Google is a failure of a business.

EDIT: Let me preface this by saying, almost everyone seems to hate this post and is pointing out the shortsightedness of it. I have thought about it a bit, and while I do sort of stand by a few of my points, I really hadn’t put the right thought into it when writing it. That being said, feel free to continue berating me for this post because it was a pretty poorly-written opinion on Google.

The post:

I once posted this on r/unpopularopinion, and it received negative reception - just as actually unpopular opinions always do. Here’s what I said:

Google is an absolute failure of a corporation.

Think about it for a moment. The only remotely successful thing of their own creation is their search engine because of the ads. Everything else they’ve branched into was a complete miss. Google Glass? Failure. Google+? It got shut down. Stadia? We all try to act like it never happened. The one thing aside from the search engine that is successful is Youtube, but let’s not forget that it isn’t their own creation - they saw opportunity and bought it out. Problem is, they progressively made it a more and more hated platform that was increasingly less friendly to content creators over the years. I feel as though it’s just a matter of time before Youtube goes to shit and doesn’t recover from it. Gmail is successful, one could say, but it ties into their only truly successful piece of work: Google, the search engine. And if you ask me, that’s what they should’ve stuck with.

r/The10thDentist changelog:

Really, all I’d update about that is just reiterating that their only successful ventures is their search engine and other successful businesses that they bought out. Obviously that’s smart business if played right, but... it’s not technically Google who is always responsible for their success. And in some cases, it’s a shitshow- like Youtube.

Changelog pt. 2: comments have made valid points on things I never really thought about, such as Google Drive, Chrome, and a handful of others. I may have focused more on the failures than successes, but I do stand by the fact that they’ve had questionable success ratios on business ventures.

How Hawk Got His Mojo!

Preface: It has been an incredible journey thus far. I really enjoy that you, Dear Reader, enjoy the Hawk stories. Despite the flak, I would like to state that there are only twelve Hawk stories thus far; not twenty. I had the "pleasure" of working with Hawk for no less than two years, and have many wonderful memories, and they are all completely true stories. Again, you are under no obligation to read this Military Story. You are more than welcome to bypass or downvote. However, I am also more than willing to provide the Mods proof of my numerous Purple Hearts (Reference "An Outdoor Fresh Scented Purple Heart.") Regarding this story, I am more than happy to provide the Mods photographic evidence of a combat proven rhesus macaque monkey.

Despite sounding odd, parenting and Soldier-rearing share many similarities. The most important similarity, without doubt, is being directly responsible for the health and welfare of another human being. They are both very rewarding, yet tremendous duties. The decisions you make, or fail to make, can lead to disastrous consequences. Therefore, only the most accountable adults should be entrusted with this phenomenal responsibility. Cue the entrance for Army adage.

"It Fucking Briefs Well"

Every single sentence in the previous paragraph is one hundred percent true, and I surmise we are all in agreement? I will also venture another guess and merely assume we all agree the statement, "It fucking briefs well," is worth its weight in gold. There is no prerequisite for parenthood. Making Cake was due to a failed extraction during Operation Squish Mitten. I didn't plan to have a child that Can Actually Kill Everything (CAKE), and the only test we had to pass was a pregnancy test. Dear Reader, for those of you without children, please understand the "First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test" does not prepare you for parenting if you "pass" the test. At least the Army, and military, prepares you to become a "Leader."

However, there is one slight drawback regarding Soldier-rearing. You are not starting with a crib-midget. You are not afforded the opportunity to cultivated a young mind as it progresses through the wonderful stages of life: Pooper Trooper, Crib-Midget, Todzilla, Mini-Human, Teen-Genius, and Pre-Soldier. The absolute best candidate you can possibly receive is a seventeen year old human with parents that willingly co-signed his or her life to Uncle Sam. I didn't get an untainted seventeen

Hawk Drives; We Shoot. The Saga of The Broken Leg

Beg for Hawk, and You Shall Receive!

TLDR: Hawk Drives; We Shoot

The "Why?"

My youngest mini-human, Cake, is addicted to Fortnite. The creators of the game are actually quite genius. They allow children to download a highly addictive game for FREE. Then sell marvelous character upgrades such as weaponry, gliders, and outfits with V-Bucks; fake digital currency. The catch? Cake, meaning OP, has to spend "real" money in order to by useless "fake" loot. He is always in dire need of a COOL FUCKING UPGRADE. End of the world type type shit. I hear you though! "Get to the fucking point OP!"

Dear Reader, some of you have Cake-like tendencies. Yes. YOU! I was thoroughly immersed in a report regarding the economic struggles within Lebanon, and good ole Lebanese Hezbollah (LH). Then another Redditor walks in my man-cave garage and virtually demands another Hawk story. End of the world type shit. I crumble for Cake, and I crumble for you. I suppose it's good to be your own Reddit boss! I now give you what you want, and hope that I am able to finish the rest of this Intelligence Summary (INSUM) before you come back into the garage with a gash on your head, from riding your bike, with your thinking-bits hanging out. This is why I tell you to wear a fucking helmet.

My apologies! Some of the background information is often buried in my comments. Are you prepared to ride shotgun in my brain? Excellent. It is outfitted with a five-point safety harness, because the standard seatbelt will not adequately protect you. Strap yourself in dear reader. I suggest your keep your extremities inside the vehicle. Please take this seriously, because I already know we are about to lose a foot.

Sloppy Eye Scream Met Military Stories; Military Stories (Sorry) Met Sloppy Eye Scream

The impetus for my venture into the waters of Reddit was due to a suggestion from my unit's operational psychologist, Chris. My organization is extremely compartmentalized. The humanoids that endured the stress of our six-month pipeline are my brothers. Every member of my Squadron is as well. However, if you are not in the two aforementioned categories, the odds are great that you are a complete stranger.

I was in the mountains supporting a gateway exercise for the Soldiers in our pipeline. Supporting the exercise was a slight reprieve from the rigors of work. It also provided an opportunity to see the crop of new Soldiers and provide "draft pick" recommendations to the Squadron Command Sergean

JNMIL and the case of "someone's getting more attention than me"

TRIGGER WARNING: talk of cutting/self-harm

I'll preface with - I have a million big and small stories to tell, as my MIL and my mother are both No's. However, this happened at our most recent visit to MIL.

We went to DH's Aunt's house for his brother's birthday. His mother lives there as well, due to a host of health issues, an inability to competently care for herself, and the fact that she is possibly the filthiest hoarder to ever live on this planet. So the gathering consists of me, hubby, his brother, brother's girlfriend (that he claims isn't because of the drama it would cause with MIL), MIL, and Aunt. Aunt is lovely. She rarely ventures into No territory, and never does it on purpose.

MIL... though... well. I missed the convo and only caught the part where my husband was talking about how he had cut his leg working with a piece of scrap metal. This happened about 9 years ago, and it was a pretty big gash- he bears a scar about 3 inches long from it.

Turns out what I missed was MIL telling everyone in the room that my husband cuts himself, calling him a cutter, and saying that he does it for attention.

When we got home, and he told me that, it was everything in my power not to fly back up there (probably getting a bunch of speeding tickets in the process), and tell her exactly what I thought of it.

She was incredibly abusive to my husband when he was a child. As an example, after buying him a Subway sandwich, she punched, slapped, and shoved him, calling him fat ass, piece of shit, telling him she wouldn't get to eat now because he got a foot long sandwich (after telling both the boys to order what they wanted, that she had plenty of money to pay). He ended up locking himself in a bedroom to get away from the abuse, where he sobbed the entire time he was eating, and she screamed like a banshee outside the room. He was 10 or 11 at the time.

He says that he would cut contact if it weren't for wanting to see his aunt. I completely understand his point. We try to make it where MIL can't cut him off from the herd, so to speak, because that's when the comments happen, and so forth. We've blocked her phone number from both his personal and work phone, so that she can't call him. He does try to call her once a week, but is considering stopping that also.

This woman is off her rocker. When we sent out our wedding invitations, she came to our house, blocked us in our driveway, and proceeded to tell us we were trash and had no class because she di

In my hometown, our fields were covered by a fog the whole summer

Nestled on a cliff with no beach, our little town would be just another unremarkable remote place most people wouldn’t think about twice; but, for as long as I can remember, we had a tourist attraction so irresistible that people we didn’t know would swarm our streets in the summers.

Our winters were uncomfortably cold due to the proximity to the sea; springs were awfully rainy and, with all the strangers moving around every summer, the only season I was actually able to enjoy was the fall.

You see, every summer a whimsical fog covered the best part of our fields; the crops were intact when the equinox came, but they couldn’t be worked for three whole months.

Our ancestors tried to circumvent this issue by choosing plants that could mostly take care of themselves for a while, exchanging them by more delicate species in other towns and, most of all, by spreading the word about the fog, so people would come to check out this unique oddity and hopefully make our pockets fuller.

Needless to say, it worked. By the time I was 17 and a junior tour guide, we had a waiting list of two years to visit the foggy fields.

The town was so small and so geographically limited that we simply couldn’t create space for more tourists without making the locals’ lives even harder.

The reason why the fog was so popular wasn’t only its strangeness – a permanent, heavy fog that lasted exactly the entire summer, no more and no less – but because we believed that any couple who entered the fog together would have a long and happy marriage.

It wasn’t a mere belief, because the proof was all around, plan to see. All the married couples in town were still lovey-dovey, there were no divorces, no couples screaming to each other, no broken homes; a couple’s counselor that ventured to this place would starve.

It was almost ritualistic for newlyweds and recently engaged couples all over the country to come and spend a ridiculous amount of money on our modest hotels and bland meals, trying to make sure that they’d live happily ever after just like our kin.

Some couples, like my parents, even offered small lectures about how they made their marriage perfect every day, by catering to each other’s needs unconditionally and whole-heartedly.

And they weren’t the only ones – it was more than once per summer that I heard from even older couples the excruciating details of their passionate sex lives.

As a teen, I thought it was disgusting, preposterous and even concerning that mom and da

Specs Going into Kaldheim

To preface, I just wanted to get this out before the Commander Legends hype-train starts up, and get this out before too many people start thinking about Kaldheim. Also, there is a link to possible, although unconfirmed and unsubstantiated leaks, here: "https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGRumors/comments/j746qc/potential_kaldheim_spoilers/".

I make my judgements off of a few conclusions:

 1. The Commander decks will continue to be released like they have been for ZNR and Commander Legends
 2. The List may change its card pool for each set but will continue going forward
 3. RL cards will continue to spike regardless of their playability
 4. WOTC will continue to print overpowered cards that see play in older formats like Modern and Legacy

To disclose my position, I will be picking up 1-6 of some of the cards below, but have not yet.

Misc. Specs:

[[Kethis, the Hidden Hand]] and [[Time of Need]]

These are based purely off of the spoilers above, that seem to indicate some degree of "legends matter". These two cards here support that archetype perfectly, and depending on the support for legends in the set, these two cards stand to make some gains. While banned in Pioneer, Kethis is legal in all of the other major formats, and is unlikely to see a reprint. Pioneer showed Kethis's power, and with enough support from Kaldheim, it could become viable in Modern. Time of Need is a little riskier, with it being a possible reprint target, and an uncommon, but that said it is still a 2 cmc tutor, and should not be underestimated.

[[Extraplanar Lens]]

This card is infamous for its interaction with Snow basics, particularly in EDH. With the Snow supertype being all but confirmed for Kaldheim, this is poised to spike should a mono-color Snow Commander be printed. That said however, with WOTC's reprint policy as of late, this could be a risky investment, as it may show up in the EDH decks for the set (This depends on the other decks, as they have yet to put a card of such value in such a cheap product). More likely, this could be a prime target for the next iteration of The List, and if production cleans up, that could seriously hurt the value.

Coldsnap:

Allied Snow Duals ([[Boreal Shelf]], [[Arctic Flats]], [[Frost Marsh]], [[Highland Weald]], [[Tressorhorn Sinks]]):

A weaker spec, being that they are only uncommons. That said, it is very likely th

I lost my only chance at Shadow Mewtwo

This is going to be a very lengthy rant/story whilst I run through everything that was going through my mind at the time of my "incident". Please feel free to skip down to the TL;DR if you want the very short story.

I'm going to start off with saying that the roll-out of the new rocket event involving the new special research task called "An Inter-Egg-Sting Development" has been the most confusing release to date. I know Niantic isn't known for their communication with their own player base but you would think releasing Shadow Mewtwo to the whole of the Pogo Community might warrant a little bit more effort.

I mean we are talking Shadow Mewtwo here and there wasn't even any in-game news regarding it, you had to click on the link via the "What are these Strange Eggs? Save them from Team GO Rocket during the autumn event!" post and then proceed through the convoluted blog post all the way to the bottom. Which I guess leads to the start of my story and also my first major mistake.

I will preface this "story" with that unfortunately this is probably the first time I did not read the full blog post regarding the newest event. I had actually spent the previous five days away from home and had only returned the night before the new Rocket event was beginning. I however frequent both the website LeekDuck and my local Pogo Discord server and both of these sources were actually where I received my information that Shadow Mewtwo was finally being released via the new special research task. So here I am having just returned home completely knackered and also just finding out that Shadow Mewtwo will be available as of the next morning and I'm absolutely beside myself with excitement so I quickly brush my teeth and head straight to bed eager for the next morning.

So I get up in the morning and hang out with my partner until she has to leave for work but also making sure however to let her know about the new event and that Shadow Mewtwo would now be obtainable. She was quite shocked to hear it from me as she hadn't seen any news about it in game also and was only currently aware of the new "Strange Eggs" (unlike me she typically doesn't read the full blog posts as I usually let her know what's going on currently in-game). Anyway I head off on my venture to acquire Shadow Mewtwo with the added incentive of the new Strange Eggs, at this point I actually decided to purchase the cheapest bundle in the in-game store for the Super Incubators just to make sure I'd defin

Experiences with moving to New Orleans from outside the U.S?

Hey guys.

Not entirely sure if this is the right board but I'll venture a question for you regardless. Apologies if I am mistaken.
I'd like to preface with best wishes for all of you in the city and I hope you're safe and well if you're reading this!

Given the pandemic and recent changes I find myself obsessed with the idea of fleeing my home country in search of a fresh start as soon as it is safe to do so. I'm from Ireland myself and I'm just wondering what have been people's experiences with moving to New Orleans from countries outside of the U.S? What is your day to day living experience like relative to where you came from? Do you like the city? All these general questions.

Thanks for taking the time!

Stay safe.

Denis Villeneuve's preface to the new French edition of DUNE (via Le Point Pop)

Preface to DUNE written by Denis Villeneuve (via Le Point POP)

Dune opens with a slight dizziness: humanity survived some twenty millennia when Paul Atréides was born. This promise appears even more disturbing today, as we collectively know that our world is vacillating in silence, before our eyes, as in those frightening dreams, due to sleep paralysis, where the body no longer responds to consciousness. We hear apocalyptic echoes daily from scientists predicting a collapse in the balance of our res, but we barely budge, remaining convinced that our mastery of technology will ultimately overwhelm nature. This fantasy of domination of the elements does not date from yesterday. We have always had a penchant for challenging the gods. Obviously, we have gradually lost our sacred relationship to the world. This is one of the reasons why I believe Dune is completely current.

If the sentence "The XXth century will be mystical or will not be" attributed to André Malraux is indeed his, I dare to imagine that he foresaw the potential complete desacralization of the natural world by the hypnotic exacerbation of a savage capitalism. With this tendency to objectify nature overflowing western borders, neoliberal policies and their globalization turning into real planetary dogmas, economic religion now reigns over all spheres of human activity. Everything can now be bought, even the conscience. This system is overpowering, ruthless, cheating, with colonialist overtones, sometimes even generating psychopathic corporate entities, in short this system is Harkonnen. And to overthrow it and survive its consequences, we may have to follow in the footsteps of Muad'Dib.

The idea for Dune was born in 1957, when Frank Herbert flew over sandbanks bordering the Oregon coast between Coos Bay and Florence. He then moved from Seattle to write an article on an ecological experiment: a new species of grass had just been introduced there with the aim of stopping the spread of the dunes which threatened vegetation, roads and plans for drinking water. From the power of nature and the human effort to try to control it, a momentum was born that would animate all of his creation for the next twenty-five years...

Frank Herbert explores, in particular, the links between ecology and religious forces by orchestrating a true celebration of the living and its

I am at my wits end.
 • Male

 • 28 years old

 • Syrian

 • non-smoker

 • Contacted Hepatitis around 5 or 6 years ago. Liver almost failed.

 • Serious mental issues as a product of prolonged period of duress and threat.

I need to preface first that I am Syrian, have witnessed the events firsthand (though to be fair my experience was nowhere near as horrid as some of those around me) and is still living there. I graduated as a civil engineer some years ago, but only barely due to the issues I suffered from. I'm not sure whether what I suffered from was PTSD or an exacerbated case of ADD but my mental state deteriorated rapidly during the past years.

I had started struggling with memory issues (forgetfulness of basic stuff, cases of tip-of-the-tongue for info that could be critical for what I'm working for that can straight last for a week or more), chronic stress whenever I tried to push myself to work (to the point of getting tinnitus, slight muscle spasms - maybe not to the point of catatonia, but still, tightness of chest and heart palpitation), restless sleep - if I manage to sleep at all - and a hazy mind and lack of focus culminating in psychotic dissociative phases or episodes (can't count past 100 or 200 due to losing train of thought; bouts of complete detachment of reality).

Last year I managed to score an appointment with psychiatrist whom prescribed Seroxat (4 pills a day) Deanxit (1 pill a day) and Limbitrol (once daily) for me.

Treatment had lasted for around 8 months and was pleasant overall. I felt lightheaded, blurry and narcoleptic throughout but that's par for the course. Around July the doctor decided that the treatment was enough of a success and called for me to gradually reduce dosage while keeping me on Limbitrol as it significantly improved the quality of my sleep.

Fast forward to around the beginning of August: We had to pay a huge sum of my and my family's savings to renovate our house after the plumbings got clogged, I am out-of-a-job and work on the internet for minimal pay. I started looking for a job in the handicapped market to no avail (normal jobs don't pay for naught - around 20$ a month - and ones in my line require minimum 2 years of experience which I don't have) as well as started working on a personal venture (a portfolio of written articles which I can use to apply for jobs), but at one point the stress got to me and I completely cracked. Ideas I shared in r/conspiracy about the universe in relation to UFO technologies. Inherent nature of the universe? I developed these ideas using a post related to sacred geometry on this board, as it was the missing puzzle piece to my ideas.

