive international research and are part of models/maps approved in 2018 by the government. That data was used to create Armenia's seismic bypass map in 2020.

According to the seismotectonic model, the maximum earthquake strength in the Yerevan deep-fault can reach 6M. This fault is typical with a high number of weak-medium earthquakes.

In the Pambak-Sevan-Syunik fault, however, it can be much more powerful and reach 7.5M. For comparison, the 1988 quake was 6.9M.

Globally, there are up to 25 annual quakes that are above 7M, and 180 above 6M. Armenia has 300 annual earthquakes with mostly under 2M.

Yerevan's first recorded quake was in 1910 at 4.5M (6 bal). Another strong one was in 1937 with 4.8M (7 bal).

We will further examine the last two earthquakes and provide more details and publish the data in scientific magazines.

Emergency Ministry: 100 aftershocks were recorded after the Saturday quake.

##seismic resistance in schools and kindergartens

We learned yesterday that 46 schools are being rebuilt with seismic resistance in mind. The Emergency Ministry examined 26 schools and kindergartens in Yerevan after the Saturday quake and believes that buildings are strong enough. No cracks were formed on the main structures. Some existing cracks were deepened.

Mayor Marutyan said 12 kindergartens underwent a renovation recently, with another 6 planned for this year. Another 15 will be renovated with energy-efficiency in mind.

##French Senate calls for official recognition of Artsakh

The Senate voted 305-1 to approve the non-binding resolution to urge the government to officially recognize the Republic of Artsakh.

It took into account the following:

  1. European agencies concluded that Armenians cannot live under Azeri rule today due to anti-Armenian racism.

  2. The history of war crimes against Armenian civilians living in Azerbaijan (Sumgayit and Baku massacres).

  3. Turkey's role in aiding Azerbaijan and meddling in other countries' affairs.

It condemns Azerbaijan for involving foreign mercenaries.

https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/201658

PM Pashinyan: The decision by the French Senate is historic. The recognition of Artsakh is now on the international agenda.

https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/201662

Artsakh MFA Mayilyan: What's notable is that the resolution urges the restoration of 1994 borders, which, in essence, were enshrined in the trilateral statement signed by Azerbaijan and Armenia.

We express our deep gratitude to the Senators and everyone who invested efforts to make this historic decision possible.

Azerbaijan's refusal to discuss their occupation of Artsakh lands removes all the barriers for the international community to recognize Artsakh.

Your 18-minute Friday report in 4440 words.

##interview with General Artak Davtyan, ex-General Chief of Staff / Drone production / Legal issues with army draft

Question: Turkish Bayraktars are assembled with imported items. Why can't Armenia do the same?

General: we need large financial resources and time. We worked and continue to work on it. Some of the projects weren't effective. Military Aviation's creation of the "Krunk" drone was a success. The production was transferred to High Tech Ministry but there are some obstacles for them; they don't have enough space and resources.

The army placed an order but the manufacturers couldn't fulfill them. The government can give funds, but that's not enough. We need large direct investments. We need large facilities and testing areas for long-term success. This problem won't be solved overnight.

Question: the company has to be sure that when they create a drone, the government will purchase it. Do they have the assurances?

General: yes, but before the MOD buys the drone, it has to undergo testing before entering serial production. The process before MOD makes a purchase is a lengthy one, and companies often do not have the resources to go through it.

Sometimes companies can create prototypes with imported parts, but when it comes to serial production for the military, they come across legal obstacles while making purchases of components from foreign sellers for mass production.

Question: are there laws that prohibit parts export to Armenia?

General: nothing targeted. When I was GCoS, we worked with various govt agencies to resolve problems.

Question: you were a member of the military industry committee when the war began. Did the Armenian army use any product made in Armenia on a large scale during the war?

General: yes. For example, mortar shells. They aren't new, though. The list is limited, unfortunately; up to 7 different weapons. We also tested experimental drones and other weapons during the war. The MOD will make a decision about their further development.

Question: High Tech Minister posted a video during the war, showing how an Armenian suicide drone blows up a building. Were they used and did they make a difference during the war?

