Quartzite Countertop Chip

Our quartzite countertop just chipped around the sink :/ we are debating getting it filled in but it costs $150 from the seller so we're not sure.

Does the initial chip put us at higher risk for more chips, or that one propogating? Or are we basically in the same situation as before?

Countertop material recommendations? Quartz (Silestone), quartzite, other?

We’ve lived with Formica laminate for years, but we’re remodeling and looking to upgrade. There are many options, but we are considering a quartz material like those that are popular these day. Some names are Silestone and Corian.

We are sticking with a plain white countertop with subway tile backsplash, but are unsure of the pros and cons to the engineered quartz materials (quartz in a resin matrix?).

Do these materials resist staining, burning, etc.? We understand quartzite is quite durable and resistant to staining, but we are not looking for the inescapable grain patterns typically found in these.

(EDIT) to note: At the one place we were shopping at yesterday, we were told we would have to buy quartz in sheets, and that if we needed even just a small partial of a second sheet, we’d have to buy the entire second sheet, no matter how much β€œwaste” would be left over. That could be a rather expensive proposition. As it is, I think we may actually use most of that second sheet. Just an observation. I’ll continue looking into this. I still have to better figure out our square footage. I believe a sheet is just under 11 linear feet, or about 22 square feet.

Sealed my quartzite countertop, but forgot bag of cherries on light grey quartzite over night, now theres a dark spot on it, am I screwed?

Is the spot permanent or is there a way to remove it? Previously water stains would go away after a day, not sure about this though. Any tips appreciated!

What material do you recommend for a kitchen countertop: granite or quartzite?

We're discussing the possibility of redoing otr kitchen and I'm wondering what to do regarding countertops.

I understand that quartz is the new it material and in vogue, but the wife is in favor of natural stones (and I'm somewhat inclined to agree).

With that said, what would you guys recommend? Which material should we use and why?

Etched Quartzite countertop

Hi Reddit!

Short of hiring a pro or replacing it, is there a fix for this etching? It was caused by a descaling liquid from the Nespresso.

Shown in the picture is a compound used for marble - but this is Quartzite which I understand is significantly harder.

Thanks!

Countertops--Granite and Quartzite and Quartz, OH MY!

TL;DR. What's the real skinny on the heat resistance of Quartz. Am I going to ruin it when I bake cookies and absentmindedly put the cookie sheet directly on the surface?
I've started a major kitchen remodel and am looking at kitchen countertops. There is some very expensive Quartzite that I fell in love with, and some far less expensive quartz that I really like. My designer tells me that any heat issues with quartz are overblown and that I have nothing to worry about. The countertop salespeople say anything over 150 degrees is a problem. Who is correct?

How do I clean and keep clean a quartzite countertop? Pics inside

New to home ownership here... we have quartzite countertops. We've noticed these rings popping up everywhere that don't come out with normal cleaning methods. Is there a specific cleaner we need to use on this (other than elbow grease)? Is there a sealer that we need to put on to keep these rings from forming in the first place?

Sealer question for new Granite (quartzite) countertops (I posted this same question in DIY also)

We just had our quartzite counter tops installed today, and they look fantastic. I know that they need to be sealed every 3-5 years, and they sold me a bottle of sealer.

The sealer they sold me, is the water based, Stonetech Bulletproof from DuPont. I know it's a highly rated water based sealer. They told me to apply it every other day for the first 7 days. http://www.tilecleaning.org/stonetech-bulletproof-review.htm

When the guys were doing the install, they wiped down the counters with Stone Shield, which is a solvent based sealant. https://www.braxton-bragg.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/store7catalog.level/bc/0,8448,9947,10717/ I am willing to spend the money on the best sealant for these counters.

Should I buy more of the Stone Shield, and just use it, or use the bulletproof or what?

Looking for recommendations for best looks long term.