SS: My personal ideas on UFO technology, after making many connections, digging to find the truth. The picture attached shows one aspect of the geometrical nature of the universe. Does free energy exist, and is it involved with UFO tech? Video attached shows a defector of a secret society describing their belief system of sorts, which fits perfectly with what I have been researching. Hint hint, they have known about the geometrical nature of the universe an the importance of numbers for all of recorded history, yet, in my opinion, are withholding important information that could benefit all. They think we are unintelligent, or not worthy of this information I presume. I argue that humanity deserves this information. I, a nobody, am starting to put the pieces together. If I can do it, the human race can grasp it as well.

Here is a collection of the geometrical patterns between the planets. https://bytesdaily.blogspot.com/2014/01/from-thomas.html

Here is the video in reference to the massive coverup by secret societies who believe in the geometrical nature of everything.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBkgI34mMH0&list=LL&index=8

As a preface,I would like to say that this is just an idea I had whilst meditating on information I have learned thus far.

Has anyone ever heard of the Rodin coil? It is this disk like structure that could potentially be a source of free energy. Potentially, the technology used in these UFO's is a sort of extension of this. I have seen this coil used to light a lightbulb wirelessly, and am willing to provide references if anyone wants them. This fits in with my research of Nikola Tesla, who wanted to provide free, wireless energy for all.

What I believe is that numbers and geometry are inherent to the creation of the universe, if not the language of it. I believe that Tesla knew this as well. The image attached to this post is a picture of, if a line was drawn between mars and earth, that is the pattern it would make.

On its own, it is just a beautiful pattern, but...

Look at the universe on a smaller level. Precise geometric patterns, seemingly based on the golden ratio appear in nature frequently. All life, as well as the universe itself seems to follow very specific geometrical concepts and forms.

What I have found is that there may potentially be a "gre

Toys & Living With Parents

Just to preface, I am a college student who is living with my parents - and very honestly will likely have to for a couple more years - but I wanted opinions on getting a sex toy while I'm still living with them. Should I simply wait until I move out or is this a venture that's worth it? Are there any folks who have toys while they still live with their parents? Any tips you might have for finding discreet toys? For reference, I'm a trans man.

A bit of extra information: my parents completely respect my property in that they don't look through my things or through any packages I get, however, I wouldn't say they're entirely sex positive, nor are they negative toward it. It's more that it's never talked about, never brought up, although if it is, they don't shy away from it or avoid it. They'll talk freely about it when it's brought up, but only then. And, there's no issue with my hands so of course a toy isn't needed, ya know, they get shit done, but I'd like to start exploring further.

I'd appreciate any response!

So I Read the Book in One Day: Here are my Loose Thoughts

So let me preface this by saying I watched the series because my mum kept telling me it was amazing and I was cynical about it highly. I'm 21, I’m white, I’m a guy old whose never really had a emotional connection with mainstream 'romance' in films or TV shows but I have to say this series broke me as a person and as a man. I decided to read the book, and to be quite honest, it was the first book I've ever read in a single day. Here are my thoughts about the book, baring in mind I read it after I watched the series. What I will say is this: this story has taken 90% of my brains real estate and I'm regretful I didn't find it sooner - I feel almost embarrassingly late to the party.

(PS I'm currently drunk off whisky so any spelling mistakes I am sorry in advance)

——————

The Book:

+ I loved the fact that Rooney does not give a lot of info on the exact emotional states of the characters dialogue or thoughts. I know a lot of people dislike this lack of description but for me it gives the reader a lot of freedom to envision their own perception of the C and M relationship.

+ I really appreciated Helen's description in the book and was surprised on how positive her influence is on Connell at first. Her career, her motives, her ability to be almost perfect in his eyes - someone he actually does love. I feel as if in the TV show she felt as if someone we were always meant to dislike, as if she was in the way. In the book you could actually see she meant a lot to Connell and they could of had a future together

+ The episode with Miss Neary is definitely better in the book. She comes across rather weird and Mariannes reaction is extremely protective, I believe she says openly she'll slit her throat when Connell tells her about his encounter with his former teacher. This was dramatically overlooked in the series. From my view, the fact that he told Marianne in the book was a massive trust and relationship builder for the two of them.

+ Marianne's Mum: she is far more likeable in the book - or at least understandable. She is not present when Alan breaks M's nose in the house, nor does she ask for the key for the Dublin flat like she does in the series. In the book, she feels a lot more a product of her experiences with men. Similarly to Marianne, her history with men seems embodied with violence. In the book Marianne says her dad used to hit both her mum and herself - I'm not sure why they changed this in the series to just the dad hitting the mum? You c

Interesting exchange

Long term lurker and member of this community. I just created this account to post.

I (29F) went out on a coffee date with a guy (38M) I had been texting and spoke to on the phone. We seemed to have a lot in common. One of my hobbies is doing bikini comps. I am in good shape, and I had prefaced this to him, and he’s seen pics. He said I was beautiful and so inspired. We decided to meet in person for a little coffee date this past Friday.

Well, he was late for one, and things were fine but didn’t feel a real connection. During our date, he said I was so much prettier in person, and he had cleared his schedule for me all weekend just so he could see me.

This morning I decided to write to him that I wasn’t interested in pursuing things with him further. Thanked him and wished him the best with his ventures (he has a lot of projects with work he told me about). He responded with “I didn’t ask for a second date. I immediately unmatched with you when I got home. I’m not interested in a chick who bulks up to look like a dude.” In reality, we were still matched on the site... he had texted me a few times after our date. I just said “I’m sorry you think that, no problem. Thank you for letting me know.”

Whoa. Hurtful, comical, all in one. This is dating and why so many of us hate dating. I guess shouldn’t have been the bigger person and just ghosted that dick head.

Was this an ego driven response from the guy? Now I am feeling some type of way...my esteem is a little down after that response. I know it shouldn’t be since I was ending things, but it was hurtful. What’s yalls take?

UPDATE: thank y’all so much for taking the time to read my post. I was having an off day, and that just didn’t help at that moment but reading these comments really helped! Y’all are awesome!

As an American living in China, what do the agents/freight forwarders lack? What could be better?

Hi fam, I've always been a lurker here because I've been living in China and end up purchasing using my own Taobao account and shipping to my apartment in China. So I've always felt like a bit of an outsider as I don't face the same struggles as a lot of you.

I want to preface this question/discussion with a couple of things. First, I am not here to secretly offer services as an agent. - If you need help with something and you think me being in China can assist, just post a comment and I'll do my best to help in a way the community can benefit.

Second, over the last decade, I've been building various different businesses in e-commerce and trading from China. Two things to point out; two years ago I got into selling e-commerce in the middle east, fulfilling my products from my office in China. Due to COVID, that stopped making money, and I ended up having to let go about 20 employees.

Also, I know quite a bit about freight forwarding, QC, and buying from China. And I have office/warehouse space available ready for my next venture.

The idea of offering some type of buying agent/freight forwarding service to people wanting to buy from Taobao/Weidian, etc. is intriguing, but I don't really want to get into it just to be another SuperBuy or WeGoBuy.

For those of you routinely purchasing from Chinese shops, and relying on agents, what are they missing? What do you wish existed that doesn't, or that you haven't seen?

Looking through a lot of the comments, it seems to be most people are looking for;

 1. The cheapest agent out there

 2. An agent that is proactive and can point out flaws in purchases during QC

 3. Some type of transparency in the shipping department.

 4. I understand the issue with freight forwarders is, once they realize they can charge more, they do, and end up being more expensive than agents.

My goal here is to see if my resources, skills, and appreciation for this community could contribute to something that can help make the processes easier for the majority.

Ghosts in the Machine: A Modern Gothic

I confess I was insane.

Or was perhaps the victim of a most cruel and impractical joke.

Self-diagnosis is always ill advised, as far as doctoring goes, as any damaged instrument, be it a stethoscope or a pressure gauge, shall be of little use in measuring anything correctly if it is broken. This goes most especially for measuring the instrument itself, as no instrument is ever created to measure itself, but instead, some aspect of something else entirely.

A broken clock may indeed be correct twice a day, but any clock, even the most complex and intricate, still measures only one aspect of reality, that is to say time.

A broken MAN, from whose innumerable measurements all reality is BASED, is not afforded the same luxury of being correct twice in a day, at least not usually. Instead, that man’s whole perception of existing becomes sullied, each aspect of living a slight degree less correct than it should be if that same man be sane.

I know what is like to be sane, to feel as if reality is a carriage ride upon a smooth stone road, and I know how I felt then, and the great difference between the two sensations.

That vast chasm between health and madness, I leapt, or rather, was pushed across, last Thursday, during a routine check up for one of my patients.

She was the daughter of the Viscount, a girl who I had serviced since her birth some 13 years prior, and who I quite plainly and with no intention of vulgarity would say I knew inside and out.

To my horror, after inspecting her womanly areas after her first bleeding, I found part of her internals to be made of brass-works, gears and springs. I touched one of the rotating cogs I had spied, hoping to reiterate with another sense what my eyes feared to perceive, and at once I was confirmed, my finger nearly getting caught in the meshing teeth of her internal system.

The Viscount’s daughter behaved as she normally did, until I asked her what machinery was doing lodged inside of her as it was. Her mood shifted as she went from believing I was jesting to understanding my line of inquiry was asked in all seriousness. As I attempted to pull out a gear to show her to what I was referring, she let out a shrill and painful screech, and begged that I stop. She fled my table, fearing the look in my eye and the damage I may have done, but certainly more damage had been done onto me than her.

Strength fled my body so that I could not even lift my tea cup, and I had to call upon my housemaid Tabatha for assista

Stay Clear of Main Street Ventures Restaurants

Let me preface this by saying that, until yesterday, I was an employee at Main Street Ventures, and these are the facts of the matter as I know them.

This past Thursday, a dining room manager at Palio Ann Arbor tested positive for coronavirus. This manager was the kind of person who pulled their mask down or forwards all the time, even while standing in the doorway greeting customers.

Main Street Ventures doesn't do particularly well at separating management from regular employees, and the manager who tested positive spent a lot of time outside of work drinking and hanging out with servers from restaurants all across the company. Having worked with these people for quite a while, I can say for certain that they weren't spaced out six feet apart with masks on. It's considerably more likely that they spent quite a lot of time exchanging various bodily fluids.

Palio is already open again. Gratzi was planning to open today, but they ran in to an unexpected shortage of staff. At least four employees between the two restaurants refused to go back to work, but the company refuses to give in to concerns about the safety of its employees and customers.

All four of the MSV restaurants on Main Street (Palio, Gratzi, Chop House, and Real Seafood Company), as well as Carson's American Bistro, have both waitstaff and kitchen staff who have come in to contact with the manager who tested positive within the last week.

About the ongoing Green Zebra Grocery fiasco:

Let me preface this statement by saying 4 things:

 1. I work for Green Zebra, I’ve worked there for years, and am not in a leadership or salaried position (because I have chosen to stay where I am for several reasons, not because I haven’t had opportunities for advancement)
 2. I think that $15 minimum wage should be required for the entire city of Portland.
 3. I became a Teamster while I worked for UPS years ago, and I helped occupy a certain state’s capital while fighting for teachers right to organize—I fully support unions.
 4. I do not think GZG is a perfect company by any means, but it’s about as good as it gets for a non-cooperatively owned, privately run and financed company, in a capitalist society

I am writing this because there has been a very one-sided discussion online (instagram in particular) about the current state of Green Zebra—both about the “strike” and about them closing 2 stores. This online discussion has been very 1-sided because the handful of people that decided to “strike” at the Kenton location have proven to be a relentlessly vindictive, petty, malicious, and immature group of people. If anyone shows any disagreement, they proceed to bully them into submission. This is why I created a throw-away account here. If, somehow, you find me and proceed to attack me on reddit or on other platforms online, you are only proving my point.

First off, the “strike” was not a strike by any definition of the word. A strike needs to be discussed by all the employees, and voted on. 90% of the employees I have talked to think that the “strike” was short-sighted, half-baked, and counterproductive. From what I can gather, 2, maybe 3 manipulative and disgruntled employees riled up a handful of other employees into shutting down their store. At that point, they called the other stores telling them to go on “strike.” When the other stores asked why, they didn’t really have an answer. So other stores did not join them—because they had no idea what was happening. By the way, the company has always encouraged any problems to be brought up with the CEO directly. In my experience, this has worked in resolving problems within the store.

Second, they almost immediately got their “demands” met (more on their demands later), yet they continue to talk shit about the company on social media. A week after the “strike,” the company was supposed to get a bridge loan to cover some of their expenses and help them get through the pandemic. This loan was never approve

(also personal Advice) Debating to sell my 2 cars for a truck... What would you do?

Currently, I own 2 cars (at 26) which are fully paid off. A Subaru WRX and Toyota 4runner. Both have been modified for my personal fun. WRX being modded for race use (light track/heavy autocross use), while the 4runner has been modded for off-road/daily use.

The issue is I've grown up and gotten busier with my life. My lifestyles have changed as well, which is why the 2 cars I own really don't suit my lifestyle anymore.

To Preface:

I bought the WRX new before college because I was really into racing(legally) at the time, but now that I've grown up, I kind of fell out of racing and really modifying my car. Throw in the fact that it's an extra payment on insurance, maintenance (even though I do it on my own), etc... It's just a sitting money pit (since it sits in the garage 95% of the time.

The 4runner was bought used mid way through college since the WRX became illegal to drive on the street, and I wanted to venture out into camping. I originally wanted to leave it stock, but ended up modifying it to go heavy into off roading. But now that I've moved back from college, I just don't have any crazy off road trails near me, or the time to go back to those crazy trails. Throw in the fact that it's at 160K miles, It might just be time to get rid of it before things slowly break more and more (even though I do all my work on my own).

TL;DR: Bought the WRX for racing, fell out of it. Bought the 4runner for camping/heavy offroad, too busy to make use of the rig + high mileage.

Where I am at:

I have been eyeing a Toyota Tacoma since the truck bed just makes sense for my lifestyle. It's small enough to be a daily driver, but large enough to where if I want to go camping or light off roading. Throw in the fact that I go mountain bike and fish nearly every other day or every weekend, the bed just makes more sense.

Financially speaking: I am set. Nearly $300K invested across IRA, Roth IRA, 401K, Roth 401K, Brokerage Account, with $50K in RSU's. 1 year(frugal)/6 month(normal lifestyle) Emergency fund.

TL;DR: Eyeing a Toyota Tacoma since it makes sense for my lifestyle

The Issues:

 1. I love my Subaru. Every time I get into it, I love driving the shit out of it. It makes me feel like a kid again, which is good, but at the same time... it just makes me feel like a kid... An immature kid.
 2. My 4runner just does everything I need it to do. It can do what I need the Tacoma to do, but the Tacoma would just make it less of a headache. With the truck bed,

A continuing saga: Newegg sold me a used/damaged motherboard, and is refusing to accept RMA.

TL;DR: My username describes what many have already stated: Newegg sucks. A lot.

They sent me a mother(fucker)board and refuse to allow me to return it.

Never thought I'd be that guy, but I'm so amazed at how terrible my recent experience was with Newegg that I have no choice. I promised Kelly, the smarmy Newegg rep, that I would make a point to let as many people know about this as possible. So here I am.

To preface: I am not new to PC builds. I have been building my own rigs (and others' as well, because it's an awesome hobby) for the last 20 years.

My current build (created from a different board I hurriedly purchased at Newegg Microcenter (edited) after firing of the RMA request) is here. She pretty.

My point? I am not responsible for the damaged board that Newegg sent to me. Please read further if you are interested in watching a dude get railroaded by Newegg.

PART I: ARRIVAL

Two weeks ago, I ordered a 10850k and an Asus ROG z490-F to begin a full overhaul of my PC. Both parts arrived in a box that was a little beat up, but nothing out of the ordinary for my part-time footballer delivery guy.

The 10850k arrived as described. Box closed, blemish-free packaging. Cool.

The box on the z490-F was dinged on the corner, but nothing I was too worried about. I flipped it over and saw that the sticker was slit. Bad sign.. but I continued and lifted my new board out of the box.

Goddamnit, I was gonna play Flight Simulator TONIGHT.

PART II: DAMAGE

The first thing I saw on this board was the PCI tab on the first slot which appears to have been an attempted snack for some sort of hamster with iron jaws. As I hinted before, I'm an optimist - and a bit impatient. Truly, I just wanted to get up and running, and that tab would probably be hidden behind my gfx card. So I examined the board a little more for damage.

I didn't have to look far. Take another look at the board next to the tab. There's a gash cut into the circuitry. "Somebody got a graphics card stuck in this thing and tried to pry it out with a fucking crowbar," I said out loud to nobody in particular. My curiosity piqued as to exactly HOW fucked up this board could be, and how it could've been shipped to me like this - so I ventured to examine the board in even greater detail.

Have cultural, religious, and/or family lenses affected how you and/or your partner view yourselves?

Has porn affected how you view nudity? Or how your partner views it?

Looking at Yourself in the Mirror

I was listening to an episode of Foreplay Radio with guest Emily Nagoski (check it out, it’s worth a listen) and she reiterated looking at your genitals with kindness and compassion (for those who feel congruent with their genitals). Have the opposite of these feelings contributed to your DB?

What’s your opinion/experience on becoming acquainted/reacquainted with your body and genitalia?

Theon VI: Paying Respects

> These Quiet Nights

Was he biding his time? Draining it away? A haunting dirge hummed on the horizon, yet so far away he could not tell the urgency of that oncoming danger, or even if it came for him in the end.

Theon laid awake in his bed, with only the rats that scurried through the hollow walls as his company. He tossed, he turned, with the straw bedding crackling beneath him and prodding harshly at his back.

It was only so soon after he returned, but he was already craving Dornish amenities. Beds of swan down, sconces of perfume warming the air, and…

He rubbed his eyes and groaned with indignation.

Stupid, Theon, stupid.

He rose from his bed and collected his keys, stowing them in the folds of a thin sleeping robe before descending to the rookery in search of a quill. The time for delays was over.

In the dim light of the hour of the wolf, he penned a pair of letters that harbored no wax seal, only words scrawled in his methodical hand.

Go, Gaoler, to Summerhall...

> To the Princes and Princesses of Summerhall,

> You may not know me, but I know you. I know you from the deeds of your kin. I have prided myself on a comprehensive understanding of your house's histories, but they did not compare to the living memory of Prince Aenar.