The 10 biggest scandals in Kosova in 2020

##1) The disappearance of 2 million euros in 8 Minutes

Although during 2020 there have certainly been dozens or more thefts, there is no doubt that the biggest one, or at least of those that have been made public and that have been officially acknowledged, is the theft of the 2.1 million.

That is the amount that has "evaporated" from the state treasury in a few minutes. The day the theft was reported to the Treasury, the Finance Minister said that despite the scandal, the state money is safe.

But the lack of 2.1 million in the budget was noticed only after seven days.

The investigation into this case was initiated after an official in the Ministry of Infrastructure noticed that they have 2 million euros less budget although there was no transfer of funds.

The person responsible for this has totally nothing to do with PDK

##2) Theft of the safes

At midnight on Wednesday, when it was announced that 2.1 million were stolen by a State Treasury official, another theft was committed in Kosova's institutions.

About 300 kg of safes were stolen from the Veterinary and Food Agency. Although they had the task of securing the facility, the police did not notice any irregularities until Thursday where the lack of safes was noticed.

##3) Elimination of the Task Force

The Government of Kosovo, led by the illegal Prime Minister Hoti, dissolved the Anti Corruption Task Force which, among other things, had launched investigations against fellow members of his cabinet.

This institution, established about 10 years ago, dealt only with those cases that were considered high profile. 10 years after its formation, illegal Primeminister Avdullah Hoti, who during these years has been part of the executive several times, realized that the decision was in violation of the Constitution.

The US Ambassador Philip Kossnet called this decision wrong and urged the Hoti government to respect the constitution.

##4) Ambassador positions belong to family

Illegal Primeminister Avdulla Hoti did not seem to pay attention to the decision made by his minister of foreign affairs Meliza Haradinaj.

One month after the formation of the government, in July 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives the highest rank possible in the diplomatic service to the brother of a LDK minister .

Opposition leader Arsen Babayan was briefly arrested while unsuccessfully trying to close the road to Zvartnots airport to prevent Pashinyan from flying to Moscow. The Increasing Use of Facial Recognition Technology in India #ProjectPanoptic

https://preview.redd.it/l56mlay50fg61.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=2e7fdb348b39f64f93d4132e1f85de079de1160c

tl;dr

Under Project Panoptic, we have been tracking all ongoing use of facial recognition technology in the country. In a letter to the Parliamentary Standing Committee, we relay our concerns to them and ask them to call relevant stakeholders such as ministry officials and privacy experts to depose before them.

We wrote to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT

On November 27, 2020, we launched Project Panoptic with the aim of raising public awareness around the use of facial recognition technology. The use of this harmful technology is being done secretively throughout the country, with most citizens unaware that they are under the gaze of a camera equipped with the technology.

By raising public awareness through transparency, we hoped to drive accountability for these projects and the authorities which are developing and deploying them. However, another goal which we had envisaged for Project Panoptic was to drive policy change. It is with this aim in mind that we have written to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology asking them to conduct hearings on the use of facial recognition technology by government authorities in India.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology has included its scope issues related to citizens’ data security and privacy. One of the rising concerns that affect citizen’s data security and privacy in the country today is the unregulated and illegal use of facial recognition technology by various government authorities at the State and Central level. Use of the technology has risen exponentially in the past two years, with India at the cusp of launching the world’s largest facial recognition technology system through the National Crime Records Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The use of this technology by various governmental authorities, however, has already started. On March 11, 2020, the Ld. Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah, while replying to a short duration discussion on the Delhi riots in the Lok Sabha, stated that, “Police have identified 1,100 people through facial recognition technology”. ##Foreign Ministry about Artsakh's legal status

Question: Azerbaijan referred to Armenian MFA's visit to Artsakh as illegal and a provocation. Was the visit a violation of an agreement?

MFA: These are baseless accusations. The November 9 statement does not impose any restrictions on relations between Armenia and Artsakh. It does not change Artsakh's status. Artsakh's status must be decided through peaceful negotiations, based on the OCSE principles and the right for people's self-determination.

Question: is Azerbaijan following through with the November 9 statement terms?

MFA: the widespread military actions ended and peacekeepers were installed, but Azerbaijan later violated the ceasefire by attacking villages Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd, resulting in casualties.

