Looking for that qualm life on my nature walks.
A large suitcase.
A word or morpheme whose form and meaning are derived from a blending of two or more distinct forms (such as smog from smoke and fog).
it's a Natalie Portmanteau.
The word "endorphin" is a portmanteau of which two words?
2 points, must give both words

I hope everyone has had a joyful, fun filled whatever festivmas or nothing specialmas. Festivus for the rest of us?
In terms of fantasy slapping one thing into another to make a new thing, there is the fun word portmanteau. Maybe for some of you, your introduction to it was also from Lewis Carrol and such fun things as the jabberwocky with words like chortle (chuckle + snort) or slithy (lithe + slimy). Heck, I guess snark goes to Carrol too. Maybe you think of Napoleon Dynamite and ligers for the offspring of lion and tiger?
There is also that current events politics portmanteau that shall go unnamed for our UK friends involving Britain and Exit or something. I cannot recall right now.
I was gifted a used Createuers Deck which is basically a build your own portmanteau creature hybrid of sorts. Besides the hijinks of a family Zoom/FaceTime shenanigans of trying to draw Underworld Princess Dragonfly Beaver Narwhals, the game really sent creative feels through the roof for prompts of ideas (Not that many of you probably need inspiration from Octrabarays or Stegabeavasauruses). We began naming our createuers and coming up with really silly stories for family time.
Basically, it is three creatures (small, medium, large) mixed with a detail and then a habitat. So, caterpillar, fox, grizzly bear with horns in a circus might be the prompt. You then pick what inspires you from those things to create your Zorrosopillar.
I have no clue. Maybe you all already have stuff like this. Maybe you are mixed media artists using modge-podge, chicken-wire, and gears to replicate Canard Digérateur at home. Maybe you look at art supplies and what to cry. I have no clue if this is really available since the kickstarter for it ended years ago. The Bezos Distribution Center said currently unavailable, but that could be because of the holidays.
Did you receive or get something for yourself that really sparked the inspiration/creative you this season that you feel like sharing?
Lewis Carroll gave that as an example for portmanteau building in the preface to "The Hunting of the Snark".
Came across it when watching Brooklyn 99 -S5 ep15 - The Puzzle Master
There's a pretty suburb near my city called Kalorama which I heard means "good view" in Greek.
There's panorama (πανόραμα) so I'd assume it would be spelled καλόραμα, but our buddy google says it's not a real word. Does that make the hilly leafy suburb of Kalorama a Greek portmanteau?
For instance ‘Stan’, taken from Eminem’s song, has taken on a new meaning to refer to a ‘stalker fan’. Since a portmanteau is a new word created from two or more, I was wondering if there was a specific term to label the opposite process.
PLEASE make it so we can have more slots in the portmanteau vault! I would LOVE 10 more slots so I could grab all the red and white eggs to prestige over time!
The first definition that came up was a piece of furniture and I was very confused lol. Then saw the explanation of it meaning 2 words combined together. This post is really just a love letter to the unabashed nerdiness of tangents and how I learn new stuff every episode. 💕
I can't count how many times I've accidentally tapped a brilliant portmanteau, or accidentally hit the brew button on a potion.
I accidently picked up an extra brilliant portmanteau this morning while picking up spell energy on the map. It will bug me having an extra squid tentacle on my page, but I really don't want to unlock another 4 portkeys to set it back to zero. I really wish I could just delete it!