> We may not have been the closest of friends. Our association was lax, but professional. He may have been the only man to sit upon the Small Council who valued the rule of law and seemed committed the safe-guarding of the land.

> Three moons is far too brief a career, and his years too short to be called a deserving life. When I record the events of Westeros in my later years, I will see that he is remembered and holds a respected place in the annals of history.

> Your kin have my earnest condolences.

> Theon, Grand Maester

Onwards, Thief, to Sunspear...

> To the Prince Alaric Martell and the Princess Aerea Targaryen of Summerhall,

> I must preface this letter with an apology for my expedited and sudden departure. Personal commitments demanded I return to King's Landing, and unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The acolyte Lucifer may make his own choice on what venture to pursue.

> I extend my condolences to Princess Aerea on behalf of her kinsman. The Hand's death comes as a great surprise to us all.

Thread of Helpful Tips/Positivity (feel free to add)

Hi all,

It's been a rough year and a rough semester and many have taken to this subreddit to voice their troubles. That has prompted me to create this post with some helpful tips and positivity that I hope you guys can get use out of (and feel free to add your own). I wanna preface this by saying I know that none of these things can ~cUre~ you or make the hard times we're in go away, I simply hope that this list might help to ease the burden that this year has created for many. This list is mostly things I have done myself or read on the thread from others.

 1. Look into Buying a Standing Desk

This has been one of the best investments I made for this semester, and it was echoed by others in this subreddit a couple of days ago. I have this one from IKEA which was relatively easy to build, but there are plenty of different standing desk set-ups you can try that might be more affordable.

 1. Go on a walk

Not only are they good for your health, they're quite relaxing. I love to watch the birds and the squirrels prancing around and just forget about everything else. It's the closest thing my anxious mind can get to meditating and I am trying to make a habit of doing this.

3. Journal/Embrace Creative Expression

I practice stream of consciousness journalling which is really helpful in thinking through my feelings, especially when I don't quite understand them myself. I sometimes use these journal entries to create stories or poetry, but the same could be done for music, drawings, and other creative ventures. I have also seen people write these thoughts onto paper and burn it or onto plates and then smash them (if you do this one, please pick up the trash). Any of these can provide a sense of closure.

4. To-Do List of 3 things a day

I realize this one might not be as simple for most people considering all of the homework professors are assigning and all of the extra things that people have had to take on with the pandemic, but if you can I definitely reccomend this one. Essentially you just put 3 things on your to-do list; they can be super small (get out of bed) or really big (finish 5-page paper), but I tend to try to balance them out. So if I have a really big thing on my to-do list, the other 2 will be super small so the day isn't too overwhelming.

**5.

The most truly bizarre paranormal experience I’ve ever had

A preface to my tale:

Over my 27 years on God’s green earth, I’ve experienced a handful of things that I would venture to say “leave some explanation to be desired.” Chief among these encounters is the one which occurred on New Year’s Eve 2014; I can say without a doubt that this is the event that firmly cemented my belief in the existence of the paranormal.

The area of the country in which I reside (rural South Carolina) is ripe with homes dating back to the late-19th century and it just so happens that my friend (whom I will refer to as “Jake”) lived in one of these homes. On NYE, my then-girlfriend and I, along with my buddy Kenny, drove out to Jake’s house to enjoy the festivities.

The way the house was built, the front door opened into the kitchen, which had an open floor plan that was shared with the formal dining room and the sitting room. To the left was a hallway that ran the entire length of the house (and at the end was Jake’s room) - this comes into play in this story later.

All-in-all, there were about ten people at the house this night, with everyone gathered in the sitting room. After a bit of small talk, I decided that it would be worth going to grab myself some of the liquor that Jake had in his room (located at the end of the aforementioned hallway). I excused myself and walked to his room to grab some libation note - at this point I was not inebriated in any way, shape, or form. This is where things got truly bizarre.

I got to the end of the hallway and opened the door to his room; what I saw when I did still gives me chills as I am typing this. When I opened the door, a tall black figure immediately darted to the left (towards the bathroom) and I heard a woman giggle quickly “hahahaha.” I slammed the door shut, thinking I had walked in on Jake’s fiancé changing or something, as I did not have any consideration of “paranormal activity” at this point.

I walked back down the hall and spoke to Jake, asking him “Who is in your room, dude?” to which he replied “No one.” I told him “the hell there isn’t” and had him walk back down to his room with me. Sure enough, when he opened the door, there was no one there. I also want to point out that in the room, there was no TV or radio on, no blinds or windows open, no fans on, and certainly no animals present.

He clearly saw the dumbfounded look on my face and said with most deadpan expression, “You saw it too, didn’t you?” My knees felt weak. He went on to say, “Yeah man, weird shit happ

Orange Chem, Legendary OG, and White CBG Beleafer Review

I tried out hemp flower recently and thought id share my findings for those interested in looking at any of these strains or beleafer.

To preface this, I have used thc for ~5 yrs and this is my first time venturing into hemp. Because of this, I won’t be providing X/5 style ratings as I don’t feel im well-versed enough in hemp to do so. Instead, I’ll be providing rankings out of what ive tried and descriptions.

I made two orders, first an oz of orange chem and a gram of legendary, and after trying legendary I wanted to get more. So the second order I got a zip of legendary and a zip of CBG.

PRICE:

The reason why I went with beleafer was the good reviews on here combined with the great prices. All three products were undoubtedly worth the price bc they’re dirt cheap compared with thc bud, I couldn’t imagine a better quality flower at the price (if it exists please lmk tho lol)

All of the flower was purchased at the following rates:

Orange chem/10% off first time code: $31.50/oz of smalls ($35 originally)

Legendary OG/10% off first time code: $7.20/g ($8 originally)

Legendary OG/30% off Labor Day sale: $28/oz of smalls ($40 originally)

White CBG/30% off Labor Day sale: $42/oz of smalls ($60 originally)

PACKAGING:

The packaging was great, discreet with a return label of Beleafer LLC, no issues getting it from my apartment office, no smell until the bags were opened, bags were black to block out sunlight, contained a note for law enforcement. Also was ready to be shipped the first business day after ordering.

WEIGHTS/LOOKS: *I intentionally didn’t try to pick the prettiest buds for the pictures, I tried to pick ones that looked representative. There are some that look better, there are some that look worse, but most of them look pretty similar to these.

Orange Chem: weighed in at 33 g, so 5 g over. There is some trim, but its all good tho, there wasn’t a bunch. Definitely some seeds in there too but again I don’t really care that much, it wasn’t like more seeds than flower or anything like that, just much, much more than thc flower (I almost never get any).

Legendary OG g: I bought a gram of legendary to sample with the orange chem, and received a pretty large nug weighing over 3 grams. One or two seeds, but with 3x the amount of flower I paid for I definitely don’t mind. (It came larger than it was when I took the pic, I had already started working on it)

Legendary OG OZ: 29 g. Most well trimmed and prettiest looking flower out of the 3 o

New owner wants us to carry garbage bags through a crowded restaurant...okay, you're the boss

This is another story about my bartending days, and I'll preface by saying, even though it got my point across, not then, nor do I now feel good about what happened here.

So slight backstory, I was working as a bar manager in a student pub. The new owner and I haaaated each other, it was actually scary just how deep that hatred ran. However, I was his fastest bartender and simply too popular amongst the other employees to just fire, so instead, he would always belittle me in front of clients or other staff members and find ways to make my job more insufferable; I'm guessing, in hopes that I would simply quit.

So the bar was at the front of the store, the exit was right by the front entrance, which lead through a caged off alley, which lead to the alley where we dumped all the garbage from the bar and restaurant. We had always carried the refuge out that way, it was easy, effective and we didn't have to walk through the restaurant carrying garbage bags. So, obviously, the new owner made the rational decision to start locking that way off and forbidding us from using it. This meant we now had to walk through the restaurant, where people were eating, up a mini stairwell and through the kitchen.

I don't even know how many health and safety regulations this was violating.

I had protested this at several staff meetings, explaining to him that us not being allowed to go that way doubled the trip, which left the bar a man short for double the time, it was also double the time for the bags to tear, considering they were usually filled with heavy and sometimes broken bottles and mostly, it was just unsanitary walking through the restaurant and kitchen with bags that were usually dripping fluids...so, obviously, he refused and said we will continue doing it his way.

Cut forward a few nights later and the place was packed, likely to overcapacity, but for in case it wasn't clear...safety concerns weren't much of a priority for this twat.

I should also point out that the bar only had one garbage bin, which had filled up several beer bottles ago. The other bartenders had been ignoring it because if you're carrying out garbage bags, then you're not serving customers and if you're not serving customers, you're not making tips.

So, I decided to take this task upon myself and to venture out of the bar...I felt like Frodo carrying the ring to Mordor.

As I mentioned, the bag was already over it's recommended weight capacity, so I had to get through this crowd fast, bec

Part 2: The case for #FlattentheCurve – the significant costs and benefits of elimination and lockdown, including perspective on ‘long-term effects’ alarmism

Preface

In the first post of 'The case for #FlattentheCurve' I dedicated some time to the question of:

>“Are we being successful; by what standard?”

This question is a much better question than making arguments from a position of “who’s right and wrong?” (i.e. generally how the Sweden debate is framed). We should be looking to optimise our strategy and using this frame we could still improve our approaches even if we were to believe we are the best in the world.

I also pointed out that we should bring some perspective to the issue of COVID-19 mortality as compared to background mortality. We should recognise that there is an inherent need for public policy to weigh up the “value of a life” and the “quality of life” alongside many other measures of public good – personal freedoms, economic outcomes, education, social cohesion, etc.

Put plainly, a human life cannot be “priceless” otherwise we would attempt to take no risks and counter-productively shorten our own lives (and certainly destroy our happiness and prosperity). If we were to pretend that human lives are priceless and seek to protect them “at all costs” then we would degrade our ability sustain overall public health and good (given limited resources). For example:

>The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee rejects 69 per cent of anti-cancer drugs because they are not cost-effective.
>
>https://www.afr.com/policy/health-and-education/we-could-be-saving-lives-for-less-than-6m-each-20200406-p54hie

So, there is obviously a need to consider whether the Australia’s strategy for COVID-19 is balanced. I think everyone will understand this is worthwhile thing to assess. Unfortunately, it is largely ignored in the daily cycle of cases and deaths. Even

Men I deeply care about are unable to respect that I don’t want to have sex sometimes

Disclaimer: I just made this account so I can rant about this. Some people irl know my main account and I don’t want them to see this.

Let me preface this by saying that I feel like I’m going to type this out and sound like a fool. But this is my experience as a woman and it’s a dilemma that has happened to me in three separate relationships in which I have developed deep connections to a man. It has upset me terribly. These events have happened to me from when I was about 18 to 27 years old with men around the same age that i was at these times, if that matters.

I’ll start by listing the situations I guess.

First guy: We were bf and gf for several months before we took each other’s virginity. All was well for a while, but about 1-3 years in there were multiple times where I was heavily pressured into sexual acts that i didn’t wanna do. For a while I did them because I wanted to venture out (sexually), and let me tell you, I really did. At times I enjoyed the new experiences but I was also extremely stressed out at the time and would lose my sex drive often. I would tell my bf I wasn’t in the mood but then I would be told things like, “are you not attracted to me?” “Cmonnnn” “what if I try to turn you on?” etc etc. It got to the point where I would just give in bc it was faster than trying to convince him that I didn’t want to. I loved him so much, he did a lot for me. It was as if he turned into Mr Hyde when he was horny though. He just would lose control of his urges. A lot of mental damage was covertly done to me due to these sexual harassments. We ended up breaking up, but man did I care for him.

Second guy: Probably the guy I had the closest connection to. We dated for about 2 years almost. Relationship started off quite sexual but simultaneously romantic. We fell very deeply for each other. It was unlike anything I ever felt. I was so happy. Deep conversation, deep understanding of each other, and extreme compatibility sexually. But about 6 months in, he had sex with me after I said a hard no. It was one of those things where it was just a dirty quickie that I let happen because he wouldn’t listen to me. I felt horrible afterward. Felt weak cause I let it happen again to me bc it felt easier to just let it happen. I ended up confronting him about it later on. And he apologized profusely. But there were times where, again, it just seemed like he couldn’t control himself when he would get horny. Which was often. It’s not like we weren’t having

A confession of a time where I pretended to work somewhere....but didn’t work there.

I have a confession of something that’s happened about a year ago now. A story that’s been told to raised eyebrows and looks of astonishment.

Preface: I have to admit I didn’t plan for me to do what I did, it was one of those moments in life that make you act quickly, now or never.

It was a Saturday morning at a widely known department store. They had a sale on their professional clothes as a promo for college students (me).

I love clothes, and looking classy, so I checked it out.

Now before I continue I’ll say that this store has been around a bit and definitely needed updates. It was stuck a little in the past, you feel me?

I collected some blouses and proceeded to the shoes department to see if they had any heels I’d fancy. This was where I f’d up.

I browsed the isles and realized I was the only individual in the section. I peered around and also noticed there were zero people around at all. No one as far as the eye could see. Now at this point I also noticed the lights were just a hair too dim. Like I said it needed upgrades from being stuck in the past a little, so picture the occasional flickering light around also.

No people. Kind-of dim lights. A little flickering in the distance. Heck, even the cash register in that section was blocked, this was a section not even ventured into by employees. Think twilight zone.

I waked by the end of an isle by the forgotten cash register when.....it happened.

The phone rang.

What was I to do? I’d picked up phones when I worked in restaurants before, was it my ingrained customer service that buzzed inside of me?

I reached behind the ‘register closed’ sign, and answered the phone for reasons God himself might not even know.

Me: “..Hello”

Customer: “Hi I’d like to ask about a specific shoe in stock”

Me, having only worked in restaurants and never in retail before: “what shoe in particular..?”

I was getting nervous. The boost of adrenaline that possessed me to answer the phone was wearing off. What was I doing??

Customer: starts rattling off size and color and numbers

It became too much. What on Gods green Earth was I DOING?!

.....I hung up the phone. Abruptly. Without warning. A little part of me I think was hoping that she would blame the hang up on phone connection, I’m not sure.

The moment of realization (and shock?) stayed with me as I held my clothes in one hand and stared at the hung up phone on the counter.

It rang again.

Of course it rang again. Heck, I’d call back too.

thoughts on bighit going public

to preface: i am by no means a financial expert, investor, business person, etc. i am literally a high schooler who has an interest in the stock market lmao. so take all of this with a lot of grains of salt. and please correct me if im incorrect.

today it was reported that bighit is on their way to going public on the korean stock market. a few months ago, they applied for the first stages of going public and it recently got approved. i am very excited for them because the IPO and market cap are significant values, and it is a great business venture overall. bts also were given shares which is a good idea because they will get a good amount of money right off the bat.

however, i hope that fans who are not experienced won't start buying stocks just because of bts. its a terrible idea if you don't know what you're doing because most likely you are going to lose a lot of money right off the bat. buying a few shares (each one being about 113$) is not really going to give you many benefits, and the return (if any) is not gonna be worth it.

Why You're Frustrated with LLPSI (And How to Use It Better)

A complaint I've heard about LLPSI, especially from people using it on their own, is that the method seems to work great, almost effortlessly, right up until a certain point. And then it's like hitting a brick wall. The meanings no longer just click. Linear comprehension breaks down, encouraging you to hunt around the page or in the sentence for help. And because you've been so successful at comprehending up to this point, you have no idea what to do when comprehension fails. You're left frustrated with no clear plan for how to proceed. I want to explain why this happens and how you can prevent it from happening.

Very quick summary: When using an inductive curriculum like LLPSI, the premise is that repeated superficial comprehension of individual sentences will lead to deeper, implicit, generalizable knowledge of the language's underlying system. However, for various reasons, sometimes superficial knowledge doesn't transfer into deep knowledge. I look at a few reasons for that and propose a secondary reading strategy (observe - hypothesize - experiment) as a comprehension diagnostic and fallback method.

TWO KINDS OF COMPREHENSION

Language instruction aims at instilling comprehension. But there is more than one level of comprehension. Superficial comprehension is understanding what is meant by a particular communicative act in a particular context. Deep comprehension, by contrast, is understanding how the linguistic elements of that communicative act work together to achieve that meaning. Another way of defining deep comprehension is understanding why particular linguistic resources (vocabulary, grammatical forms, syntactic structures, word order, etc.), in contrast to other ones, were chosen to communicate that meaning.

Let's have an example. When young Kingshorsey entered middle school, he walked into his first French class. Within minutes, he learned how to present his name to another person: Je m'appelle Kingshorsey, he proudly proclaimed in his best imitation of Lumière, the candlestick from Beauty and the Beast, his only reference point for French.

At this point, you could say I had a superficial comprehension of the phrase Je m'appelle. I understood that a person used it to state their name. I could use it actively, as when I turned to the boy next to me and said, Je m'appelle Kingshorsey. And I understood it passively when the boy nodded, politely disregarded my strange name, and said, Je m'appelle Tim.

Now, let's think abo

Something strange is in the woods behind my house

I will preface this by stating that the information I’m about to share with you is not a creepypasta or any other form of fiction. It is in fact, my complete and honest recollection of the unexplained experiences I observed in and around the wooded area behind my childhood home. Other people in my family noted much of the same while growing up there, and our stories match now that we are all decades older. I’m not saying I believe in skinwalkers, sasquatches, or any other cryptids - as I am a man of science, I cannot ignore the lack of reliable and testable evidence in regards to such creatures actually existing. That being said...something very terrifying and unexplained lived/lives in the woods behind that house.

Occurrence #1: my sister and I had just received a tent as a gift from our grandfather. He had smoked enough Marlboro cigarettes and sent in the UPCs to get us a massive Marlboro tent. My mom hated it. We however, loved it and immediately set it up on the property line behind house. We intended on spending the night out there, but after about an hour or so, we experienced something neither of us can explain to this day. We saw an indention drag itself across the tent, and heard it dragging as it went. It was like a giant finger, or maybe a log - something of that size. My sister cried out, and I immediately bolted outside, as I was convinced it was our father playing a prank on us. Upon exiting the tent, I was greeted by...nothing. There was nothing there. I searched the area briefly, before grabbing my sister and going inside for the evening.

About a week later, I ventured out to the tent again, only to realize it was gone. I ran inside and asked my mother where the tent was, and she replied that she had thrown it away because it had tears in it. Confused, I tried to convince myself she was lying and had just tossed it out because she was anti-smoking and thought the tent looked trashy...but I fear she was telling the truth.