Azerbaijan has not fully fulfilled the 8th point of the trilateral statement about exchanging POWs and search operations. They intentionally delay the process.

https://armtimes.com/hy/article/203983

##Pashinyan's spokeswoman about mutually lifting transportation block:

Azerbaijan wants a transport connection with Nakhijevan, while we want a railway connection with Iran though Nakhijevan, and a vehicle/railway connection to Russia (alternative to Georgia's mountainous road that's often closed). Armenia is ready to provide a link between Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan.

However, a full discussion of these issues will be difficult without the full implementation of Paragraph 8 of the November 9th joint statement, about the exchange of war prisoners and bodies.

Recent statements by Azerbaijan on this issue (calling some POWs terrorists) are puzzling and call into question Baku's commitment to implement the November 9th statements. There are still Armenian captives held in Baku. There is evidence of cruel and humiliating treatment. This should be investigated in international institutions.

Armenophibic rhetoric continues in Azerbaijan. This must be stopped in order to establish stability and peace in the region.

##Parliament votes: vehicle tech inspection frequency and electronic oversight

Parliament voted 83-24-4 to approve a government bill to define how often and how vehicles must be inspected.

Currently, the tech inspection process is almost non-existent. You can buy an inspection sticker from a bank, stick it to your windshield, and never actually undergo inspection.

After the reforms, you won't be able to buy a sticker. You'll take the vehicle to an inspection facility that is connected to a unified electronic database and reports your vehicle's flaws to the database. The police will have access to it if necessary.

Inspection frequency will change. The first inspection will be conducted on the 4th year after the vehicle's production. Then once every 2 years if the vehicle is under 10. Then once a year if the vehicle is older than 10.

Public transport vehicles will be inspected twice more frequently.

##Parliament votes: smoking is considered distraction while driving

Parliament voted 82-0-3 to approve a government bill to prohibit smoking and driving. The authors cited statistics suggesting that smoking served as distraction that lead to incidents.

The opposition's offer to reduce the penalty was approved. There will be a 0.5 point penalty instead of 1. Public transport drivers will lost 1 point. It's unclear if the $13 fine was kept after the amendment.

For now, the points will be deducted only if the act is caught by a camera. The police patrols won't be enforcing the point-based trafic enforcement system in general until mid-2022.

I’m a dentist for monsters. I prefer the city to villages.

I thought about the Beast of Cordyline Hill often in the week that followed the convention and the incident that had occurred there.

If I had continued to lose blood at the rate I was losing it in the moments after my accident then I would’ve died. Quickly. That’s if nothing else had made its way to me before I succumbed to the blood loss.

Coco said that once he got me out of the underground palace he held onto my arm and one by one each puncture wound closed and disappeared, as if it had never been there in the first place. The Beast of Cordyline Hill had healed me. I owed him my life.

And all he wanted in return was an appointment.

I wasn’t familiar with the Beast, but I knew about Cordyline hill, a well known hotspot in the industry for monster activity. A place I would later grow to detest the mere mention of.

Secluded, idyllic and only served by the paranormally inclined Connected Railways the village was barely ever noticed by average humans. The few that did reside there were entirely accustomed to the strangeness.

It was situated just far enough out of sight that without directions and intention, it was difficult to just happen upon it. Cordyline Hill was a haven for the abnormal.

It was an area I had only visited once, not long before I met the aforementioned Beast at the convention. Forgive me for the lack of linear events but it’s important you know about that trip to the village before I tell you next time how the Beast’s appointment went.

Coco and I travelled there the morning after my first night with Pearl.

My life turned upside down the day I became a mother. I’m sure there’s plenty of you with children thinking the same thing, but I assure you, your experience wasn’t a patch on mine, I had nothing to go on.

I knew Pearl needed a good home as soon as she consumed Coco’s finger on that first day in the practice, after Eudora Finch had placed her in my arms and fled. I’d spent years gathering information on monsters of all varieties and, while scared, I was pretty confident I could handle her.

What other choice did I have anyway? Dump her at a regular hospital for her to become a spectacle? Or leave her with someone else well versed in all things paranormal, none of whom I trusted.

There wasn’t really a choice at all.

