I think you'd be surprised how closely we all agree on the topic of vaccination, unfortunately and ironically some extreme anti and pro vaxxers have managed to divide and polarize those who hold beliefs closest to eachother. (6 question poll)

I want to show using some questions, how we all probably agree much more than it seems, whether on the fence, anti, or pro vaccine. So if you could just put (Question #) [Answer] for these simple yes no questions I think it could really help us to be more efficient whatever our views. There will be some anti sided questions and some pro sided questions so it's fair.

  1. Vaccines should not be treated through a black and white lens, pro or anti vaccine. Not ALL vaccines are on equal grounds, you cannot say vaccines are ALL bad, or ALL good. It doesn't make sense to say, vaccines bad, or good, because a vaccine is not an individual object you can actually describe, it's a TYPE of object. Imagine a doctor gives you a smallpox vaccine from 1770 that has 1/10 risk of death and says ''You said you are okay with being vaccinated'', you would say... ''yeah but i didn't say WHICH vaccine!'': Yes or no?

  2. It's at least slightly concerning that vaccines are designed and utilized by some of the most corrupt companies on the planet: Yes or no?

  3. For the most part, anti or pro vaccine, intentions are not in bad faith, and are just because one thinks their view is what's best for our health or children: Yes or no?

  4. -Plently of anti vaxxers are otherwise very pro medicine/science and have no interest in homeopathy, crystals, magic, illuminati conspiracy theories and woo

-Plenty of pro vaxxers are otherwise very conservative, pro freedom, pro choice and pro democracy: Yes or no?

  1. Vaccines have saved millions of people since the mid 18th century, but have also hurt and injured some along the way, partly in technological infancy (like the first vaccines were easily half as fatal as the disease it's self) and just by nature of what a vaccine is, it's inherently risky at least at some level (it's written by supreme court that they are unavoidably risky). Yes or no?

  2. No one really knows for sure how vaccines could affect human biology over the course of hundreds and thousands of years to come, especially considering the billions of years we've lived without them (vaccines are BRAND NEW to our bodies evolutionarily speaking), so long term effects are unknown and we should think about the future not just the present: Yes or no?

Reddit likes to polarize between the sexes, and it's honestly disturbing

This is going to be a generalization and I apologize in advance. I'm not going to name the subs, but just browsing reddit today there were serious convos of "women just ignore this about what men go through..." and "men always have to hate on this about women..."

And my first reaction was "holy shit".

It's a human condition people. EVERYONE can be an asshole. It's not just a gender thing. Maybe that's from personal experience but, while that's valid, MY personal experience is that both sexes can be assholes. Regardless of age, race, religion, or economic background - crazy enough - as well.

I know there's a lot of holes in my argument, and I started off with a generalization - I GET IT - but this is true off my chest. Holy shit, stop blaming a group of people for your problems instead of the person that did you wrong.

I can’t imagine that ALL brands should take a stand - it can alienate people. What brands should take a stand? What brands shouldn’t take a stand?

And what brands do you think have taken a stand and gotten it right? (Perhaps Nike’s ad campaign on Colin Kaepernick?)

Affirmative action is a complex issue but the discussion about it feels designed to polarize, frustrate, and prevent actual understanding

This is an issue that has been coming up more and more as California has a ballot initiative to reintroduce affirmative action in universities. But it seems like there's no way to talk about it without someone jumping down your throat. If you're against it, you're racist. If you're for it, you're also racist. This is complicated, and forces you to examine what the role of public education is actually supposed to be.

But no, every anti AA argument has the same out-of-context MLK quote about the color of their skin vs the content of their character. While you can't say what MLK would have supported if he were alive today, in the 60s he wanted special compensation for Black people based on race as part of a program to help all poor people regardless of race. Racism still happens regardless of class and the whole argument for AA is that it's meant to correct for racism that has effects today. Even Obama was followed around in stores and treated as a potential criminal until he became a Senator.