Occurrence #2: one fall morning, about an hour before my alarm for school went off, I was jolted out of bed by what I can only describe as an otherworldly shriek. It came from the woods. It didn’t sound human, but it didn’t sound animal either. Foxes and coyotes live in those woods, but they don’t make those kinds of sounds. It was insanely loud.

Occurrence #3: one evening my father and I were up late having one of our classic all night arguments. As we finally wrapped up our fight, around 3AM, my father said he wa

I need to vent on Bloostained Ritual of the Night

I need to vent on Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.

Preface:

I have the Switch version. I knew about the issues this version suffered and still chose to buy this one since I value portability. I don’t know how well the other versions remedy the issues I have with the game.

It is important to know where the reviewer is coming from, in order to formulate an indication if the ideas/critique presented by the reviewer resonates with the reader, and as such, could be labelled as “valid”. I am a huge metroidvania fan. It is one of my favourite genres in gaming. I’ve played all the classics and to this day, I have so much appreciation for the effort and passion the developers put in those games. Before I talk about Bloodstained, to give you an idea what my taste in these games is like, I will list the metroidvanias I’ve played and a short description of what worked for me in them.

Skip to the bolded Bloodstained part if you’re not interested.

The golden trinity of metroidvanias:

Castlevania SOTN: The environments, music, the slow ascent to the top of the castle’s tower, only for the “rug-pull” moment to happen. The sense of astonishing amazement this game has pulled off with its design is to this day unmatched.

Super Metroid: The classic. Super Metroid surprisingly withstood the test of time. The haunted atmosphere, feeling of isolation and dread are all still palpable and help define why the exploration in this game is such a joy.

Hollow Knight: the new king of metroidvanias. Hollow Knight manages to take what SOTN and Super Metroid so masterfully crafted, and weave it into its own identity. Whereas SOTN felt like you’re ascending to the top part of the map, in HK the goal is to descent to the lowest part of the map, which is adequately explained by the lore and plot. I can write an essay why HK is a monumental entry in the metroidvania genre and gaming as a whole, but that’s for another time.

Other metroidvanias

Metroid Fusion

The good: handheld Super Metroid. Everything Super Metroid did well was expanded and built upon.

Axiom Verge

The good: Super Metroid clone. Awesome music and atmosphere with an interesting story. Great variety with weapons and abilities.

The bad: This game suffers from some fundamental issues such as the graphics being murky and environments blending into enemies and obstacles. No warp-points in the map make traversing the world cumbersome. Boss design is a jo

If all of Google's Chat services could pull data from each other, could there be a unified Android app for all messages?

As it stands, any two Android users have many methods of conveniently and easily sending each other an instant message (or.. DM) using Google services.

In just a few taps or less Android users can send texts, often with with enriched features, using Google developed apps including:

Hangouts: two Google accounts can carry and ongoing conversation with photos, videos, gifs, and typing indicator / read receipt. [G accounts]

Photos app: Under the Sharing tab, the "Say something" feature allows for a continuous thread of conversation also with photo and video sharing. Users can also send a quick Heart emoji in a single tap, similar to a "Like" gesture. [G accounts]

Gmail app: Currently, only Gsuite users have access to the Chat feature, however, recent APK insights (cred: 9to5google) have indicated that this could be a feature of the free Gmail for Android app in a coming release. If true, this would add another thread of conversation between two Google accounts. [G accounts]

Messages app: RCS - a thread of enriched conversation including Google Assistant integration, suggested replies, location sharing, typing indicator, full quality photo sharing etc.. (*Tip: with beta version you can now react to messages) [phone numbers]

Duo app: Simple text messages can be sent in the form of "Notes," which show up in horizontally scrolling tiles interwoven chronologically alongside Duo calls and "Hearts" which can be sent in one tap. [both G accounts and phone numbers]

I'd like to preface this discussion by saying I am not necessarily in favor of removing or replacing any of these apps.

I think these are all well placed areas to implement a Direct Message feature.

But my question for you all, is how can these conversations be continuous all throughout?

Would it be far too complicated be in one of these several apps and upon tapping the "Chat" button (or "Note" or "Say something" etc), what you see in turn is the full thread including all the other messages from all of those other respective conversations?

Because it seems like for example, if I have a G account, and my wife has a G account, then we should be able to continue a conversation from Duo, to Hangouts, to RCS, to Photos app, and so on.

This raises the other question of how to logistically achieve this?

Does the tap of the Message button automatically launch a single, standalone, universal messaging app?

Or

Do all of these instant messaging avenues stay separate, but the conversations from ever

Light, Traveler, Dark, Pyramid, champions of either, both, or neither, a theory.

#Preface

The Light and the Traveler have a dubious sense of seperation. But through the Pyramids and Darkness, we can infer Light speaks through a Traveler, just as Dark speaks through a Pyramid. This is a big theory which will encompass a few key ideas and things of note. The nature of Light and Dark in this battle, the Traveler's silence, the Dark's champions, the fine line between them, and how their ideologies affect their interactions.

Tl;Dr at the bottom

##Light and Dark, Warring Ideologies.

The ideologies of Light and Dark are simple enough to understand. The Light seeks to give to life, and allow it all to flourish, while the Dark seeks for life to prove itself worthy of living. It is these ideologies which fundamentally form the basis for all that we experience. Both seek to prove themselves correct in this game they play, symoblized through the Unveiling lore and the Garden game. This is a simplification, but a necessary one to really delve into everything.

##What is the Traveler?

At the moment, and since initial release, we don't exactly know what the or a Traveler is. Is it a being on it's own? Is it an avatar for the Light, a sort of conduit, or is it something else entirely? Well, I think it's moreso a conduit than anything. We don't need the Traveler to receive visions. We need Light for that. Wherever Light resides, it can speak to us. Whether it be the sight of a Traveler shard, or the grounds of Io, the last thing it touched, it can speak anywhere. I think the Traveler, like the Pyramids simply is a vesel through which Light speaks. The Traveler doesn't speak to us, the Light speaks through it to us. I compare it to a human. Our brains speak through our mouths, but it is not our mouths which create the speech, but simply convey it.

##The Light's Silence.

The Light has not spoken to very many. It last spoke to us in Forsaken, and has not spoken to many people overall, most notably Speakers, Ikora Rey, and the Guardian, the Young Wolf. Zavala has wavering faith in the Traveler, and thus the Light, because it has done nothing to help us. It did nothing when Ghaul attacked. It did nothing when the Pyramids arrived. It only attacked when Ghaul dared use it's power. When someone it felt unworthy decided to take. Now, here is the most crazy part of this: this is all a Bible metaphor, or rather, a religion metaphor, but the Abrahamic God is most fitting. After I discus this, I will consider in universe reasons.

Jesuit trained Malcolm Wilson was Nelson Rockefeller's political Kingmaker

" Proud of his Fordham ties and degrees, Mr. Wilson has served the University as one of the first 15-non-Jesuits to be elected to the Board of Trustees in 1969 as well as supporting alumni fund efforts for the school. At Fordham Prep, he is known as the man who took on the chairmanship of the school's building fund campaign that enabled them to move from a century-old building to a modern complex on the Bronx campus. " https://www.fordhamprep.org/page.cfm?p=4868

An occulted fact is that Malcolm Wilson, who was essentially a lay Jesuit (trained by Jesuits for over 15 years at Fordham prep and Fordham university)--was the political kingmaker of Nelson Rockefeller. This is admitted however by none other than the New York Times. Wilson, the papal crusader would serve as the lieutenant governor of New York while Nelson Rockefeller was governor, later becoming governor of New York himself. This Jesuit tag-team was honored by the Roman Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Francis Spellman at Jesuit Fordham university for crusading to get state tax-payer funds to finance the Roman Catholic schools! Quoting from the Pittsburgh Catholic, February 9th 1961, we read : https://thecatholicnewsarchive.org/?a=d&d=TPC19610209-01.1.1&srpos=10&e=-------en-20--1--txt-txIN-Malcolm+wilson+nelson------ "Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York, has hailed Gov. Nelson Rockefeller's proposal to the state legislature to provide aid to all students attending church-related and other private colleges and universities in the state. The cardinal lauded the controversial plan before 1,100 persons gathered here for an alumni dinner marking the golden anniversary of his graduation from Fordham University(Jesuit) . Introduced to the group by New York Lieutenant Gov. Malcolm Wilson, also a Fordham alumnus, he prefaced his prepared speech by saying, " I also thank Lieutenant Governor Wilson for siding with Governor Rockefeller to have justice for every college in the State of New York.""

This close relationship between Jesuit trained Malcom Wilson and Nelson Rockefeller is surely why a Roman Catholic priest, Teddy "Father SR-71" Hesburgh became the chairman of the Rockefeller foundation in 1977!

T-Mobile silently blocking outbound SMS messages containing the phrase "verification code"

Preface EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has performed additional testing and contributed data. Based on the new records that have been provided, particularly those from from u/Whiplash104 with multiple samples of failure from other carriers to Verizon and from u/DJB719 and others with a clear samples of T-Mobile iPhone to T-Mobile Android success, I think it's now reasonable to assume that the issue is at least primarily (if not solely) arising on Verizon's end of the communication chain. I have consolidated the results table to include carrier pairings only, excluding the device platform from the equation, as it does not appear to be a meaningful factor in transmission outside of a single outlier case.

Since this is the T-Mobile subreddit, I know that most users will, like myself, only have devices running on T-Mobile, but if anyone can perform additional testing between any non-T-Mobile networks and Verizon to confirm u/Whiplash104's findings, I'll update the data here before we hand the issue off to the Verizon community to take up with their carrier for final resolution.

Original Message Follows:

I've stumbled upon a unique bug (or perhaps feature, from the carriers' perspective) relating to what appears to be keyword blacklisting in SMS messages: From what I can tell in my limited testing, outbound text messages from some devices on the T-Mobile network are being silently blocked if they contain the phrase "verification code" anywhere in their content, but only when they are sent to certain combinations of carriers and devices. I'm posting here to see if users with more knowledge surrounding mobile networks and platforms can provide any insight, or chime in to say if this is known/expected behavior. I apologize for the wall of text that follows (you can just look at the tables and tl;dr for the gist of the matter), but I'm aiming to be as descriptive as possible to help others reproduce the issue.

Brief background: I'm the resident techie for friends and family, and I frequently help troubleshoot issues with various online services. When doing so, I'll occasionally need to log into their accounts directly from my computer, and for the accounts that have an OTP-based 2FA that's sent out via SMS, I just ask them to forward the text message they receive containing the verification code to my phone so I can complete the authentication process. The Fallen Knight - "The Ends Justifies the Means" (WIP Lexy LOTD completionist Build)

Preface:

This is my first attempt at a proper RP build. Like most Skyrim players I suffer from a severe case of Restartits. My last character was a fun, super fast, rogue that ended up becoming a mindless murder-hobo. I realised the best way to stick with a character would be to slow down and try and immerse myself.

Origin/Character Motivation:

The Fallen Knight (TFK) begins his journey as a young naive Breton knight spurred to adventure by the prospect of finding the Grail of Betony. Having heard of the request for treasure hunters from the Museum of the Dragonborn, TFK journeys to Solitude. The Museum would serve as the perfect place/organisation (Explorers guild) to help locate the Grail.

It isn't long before the inexperienced knight is witness to the awesome might of Alduin at Helgen. The utter destruction wrought on the town shakes TFK to the core. The once lofty goal of obtaining the Grail now seems hollow and vapid in comparison to the threat of the great World-Eater.

TFK is now resolute on saving all of Tamriel, but the events witnessed in Helgen has planted the gnawing seed of doubt. Having felt completly helpless, TFK ventures onwards to seek the power and skill to face Alduin.

TFK continues to uphold the knightly virtues he was raised with while adventuring. However, the lingering doubt felt starts to influence TFK. The horrors of Helgen constantly playing on his mind.

When presented with the opportunity of power at the expense of someone else, TFK is swayed to break his code. After all, if Alduin isn't stopped then many more lives will be lost. These decisions weigh heavily on TFK, he vows that anyone sacrificed in the name of power will be avenged, when he inevitably faces of with Alduin.

As time goes on, TFK begins to struggle to keep the goal of amassing power, for the sole purpose of defeating Alduin, seperate from the growing ego that comes from attaining power. TFK's weakening resolve opens him up to darker and darker temptations.

Before long TFK realises he has damned himself spiritually, morally, and literally (bargaining with various Daedra). Accepting his fate, TFK moves to set himself back onto the righteous path, using the ill-gotten power to better life for all in Tamriel.

Once peace has been restored to Skyrim (and I've filled up the Mueseum) I plan to have TFK atone for his misguided deeds by secluding himself with the graybeards, waiting for the day that he must face his mistakes (aka bargaining with da

First Timer Looking for Advice: Session #0

The obvious preface to this is that I hope my eventual players don’t poke around here. I know they’re eager.

I’ve been looking at Rime of the Frostmaiden being my first foray into DMing. The survival horror aspect being a good one to play up as October (and the subsequent winter) is coming up.

Now right off the bat I was thinking of doing things a tad differently in the beginning and thought I’d run the idea by you all to see if it sounds valid.

The party will start off as the members of a caravan of supplies headed for Icewind Dale. The brother or sister of someone in Bryn Shander has felt very distressed not hearing from them in over two years and so offered a large sum of gold to a local group to bring the supplies up to his/her store. Details to be worked out.

So the party was formed in Neverwinter and headed north. They’re accompanied by a few NPCs I might have appear now and then as sidekick stat blocks (who may or may not utilize some of the secrets if the party doesn’t) and when we catch up with the party they’re days, if not weeks, into the venture.

Suffice to say everything has gone wrong. They’re days late, food is running perilously low, the horses succumbed to the cold one by one, the carts keep getting stuck in the snowbanks, and then not long after everything’s outlined we start at a frozen hill. The road disappeared under the snow days ago and the party have been essentially relying on their navigator.

With heavy snowfall cutting off their visibility they decide to circle eastward in hopes of getting around the hill (but veer off a little too far in and start towards Dougan’s Hole). This is where the party have a chance to do their introductions along the road.

After a few minutes of introductions I’ll have a few perception checks done. If they succeed the party become aware they’re being stalked through the snowfall by a party of goblins. Naturally, the goblins attack and will ambush the party if perception rolls are poor. They ride in on wolves and attack. They’re going to be a tad more numerous than they otherwise would be because of the present NPCs but will retreat if they start losing the battle.

This will leave the party weary, some NPCs will be wounded, etc. If they stay put the goblins might come back with greater numbers… so they’ll really have no other option they have to continue through the dunes.

Depending on how things go from here there’s a chance the party will either continue towards Dougan’s H

Matched on Tinder, flew to Vegas to meet for our first date

Just like the title says, the craziest but also most exciting first date either of us have ever had in our lives. A little preface before we get juicy to set the stage. Apologies if I get a little wordy, this is my first time ever writing something like this!

I travel a lot for my business and so conventional dating has always been really difficult. Most women I've met can't handle having a relationship that has significant scheduling challenges and potential for last minute change of plans. I started a Tinder account to see if I could meet people in places I travel to frequently, thinking maybe that would be easier. That's how this story begins.

I matched with "Tara" from Tinder while on one of my trips, we hit it off almost immediately. She was my type all the way, brown hair, big beautiful smile, fits just under my chin when we hug (I'm 6ft) We spent the next week texting each other a variety of topics and questions, what started out as "20 questions" ended up being 88 questions! Along the way we ventured into past relationships and things they did to us that were upsetting, to change the topic back to a lighter place Tara joked "you know what would be crazy, let's go to Vegas for our first date! Our exes would lose their mind when they find out!" Well, it took on a life of it's own and within 48 hours of that conversation we had both booked flights to Vegas for the following week.

We hadn't met in person while I was in her town because I had to fly out to another city and wouldn't be back for a few weeks and we didn't want to wait. So our very first meeting was by the baggage claim at the airport in Las Vegas. When she came down the escalator into the baggage claim I knew from our first hug that it was gonna be a special few days in Vegas.

We spent the whole first day there just walking through the hotels and having drinks and enjoying each other's company, she's a big sports fan and her team was playing that afternoon so we went to change and she came back dressed in a jersey that hugged all of her curves just 110% right! I couldn't keep my hands to myself and so we had our first really deep and passionate kiss. After the game we had booked dinner reservations at a really romantic steakhouse in downtown Las Vegas, dinner was amazing, the wine was outstanding, our hands roaming and the looks flirting back and forth. I couldn't handle it, she could've told me to fuck her right there on the table and I would've considered it. lol.

After our evening

Covid feels like a personal attack

Preface: Obviously I know it isn't. I know people out there have it way worse than I do, but this has been eating at me for months I'm tired of just sucking it up because we're all in the same boat. The reality is we're not all in the same boat. Some people are way more equipped to handle this than others.

Background: In school I was very smart, too smart for my own good. That may sound like a brag, but on national tests I scored in the top percentile, and while that sounds awesome, it ended up back firing on me. See I was good at numbers and formulas. So any class that relied on that, Math, physics, calculus, chemistry, computers, etc was a cake walk.

In 12 years I never had to crack a book for a subject like that. Other subjects like English, social studies, those kinds of things were a little more challenging, but without studying I could still pull a 70-85, with my numbers classes averaging 90-95+ they kind of carried things on my overall average so I never really had to worry about applying myself there.

This created two issues. Firstly, I never really learned to apply myself. Why bother right? This stuff came so easy. Math, chemistry, etc I hear it once in class, and I knew it. It bothered me that non-numbers classes didn't work the same, but I got through.

Secondly, it created quite a divide between my classmates and me. I never really bragged about it, or tried to show off (the teachers though), but by the time elmentary school was done, everyone knew I was going to get the best score on the tests and I became a target.

What does all this have to do with covid? it's background for where I'm at now. After I graduated high school, adult life hit me like a brick wall. University was actually hard, and I didn't know what to do with myself. Crashed and burned, was suicidal for a bit, and after a few years managed to get back on my feet, as it was. But that whole period left permanent scars and issues that I still struggled with.

I went back to college and got a diploma. Seems great, but everytime something good would happen, something would set me back. I could never really get ahead. In my late 20s I managed to save up a little bit of money and moved to the other side of the world. Been here over a decade now. Overall, I'm happier here than i was there, but it's continued to be the same thing. Every sniff of success is followed up by defeat. I've tried various business ventures/jobs (actual business stuff, not like mlm stuff or anything like

My VB eulogy

After 48ish hours of wild speculation, the sad rumor that The Venture Brothers has been canceled has been confirmed to be true.