A glimmer of hope after 19 years? The Disappearance of Passy Reyes (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia – 18 July 2001)

I’ll preface this by saying this post is a little bit different to the usual Unresolved Disappearance cases on this subreddit – but also for me too. It’s a Missing Persons case which I wasn’t actually aware of until earlier this year, when I stumbled upon an old newspaper whilst doing a cleanout of my home, during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The case I present, is the disappearance of Passy Reyes – an 18 year old girl, whom vanished from her home, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, in the early hours of Wednesday,18 July 2001. She had been studying for her final year of high school, for the Higher School Certificate (HSC). Her disappearance did attract media attention within Sydney at the time, and New South Wales Police did issue an appeal to the public.

During my initial research of Passy’s case online, there was very limited information – I suspect much of the data originally published about her case, has vanished off the face of the World Wide Web in the intervening years since 2001.

However, also during my initial research, I found a discrepancy on the New South Wales Police Missing Persons Enquiry System – which for me, raised questions about Passy and the status of her case; a “mystery within a mystery” if you will. I will go into more detail about this, further on in my post.

I had began to draft this post, when the NSW Police actually made the move very recently, during August 2020, to highlight Passy’s case in the first episode of a new podcast series, NSW Police State Crime Command – Investigations (Sources: Apple Podcasts, Spotify); and which has been publicised across Australian media. This podcast has also covered details of Passy’s case, perhaps previously not published – making this quite a rabbit-hole of a case.

Passy still remains missing, sadly after 19 years, although this new podcast has apparently already provided some new leads from the public, according to the NSW Police – which is the aim of this podcast series (Source: Today – Nine Network).

I will cover Passy’s case

Preston Bolden-found murdered near railroad tracks in San Antonio, Texas on May 8, 1953-Closed Case Under the Civil Rights Division Emmett Till Act

21 year old Preston Bolden's body was found near railroad tracks in the vicinity of 419 Nolan near the 600 block of North Walnut Street in San Antonio, Texas on May 8, 1953 around 6:00 a.m. Preston's body was found by [name redacted in the Department of Justice's closing memorandum] who was walking along the railroad tracks that morning and saw Preston's body laying between the tracks with his head pointing west and wearing a shoe only on his right foot. Thinking Preston was asleep at first, [name redacted] tried to wake Preston but then noticed he was dead so [name redacted] used a neighbor's phone to call the police. The memorandum noted that [Name redacted] was not acquainted with Preston.

Two officers [both names redacted] arrived at the scene and filed a report. They found Preston without a hat and on his back near the Southern Pacific Railway tracks. Preston's left two-tone brown and white shoe was missing and his shirt was pulled up. The officers noted that Preston had been struck in the front of the head as his face was covered with blood. They found a pair of dice and $2.30 in cash in Preston's pockets which led them to believe robbery was not the motive. Other witnesses in the area reported hearing an argument in the area but an investigation later showed that the participants in the argument were in no way related to the circumstances surrounding Preston's death. Another officer, whose name was redacted, reported that he saw an old model Plymouth with a canvas top near the railroad tracks around 3:30 a.m.

Justice of the Peace M.D. Buck Jones ruled that the cause of death was "murder at the hands of some person or persons unknown.” According to the police report, Dr. G.D. Boyd said Preston's neck was broken at the third vertebra and an autopsy found that Bolden’s spine was severed at the base of the skull by a blunt instrument. The autopsy also noted that Preston died at about 2:30 that morning.

1953 San Antonio Investigation:

The San Antonio Police Department along with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office investigated Preston's murder. Several witnesses who were acquainted with Preston told police that Preston, nicknamed Mullins, was in the company of friends the night before and was gambling with them. Their description of the night before are summarized below but contains a number of redactions:

The Tale of Don Moretti (1)

Stories are an interesting thing, everyone has one to tell, but so few are heard. So what makes mine any different? Far too often, geezers babble on about the experiences that made them alcoholics. I might be the only one, but I loathe hearing those; it shows how weak they were in the end. So maybe my angle is that I can offer a perspective that you might not be used to. I just turned 40, but in the last 20 years I’ve lived through enough crazy shit to eclipse dozens of lifetimes. There's too much to go over in just one entry, so I’ll have to break this up across multiple posts, God knows how many. I could just hop around aimlessly through the timeline of events that led me here. You can have your entertainment in short bursts without having to think too hard about how it all connects. I know that’s popular right now, so I’m gonna take the contrarian route and structure this a little more cohesively, force you to remember shit from entry to entry. This won’t be a series of half baked events hamfisted together into a flimsy narrative, there is a point to it all, or I like to think there is at least. I’ll skip past most of the boring parts with this entry and start at the point when things get moving.

