Sorry if something like this has been posted before, and please correct me if i am wrong, but the only time i recall Snape saying the word harry, in the films at least, is during the meeting with Voldemort and the death eaters at the start of the deathly hallows. I believe he says “harry potter has been given the highest protection” or something like that. In the books it’s a bit tougher to recall but i still don’t ever remember him calling harry by his first name.
I find it interesting as it shows how Snape almost has a predetermined hatred to him purely based on his last name and, while he does definitely share traits with James in both appearance and personality, he was never the arrogant bully that we know James to have once been, yet Snape treats harry like he is anyway.
At the same time it could be seen as Snape wanting to dissociate him with lily who was in Snapes eyes this perfect, kind girl. Don’t get me wrong, lily definitely is those things, but it’s almost like he doesn... keep reading on reddit ➡
I'm sure a lot of you already know the story but it still strikes me as this strange controversy all its own.
Quick rundown: LaRoche would have his son with him close to 100% of the time. He had his own locker, hung out in the players' clubhouse, took part in on-field drills, and traveled for away games. This was actually a stipulation in LaRoches' contract prior to signing with the Sox.
At some point Ken Williams asked him to tone it down a bit..which he didn't. Drake LaRoche standing on the mound in the middle of infield drills would lead to the climax of the story: Williams, infuriated by this sight told LaRoche the privileges would be revoked. He promptly retired leaving 13 mil on the table and the White Sox players enthusiastically supported him and publicly voiced their anger towards Ken Williams.
EDIT: The clubhouse was actually somewhat divided over this. Chris Sale and Adam Eaton supported LaRoche. Not sure about the rest.

There are already many great answers in the other thread, but unfortunately not everybody reads the comments, so I think this deserves its own thread.
Unless you're writing non-fiction, the only requirement is a good, sellable book. I'm represented by a top SFF agency and my book did not get professionally edited, I don't have any relevant social media presence, and I don't think my handful of pro short fiction sales were a decisive factor. I know many, many agented authors and this is the rule, not the exception. Furthermore, I don't even live in an English-speaking country. Your geographical locations matters exactly 0, too, if you're wondering. (Unless you want to be a screenwriter.)
Having a shit-ton of followers and literary awards and blah blah will help you, no doubt about that, but they're just a bonus. Not a requirement.
And regarding professional editing: no. There are many freelance editors lurking in writing subreddits who'll tell you differently, but no. Not... keep reading on reddit ➡
I didn’t notice until recently, but in Galar the champion, the main rival, the main villain, the villain’s brother and the 2nd and 8th gym leaders are both black and relatively prominent (or Indian. At the very least all these characters are dark skinned).
Compared to when I first played Pokémon with DPPt and there were... no black characters. This is a HUGE improvement and I’m glad ever since around Black and White they’ve been adding more diversity to the cast with characters such as Lenora, Iris, Grant, Olympia, Kiawe, Olivia and more.
While I don’t think they are the best Pokémon games I’m really grateful for the positive black representation in video games!
Edit 1: I forgot to mention the first official deuteragonist in the anime, Goh! Another tan/dark skinned person and the first character to actually be on equal footing with Ash in terms of being a protagonist! He’s a great addition to the series!
Edit 2: For those that say darker skin characters wouldn’t make sense in the J... keep reading on reddit ➡
Characters will stand next to a closed door, have a full conversation and the door won't move until they want to go through it. This happens a lot.
Characters can stand within inches of closed doors. And nothing. Then, it will open when required.
I think this is the place to post this. When i was little, i was very attuned to beings of different realms, think fae, ghosts, lower vibrational beings etc. I experienced trauma as a child connected to my father and when spending time in his home i recall seeing a large black mass, interacting with and feeling safe near it. possibly i called it to me somehow to protect me from danger.
fast forward to now, i am 20 and have lived in many homes since then. recently i have started feeling this EXACT same being present in my current home. only it was very angry, and overwhelming. i spoke to it through candle light and the conversation didn’t go very well, so i cleansed the apartment with sage twice and didn’t feel it for some time.
recently during a nap with my partner, i experienced what i initially brushed off as sleep paralysis. i was laying on my stomach, face down and suddenly, whilst very much awake, my body went heavier than lead and i was paralysed. i felt the very essence of m... keep reading on reddit ➡
The information in this post may be offensive for some viewers to read. Beware ahead as it's going to go into stalker-like behavior, child abuse, emotional manipulation, and more. I feel as time goes on, this needs to be addressed by Blizzard, and to an extent, the community. Please bear in mind I am not familair with reddit formatting.
Hello everyone. I am from the Moon Guard server, which many of you may know as degenerate central. In actuality, most of the roleplay that happens within the server is tame and normal. What people mostly think about is Goldshire and the people that go there.
For years, this has been the norm; you go there to engage in 'erotic roleplay'. That's where you go, and no one bats an eye. The community knows it, and of course, Blizzard knows it as well. Perhaps the inaction on Blizzard's part is to keep it contained so it doesn't spread across the in-game world (i.e Stormwind, Darnassus, etc). Sadly, inaction has gone too long and people are starting to... keep reading on reddit ➡
Context: After a series of unfortunate events in which almost all government departments managed to bollock up the defence of Sol (aka, no one could decide what to do and the few that did have the conviction to act, refused to cooperate with one another and ended up causing more damage to themselves then the enemy), several thousand Space Marines finally arrived in Terran orbit to bail them out of the fire. The High Lords are thoroughly unimpressed with being saved in this manner and have ordered the Space Marines to disperse and return to their home units.

Things have been all quiet on the Western front since FDH and I moved out, so I figured I'd regale you all with an old tale of the Witch of Next Tuesday. Grab a hot cocoa and settle in!
This happened years ago, when FDH and I still lived at our respective family houses, we relished any time we'd be able to "play house" as we called it - basically just cooking dinner together and sleeping over because neither household allowed sleepovers. Crazy, depraved shit, I know.
Anyways, my JYMom was going out of town for a weekend so I had the house to myself! Oh frabjous day! FDH began packing his bags for our mini staycation of smashin' and cookin'. Then, a dark a shadow was cast over his suitcase. The WONT had noticed he was leaving the house.
Dun dun dunnnnnn
Complaints, questions and guilt-trips were volleyed at FDH as he collected his things, until finally, the kicker:
"Will OP's mom be home?"
"No," FDH explains, "that's why I'm staying there, to help OP house-and pet-si... keep reading on reddit ➡