The first season of the show premiered in the summer of 2004, I was fresh out of high school. I remember discussing the show online and with friends. Over and over again, the show was likened to crack. It was an extraordinarily bingeable show in a time before bingeing. Each episode was so good and so unique and so funny and so packed with cool ideas that it was almost impossible to pick just one episode to watch rather than just hitting “Play all” on your inevitable copy of the DVD.

Season 2 was a continuation and improvement of everything that had come before. Season 2 was also the first time we discovered just how epically cool a Venture Brothers finale could be. Showdown at Cremation Creek was a revelation.

On a personal note, I had a bit of an identity crisis between seasons 2 and 3, a bad breakup left me questioning who I was and thinking that I was a terrible person for a couple years. Enter season 3’s The Doctor is Sin. Dr. Venture questioning his own identity at the end of that episode meant so much to me. This was the moment that I went from really, really liking The Venture Bros to ABSOLUTE CRAZY LOVING The Venture Bros. Season 3 is and probably always will be my favorite season. Soon after the season concluded, I brought a picture of Dr. Killinger’s constellation thing to a tattoo artist.

In season 4’s Everybody Comes to Hank’s, little Hank Venture lost his virginity. Regardless of the fucked up circumstances, at that moment I was GENUINELY proud of our little guy for achieving this personal milestone. If I were talking to anyone else outside of this fan community, I’d have to preface that statement by saying something like, “I know this is crazy, but…” But because I’m talking to other Venture Bros fans, I know that you know that these aren’t characters in a goofy cartoon, these are our friends, these are real people.

Okay, I know they’re actually cartoon characters, my point is that what made this show feel so special was that the characters felt so real. I’m not going to talk about every single season, but I am going to mention that this show uprooted and moved to NYC for the past two seasons and it didn’t miss a step! Has any other show been able to radically change its formula like that and still maintain its quality? I really don’t think so.

Through the years I’ve introduced the show to countless frie

A Tale Of Stupid Audacity In The Sea Of Cheese That Turned Into A Grand Alliance

This recounting will be just a wee bit long and therefore will be far too complex to host a TLDR, but I will still do my best with one at the bottom. But for those that wish to read, this shall be a multiple chapter story of our grand adventure.

As a prologue to this story, I must preface that for the first six hours of the day I had been solo sailing doing vaults with a gold hoarders emissary flag, of which I lost everything when my internet cut out, twice... So by the time of mid afternoon when I got a new goddamn modem, I was just a wee bit salty and non-caring.

Flying my flag, as I setoff from port, I realized that there was a tier 5 reaper sailing around in the direction of which I had to venture, but I did not care and charged forward regardless, doing two vaults. More than a few times they were just an island or two away from me, but did not harass me to kingdom come or even venture closer towards me.

The reason why I found out later. But as I neared the end of my third vault, my buddy hopped on with the information that a reaper was near and that I did not care whatsoever. We finished up our third vault and ventured out to start the fourth with a quest he had in his inventory. However, the closer we followed the compass the faster we realized that we were heading right towards the reapers.

Luckily though, they turned away and started sailing in a different direction... wrong. The sailed away long enough for us to stop worrying, before turning around and coming back at us. We noticed this predicament, but as I no longer cared about anything, we both sailed directly at them as they sailed directly at us. They on a galleon, us on a brig.

We quite literally combine sails we get so close to one another, but as I came to find out later, the single reason they did not fire upon us was because the angle was wrong and that they hard started to turn around. I, however, did not know this and was just like "Oh hey, they're cool, fire me over on a cannon so I can go say hi and see if they're nice"

The cannon bugged though as I was launched, so I only flew straight up. Watching as my friend sailed away and me being stuck in the perilous water and still morbidly curious, I pulled out the megaphone and began swimming towards them saying "Hello, we're cool, I just wanna swim over and see if you guys are cool as well. I promise I'm nice... Please slow down"

And to my surprise they had actually dropped anchor, allowing me to climb the ladder and board thei

To the first love of my life

Let me preface this by saying: this is not like the other letters on this subreddit that are vague or beautifully poetic and can be applicable to any strangers’ situation. It’s meant to be specifically for you, so there are nitty-gritty details only you would understand.

I feel kind of strange writing this at nearly 4AM. I rarely think about you anymore, and if I do, it’s in a very nonchalant way. Sometimes I forget you existed in my life. But then I remember during my psychosis last year that some part of my subconscious knew I could never erase the memory of you. Don’t be fooled by this letter: I could care less about reconciling with you or even being friends again, but that doesn’t mean my love for you as a person has died.

So why am I writing this? Why does this letter remain unsent?

To answer the latter, you made it very clear that you never wish to speak to or be involved with me ever again. And frankly, I was completely fine with that arrangement after four months of grieving. That was three years ago. I was even more fine with it when you shut me out for the last time last year. If you end up reading this somehow despite it being buried in the recesses of Reddit, know that my last attempt to contact you wouldn’t have been made consciously by my normal state of mind or better judgment. That was fueled by remnants of emotions felt during my psychosis. I wasn’t myself.

To answer the former, for the first time in a very long time, I reminisced about our time together with a softer heart and let myself be vulnerable and experience all those emotions all over again. I buried them deep when I got over you. I buried them deeper as time went on and you became more of a ghost of someone I used to know than an actual person.

This evening, I scrolled through all the pictures and videos I had saved on Google Photos under your section of “People & Pets.” Normally I would just quickly scan through it to look for a funny video of you that I’d reference to my family or friends and move on with life. Instead, I actually took a good look at each picture and video.

I didn’t realize how many emotions and memories I managed to suppress in the past two years. I’ve forgotten about so many things and I want to look back on it now and memorialize it in this letter you’ll never read, because frankly, I’m afraid I’ll forget about it all over again.

I forgot about how our Cold War (what we called that period of time between our blossoming, budding romance and

Correcting Inconsistency, Accelerating Progress — Help Needed

https://preview.redd.it/gtqphi6muto51.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc99a23c6643d1614691a654cd77b9cf293e2f81

I'll preface this by stating what I hope to achieve here: A regimented and proven way of correcting inconsistency and increasing the speed of improvement.

You'll see in the screenshot that my performance fluctuates wildly. I've logged numerous repetitions of this exercise ( which is underreported since it doesn't count my restarts ), with my best result being a TTK of 348 at the 80th %tile which had 82% accuracy. From this I can conclude that at peak performance my performance is strong, but highly inconsistent.

Now here's the unsolveable problem. It'd make sense to look for whatever factors for which I am performing off baseline. Easy in theory, impossible in practice. Aim is influenced by multiple factors, yet even if I knew all of them or even just the major ones, I don't have a means of measuring them, thus begging the question how would I know what is being performed incorrectly. Aside from good practices such as proper grip posture, strength, muscle relaxation, preventing fatigue, the possibility of progress seems to be an entirely random trial and error venture. It's giving me serious doubts as to the efficacy of continuing aim training without the knowledge of a set of correct actions I need repeat to ensure progress.

That's a legal battle tactic!!

So let me preface by saying this is my best friend's story, but since he is not on Reddit, it is up to me to convey this to you.

Anyway, my buddy was in charge of all the Pathfinder Society games in our area as the Venture Captain. So when a gaming convention was being held nearby, he volunteered to run a few tables of Pathfinder Society for them.

Now my buddy is really talented DM and wants everyone to have a good time at the table, so he can be pretty lenient about things if it is not totally ridiculous, especially for people new to his table. At these conventions, you always have people you have never played with before, and my buddy had a dude playing a barbarian for this Pathfinder Society game that he had brought with him. Now the thing to note about this Barbarian, is he dumped intelligence down to a 3 and had done what most Pathfinder Society players did....Min/Maxed to be able to one shot as much as possible. So this character would be about as sharp as a bowling ball, to quote Foghorn Leghorn.

So the game is rolling along and they run into an encounter with another party of adventurers and this is where the fun really begins. The guy playing this dumb as a stump Barbarian announces that he wants to attack the Wizard by sundering his spell component pouch. My friend tells him he can't do that because he doesn't have the intelligence to think of a tactic like that. Makes sense right? You dump your intelligence, you likely don't know how to not crap your pants, much less perform a sophisticated battle tactic.

However, this dude was not having it as he keeps telling my friend "This is a legal battle tactic! It's in the book! It's a legal battle tactic!!" My buddy, relents and tells him "Okay, roll to sunder the wizard's spell component pouch." Dude rolls and hits. My buddy proclaims "With that hit, the pouch with his lunch bursts open and is all over the ground." Dude is pissed. He keeps saying "this is bullshit. That is a legal battle tactic." My friend just answered him with "Yeah, it is legal, but you are too stupid to tell the difference between his spell component pouch and his lunch bag"

So dude packs up his gear and storms off. My friend said, " I don't like to reward bullshit meta-gaming that tries to bypass flaws in a character, and hell, he could have just one-shot this wizard, so there really was no need for this nonsense."

Edit: I told my buddy I posted his story here and he laughed, then he reminded me of a part of the story

[Online] [Other] Your very own Bizarre Adventure!

In the southern parts of Switzerland, a quaint resort known as “La Neige Finit” is nestled in between the great mountains and valleys of the Swiss Alps. You have ventured here, for one reason or another and are ready to take your well earned rest. That is before a strangely unannounced snowstorm hits the resort, leaving you cut off from the world and without the bare necessities. You might be able to weather this storm, that is if it even is a storm at all...

I would like to preface this post by saying that you do not have to have seen or read JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure to play in this game. And I also want to remind you all that although this is set in the universe of JJBA, it will be it’s own story which will most likely not involve any Joestars.

With that out of the way we can get to the meat of it. I would like to DM a game for the JJBA RPG, and I would like some of you beautiful people on this sub to go along with me on this grand (maybe even bizarre) adventure.

The game will be played using discord voice, but no Roll20 will be used. The abstract and fluid nature of the system means that it will be based in our combined imagination.

Speaking of imagination, I would like let all of you know that creativity will not be rewarded in this game, it will be required. Exaggerations aside it is important for you to be able to think on your feet and come up with clever solutions. Role play and combat will be entwined, meaning that simply hitting the enemy will in fact not work.

The tone and theme will be pretty similar to JJBA (with possibility for some slight adjustment), and the setting will be sometime during the 2000s.

If you’re interested, PM me here or on discord (Optimum#8139) and we can talk some more in the upcoming days.

I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I can’t wait to let you all into my world.

[Review] Sunglass Haul from Non-TS Markin

Sadly this seems to be a required preface now to reviews... I absolutely am getting nothing free or reduced in price for a review. I'm only reviewing to add to the knowledge base of RL.

##My Background My Venture to Markin

This is my first time ordering replica sunglasses. I’ve seen a bunch of posts on here about TaoBao, Aliexpress and other scary websites that I am too afraid to venture into. I'm a Yuppo girl, 100%.

Before this haul I owned only authentics. They scratch just as easy and feel the same as these reps. Never.again.

I tried our TS list first, but they either didn't use Yuppo or didn't have a large stock list, so I ventured to FashionReps/DesignerReps and found Markin.

Seller Information:

WeChat: markin520

WhatsApp: +8618823726241

Yuppo: https://den1218.x.yupoo.com/

Taobao: http://shop108237764.taobao.com

Price: 16 (total pairs) x $50/pair = $800

-I do NOT want boxes, paperwork, etc. so…

-$800 (sunglasses) + $40 (shipping DHL) = $840 total

Markin was more than happy to send boxes. He offered multiple times. I have collected so many sunglass cases over the years and even though designer cases are pretty, they're just not needed for me.

Shipping method: DHL

Payment Method: I prefer Transferwise, PayPal or Western Union. Western Union it was :) Fast and easy. In person payment was less than $10 fee.

Timeline breakdown:

6/5/2020 - Introduction

6/10 - Photo list of glasses sent

6/12 - Paid

6/18 - Shipped

6/22 - Received partial order

6/22 - I messaged Markin, bursting with excitement about how excited I was. I didn’t even count the glasses. He reminded me that there are still 5 glasses waiting to ship, they ran out of stock. I’ve been so excited to write a review that I haven’t even looked on his Yuppo to find new pairs. Girls, I’m too excited to shop… what has happened.

Seller Communication and Service 10/10 Markin is great. He’s responsive and quick to ship/send. I didn’t ask for psps or photos. I had asked a few sellers if there are tiers for sunglass quality and they have all said no. I think if I saw the alignment for the Fendi glasses I don’t know if I would have cared or caught it anyways.

##Reviews

QUALITY - None of these feel cheap. To save space, I’m going to review quality for all as a 10/10 unless otherwise noted. If there is a ding on quality value, I’ll state it. I started writing quality for each pair and realized it was a blanketed review

Food/Trash at West Mountain Shelter

I just want preface this post by stating that my gf and I have been hiking bear mountain for the better part of 6 years. We have done several over night hikes and explored virtually almost all of the trails in Harriman State Park as well. I understand that COVID has brought out a lot of people who do not normally hike, and I'm always more than welcome to share a trail if need be. However, I have always adopted a leave no trace mind state when out on the trails and actively pick up garbage I see when I can.

Anyway, during a 9 mile hike today we ventured down to the West Mountain Shelter and were shocked to see that someone had dumped hot dogs directly in front of the shelter. They had also left their camping gear unattended there as well with food unsealed and open. They had also dragged a giant branch into the fireplace and attempted to light it on fire. The embers were still going when we got there. There were Truly cans around the back of the Shelter area too. Needless to say we were pretty disgusted with the whole situation and not wanting to linger over someone's stuff unattended we left.

I understand bears are rarely seen at this shelter but being careless with food is probably one of the silliest things you can do. Be more aware of what you're bringing to the environment, this is not your area and you're a guest if anything.

EDIT: Didn't attach the pics I took when I was there.

My (24/m) family seems to be exhibiting strong bias and negligence towards my concerns

I am going to preface this as saying this is a complicated situation and the only reason I am writing this is because I genuinely need perspective. I will try to express the complexity of each family member’s personality traits and how there isn't really a “right” and “wrong” in this situation. But, that’s kind of impossible, so I will make edits if someone has further inquiries.

This is something that is causing me strife and my decisions will directly impact my future, thus please note that I am choosing to share these details as a last resort. I am having an incredibly tough time knowing where the problem is stemming from, and think writing this down will be conducive in helping me decipher the correct course of action. For the sake of privacy & brevity, I am going to obviously not share explicit details that could compromise our anonymity.

I STRONGLY suggest you read the preface, as it’s my attempt to give each of us some background.

Or, just skip to the part that says “MAIN TOPIC”.

PREFACE:

My age is 24, and have a bachelor’s degree in CompSci. , married to a 26 year old teacher with a master’s in her field. My sister (22) is a Business Major.

My parents were first generation immigrants and made sure to distill strong familial values to their kids. This is just me saying we’ve been a close-knit group, despite us probably seeming dysfunctional from time-to-time. I have seen my parents go from a very humble living to becoming relatively wealthy, to the point where they have a few friends/associates that you have likely seen on TV (some of whom who consistently appear on the Reddit front-page, which I always find amusing).

I will express my experience growing up, as I always considered it to be normal, but looking back… you can parse a lot of problems stemming from that time.

My parents have been genuinely caring and understanding, but there are frequent cases in which things have gotten extreme. I used to get my ass kicked pretty frequently by my parents, mostly because I used to smoke weed like most of the kids my age at the time.

This was never a massive issue, and though some of my friends would recommend I call child-services as they told their own parents to fuck-off from entering their rooms… I kind of jotted it down to cultural differences.

I bring this up because there have been notable instances that stand-out, and very much contrast with my sister’s upbringing.

I have been choked to the point I couldn’t breathe by my

Looking for advice from those who are business owners/entrepreneurs

Title has it all.. I’ve (27m) had the urge for quite awhile now to branch out and start my own business with one of the niches I have. I’m a bit sick of the corporate life and answering to “higher ups”, though I need the secured salary & health insurance.. I’m married without kids for further prefacing.

I just want to know more from those who have left your corporate/day job that was a secure, to venture off into entrepreneurship.

 1. What were you doing as your day job prior & what are you doing now?

 2. Mentally how do you feel now vs then (within the corporate/day job life)?

 3. Financially, was it worth the risk in the end?

Am I (20sF) overreacting in wanting to leave my partner (40sM) of 3 years for lying to me about where his parents live?

I need a random internet perspective on this please. It's a bit long but all this information I feel is relevant. TDLR at bottom.

I will preface this by saying my partner has always advised me that money does not bring you happiness and trust is the most important thing in a relationship. He divorced his ex-wife after less than a year because she lied to him about her financial situation, so he of all people should be painfully aware of the impact lies can have on a relationship.

This is my second relationship; during my nearly 10 year first relationship my ex-partner did not work and took advantage of me financially; I am still paying the price for this now but I'd like to think I've mostly learned my lesson.

My partner has a full time job but doesn't earn a great deal, and has child support to pay for a child he does not see. He is otherwise comfortable and we don't have expensive tastes.

I come from nothing and have no family and now earn above the national average for my age. I earn £10k more than my partner and work overtime each week. I am in a good professional job, have my own car, and am paying off my own debts. I live with my partner in a house he has a mortgage on solely in his name; I pay for most of the shopping, and pay him rent each month which covers his entire mortgage plus utilities. I feel as though I carry out the bulk of the chores including cooking and cleaning, but I brought cats with me so that may be fair. We each pay our half of council tax and the biannual water rates. I believe I am contrubuting a bit too much towards my rent and board but have been shot down by my partner when I've attempted to bring it up as he 'didn't want money to come between us'. I let it lie as I am still paying less than I would if I had my own place.

I didn't and still don't care how much my partner earns, whether he has a house, car, whatever. Due to my upbringing I know how important it is to pay your own way in life and would never take advantage of someone financially as I know how painful it can be for someone to be with you essentially for what you can give them. I still feel as though I overcompensate by working too many hours as it was the only worth I had in my previous relationship, for a very very long time, and the only thing that kept a roof over my head was my work ethic.

We have plans to purchase a house together; I have never felt as though his house was my home so have been working toward this. He has tried to make me feel as tho

[Spoilers C2E50] Animatic of The Saga of Spurt [OC]

Hello fellow Critters! I just wanted to share the latest animatic I made for other fans to enjoy.
During this time of quarantine and Shelter At Home I've taken some time to work on expanding my skillset as an artist and venture into storyboarding. I only started listening to Critical Role in January and there are SO MANY amazing interactions to capture it's hard to know which one I should try and visually capture. I just thought the interactions in this episode were too good to pass up so I gave it a shot. Again, I'll preface by saying I'm a background and concept artist so this isn't my forte.