The beginning of the 21st century was met with optimism so short-lived that it’s almost funny. A particular incident in 2001 guaranteed 2 decades of paranoia and unrest, but for me, that began the year prior. October of 2000 was when I was forced to flee my hometown and set out in a world I was unfamiliar with. I spent the following years wandering aimlessly; it wasn’t until 2003, during the beginning of the Iraq war, that I found a lead towards a goal that was at this point nebulous at best.

While other men were riding the tidal wave of patriotism and enlisting en mass, I had spent the previous year with a group of thugs contracted by private art collectors to go around breaking into the storage units of other private art collectors and retrieving pieces they were interested in. I joined as a lookout in hopes of scraping together enough change to fund my goals. We disbanded after I shot an overly-invested security guard, and though at the moment the intention was to lay low for a while, we never truly regrouped. I kept in touch with the leader, a douche named Brett since he had connections to many influential people. I was surprised when he pulled through with a legitimate lead. I used to teach English in Tokyo, and I'd like to talk about some of my experiences

After I graduated college, I lived in Tokyo for a year teaching English. It was one of the best times of my life, and I still go back to visit every year (unless there’s a pandemic). Even though I only get to see them for a few weeks every year, my Japanese friends are some of the closest friends I have to this day. For all of the wonderful experiences, though, I came back to the US with a few experiences that were…less wonderful. Some of them were bizarre, some of them were frightening, and some of them I still cannot fully explain what I saw. I’d like to share some of these stories here.

The company I worked for had an apartment set-up for me, which was very convenient as many rental agencies in Japan don’t like to work with foreigners. It was also well subsidized, which certainly made a difference. The only downside is it was kind of far from where I worked. I worked pretty might right in Central Tokyo, but my apartment was on the far Western edge of the Setagaya Special Ward, which made it (by Tokyo’s standards) fairly suburban. Suburban in Tokyo is a little different than suburban where I’m from; the local train station served about 75 Thousand passengers a day, and there was a built-up shopping district, including restaurants, bars, karaoke places, and convenience stores (I’ll probably talk more about the convenience stores in a different post). That said, once you got a few streets away from the train station, it got very quiet, and very residential. My apartment was about a two-minute walk from the train station, and even that close my street was often very quiet. My apartment had a small balcony (very common in Japan, partly for smokers and partly for how few people own a drier), and when the weather was nice, I’d sometimes like to just sit there and take in the tranquility, punctuated by the clanging of the barriers at the train station.

Pretty much everywhere there is to go in Tokyo, there’s a train to get there. They’re cheap, inexpensive, pretty fast, and most of all they’re remarkably punctual. Companies have issued formal apologies before over delays of as little as 20 seconds. Signage on the trains is also very foreigner friendly; at every station (at least in Tokyo) most signage is in English and Japanese, and increasingly you’ll see Korean and Chinese also. There’s a high overlap between written Japanese and written Chinese, but for the situations where the written Japanese just doesn’t quite work, they’ll put things specifically in

##investigative report about Azerbaijan's use of phosphorus bomb

DFRLab (Digital Forensic Research Lab) wrote an article about the bomb. It uses satellite photos to confirm that phosphorus was used against lands controlled by Armenians, therefor the Azeri claims of "Armenians using it themselves" are baseless.

It notes that the use resulted in damage to nature. The video was shared. It notes that the international bodies did not pay enough attention to this incident, although Transparency International's Armenia office did publish "ecological alarm" paper.

##a volunteer soldier tells his story:

His account of events: The volunteer forces were not properly commanded, which resulted in desertion. In 2016 we also had organizational issues when people reached the front lines disorderly. When this war began, there was a selective draft instead of everyone being called to commissariats.

The volunteers were not prepared to fight. I myself had not held a weapon for 23 years before this war. After spending a few days in a military base and being properly armed, they took us to the most immediate front line. 52 of us with 2 commanders dig trenches and prepared for the next morning's attack.

