Not sure about the other trading apps but Trading212 prevents people now from buying shares. Quote:
Not sure if they are really concerned about their customers, or they've been lobbied by hedge funds to prevent ordinary people from destroying them. I don't care about GME and AMC, I have no position, but now I am angry for this decision. They always go against the poor individuals and let the billionaires save their asses. No one saves us when we go bankrupt by them.
Let that sink in
Edit: thank you for all the rewards and comments! What a great community we are!
Edit 2/1: Iβve been banned my WSB mods from posting. Can any mods help me get unbanned? Iβm thinking itβs a rogue mod whoβs angry I posted about GME and SLV both being squeeze plays. Note I also posted about SLV before all this conspiracy stuff including weeks ago.
The short positions put on by the hedge funds are posing a systemic risk to the market. Bail out both sides by liquidating the hedge funds, but not the brokers or clearinghouses, but also put a buy order in for $10k per share to allow GME shareholders to exit. Isnβt $700 billion better than a financial meltdown? Just like last time you can βput rules in place to make sure this wonβt happen againβ
In 2008 the banks held risky assets and got bailed out because they said the innocent normal people would be hurt even more if you didnβt bail them out, so the government did it.
We posed a risk to the liquidity of the hedge funds, brokers, and clearinghouses yesterday. By bankrupting them it would probably cause a temporary stock market crash as they liquidate their positions.
Are we not now in the same position as the banks were in 2008? Buy us out of our positions for $700 billion to save the rest of the market and the normal people right?
Edit because it got attention: if this ever was a reality it would in the form of a loan to clearinghouses and brokers to cover any losses up to $10k per share. They would have to pay it back over time. The government would get the money back and reimburse taxpayers, while at the same time collecting taxes from the gains of the retail investors. Long term the clearinghouses and brokers recover, the market continues to function, and then they never let hedge funds put on a risky play like that ever again. The hedge funds involved are deservedly bankrupt, and the retail traders get the reward they deserve by playing the free market game by the rules.
I was doing a 10 boss invitation and I lost all 6 portals to a combination of the Grave Trough boss slowing and preventing movement skills, and then another boss slamming or using a large telegraphed attack that I was incapable of avoiding.
The purpose of these large telegraphed attacks is to get the player to move and dodge, having a mechanic that prevents moving and dodging is frustrating at best and certain-death at worst.
I can get behind a slowing mechanic that isn't avoided by Temp Chains immunity, but I think that preventing movement skills is a little too much in the context of multi-boss fights.
Final update for the true onions: All the cooking is done. I have another wonderful pot of caramelized onions. The smell really wasn't too bad once the cooking finished. Since we've got a huge orange tree and Costco sized vanilla extract, I put a big handful of orange peels, a couple generous swishes of vanilla extract, and some water in a pot and let it simmer. The house smells great. I will never forget you onions out there.
Update 2: After doing a majority of the cooking in the instant pot outside, the onions are now on my stove. Luckily I just got a new range hood less than a week ago so that's on full blast. Guess what we've decided to include in dinner tonight? Hint: it's onion rings.
Update: Day 2 is upon us. I just finished cutting up about 8 quarts of onions. I have an instant pot coming up to pressure on my porch as we speak. A fan is blowing in the direction of my cutting station to the window. I immediately washed all my cutting equipment and wiped the counters with a mix of dish soap, water, and lemon essential oil. I promise Iβm not a crazy essential oil lady, I just like the smell and it makes a good cheap all-purpose cleaner. See you all in about 2 onions for another update?
Edit: Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I have decided to postpone the onion marathon until tomorrow due to me being drugged up on Benadryl and not wanting to enter an onion-induced coma. Tomorrow is a new onion. Wish me onion. Onion.
We are now entering a potentially dangerous phase for WSB. I won't repeat or cover all the various reasons why people are looking at this sub, nor what they are saying.
The goal must be to ensure we don't tank this sub, and tank our tendies.
Its pretty simple: people who are used to making the rules and making money of the ignorance of others are on the wrong side of the trade, and they don't like it, and they won't take it laying down.

They have extremely deep pockets and can throw insane amounts of money lobbying, getting talking heads on tv or lawyering up, if they haven't already. The narrative is pretty clear: WSB is acting like a mob; they are distorting the market; this isn't allowed.
We are playing into their hands somewhat. We are helping fuel their arguments. If you don't want to lose this sub, here's what you can do
πππππππππππ
1. Don't do dumb shit that will allow people to make legitimate complaints. Simple examples:
a. Doxxing or harrassing people e.g. Citron or Melvin Capital.
b. Trying to get people to buy particular shares of one stock in a concerted effort e.g. "Lets all buy 10-100 shares of GME at 1000 EST."
c. Publicly representing that we are in any way an organised, singular entity.
2. Don't give Reddit a reason to shut this down.
a. Chances of the SEC investigating WSB based on complaints are reasonably high; actually taking action though, the chance is v small in my view. For one, it would be hard to show intent and prove who was doing what to the price. Regulators only like to take on slam dunk cases - they dont have enough resources or political capital to waste on potentially losing hands. The exception is if there is a big public interest in doing so...this is another reason to observe point 1 above. This is not to say they won't give Reddit a call to say "we think you need to sort out A,B,Cβ but this is v different from an enforcement action.
b. Focusing on what the SEC might do misses the point. The threshold for a company disowning a small part of itself, to protect the whole, is very small. Reddit has 330M users. WSB has 2M. You do the math.
Never mind trying to work out how much revenue Reddit makes from people who produce our quality of meme.
c. Any company who is aware that par
... keep reading on reddit β‘I know this isn't new, but it is new to me, and it's really too me an abuse of power on Microsoft's end.