Every pro AA argument I see is about how we need to combat systemic racism. I agree. But is AA the way to do so in the context of 21st century California vs the 1960s? And particularly as an Asian American, I'm tired of the argument that you're racist if you don't support a policy that might harm you even as a minority group. Why does it have to be framed in such terms of taking from one minority to give to another? That's a real concern on the anti side, and I've never really seen it addressed.

How often do people actually support their arguments based on actual admission statistics and try to approach the other side with some charity and attempt at understanding? It leads to arguments that are both needlessly heated but also completely sterile as long as all sides are talking past each other instead of trying to resolve the problem. Is this how American politics is just gonna be from now on? I just feel angry and frustrated every time I have to hear about this shit.

BTW I'm not looking for a debate in the comments

Did the engineers of the future forget how to polarize glass?

The glare from the sun in this game is absurdly obtrusive; especially when flying around an asteroid field. Combined with the scratches, smudges, and dirt covering the windows of certain ships (ie: Freelancer), this makes navigation rage-inducingly difficult. Would like to see the glare effect of the sun dramatically reduced, or altogether eliminated, when viewing it through the windows of our ships.

Also: Wash the windows, already. Why are they even dirty, to begin with? There's no need to introduce "realistic" smudging of the windows, if there aren't any realistic means to clean them.

EDIT: So I don't repeat myself in my replies, I'd just like to point out that the whole purpose of transparent glass, isn't to see the glass, it's to see THROUGH the glass. Nobody admires the details in a windshield, when they buy a new car. We want our glass to be as invisible as possible. There's no immersion value in having scuffed, dirty glass. The abundance of oxygen inside the ship is a dead give away, that the glass is intact. Someone said CIG wants the glass to have visual weight. Why?

[Discussion] I enjoy attack aircraft but feel like the mission objectives in EC purposefully polarize game-play to benefit the extremes of fighters & bombers.

I struggle a lot with loving attack aircraft like the AM-1 Mauler, and at the same time feeling like I'm not significantly advancing my team's chances of winning when I don't opt for the fastest fighter, or heaviest bomber. The mission objectives, and how points are rewarded, seem to push game play styles to the extremes of using the deadliest fighter, or the B-29 style long-range bomber. Everyone in between those extremes isn't carrying their weight quite as much. And if you purposefully pick something in the middle well...I can't help but feel selfish even though it's what I enjoy the most.

The one objective I feel is well-suited for this type of plane is the "Destroy the Enemy Convoy" mission. However, even in a full 3-hour EC match, that mission might only come up 2-4 times which doesn't particularly move the needle. Yes, picking off other environment AA and tanks helps in between, but you're far more likely to be downed by a fighter passing through the same area than you are to really make significant impact on your team's score between the convoy objective proc'ing.

Wishing death upon the children of anti-vaxx parents is cruel and unfair, polarizes fringe groups, and hurts the immunocompromised

I'm very much pro-vaccinations. I've never missed a single shot. I'm firmly rooted in science. I believe anti-vaxxers are absolutely ignorant, but please leave their children out of this.

Yes, children who lack their vaccinations are at an evolutionary disadvantage and are more likely to die, but why wish that upon them? They didn't get to make their choice -- their batshit parents did. Being upset that such a child becomes an ideal vector for viral mutation is perfectly valid -- it's a worthy point of criticism -- but why should they suffer your scorn for a choice they didn't make? And what message are you sending to your opposition when death of their loved ones is your negotiating tactic?

Furthermore, are you also willing to wish death upon the immunocompromised, who cannot receive vaccinations out of health risks? This category also poses a health risk to the general population, but we shelter them. In essence, this group also cannot choose to get vaccinated. Should we shun and tease this group with death as well?

Don't come at me with any "I've never seen death wished upon anti-vaxx kids" shit either. Those sorts of comments and posts are gilded and make r/all on a routine basis.

  4. Plently of anti vaxxers are otherwise very pro medicine/science and have no interest in homeopathy, crystals, magic, illuminati conspiracy theories and woo: Yes or no?
  5. Yes or no?