If anyone has a suggestion on a scene they think would be fun to try next I'll take it into consideration. I'm only up to episode 70 or so, and please use the spoiler text tag!

Tahm Kench Top underrated........

Let me preface this by saying before season 10 I found Tahm Kench to be a fun support to play as I mained that role.

A few seasons later here I sit in the top lane with an awful win rate and I have no idea what to do to climb out of my slump. Enter Tahm Kench Top Lane- he is quite honestly the only reason that I have been able to consistently climb towards the end of this season. I believe he has everything that a top laner would need.

Level 1- 2 second stun... yeah that one speaks for itself

More than enough sustain basically having two health bars if trades are properly managed post level 3

My personal favorite- easy rift rotations even if the enemy has scuttle (sneak that ult in the back of the pit and you have rift before they see it coming)

I never thought that I would be in a position where I feel like i understand a champion well enough to make content but would like to venture down that rabbit hole and hopefully help some other Tahm Kench mains along the way or even get some people to try him top!

I would love any comments and feedback on what you think would be interesting guide material!

Disclaimer I was hard-stuck silver before finding out that he could help me climb so spare me please haha. anything helps. Cheers!

Things keeping me from going full blown Marxist (areas of concern)

PREFACE

Let me start off by saying that I can be swayed by objections in the comments below from those who attempt to help me address these areas of concern. I am not here to provoke (at least not in a malicious way).

In fact, any compelling counterarguments are welcome, as I am still on the fence with Marxist, so what better place to ask than this community? If I misrepresent Marxism throughout this post, please point it out and we can discuss.

Alright, so objections/concerns I have...

 1. Distinction between Conditions and Ideals

It's to my understanding that Marxism posits a sort of philosophical monism, and that, subsequently, all of matter within the universe is subjected to materialist interdependence. The materialist conception of history is of the mind that it's socio-economic realities that shape changes in history, and indeed, history itself - not some supposed utopianist aspiration.

My issue with this, is that I don't find materialist conditions and ideals mutually exclusive, but still meaningful in the differences they do have.

An ideal that a society's structure ought to undergo a change seems superfluously tied to the already present conditions that one inhabits, and is, therefore, an expression both in reaction to and in resistance of said circumstances. Ideals of a not currently existing reality must necessarily entail a sentiment of defiance towards the status quo, or at least a baseline recognition of the oppression by the structures in place. However, how exactly this ideal manifests in practice isn't uniform, of course.

It would be permissible if the Marxist perspective emphasized the materialist conditions as the catalyst for the ideals and the latter's dependence on the former, but it outright denies the unique role that ideals can have altogether. This doesn't seem congruent with what we know about history.

The French Revolution was brought about by the plight of the French underclass ruled over by an increasingly ailing aristocracy living in gross excess at the expense and negligence of the citizenry. But looking at the goal of the revolts is just as important as it's causation. The establishment of a Republic, or any semblance of form of governance, for that matter, which seeks to give everyday people some type of representation is equal parts influenced by the realities one is born into, as well as an imagination of what something can conceivably come into being, removed fro

First Time Monk and New D&D Player Seeks Comfort and Genuine Advice Please...

First off - thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and offering any advice / suggestions / reassurances you might offer.

I'm about to venture on my first D&D campaign as a Monk (Drunken Monk tradition) and I couldn't be more excited - I've done my research, I've got a solid backstory, all the traits / flaws / bonds vetted out, sought advice in other areas where I've identified gaps - which now leads me back here!

Let me preface by saying I absolutely love the character I've created, I am very attached to him, and I am excited to see what he becomes!

My concern is this - that by choosing a monk as my character class, is my engagement with the world going to be more 1-dimensional than those of other classes? Allow me to explain...

In preparing for this campaign, our group recently did a one-shot dungeon crawl with our characters to get used to the basics of combat, rules, game mechanics, etc. I've also been studying quite a bit of Critical Role content rather than just watching it for the pure entertainment it is. Fortunately, there is a Monk PC (Beau) that I can use as a key part of my study.

During the one shot - and this may very likely be due to my lack of knowledge, experience, etc. - I noticed that I didn't have many options available other than "I'm going to <insert physical attack> to <insert threat>" for my actions and bonus actions. This would be expected as a result of choosing a fighting class (martial arts). With Beau in Critical Role, I'm noticing much of the same - she's in the threat's face punching, using Ki, flurry of blows, patient defense, etc., etc., etc.

Further, I'm concerned what options this might leave me when not in combat as well. When faced with a threat - like detection, for example - other Critical Role players might use Charm or Disguise Self as a way to easily avoid unnecessary confrontation. Or, if stumped on trying to solve a puzzle, maybe cast Detect Magic or Detect Good and Evil to help move in the right direction.

Based on what I've written, you might simply ask, "Well, why did you choose the Monk class in the first place?" or "Why don't you just choose a class with spell-casting abilities?" or "You know you can multi-class, right? And, to be honest, I wouldn't really have a good answer for you. I think I am really drawn to the personage of the Monk and the style and flavor I can imagine him bringing in a world like D&D.

But, in choosing to play a Monk, have I limited m

I quit my job to start a business, but I’m not sure if it should actually be a nonprofit

I will preface this by saying directly: I do not know what I am doing other than my mission. Hooray.

I live on a very large river, one of the oldest rivers in the world. My state has not been taking the action it needs to actually keep the waterways safe, and though there are organizations that “help”- all they do is maybe 7 cleanups a year and classes on sustainability, common sense, etc.

I had an idea 6 months ago to just.. go pick up trash. I’d go all over, but focus primarily on areas close to water, river banks, creeks, and in the winter months focus more on urban areas. I’d start a patreon account, put the word out and try to get people to donate one dollar a month (more if they like) for the service. Then, when I’m making enough to pay myself and others, hire a few people that are struggling with keeping a “regular job” (mental health reasons mostly, but all marginalized folks really). Then, I want to put that extra money towards helping farmers eliminate toxic runoff, towards fish hatcheries cultivating mussel species (many are close to extinction and waterways need them for filtration) to release, maybe getting a small fishing boat so that I can get tires and crap out of the water, and.. I imagine I’ll find other things that need attention- probably a lot of them.

But... idk if this is the right avenue. I’m worried about hiring people, bc I really don’t want to get in hot water with the gov. I’m overwhelmed by all of it, but... I can’t take this world anymore. I quit my job and spent 4 hours looking for jobs that would allow me to just.. clean or help the earth. None exist without a degree, and prisoners sort of take care of things.. they get paid $14 per mile.

I want to be able to offer people a 4 day work week. An actual LIVABLE wage. Give comfort by paying someone to actually make a difference.. but I don’t know how to move forward without figuring out the employee thing. I’m not worried about promoting my venture, I’m charismatic, know many people, and I’m in a pretty popular band so I have a nice platform to work with.

I’ve never really felt.. so passionate about something. I’ve never had a job that has stuck. I have PTSD and a few other afflictions, so traditional jobs have always been hard. I hate being confined to a desk/building (claustrophobic) or working for some asshole that doesn’t actually care about LIFE and all it’s forms. I feel like I could actually do this, like I could help heal the planet AND people with this venture

What the coronavirus forcing me in lockdown's taught me about cooking; plus, how to make Mantou (馒头)

So there’s an offchance you might recognize my username: I’m the dude that’s posted weekly Chinese recipes here for the last… couple years or so. Together with my fiancé (who’s from Guangdong), we live in Shunde, China – a small city a bit south of Guangzhou on the Macau side of the delta.

I’m sure you’ve been inundated with news about the most recent coronavirus outbreak over on this side of the world – I certainly don’t want to pile on and make you any more anxious than you need to be. That’s not my goal: social media does a good enough job with that as is. It’s just that… I feel like this time’s given me some personal insights on food and cooking that I haven’t really had the chance to internalize in the past. Maybe everything I’m about to write is all obvious to you, I don’t know. But I figured I’d share regardless.

The situation we’ve found ourselves in

See, for the past two weeks or so, the city we live has more or less… shut down. People don’t go outside unless they have to – we take our dog for walks up on the roof of our apartment complex, make quick runs to 7/11 for supplies every two days or so (because I mean… alcohol is pretty much mandatory in a time like this), and… that’s pretty much it. Restaurants are for the most part all closed down. The city is essentially on the economic equivalent of life support – the only things that’re open are convenience stores, grocery stores, and pharmacies. There’s checkpoints and roadblocks entering and leaving the city. Hell, every time we leave or enter our apartment complex we’re checked for symptoms by the doorman. The only people that dare to go outside without a medical mask are those unlucky sods that didn’t get the chance to buy any before supplies ran out.

Now I don’t mean to paint too apocalyptic of a picture here. We live in Shunde, not Wuhan (which’s tragically borne the brunt of all this). A lot of these measures are precautionary, and… you sort of get used to it all. It sucks, no doubt. But it says a lot about human psychology just how quickly a new normal can become… normal.

Feeding yourself is an interesting challenge, however. Completely by happy accident, out of any of our friends or family we’re probably the most prepared for this kind of situation. We do a YouTube cooking thing, after all. We test a lot of recipes. Our cabinets, fridges, freezers are stocked with leftovers, sauces, nuts, dried seafood and mushrooms, frozen meats, pickles, tubers, grains… shit, we could probab

Jedi Luke Encourages less spending

To preface, I may be in the minority with my situation, so it may not be applicable to many of you.

I started playing end of 2017 and since that time we have had so many releases and requirements of GET 1 currency that I never bothered to farm Wampa. Those that have been around longer mostly likely have him, but I would venture a guess that around the time I was able to farm Wampa or Hoda, people made a decision for one and not the other, and never went back. Which brings me to my point: there is no reason for anyone who doesn't have Hoda and Wampa at 7 stars to spend any money or even crystals in an effort to unlock Jedi Luke.

The GET 1 currency wall is not surmountable by any method other than time, and the time it will take to get these GET 1 characters farmed to 7* greatly exceeds the time it will take to acquire the gear through free play.

So sit back, add the required characters to your favorites, and collect the gear on cheap/free because there is nothing you can do while waiting to collect that GET 1.

Edit: this mostly applies to current free to play or new players, those that spend money most likely already have the GET 1 characters and this does not apply.

Escaping Appalachia (Somehow?)

Let me preface this by saying I don’t know how I did this. I went AFK at a camp to eat dinner, came back and decided to visit the southern border of the map. And for whatever reason there was no border, so I kept walking. Eventually it was clear I’d left the map. I was standing on top of the black bear that’s at the bottom of the map. So I kept going. The world became surprisingly beautiful as I ventured south, but the textures obviously started pixelating. I made it far enough that I could only see the Monorail Elevator peeking over the mountains. Then, like all Bethesda games, I inevitably sunk through the map. But I could keep walking. I made it far enough to see the Promised Land - a totally flat and empty world area. But my trip was cut short. The game realized I’d gone too far, and Todd Howard himself delivered the final blow that crashed my game.

TL:DR - Surprise, a Bethesda game glitched. Here’s some (terrible) photos I took of the world outside of the 76 map. https://imgur.com/gallery/0KAKzNP

UPDATE: Apparently you can just leave the map wherever now! If you’re in need of wood, just head north above Aaronholt Homestead (past the unmarked caved-in Vault) and there’s plenty of salvageable logs outside of the map.

AITA for entering someone's trailer without EXPLICIT permission?

I'm a kart racing driver, who's equipment is stored in someone's trailer. I would've considered us pretty good friends, a mentor even; we've gone to a lot of awesome racing events together throughout the country and I was a part of helping to rebuild his racing team.

This past July 4th, I decided to venture up to my local kart track, just to enjoy my weekend since there's not much else going on with the current climate that America is in. I was initially planning to just use whatever karts were available at the track, but the trailer that was storing my kart was there. Great, now I don't need to bother anyone else at the track to get me a working kart!

I'll try to preface what I do next as best as I can: The trailer is locked with a 4-digit padlock. He gave me the code to his trailer to use "if you ever need to get in," which I thought would be reasonable in this case. I've showed up to the track early to unlock the trailer and start unloading for a race day many times before. I had tried to get him to come up that weekend, but he ended up never responding to my multiple requests. I also attempted to call him that day to ask, but he told me he was "watching the IndyCar race" on TV (one of the kids he used to coach now races in Indy) after my call wasn't answered, so I decided to not bother him further, since I was already in the trailer. I unlocked the trailer after the call declined, moved stuff out of the way from my kart, and took it out.

I spent the whole day driving the kart, using my own fuel (not shared with others, also stored in said trailer) and using tools available from the shop. I never touched anything in the trailer that wasn't directly mine, aside from moving some stuff around to get to the kart in the first place. At the end of the day, I packed everything up exactly how I had found it (strapped down, locked up, etc.) and went on my way. I told my friend that I had been in the trailer and had put everything back as I found it.

I was quickly met with a barrage of text messages, basically saying that I had broke in and I was kicked off his racing team. He took all my stuff out of the trailer and dumped it at the track's garage. I genuinely felt bad because I thought I had implicit permission (and trust) to use the trailer. AITA?

Where will they be in 2025?

Where do you guys think they will all be in 2025?

Here's my hopes. Preface: I hope KUWTK ends around 2021-2022

Kourtney and Scott: 50/50 on back together; however I really want them to have a house-flipping show in Southern California where they work together on fixing up georgeous houses in Malibu, etc., with Kourtney having so much fun helping out on interior design; could be on HGTV or like Netlix a la Selling Sunset; they both definitley have the personality to carry a show like this even if they arent together

Khloe: Not with Tristan; Living a relatively quiet life in a mansion with her only child, True; maybe eventually end up on a daytime talk show or a reality show host

Kim: Not with Kanye but I know she will be unfortunately; she'll probably be in same place she is now; scaterred with so many different ventures and dealing with Kanye's empires; she'll be sad about her declining relevance

Kylie: Really have no idea; hopefully just her and Stormi

Kendall: 29 year old kendall will be same as she is now; running around with friends, making money off insta, and still keeping her personal life private, no kids

Kris: Maybe No Longer with Corey anymore?; very comfortable and happy and relaxed as she turns 70 years old; maybe moves out to malibu to be coastal

This is the latest chapter out of several hundred, and I don’t think it will make much sense without context. This isn’t an episodic story so much as one long narrative.

Hopefully, you’ll enjoy yourself, and I’ll see you back here in good time. If not, no big deal. But I think if you start here you’re going to be very, very lost.

Just finished Trails of Zero

OK so continuing on my Trails journey I next ventured into Crossbell. To preface this I played the English fan translated PSP version which definitely played a big part in my opinion of the game. The translation was laughable and quite poor most of the time so I found myself frustrated with the dialogue. It didn't take enough of the enjoyment away for me to dislike the game though. I think it was more I missed a lot of the finer details and definitely the personalities of the characters that were really well illustrated in official translations of previous games. This did lead me to a point I think in Chapter 4 where I just could no longer be bothered to talk to all characters in all the cities and towns - something I found quite enjoyable in previous games. There were some missions where I had to look up a walkthrough because I knew the translation would just hinder me (e.g. the Phantom Thief B mission). On top of this, I think it affected my ability to bond with the main characters but I got the general gist of what was going on and their relationships too.

I think it terms of story it very much mirrored the first Trails game in the sense it was slow burn and a lot of the big events were happening behind the scenes which ultimately lead to the big reveal in the finale. The Dr Joachim being the protagonist as the twist very much mirrored Weissman being an evil professor dude in the earlier games too.

I think I preferred the structure of the Liberl games where you'd go from city to city as this allowed the talking to of NPCs and characters to remain quite focused and faster too. With Crossbell I felt like I had to go to so many different places to talk to everyone and it got quite tedious BUT this is most likely due to the poor translation. I wouldn't be surprised if I would have a better experience if playing a better translated version.

I am aware of there being a PC translated version but I think I was put off by the caffufle needed to get the second game? I might be overcomplicating what is a simple process to others but I accept I'll be playing the poorly translated ones for now haha! I can see myself replaying through these games in future so I might end up getting the better versions down the line!

Oh, one final note. I will say I really enjoyed seeing the characters that I knew from the Cold Steel games showing up and filling in the gaps. And I REALLY liked the Renne story here and that it got wrapped up in a sense. It was quite endearing and

A update/breakdown of Valkyrie’s visions thus far…(obviously, SOW spoilers)

Oh look at that, a Blotch post delving into Phase 2, that's something fans totally haven't seen a dozen or so times before, right? Totally.

Happy June, folks! Hope you’re doing well, and keeping healthy, you stallions, you. As I did a year or so ago with the aura colours (note: apart from the draugar aura, nothing from then has changed) here’s my parallel where I quickly recap all the elements from Valkyrie’s visions in Phase 2, give some of that classic Blotchtastic analysis and maybe give some more forgetful fans a nudge into memory lane. Just for reference, the two visions we’ve seen thus far in the second phase can be found at chapter 13 of Resurrection and chapter 8 of Midnight, as well as the singular prediction in Bedlam’s chapter 12. Now, without further ado, let’s venture into the steam and recap those ever-pressing glimpses of a future as bloody as it is eerie. By my reckoning, there’s been thirteen slices of future. Let’s call them vision bits. Thirteen is the unlucky number and with each of these harrowing events, our characters have, or will be, very unlucky indeed.

Apart from one, each vision bit is covered at least once, with more details conveyed in its second or third viewing. Although Valkyrie herself has indulged in seeing the future more than us, I am judging this on how the books develop the ideas. In Resurrection, three of the events are fulfilled- the first and most obvious one is Never being blasted by a torrent of energy, as Valkyrie sees a figure suffer this fate before rescuing Never from the blast during the battle of Coldheart in the book’s breathtaking finale. Second, is Abyssinia. During the earlier vision, Abyssinia does the impossible and touches Val physically, issuing her with a warning- thanks to Bedlam and Abyssinia’s death, it’s safe to say this one has been fulfilled too, as Abyssinia’s words “You will make me real” ring true after stealing a token amount of Val’s life force in the final act, resurrecting herself fully and free to organise her callous plans. Abyssinia pops up again in Valkyrie’s mind a couple of times in Midnight, hinting to a psychic link (they’re both Sensitives, Valkyrie by her Source powers and Abyssinia thanks to her dad’s powers) which was one of the reasons why I suspected them to be the same person. Well, that theory got crushed hard. Anyway, while the nature of Abyssinia’s vision in book 10 was ambiguous, Bedlam has essentially ended that line of peril. Cheers, Crepuscular. That only leav

How to Swing-Trade Back to PDT

Preface

When our sub was getting popular and before I had so much lovely positive feedback that now gives me a lot more confidence to post, I was starting to think my longer form stuff might scare away new traders and almost quit doing it. I just received my 11th email that said "I swear I feel like you are talking directly to me". So if I think something is of value I will post it and I will let the readers decide what they want or don't want to read.

