I know that Planet Fitness gets a bad wrap but I have to thank their "Fitness Instructor" at the one I went to.
A little background:
I use the gym at work to do Simple Fit. Unfortunately, work was renovating the gym last week and I didn't exactly have a place to do my pull-ups.
For $10 I was able to get in to their gym for a month without having to sign a freaking contract (as I was only going to use it for a week or two).
I was getting towards the end of my workout (Endurance) so I was really starting to work for those push-ups. Apparently, I let out too many "grunts and panting" for a woman on a treadmill and she complained to the Fitness Instructor.
The Fitness Instructor (James) came over and said that the woman complained that I was making too much noise. He looked at her, gave her the thumbs up. He turned back to me and said "give me five minutes, and then continue working out."
Pretty close to five minutes the woman finishes working out, smiles smugly at me and walks away leaving her treadmill area a disaster area. The Fitness Instructor catches up with her and talks with her. She starts arguing with him and he escorts her to the front desk where the argument continues with the clerk at the front.
The instructor walks back to me and said he understood where I'm coming from and that he has no problem with the way I'm working out. He had been looking for a reason to kick that woman out for several weeks. Apparently she never wipes down her equipment, talks incessantly to other members (despite their ignoring her) and leaves empty water bottles and towels laying around. He used her run-in with me to show his manager that she was interrupting other members workouts (which is true) and had apparently pointed me just sitting there looking chastised waiting for her to finish.
He thanked me by offering me another month of membership for free (no that I really need it).
Iβd like to join a gym but I donβt have a lot of expendable income. I know there are much better places but Planet Fitness fits my budget. Iβm right in between both of them. They both have mixed reviews. Any insight would be appreciated! π€
Apparently they have this idea in their head that antifa is going to try and counter-protest them and theyβre βreadyβ. These guys really have nothing better to do lmao. We already got accused of being antifa because we were filming and one of us was wearing black...
didn't know where to post this, other than here, where others would feel this as intimately as i do.
I POLITELY asked a member in the free weights section at PF to put on their mask. I personally don't like to "tattle" and figured I would ask directly, before taking it to management. This is how the conversation went.
I tell management, who happens to be a really buff POC, who walks over and starts talking to him. I'm shook, and take a bathroom break to collect myself. I don't want to be there for this. I walk back over to the weight area after, and that guy is still there. I tell myself I'm not going to let him bully me out of a place where I have every right to be. I continue my workout in the free weights section.
He continues glaring at me through the mirror, and across the gym. I used the bathroom again to wash my hands, and I could see he was keeping track of where I was.
On my way out, I checked to make sure he was in the gym and not waiting for me outside. I was legit scared, given all of the horrible, violent crimes that have been occurring throughout the nation. I stop to ask the manager on my way out about this guy. He looked at me annoyed, since he was in a meeting, and I could hear a video going on in the background of his laptop. He says he's keeping an eye on that guy, and that another offense will cause him to be

I swear I saw a post on here maybe a year ago or more, with the full Bootyful Beginnings routine with the Planet Fitness machines/modifications. But now I canβt find it at all. Even on Google I really couldnβt find much info about doing SC at PF. Does anyone have suggestions for modifications (or know the post Iβm talking about)?
His point of going there is the cheap membership cost and that it has all of the equipment we're gonna need. But I've never heard anything positive about PF. I asked one of my friends about it who regulars gyms and he says PF sets you up to fail. Could I ignore that and just focus on my workout? Sure.
However another friend of mine recommended a Snap Fitness in town. The rate is $30/mo, but after checking all of the smaller gyms nearby, a lot of them have rates like $75/mo or $110/mo (or more), it's ridiculous. I, personally, would probably rather go to the Snap Fitness despite the extra cost per month, especially since it's much higher rated than the local PF.
So pretty much these are my two choices. I really don't want to work out alone. In the past going solo has led to me giving up, but I do much more when I'm with someone. How else might I convince him? Not that I will be able to, though.
as the title says, this happened to me yesterday, and i'm still shook from the confrontation. i've spent all night and this morning trying to advocate for myself, despite being emotionally spent. i'm so sick and tired of big companies like PF who have only used the violent, racist crimes occurring across this nation as a marketing opportunity.
their advocacy is empty. they need to be held accountable.
i was unsure of posting here because college subreddits have such a different vibe, but given the anti asian hate rally that happened last week, i'm hoping there is a community out here to which this applies. i was hoping there would be allies to help me in this, but that has yet to be seen. i'm by myself, and if you are a strong advocate, please reach out. i would appreciate the support.
thank you for reading.
Hi guys, this is my first post here. Been lurking around here since I knew I'd be living out of my car for the foreseeable future. Saw a lot of people recommend going to a gym as it helps with mental health and most have showers onsite for members.
I ended up going to planet fitness today. While I'm confident enough most of the time, I get fairly anxious trying to do new things. Managed to work through it, worked out for about 30 minutes and got to take a shower before an interview for a job later today! All-in-all, I'm in pretty high spirits after it.
Highly recommend stopping at a planet fitness and using the free day pass (usable once every 3mo I think) if you are able to. I personally will probably be signing up for their membership if I get this job.
I went to Planet Fitness yesterday, as I've been doing for the past week now that I'm fully vaccinated. I'm just trying to get in tune with my music, using headphones of course, while at the bench press when a few people give me weird looks while walking by. I'm 4 reps into my second set when someone, who I assume is the manager, comes over and tells me that I need to leave. Confused, I ask him why and he said it's because I'm making the other customers feel uncomfortable. I'm still not quite understanding at this point and I worry that I may have been slamming my weights since I was paying so much attention to my music that I may have been loud. I start to explain myself saying that I'm genuinely sorry if I slammed my weights and I promise I'll be more considerate, but to please let me finish my routine.
He stops me right as I'm asking to finish my routine and says "this isn't about that, this about you being perverted". I am completely taken back by this one because since I walked I had simply scanned my card and started working out with nothing else in between. I say, somewhat offended, "how am I being perverted?" and he gestures to my groin as he says "I can see your erection right now".
Now, I am a pretty well endowed man, I'm about 8-9 inches flaccid depending on blood flow and a complete shower and nongrower. This isn't the first time I have had this problem so I where tight athletic underwear under sweatpants to try and hide it as best I can, but appearantly that's not good enough. I'm extremely embarrassed as soon as he says this and my body goes completely red as he continues to say that I am around families and children and I'm honestly on the verge of tears because I just want to do my set, but even walking out feels like a walk of shame.
I try to explain to him the situation and he is having absolutely none of it, acting like I'm some exhibitionist wanting everyone in my private business. I don't know what to say anymore and I'm lost for words so I just get up to go get my stuff before I break down or lash out and he follows me asking where I'm going and I tell him I'm going to go get my stuff. He stops me and tells me that I'm "leaving right now and you can come back for your stuff when you're less 'excited'."
I want to argue but I don't want to make a scene, so I walk out without any further question. I feel like I'm going to vomit from the nerves but I try my best to compose myself. I don't have many friends in
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm thinking about canceling my membership at PF. I'm paying almost $25/month (black card membership), and I feel like I'm not getting the service that's worth paying for. They have a very limited space for weight lifting, and it's always crowded to a point that I give up and just hop on a treadmill.
Is Pohl Recreational Center any better? And is it free for all students?