The morning's attack was overwhelming. We gave 6 deaths and 4 wounded. Commanders told us to retreat to avoid encirclement; 12 of us chose to stay without a commander; I became the commander.

Then the regular army came to aid. We fought for 10 hours and crushed the much larger enemy group. We asked the regular army to take us in their ranks, despite us being volunteers and less experienced. The Lt. Colonel agreed.

This was a military organizational issue. The government is right that the volunteer/mobilized troops couldn't do their duties, but it wasn't their fault. Volunteers weren't properly trained before the war.

##opposition rally & internal politics

00:28 1st president Levon to opposition: accept the Agreement as an established reality, at least considering the fact that the war is over and there will be no more casualties. The final resolution will happen soon and Armenia should take serious preparations.

##"This isn't out war" / Talysh minorities complain about Azerbaijan's discriminatory draft & hate speech

A few days ago we learned how the government of Azerbaijan intentionally drafts disproportionately higher numbers of ethnic minorities. A new report came from Talysh activists.

The letter reads: There is no military solution to this conflict, as it will only lead to problems for future generations. We are extremely concerned about the steps taken by the Azerbaijani authorities to send the Talysh to the battlefield.

We condemn the government's efforts to sow hatred in our community towards Armenians. Most Talysh people are dissatisfied with this situation.

On the one hand, the government of Azerbaijan suppresses freedom of speech. On the other hand, it is exploited by those with close ties to the government to present as if there is hatred of Armenians among the Talysh.

We call on the Azerbaijani government to finally end its policy of sowing hatred. We urge the Talysh not to engage in hate speech. We urge them to refrain from participating in clashes. We have never been an opponent of any people in our history;

Gravity's Rainbow Reading Group | Sections 70-73 | Week 21

Hello everyone!

We're nearly at the end, so well done to everyone who has made it this far, including those of you who are reading these threads years after they have taken place. This thread was, like my comments, typed up on the Notepad app on my phone, which has a questionable spell-check function. As such, I'll be returning to the thread over the weekend to fix any spelling mistakes I might have missed. Also, because this thread was too long to post, the final part of it will be put into a comment below the main body.

SO WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR:

Section 70

The section begins with a return to teenage witch girl Geli Tripping, who is wandering the Zone in hopes of finding her lover, Tchitcherine. She plans on enacting some kind of elaborate spell, which involves the use of a few select items: "a few of Tchitcherine's toenail clippings, a graying hair, a piece of bedsheet with a trace of his sperm, and tied in a white silk kerchief, next to a bit of Adam and Eve root and loaf of bread baked from wheat she has rolled naked in and ground against the sun." The purpose of the spell will become clear in Section 72, but, for now, let's just talk briefly about one of the used items.

"Adam and Eve root," also known as Aplectrum, is a real plant - but it only grows in the United States. Obviously, the importance lies in the name - it calls to mind the imagery of the Tree of Knowledge, a mystic symbol which implies the forbidden enlightenment of experience, and how this evokes the wrath of authority (represented by God). By including this forbidden plant in her ritual, Geli demonstrates the anti-Christian freedom inherent to witchcraft, and therefore also points towards magic as an empowering alternative to the orthodox structures of belief, which is something you'd be wise to keep in mind throughout this thread. This is why there are hundreds of girls who are searching for Tchitcherine, but only she can find him - as a witch, she has escaped those orthodox structures, and is able to see the whole pattern from the outside.

She takes these items to a secluded farmhouse, where an older, wiser witch speaks to Geli over her morning Bauernfrühstück (which "is a warm German dish made from fried potatoes, eggs, onions, leeks or chives, and bacon or ham." From Wikipedia. It looks like an omelette.) Geli is unable to provide a picture of Tchitcherine for their spell, and suggests that she's sometimes able to find his face in tea leaves, but not often. The olde

##UPDATED - January 2021 - Japan has indicated further restrictions on Entry to the country. It seems as though all non-resident Foreign Nationals will be barred from newly entering the country regardless of whether a COVID-19 variant has been discovered within their country and it seems Business Travel will also be included in these restrictions as well. Again, we strongly urge you to check with the Embassy of Japan in your departure county to confirm your entry.