If you normally just like charts and statistics I would encourage you to evaluate more thoughtful articles and posts (from anyone) because of how important an emphasis I always put on "knowing the emotional drive of other traders". This is one of those things that gives the edge to traders who make a lot more money than other, equally skilled, traders. Moreover if you try to learn a bunch of little things to remember when you trade instead of ideas and concepts you will forever limit how much you can memorize and how profitable you can become. It far easier and effective to just learn ideas and let the details fill in later once you have a framework to apply them to.

PDT

This is such a crippling and debilitating topic for most traders and one that I think people don't talk about enough (like all sensitive topics in life (health issues, trauma, stress, IBS anyone over 40?) . But very few traders skipped this tough time, it is what ends the 90% of traders who don't make it, and it is the first thing of your mind when you wake up and the last thing on your mind that keeps you up all night when you are struggling with it. How on earth are we supposed to trade our best, or even at all with that kind of pressure? I thought back to my post the other day which had some decent thoughts but little specifics. I decided to really think about my time under that cloud and give you some honest feelings that came roaring back like a childhood nightmare.

Trading is fun for me now and exciting and while I have bad days, I more often than not, wake up with a smile on my face and often can't get to sleep because I am so excited for the next day. But I never had that when I was around PDT. Even on my best days, it faded after a moment and the pressure returned. It was all consuming all the time. I Yolo'ed a lot to try to get back, I watched stocks fade all day while I lost thousands of dollars because I knew if I closed it would violate me. I was simultaneously having the best and worst days of my life,

My thoughts on Summer Pockets Reflection Blue

For those who weren't aware Summer Pockets Reflection Blue was released in Japan on 26/06/2020 which was a re-release of Summer Pockets with additional contents and further polish of the story.

Having finally finished the whole game, I just want to share my thoughts on the game with other enthusiasts.

So before I go into details about the game I just want to preface this by letting you know I am a huge fan of pretty much all of Key's work with CLANNAD and Rewrite being some of my all-time favourite VNs. So there could be some biases going on...

I ordered the limited deluxe edition from Japan via Zenmarket but due to COVID they are still unable to ship it to me at this time. So, in the end, I had to get it digitally and run a virtual Japanese machine to get the game running as well as running VN reader and google translate for some of the dialogues as my Japanese level is around lower/ intermediate.

So what has changed from the original to Reflection Blue:

- Some new dialogues namely comedic and non-essential bantering between Ryousuke and Tenzen

- Improved mini-games both Ping Pong and Critters Battles

- New BGM and CGs

- 4 new routes (Shizuku, Umi, Miki and Shiki)

So how does the new heroine hold up compare to the original 4? well I have summarised the general storyline for the routes as well as changes made to the original story below, but be warned spoilers.

--------Spoilers Ahead--------Spoilers Ahead--------Spoilers Ahead--------Spoilers Ahead------

Mizuori Shizuku

https://preview.redd.it/6cu9sgo6q6a51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=b43c3fbbeb1ba0dc1c2195e020bd140f1b246312

By far my favourite route, for those who have read the original we know Shizuku-Senpai play a major supporting role in Tsumugi's story. For Shizuku's story, of course, Tsumugi will play a major role, Shizuku's story is about setting up a curry house in the island where Hairi, Tsumugi and Shizuku can hang out and a place that they can call "home".

Shizuku also suffers from memory loss, but she only forgets the negative stuff thus she is always a positive and calm person. This is due to stress from being in a "dysfunctional" (borderline abusive) family situation, so one day she made a prayer to the gods of the island to remove all her worries. Since then she could clear all her negative memories from her head. (It is unclear whether this was self-hypnotism or not as I had a hard time understanding the Japanese words)

I feel like the impact of the whole Martha thing in BvS is an issue with internet culture more than it is the scene being crappy

I'll preface this by saying, I don't think it's a great scene, the dialogue choices are definitely a bit weird but I don't think they're so nonsensical that they should be unacceptable.

##To begin

"Why did they just become friends because their mom's have the same name!?"

Personally I never took that away from the scene but looking in to it I guess I can see why some might think that way, even though that just seems like a really dumb take. To me that's the sort of thing that flashes across your brain in a split second but the rational part of you grabs your shoulder and says "Bruh no, think about this before saying something"

It's a knee jerk take I would say, bonus internet points for sounding funny for how stupid it is, hearty laughter from all who hop along, the scene becomes a joke to them forever.

They didn't become friends at all here, Batman just gave up on his crusade because he immediately realized and accepted how wrong he is. It kind of is just that simple.

And this is where I think the internet trips up, because this is such a foreign concept to people. Including myself, not gonna lie.

Everyone wants to be right and few people can accept that they're wrong, on the internet how often do you see people say "Oh, I guess I was wrong?" Only in the most chilled out awesome communities will you ever consistently see someone back down from their position and graciously admit that they were wrong. You might see that in communities on Reddit but venture elsewhere and...no. Plenty subreddits are devoid of all logic as well, let's not kid ourselves.

I certainly don't feel like I need to prove this, people will argue about something for hours when they're clearly wrong, I bet everyone who reads this post has experienced it many times considering where I'm posting this. A lot of you are probably guilty of it too, this includes me.

I've bitched out of a lot of debates and sometimes I have shitty opinions or ideas because I don't know enough about the subject yet want to be involved anyway. It's easier to just pretend it didn't happen than to admit defeat like some loser, even if you are just...wrong.

The main point being that I feel like a big reason people couldn't connect with the scene is because they couldn't understand Batman, how could he just change like that and admit he was wrong? It doesn't make sense for his character to completely change! This in turn fuelled the hatred online, like minded individuals could come t

A Kramer Theory. [Warning: This is really dumb]

Let me preface this by saying that this is really dumb and both the real Jerry and the show Jerry would think I was an idiot for overthinking the show and for taking the time to write it up. I know this, but I've been socially distancing and working from home since mid-March and Seinfeld has been in the background of almost every menial task I've done in that time so, yada yada yada, I have this theory.

Kramer is constantly in pursuit of all kinds of different business ventures and creative endeavors, but is of course perpetually out of work and never seems to be hunting for a job or even concerned about it. He's a free spirit, no doubt, but one must wonder how he makes ends meet. He lives across the hall from Jerry, who is clearly financially successful, and there's never a mention (that I'm aware of) of him struggling to pay his rent or being worried about eviction. He doesn't carry a wallet ("Oh, I get by" - S5:E13, The Dinner Party), yet he doesn't seem to have a ton of disposable income, readily accepting anything free and mooching food off his friends.

However, consider the cold open of S8:E4, The Little Kicks. Jerry and Kramer are walking down the street and have the following conversation: > Kramer: I wouldn't walk over there.

> Jerry: Why not?

>Kramer: It's the most dangerous part of the sidewalk. Cab hops a curb, wap! You've had your last egg sandwich.

>Jerry: What about over there? You know air conditioners fall out all the time.

>Kramer: I'd much rather get hit by an 80 pound air conditioner than a two ton cab.

>Jerry: No, cab's comin' in right here (Hand at waist) Set of plastic hips, prosthetic legs, and a monkey to answer the door, I'm back in business.

>Kramer: Much rather take it to the head, Like I did in '79.

>Jerry: You were livin' in the village then, right?

>Kramer: Don't really remember.

So I propose the following theory. Kramer was hit in the head by an air conditioner that fell out of a building in The Village and sued the building owner. The resultant settlement included a place for Kramer to live in another of the owner's buildings, one that happens to be at 129 W 81st St, New York, NY. Consider that Kramer, to Jackie Chiles' frequent chagrin, is far more likely to take an offer of a place to live forever than a la

My Critique of Anarchism Part 1

I worked pretty hard on this, so please no "lmao fuck off tankie"replies, thanks. I hope we can have a productive discussion

Original Version (better formatted): https://docdro.id/AFF2o80

Towards a Critique of Spontaneity and Anarchism

Preface: Any extremised language is not meant to be taken seriously, it’s a writing ploy in an attempt to replicate the writing style of these intellectuals

Amongst the left, a growing faction(1) has sprang forth, with immense momentum, it vigorously clashes with capitalist elements at tremendous pace, like no other faction has engaged in for some time (whether it is because of the fall of the Soviet Union, propaganda, or the rise of fascism, is irrelevant): the individuals I speak of are of course, the anarchists. An invaluable movement to the left, aiding and nourishing its growth, but also the victim of many theoretical failures and errors. It is thus up to us, Marxist-Leninists and Marxist-Leninists-Maoists, to instigate, and catalyse the evolution of this movement, and to bring forth the torch lit up by the anarchists to full victory. In this piece, I will work to take the hand of anarchists, specifically, their approach for prompting revolution, and gently show them their errors, not to feed my own ego, but to magnify the revolutionary potential of the Left as a whole.

Before that, I will quickly describe the opposing attitudes to this question:

Note: in the following, the red text is the most critical for the discussion

The Anarchist Strategy

 1. Wait for conditions to get bad enough and fight for reforms within boundaries of the system
 2. A resistance movement will manifest
 3. Political consciousness disseminates naturally, and becomes the foundation of the movement
 4. Socialist revolution without a state (centralized army, institutions, etc…) is achieved, authority (extent depending on specific anarchist) is dismantled, and replaced with voluntary associations
 5. Socialist revolution is defended without the aid of a state, and through decentralized, voluntary institutions

The Marxist-Leninist Strategy

 1. Attempt to spread political consciousness within the working class through an organized vanguard party Wait for conditions to be ripe for revolution
 2. A movement arises naturally again, but its growth is aided by previous work done by the vanguard party
 3. The socialist character of the resistance movement is asserted through the work done by the vanguard party (

My best friend found a book while we explored in the woods. Now we’ve been cursed

I want to preface this by saying my best friend Rowan and I are urban explorers. This is important.

My best friend and I have just gotten out of school for summer break 6 weeks ago. Within two days we had gotten bored. So we started watching YouTube videos over Zoom calls. We found an urban explorer named Moe Sargi.

We watched some of his videos, his older ones and decided to go urban exploring because it seemed like a cool way to get outside and have fun. We were wrong.

The first time we went we just went down to the abandoned Goober and Sons supermarket to get the feel of it before we started venturing into the woods. It was a good time, with us messing around and just being teenage degenerates.

The second time, we went to the woods on the edge of town and scouted the area using Rowans drone. We found an old shed about 200 yards into the woods. So we brought the drone back and went to check it out. There was nothing interesting there, just a half covered pile of firewood outside, and half full cabinets inside.

The third time, that was the last time we went. The third time we went was two weeks after the second and first times. I don’t exactly remember why there was such a gap between the excursions but it wasn’t anything big happening to either of us, I know that. Anyway, this time we went to the same woods and used Rowan’s drone to scout farther into the woods. We found a very large wooden manor rotting about a mile outside of town in the woods.

When we saw the manor on the drones live feed, we freaked. We couldn’t believe we had made such a massive discovery. We ran back to Rowan’s house, put away the drone, and ran right into the woods in the direction of the manor. We very quickly became out of breath. So we walked most of the way. It took about half an hour to get to the manor, and once we got there we had to scale a brick mortar wall that surrounded the large structure.

Once over the wall, we got a good look at the hulking behemoth of a structure we had stumbled upon. We walk ran up to the houses large front porch, with all of its peeling black paint and creeky wooden stairs. We got up to the door and tried opening it. Having no other option we broke urban explorer rule one. We broke the door down.

It wasn’t either of our proudest moments, but hey, we were inside. The houses interior didn’t disappoint when compared to the outside. There was nothing interesting downstairs, just furniture and the suc

My first true DPH trip (375mg).

Preface: I started taking DPH a little over a week ago with harmless, 25mg-50mg doses just to help me get to sleep at night. My tolerance was noticeably increasing over time, and it went quickly from 50mg a night to 100mg a night. Next thing you know, I was taking anywhere from 150mg-250mg per night. Oddly enough though, none of these doses ever really had any effect on me. All they ever really did was make me drowsy at most. Maybe an auditory hallucination here or there, but no negative feelings or anything (such as anxiety or paranoia). I've even taken some of those doses with the intent of tripping, only to be let down several times followed by me passing out at some point. But then, I decided I was going to go full send. I was going to make sure I trip, and counted up 15 pills (375mg). I sat down by my laptop and set them aside with a bottle of water, looking up any final questions I had about what I was getting myself into.

I prepared myself and quickly downed eight pills. I swallowed, then immediately downed the remaining seven. As I sat there having just ingested nearly 400mg basically all at once, anxiety began to set in almost instantaneously. I quickly started doing more research on any final questions I had about what to expect (especially from my dosage), and while I got most of the answers I was looking for, most of them weren't exactly what I wanted to hear as far as what I was about to experience goes.

The Come-up: Bear in mind that I was completely alone throughout this entire experience. Exactly an hour after ingesting the pills, the effects began to present themselves; I was hit with a wave of relaxation. It hit me like a truck. I wasn't too alarmed because it didn't feel incredibly different from how my previous 200mg+ doses made me feel, but that's how I knew that this is where it starts. After about two minutes, I wasn't expecting much to happen, especially given the fact that I had a tolerance. But then I saw it. On my laptop screen swiftly crawled what looked just like a small black widow spider. It absolutely scared the shit out of me. It wasn't even translucent, it was completely opaque. I saw it for less than two seconds and it vanished. "There's no way this is actually doing this to me right now," I thought to myself. I couldn't believe it. I stood up and looked around my room; at the walls, on the floor; spiders (mostly brown recluses if not any generic small body with eight legs you can visualize) would briefly pop in

I'm really struggling on the Invasion side of things lately...

Okay, so I want to preface this by saying that I'm going to take a moment to rant about what's bothering me, but ultimately I want to get better at this and if you are willing and able to give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

PvP seems to be going fine. I do pretty well against the invaders most of the time. Not always, but usually. I'm starting to get the hang of things. I've been practicing my roll catching as well as my spacing and just all around making positive improvements. I figured it was finally time to properly learn to invade, which was good timing because I need to get some covenant items still.

I started with Aldrich Faithful thinking it would be a nice starting point with an opportunity for teammates in a high traffic area. Boy was I wrong. I would either get Disconnects, or absolute gank squads. Now, I'm going to be honest, I obviously expected the gank squads. I know how matchmaking works in this game and I knew it was something I had to deal with, but I had no idea the sheer artform gankers have boiled it down to. I know anything can be overcome if you're a better player, but that's what I'm doing here... I'm practicing, and I'm not getting a lot of opportunity to actually do so because I'm running up against people who clearly spend a lot of their free time ganking. They're very efficient at it.

Half the time I don't get a teammate, or I'm the backup spawning in but my teammate dies before I can get to them. Which tends to make me vulnerable because now they know where I am and it's not always easy to get out of there.

I decided to make a low level character for some invasions in High Wall up until Farron Keep. I had some moderate success at first. Encountered a few players who were clearly just hanging around waiting for 1v1 duels and while I mostly got my ass beat, they were fun fights and in all but one of them I held my own decently enough. Very good practice.

I got the occasional newcomer, in which case I'd drop a few embers and then fight them. Sometimes, if they seemed really bad and/or scared I'd just black crystal out. I know how crushing invaders can be to newcomers and I didn't want to contribute to that, so I just drop some items and be on my way.

It's just those experiences are a very small minority. Again, I expected gankers when Invading, I know that's just what you're going to see, but I figured twinks aren't too bad to deal with because at that SL (16 +1) there is still only so much you can d

Evaluating Marina's albums as a new fan.

To preface this, I've been listening to Marina for about no more than two months so far. I used to listen to her ironically, specifically songs from her electra heart album, a little before I started getting into her music. I attempted listening to the entire album before, after only knowing about bubblegum b*** from around 2017? I believe I discovered it through one of these edits of movie clips put together with music playing, the movie was Marie Antoinette (2006), I digress, I found the album naive and preteen girl-ish at first, that of course has changed.

I've always been a Melanie Martinez fan, ever since her early crybaby album era in 2015, I've always seen her being compared to both Lana Del Rey and Marina, as they are the three well known queens of alternative pop, I ventured onto the world of Lana Del Rey first, only to discover that it was a massive injustice to equate the two because of how different and unique they both sound. As with her comparisons to Marina, she got accused of copying the concept of electra heart and "flopping at it". First of all, people can't own concepts, second of all, crybaby is her alter ego, her entire stage persona that she has kept up, even in her second album, electra heart was merely a character study that began and ended in an era for a single album.

Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to clarify that I'm still not as involved with Marina as a person and I still didn't get enough time to dissect every single song bit by bit, but I got the general idea of her music career, as well as listening to every album; however, I still didn't dive into the unreleased or singles that I might not be aware of. I still need time to catch up on all that good stuff.

 • The family jewels

This one was an absolute delight, I really love the themes she explored and went for that have to do with the internal struggles and uncertainties that people and especially teenagers have about their lives and futures. I enjoy the blend of upbeat music with darker lyrics. I managed to recognize "I am not a robot" and "Oh no!", I've listened to them years back without knowing the artist. It would be difficult in general to pick out a favorite in each album, but I consider the first song I get hooked on as a favorite, in this album it was Mowgli's road. The only criticism I have for this album would be that I felt like some songs sounded kinda flat and were rendered average. Over all I'd give it 8.5/10.

What's the deal with Blackberry?

I should probably preface things with the obvious, I'm new to investing and the stock game. Anyways...

Twice now I've seen Motley Fool talk up Blackberry with articles like this as a potentially valuable long position due to their refocusing on cybersecurity software being a lucrative venture.

Is there any truth to this? Or is this just meaningless filler? And I guess it's worth asking too, is MF any good as far as investment blogs go?

Thanks everyone

[[ Jumpstart Data Results ]] - What I received after 16 runs

Hi all,

Let me preface by saying I was really looking forward to the release of Jumpstart, and while there are many on both sides of the fence critiquing the execution of it, overall, I had a fun and casual time playing with new cards in a quick shuffle-up queue. Here's the data I got from my 16 total runs --

These are the Themes I had and what I opened from them, including my ICRs from winning.

