The snow may be melting, but it is leaving pollution behind in the form of micro- and nano-plastics, according to a new study. The pollution is largely due to the relatively soluble plastics found in antifreeze products (polyethylene glycols) that can become airborne and picked up by the snow. mcgill.ca/newsroom/channe…

Recover Polyethylene Glycol from Aqueous Solution

Chemistry newb question, so please excuse any basic errors. What would be the simplest way to recover (separate / extract) Polyethylene Glycol (PEG 1450) from water? Passing it thru the right size micron filter, perhaps? Changing the ph of the solution?

Good inner sleeves? Polypropylene VS polyethylene.

A simple question, right? My record collection is growing and I've bought some outer sleeves for them but still using the inner sleeves that they came with (some with printed lyrics, some plain paper). I've heard that paper inner sleeves aren't good for the records and I want to replace them. And, yes, I know that MoFi sleeves are great, but I just can't afford them. So I'm thinking about buying poly-lined paper sleeves. Are they good enough? What's the best type of plastic (PE/PP)? I know that you shouldn't use PVC since it can damage the records. What inner sleeves are you using and should I buy poly-lined paper sleeves? I want to care for my record collection and treat them the best I can.

Feel free to give me your opinion, much appreciated! And if you've read all this - have a really amazing day!

Anyone have experience with a β€œLifetime” brand polyethylene 7x7 shed?

I’ve been looking to get a shed for my backyard. The thing is I rent and when I eventually move in a few years, I don’t want to leave a $1000 shed behind.

Does anyone know if a shed like this can be disassembled and moved?

Thanks for any advice.

My mom is allergic to the polyethylene glycol in the COVID vaccine. What are her options?

Hi all. My mom had an allergic reaction this summer to a cortisone shot that had her hospitalized. She couldn't figure out what was in the injection that caused this, but today she found out it's polyethylene glycol.

She spoke with her allergist and he said it was important to test out all of these potential allergies because it might affect her eligibility for the COVID Vaccine. Turns out she is allergic to polyethylene glycol.

What would her options be for this situation? She has expressed fear that she will not be able to get any of the COVID vaccines that are available.

Local Plastic Supplier Acrylic/Polyethylene

Does anyone know a good local place to get plastic piping? I need a clear plastic pipe that is 8" in diameter. Online is mostly USA based stores and the costs are crazy high.

Local hardware stores don't seem to carry clear plastic pipe at such a diameter.

Thanks if anyone has any ideas!

This is Polyethylene Oxide, which is also called "the liquid that spills itself". This happens because Polyethylene Oxide is a polymer, that is composed of especially long molecular chains that are tangled. That is why, once the liquid starts to drain, it "pulls" the rest of the material. gfycat.com/gravepeskycygn…

Using PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) plastic to scratch build parts, will it work?

Hi everyone, I have recently been working on a little project (AV8 Harrier Italeri) and have noticed that one of the pieces I require is not included with the kit, but instead a diagram is included of how to scratch build this piece. I have no offcuts or sprue bits which would be suitable to craft into this shape, however I do have a single use water bottle which I have managed to cut to the right shape and size. What I want to know is, will this work long term? From my little tests here the cut plastic bits appear to bond with the model and seem to not have issues with primer being applied. Any feedback from someone with more experience than me, or someone who has tried this before would be massively appreciated.

Thanks