Edit: Thanks for all the responses, I don't need a solution on how to block them, it was more just an annoyance that Microsoft is taking the opertunity to abuse a security system to insure they can collect user data.
I was testing sharpapp, and noticed it crashes when attempting to uses one of the templates, this crash was caused by defender blocking the IO when attempting to save the host file changes.
It always strikes me (29F) so hard and kinda feels like they fell out of the sky because it happens so infrequently. I meet some decent people on apps but then all of a sudden there will be some guy who just seems to appear out of thin air and Iβm fixated. When it does happen itβs like a ton of bricks has hit me.
Maybe this sounds a bit immature and naive. It doesnβt help that I become pretty awkward and nervous around them because Iβm so struck by them and sometimes I feel like I fail to be my true self because the nerves and excitement are out of control.
At the very least I feel lucky that our paths crossed and I got to experience them in some capacity but it makes me wonder if thereβs a reason why things donβt move in the direction of dating or relationships with these people. I think to myself...are they even real? Do these occurrences just happen to teach us a lesson? Sometimes I wish I hadnβt met these people at all so I wouldnβt have that sense of longing.
A bit of a weird post haha but Iβm wondering if others have experienced this strange phenomenon.
Edit: Itβs been lovely to read everyoneβs shared experiences here. Itβs one of those things that can feel isolating but the proof is in the comments that none of us are alone on this.
The best word that describes this phenomenon is probably a crush. For some odd reason I didnβt think crushes could still feel like this as an adult but here we are! Iβve realized that I need to take some deep breaths in the moments when Iβm around people who have that strong effect on me and understand that they are just people too.
Thank you all for the amazing discussion and awardsβ€οΈ I couldnβt respond to every comment but Iβm soaking it all in. Hereβs to history not repeating itself.
Good morning folks, this is your regular update from TERF island. The current conservative government, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to turn their attentions towards a nagging desire to inspect the genitals of those using public toilets. Now, you might well wonder why the government is concerned with toilets right now, given the COVID death toll in this country just passed 100,000, but that is the situation as we see it right now.
See the full call for evidence here - Toilet provision for men and women: call for evidence
Now, obviously this sorts of laws are based on the misconception that cis men will claim to be trans women in order to assault cis women in public toilets. This basically never happens. However, what they do do is give transphobes an pretext to police transgender people's use of public toilets.
The implications for trans women are obvious, but since this is MensLib, we need to talk about the implications for trans men. Imagine for a moment that you look like this, but are legally required to use the women's toilets because of your gender assignment at birth. You see the problem immediately, don't you? Instead of making cis women comfortable and safe, these laws put trans men at risk of reprisals from people angry about "the pervert in the women's toilets."
What we are seeing here is a cynical attack on some of the most vulnerable people in the UK in order to distract from a catastrophically bungled response to the pandemic.
British redditors, we are all going to submit evidence to this inquiry saying "Actually, we don't want the government policing who gets to use which toilets." Redditors from other countries, you are going to signal boost this so as many people see it as possible.

I really love to terraform in Minecraft, and I would really like to create a black sand beach. But upon touching water, the black concrete powder turns solid, which ruins the view. So how about we can wax concrete powder, so we can create beaches, out of concrete powder?
edit, I've put it on the feedback site. Tho that version is more of "Dyeable Sand" instead of "Waxing concrete powder" , but if requested, I can post a variant of waxing concrete powder too.
Hey guys,
By request, I have uploaded that CNN interview about WSB to IPFS so it can no longer be removed by YouTube or anything. Feel free to spread the link around - I have no ownership rights to take it down, so yeah. It's there forever now. You're welcome.
Here's the mp3 (viewable in browser by clicking here)
https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmepVnaz91DG9kcjtH9LsgCDiTmnP1zHW3sdXtWD9HmPrT
Here's the multihash: QmepVnaz91DG9kcjtH9LsgCDiTmnP1zHW3sdXtWD9HmPrT
Replicate it / download it on the IPFS command line like this: `ipfs get QmepVnaz91DG9kcjtH9LsgCDiTmnP1zHW3sdXtWD9HmPrT` (or you can use their desktop client to get it!)
ipfs.io has information on how you guys can use this tech to your advantage to spread information without fear of censorship. IPFS is like a permanent archive - more permanent than web.archive.org - yeah.
Show your support for their project over there - they're fighting to ensure an open web for generations.
Hi everyone - a little more context on why I did this. It wasnβt necessarily for the specific video... but to show yβall that you can preserve evidence permanently using IPFS. Itβs like the cloud... but it never goes away (it is βByzantine fault tolerantβ)
If you see something say something but also download the fucking video and put it in IPFS so corporate scum at Google canβt suppress your speech. You want to stick it to the hedgies? Fight censorship with censorship-proof technology. π