 • The only theme I repeated was Enchanted (I had all of them that were offered). Interestingly, the only rares I pulled that were effectively 5th copies were both Archons from Enchanted and a Woe Strider ICR. Garruk was the only mythic I already had 4-of.

 • Early on at the initial launch, I "lost" two ICRs that I couldn't find in my collection and weren't marked as "new" by the collection organizer. The bug glitched the visual so I didn't see what my reward was, even though it registered that I had received one.

 • I got an entire playset of Tinybones from these events (1 from Discarding, 3 from ICRs).

These are the percentages of my overall rewards compared vs. # of entries/themes.

Overall, I think this data is a bit skewed for two reasons:

 • One - there isn't enough data to show any significant trends (16 entries feels like a lot but there's a lot of room for error).

 • Two - being able to choose your themes means that I was picking only themes that I didn't already have (to collect lands) or were otherwise high rarity. This means you can't really trust my percentages in the sense of "percent chance that you open a rare/mythic theme" because there were times personal choice played into it. The ICRs also are missing two data points.

That said, I averaged 2.2 rares and .75 mythics per entry from opening themes, and got a mythic ICR essentially every-other entry.

Final points - Total costs, values, and absent themes

 • Overall, I think I was very lucky in lack of repeated themes. My very first entry was Phyrexian Liliana, and my personal goal for this venture was to get the Phyrexian land, so I already felt like I had hit my mark early on. I chose themes based on if I already had the basic, and then by rarity, so I never passed a mythic theme that I didn't have unless there were other mythics in that rotation. I think the only mythic themes I saw more than once were Walls, Phyrexian, Basri, and Garruk.

 • In total, I spent 10K gold and 4.4K gems

What is Crypto Bull and Crypto Bear?

Preface

The combination of Crypto + Altcoins definitely sounds ’volatile’ for most people due to low liquidity, lack of reputation, lack of community, lack of regulations, etc. As a result, people are less inclined to venture into the Crypto (and Altcoin) space which has led to lesser awareness and liquidity, and there aren’t any derivative markets that are available for altcoins.

On the other hand, some altcoins seem to be considered the hidden gem in the eyes of traders with a higher risk appetite and venture capitalists. They follow the basic financial principle of “high risk high return” and have accumulated in some altcoins with the potential to increase significantly in their price. However, in order to mitigate the risk and ensure a high probability of success, this would require a very deep pocket which only a very limited number of people have the capability to do so.

Is there any derivative or instrument available for the retail and individual user to have an open position in altcoins while limiting the downside risk?

What is Crypto Bull & Crypto Bear?

The essence of finance is exchanging the value of a variety of assets across specific time and space. Crypto Bull and Crypto Bear are similar to option products, they are designed to hedge the future fluctuation in today’s value. In short, it is an insurance product that provides the price floor to protect the initial principal while opening position towards the expected market movement direction.

Suitable market condition

Crypto Bull & Bear is a tool to hedge future expectations by leveraging ‘time value’ in the highly volatile market while providing a price floor. In stagnant markets, participants might lose transaction fees as the settlement price falls within the price gap; in contrast, participants might be able to gain return with the protection of initial value in a highly volatile market.

It is also worth noting that Crypto Bull & Bear provides minimal negative impact to the principal amount by locking the price floor, aka ‘low risk, medium return’. Hence, it is suitable for participants who are afraid to miss the ‘FOMO’ (downside of upside) of altcoin from time to time, and at the same time, without losing money.

Crypto BULL - for those who want to buy altcoin in the highly volatile market, but afraid of buying it high and losing the capital. Crypto BEAR - for those who want to sell altcoin in the highly volatile market , but afraid of selling it low.

The Outrage of NBA Fans is Disproportionate.

I'd like to preface this by stating that what GSW part-owner Mark Stevens did in game 3 was unacceptable. He pushed Kyle Lowry and deserves to be fined and suspended from attending games.

However, it is my opinion that the outcry has been wildly disproportionate to other acts of violence in the NBA.

I realise that it was less about the fact that the 60 year old Silicon Valley venture capitalist might've hurt Lowry with his left handed push and was more just the fact that he laid his hands on a player in an unfriendly way.

The public outcry has been intense. People are calling for a lifetime ban and demanding that he be forced to sell his shares in the team. The incident is already written on his Wikipedia page.

People are out for blood with Kyle Lowry leading the charge.

>"A guy like that, showing his true class, and he shouldn't be a part of our league. There's just no place for that."

>"The support I've gotten from fellow players, the league, has been unbelievable. With that being said, I think more should be done."

>"I have 2 young children and being able to hold myself to a certain standard. Which I do. I hold myself to a high, high standard."

These are all quotes from Kyle Lowry. The same Kyle Lowry who in 2012 pled guilty to the battery of a female referee at a charity basketball game.

This was one of his quotes on that day:

>"B****, meet me outside. I will kick your a**!"

He then proceeded to throw a basketball at her for a second time, as hard as he could. He (potentially) received a fine of up to $1,000 and was suspended for 0 games. 500 times less than Mark Stevens got for his push. The fine was from a judge in a courtroom and not even from the league. The league did nothing. There is no mention of this on Lowry's wikipedia page.

If Lowry thinks $500,000 and a year ban is soft for Mark Stevens then I wonder what he thought about his $0, 0 game punishment for battery of a woman in 2012?

In August of 2010, beloved NBA clown Lance Stephenson pushed his pregnant girlfriend down a staircase and then proceeded to bash her head against the stairs.

Two years prior to this he sexually assaulted a 17 year old girl at his high school.

He went on to play over 500 NBA games and earn over $35 million dollars.

At the time of the staircase a

Benchmade Custom Mini Crooked River (M4) - initial impressions

Gallery: https://imgur.com/gallery/feBeWgp

I’ll preface this with some info about my utter lack of experience with knives. I’ve only ever owned one serious pocket knife, the s30v Kershaw Blur — and I love it. However I felt it was time to venture into foreign territory. Enter the Mini Crooked River.

I chose to go custom so I could get the blade in M4. My s30v blade requires constant resharpening from the abuse I put it through.

Initial Impressions:

This is a very sturdy knife. The blade seems ground well (even on both sides, etc), and it’s well centered inside the scales (though not perfectly). I was happy to see this given how many reviews I’ve seen complaining about poor grinding and centering on other Benchmades. I wonder if I dodged a bullet by going Custom. The blade unfortunately arrived in an unusable state, and required sharpening. It wouldn’t even cut paper. Lastly, the dull matte finish on the Dymondwood handle material is disappointing aesthetically. Im sure this can be fixed though.

Sharpening experience:

This is a tough steel! I bought the Ken Onion Worksharp to help ease sharpening since I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. The coarse belt barely put a dent into the blade, requiring many many passes to get the angle edge I wanted. This is in stark contrast to the s30v blade I’m used to. Very glad I got the Ken Onion Worksharp, even if in my newbness I damaged my scales a bit by accidentally running them against the belts :( for future high-end knives I’m going to have to learn to do things the slow and old-fashioned way if I want to keep things looking nice.

Actual use:

After sharpening, I decided to tackle some of the wooden branches I’ve been saving for making walking sticks. Upfront things went quite smoothly — the edge the M4 metal took was much sharper than the s30v I’m accustomed to, and it didn’t dull at all during my work session whereas my s30v typically requires a touch up afterwards. After some time I ran into an issue with ergonomics, however. The Mini’s small handle was not kind after time, and wore my hand out much more quickly than my Blur typically does — despite the blade being superior.

Summary:

This is an good knife, but I don’t feel it’s necessarily worth the price. It didn’t come sharpened, and there are much cheaper knives with M4 or similar blade steels that have superior ergonomics. At first glance the aesthetics are great, but the dullness of the Dymondwood prevents this knife from being the work of art

“I’m Sitting on 5, Unreleased Albums”

So this is from Everybody Dies, and I’ll preface this by saying I wasn’t a part of the sub back then, so I’m not sure what’s been said about this.

When I heard this I was absolutely stunned and didn’t believe it at first but it all makes sense now.

Excluding YS1V from this list, the 5 would have to be

 1. Supermarket (VMG considers this a studio Album)
 2. COADM
 3. NP
 4. U85
 5. BT3 (this is the only unconfirmed one, however it seems like most people agree this is plausible)

If we do accept these as the 5 unreleased albums he mentioned, then this makes me think that (as much as I don’t wanna entertain the idea) that U85 is his last planned album. He’s got the work ethic of a machine, and I could see him working a little on each of these throughout the past years and the present. So there’s no doubting he would have the vision to plan ahead like this. He also is venturing out into the film industry and books, so I can see how with these different fields and the birth of his son, that he may be planning to hang up the mic after U85.

Maybe Kai and Thomas’s Adventure to “Paradise” is a metaphor for Logic and his career, how he had to leave his home and put everything on the line so that he could find his paradise and true happiness. So what happens when they get there? Is the story over or will there be stories about their time on paradise? The same goes for logic, if Kai and Thomas’s adventure is a metaphor for Logic’s life/career, then what happens after U85?

What do y’all think about this? (Both the 5 unreleased albums and the theory)

I’ll go on record and say that I’m not a theorist, I’m just a big logic fan who had too much coffee today, so let me know what y’all think.

[OC]Diggers - Chapter 1

Hi guys! I’m back! …… ish?

I’m real sorry if I haven’t updated Cubs, I tried to rewrite the whole thing until I realized all I actually had was points A and Z when I barely have any idea how to move on to point B.

So I decided to scrap the story and will probably somehow roll it into another story in one way or another. I actually liked writing with the perspective of a cybernetically wolf.

But anyway, I accidentally binged on a bunch of isekai type HFY where space marine level humans interact with Tolkienland types and I figured, hey, I can do that to…. I’m sure I’ll regret it down the line, but, eh, quarantine and all that.

So, let’s just end this preface and get on with the story!

___

Digger

Chapter 1 – Doom’s Gong

Kingdom of Aratha

Forest of Melosh’isth’Aratha

Undisclosed Dig Location

Miel’eil’Frasia, her friends, colleagues, and mentor, all with hammer and chisels in hand, after ten [years] of digging, were looking at the same thing which lied beyond the collapsed pile of rock in the ancient cave.

It wasn’t really dark in the cave – crater, at this point of the expedition, really, where the high noon sunlight couldn’t reach, there were ample amounts of glowspheres and wisp spells to keep any sizeable shadow from forming. They couldn’t afford to be infiltrated by Shade agents, especially now, during this desperate time of the long war.

As the workers and assistants scrambled to illuminate the new section, Her ears twitched in wonder at what she saw.

It was a strange looking door, about five times as tall as she was and ten times as wide. It is framed by an impossibly smooth inverted arc no thinner than her finger. Judging from the width of arc that was piercing the ground, the rest of it was probably a good six [feet] beneath the where they stood on. The arc was made of steel, of all things, and the size of which gave her the impression that it was made to mock the gods of rock and wood, and fire.

The wall was made of a strange rock that Frasia couldn’t identify, granted, she wasn’t really that advanced in geomancy, but she could tell that it seemed fused to the actual rock within the cave. Impossible, but she had a sinking feeling that this is only going to be the second time she will think that today.

But most impossible of all, it seemed, was the door itself. It was polished – not exactly – steel, she can’t tell what it was, really, but it was very sturdy. She gave it a firm tap with a finger knuckle a

Living with NMom during Pandemic proved to be Catastrophic

Hello everyone! This page really has helped me to feel less, how can I say, dejected and alone regarding being raised by a narc parent, so heres this tea (Long Post)

I'm 20, and was previously NC with Nmother for 2 years after spending one year in college and decided instead to get the hell out after almost being fatally harmed by her. After opening lines of communication to my mother during Thanksgiving of last year cases started to arise overseas with Covid....and after having the first hand experience of the way NYC Youth Shelters do little for the youth populaces it houses especially with basic upkeep, cleaning and distribution of supplies, I had to begrudgingly toy with the idea with having to move back home, and you'll understand why...

She begs me to move back when I bring up the possibility a few weeks before I have to leave the shelter, and I concede especially giving she was having altercations with a tenant and neighbors etc etc, so I THOUGHT it wouldn't hurt to move back home for the sake of helping maintain my family residence in her older years and also to be honest making it easy for me to have my childhood home for myself if she passes or moves away.

Heres where we get to the breakdowns of how her mentally and emotionally draining tactics rears their ugly head and I'll break them down categorically;

I. Invasions of Privacy/ Extreme Invasive Acts

A. After the first few days to atleast 2 months of being back home she's developed this habit of (spying?) observing me while I sleep. Being in a homeless shelter granted the last shelter I resided was really nice because it was an apartment building and groups of us each had a unit and our own respective rooms, so I've grown accustomed to sleeping with a completely shut door, but also because one staff member in particular would 'check' up on me very early in the morning, so I've grown hyperaware to movement and noises in and around my room door more than I ever have been even with how I raised. Knowing that and telling my mom that situation with the staff member my mother agreed /Eagerly and Wholeheartedly/ that I was a adult young woman who needed her space and could have my door closed...while being spectacle I was hopeful because it was exactly what I f*cking deserved.

I stay up late and even when I'd be laying in bed with the lights out awake but seemingly sleeping, when she would make trips to the bathroom (My bedroom is closest to the bathroom in the hallway,) she would try to c

Building budget for my son but hard to find parts, is it worth it to upgrade myself and give him mine?

Let me preface by saying I have been PC gaming and building desktops since I was in my teens in the mid 90s. I don't need to learn how to build, or how computers work (I am saying this because I posted in another sub and they were telling me to buy a laptop or to buy cheap parts just to "learn the process", and I for damn sure am not buying a laptop). I always saved up for new builds when new gens came out, but I haven't had to build since 7th gen intel since my rig can handle anything I throw at it. My son's birthday is coming up in August and he has been begging for a gaming desktop, and I would like to get him something so we can throw down together. However, he doesn't need much. I have been trying to source a budget build recently and it seems like every motherboard is $150-200+.. PSUs and GPUs are in short supply.. PSU prices have gone up and the only things I can find gold rated are 850W plus for $150, but he doesn't need that much wattage. These aren't really budget build options. Also the only thing I do not want to cheap out on is a PSU. Has to be gold or better.

Here is my question.. Since I am unfamiliar with RTX, 10th gens, new Ryzen CPUs, etc... should I build myself a new desktop with current gen components and just give him mine? I just started filling out a cart at Micro Center and it started getting pricey. I usually go for the best of my needs, but damn it's way more expensive than it ever has been.

Current build specs:

 • i7-7700k
 • 16GB 3200MHz RAM
 • EVGA GTX 1080 SC2
 • EVGA SuperNova G2 750W PSU
 • 2 x 500GB Samsung EVO 960 NVMe m.2

That being known, I made a cart for him, with a 9600k, 1660 Super, 16GB 2666MHz RAM, and everything else needed (minus a PSU), but including the monitor, mouse, and keyboard. It came out to around $1250 with tax and I still need a PSU.

Would it be worth it, to upgrade myself to a 10600k or 10700k, 2080, etc? I carted a 10700k, MoBo, GTX 2080, 32GB 3600MHz RAM, 1TB NVMe M.2, and it's around $1,700 with just those parts, no case, no PSU.

It appears going from a 1080 to a 2080 is a roughly 20% performance boost, plus it would have RTX.. That's the biggest expense obviously.. but is it worth it?

I play a lot of games, but most of my time is spent playing WoW, Sea of Thieves, PUBG, APEX, Minecraft, and Diablo 3. I also have been venturing into creating YouTube content since this COVID stuff started and have been spending a LOT of time at home.. just made my f

Games are more often decided by the worst player than the best.

To preface and get this out of the way, no, this is not a rant in the vein of "omg i carry so hard and my shit teammates lose the game solo". I want to bring attention to this as a tendency I've seen across both wins and losses across the last few months.

So. As I've been venturing my way through solo queue this season alongside all you other summoners out there, I've been paying more and more attention to the seeming tendecy that the team that usually wins the game is not the one with the fed carry, but rather the one who's opposing team has one or two very poor performers.
It's starting to get increasingly depressing seeing, say, your midlane Fizz go 20/2 and proceed to lose the game because top and bot are doing poorly. On the flipside it's equally depressing seeing the enemy's Aatrox wrecking house, but because his jungler and support didn't do so hot, he's dragged into the whirlpool with them.

I seem to remember Riot talking about this in the Pre-Season, how they wanted individual agency to shine like it used to, and for solo carrying to be viable again as it was in seasons past, yet I'm seeing very much the opposite here in the live game. It might just be that I'm too low rank for these things to apply, but I still feel like it should be able for a person to singlehandedly wrest out a victory if they do well enough regardless of ranks or teammates.

I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

What's your observation? Do you feel like solocarrying is as viable as it used to be? Are games being decided based on the strongest links or the weakest?

So I read the book in a day: here are some of my loose thoughts

So let me preface this by saying I watched the series because my mum kept telling me it was amazing and I was cynical about it highly. I'm a 21 year old white dude whose never really had a emotional connection with mainstream 'romance' in films or TV shows but I have to say this series broke me as a person and as a man.

You can see a l

It also provided an opportunity to see the crop of new Soldiers and provide "draft pick" recommendatio

[OC] Diggers - Chapter 1 (Re-uploaded)

Preface v2.0 :

Reuploaded as a multicomment post because I’m not sure why this went above the 40k character limit which is keeping me from editing. Also fixed a few elftalk grammar stuff cuz I’m a wannabe Tolkien when it comes to made up languages. Also made the glossary into a separate page cuz I have a sinking feeling it might need to be soon… and because I’m a Robert Jordan fan.

Chapter 1 – Doom’s Gong

Kingdom of Aratha

Forest of Melosh’isth’Aratha

Undisclosed Dig Location

Miel’eil’Frasia, her friends, colleagues, and mentor, all with hammer and chisels in hand, after ten [years] of digging, were looking at the same thing which lied beyond the collapsed pile of rock in the ancient cave.

It wasn’t really dark in the cave – crater, at this point of the expedition, really, where the high noon sunlight couldn’t reach, there were ample amounts of glowspheres and fire spells to keep any sizeable shadow from forming.

She gave it a firm tap with a finger knuckle and there was hardly any sound.

Solid, like, really solid. She can hardly fathom the amount of fire and mana was required to even just forge a square [i