I am frustrated, sick, and tired of dealing with this issue.
In October 2019, I badly damaged my ankle and was on a hospital bed in my living room until February 2020 because I was not allowed any weight-bearing. I contacted Planet Fitness, Abbotsford branch, and asked that my membership be canceled. This was not done.
Then as of March 2020, we faced COVID-19, and again I was unable to take advantage of my membership. I was under the belief that my membership had been canceled per my request in October 2019.
Since that time, I have frequently contacted the club in Abbotsford asking for the membership to be canceled and for a refund of all dues charged to me since October 2019.
I am a 70-year-old senior on a limited income and cannot ford $30/month PLUS an annual fee for something that I can no longer do. It makes no sense.
Living alone, as an immune-compromised person, I am allowed 2 people in my bubble. My groceries are delivered. My medication is delivered. My specialist appointments are via video chat or telephone call.
Yet, you require me to come in person to cancel my membership⦠or to go out to a post office to send you a registered letter. You will not accept an email that would have a handwritten signature. No concession has been made for members to cancel in any other manner due to the unprecedented COVID-19 restrictions. This is absolutely ridiculous! Other businesses have gone out of their way to accommodate their clients and perpetuate positive customer relations.
I realize times are hard for local businesses due to the restrictions, but if Planet Fitness depends on my money to keep going, it should not be in business at all. The last time I called, I was told I could not speak to the manager, but a hold was placed on my membership. This month, again, I have been charged.
Members sign in with their keys to access the gym. A review of my activity since October 2019 will show that I have not been in attendance. I want my membership to be canceled, and a refund of all has been taken from me.
I understand that legally Planet Fitness can continue to charge my membership until I die. However, I would hope the franchise owners have morals and integrity.

I'm an IU alumni (class of 2014) who lives and works here in town. When I was a student, I loved using the two gyms at IU and attended them regularly. Now that I'm out of school, I run regularly, but can't afford a weight set at home. All of the private gyms in town are a bit pricey, so I've been a member of Planet Fitness since 2015. I'm enough of regular that for a long time knew what times of day or months would be busy and avoid them. The past year though, something has changed.
It seems to be suddenly used extensively by numerous IU students. Why? You have a NICE gym facility. For only $60 a semester. Why are you all using the sparse local Planet Fitness? It seems that the only time the Planet Fitness weight equipment is available, is between 2-6 in the morning, which isn't feasible for me as I have to be at work at 8 in the morning.
Locals, is there a gym here in town that has a membership under $40 a month?
No me cobraron nada. Sacare otra pronto.
Si les importa un negocio honrado que respeta al cliente no se suscriban a Planet Fitness.
I tried googling it and all I get is "Temporarily closed."
This commercial has me to a boiling point. I'm sick of hearing the same shitty jingle and promotion every commerical break. Another song ruined by a shitty marketing team. Also, the fact that at the end, you hear the phrase "America, your fitness is essential" making entitled assholes more entitled
