Question of the day: how are you?
TLDR at the bottom...
So I’ve just recently been through a really messy breakup and I’m trying to navigate singledom.
I’ve been watching too many TV shows where there’s a single woman in a group of friends who’s always third wheeling a couple, starts questioning her life as a single (and successful) woman, and then ends up with Mr. Right in the end.
This is depressing me beyond words. It’s almost like a woman can’t build a life of her own without a man, even though she’s successful in her career, has awesome friends, etc.
I’m sick of all that! I want a really good book about a woman who doesn’t give a darn about being single and is living a good a life!
I don’t care what genre (although it’d be nice if it’s comedy... i could use a little humor in my life rn), as long as it’s about a woman who doesn’t ever question herself for being single and doesn’t end up with a MAN.
Rant over. Thanks for listening.
TLDR I just went through a really rough breakup so I need a book (preferably... keep reading on reddit ➡

Yesterday I logged off work at like 1:45 pm and I went to the cabinet for my mid-day, "I'm stoned but wanna be caffeinated" brew.
FUCK. I was out.
Now, I've been a good boy during the pandemic: I wear my mask, I only go out for essentials, and I only go to the grocery store once every two weeks.
And, tbh, I'd been wanting to find new coffee for a while - I currently use a subscription service through Amazon, but like the last thing I want to do is give Bezos more bucks.
Someone a long time ago told me about a local roaster, Pine State Coffee, and that their coffee was bold to the end of the pot.
I looked it up and saw they closed at 2. Can't drive, too late to ask for a delivery = no coffee. GOD DAMMIT
So, I did what any other entitled Gen-Zer would do: I sent them a quick email and asked "hey would y'all be willing to deliver today still? I know it's late.."
but y'all these mfers replied happily within a few minutes saying they'd be at my house with some delicious grou... keep reading on reddit ➡
"Let me tell you something Luke, if you ride like lightning, you're gonna crash like thunder."
I'm gonna start off by saying that I've seen a lot of movies in the past, but there were very few films that made me feel this way emotionally like this one did. The trailer made it feel like this was some sort of robbery heist film, but the movie told something different. Something very very different. Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's the really beautiful cinematography in this film, maybe it's that amazing soundtrack, or the multiple character arcs. Maybe it's all of them.
It was tough growing up without a father. I really connected with the characters in this film, especially Jason. I know what it's like losing a dad. My dad died when I was young, and I know that all too familiar feeling of emptiness when you realize there's this something in your life that you're never gonna experience. My dad wasn't always a saint, that's what my mom said at least. But I've heard stories from my un... keep reading on reddit ➡
Seemed like some people liked my story in a comment thread thought I’d share it as a post. So I seen a dude at a wawa one night in the pine barrens of NJ it was around 11:30 and wawas are open 24 hours here walking in I noticed like 3 employees behind the deli huddled up and talking about something, I go to order my hoagie and hear one of them say, “I’ve never seen that one” and another say “he’s not like the other ones” I assume they’re talking about a local drunk/ or maybe one of the recluse drug addicts.. I’m sure they’ve seen some shit down here in the pines, especially a wawa in the middle of the night is quite the place for out of this world encounters if you know what I mean. If you don’t know what wawa is, think of a 7-11 with a good not great but good deli. You order your food on a touch screen now but you used to have to ask for your hoagie and they’d write it down. I couldn’t even imagine them doing that now, you couldn’t even believe how many customers they get a day. But... keep reading on reddit ➡

I just read an article about completely unexplained mounds on the Isle of Pines that have defied explanation after having been excavated and I thought you might appreciate the share.
To summarise, the Isle of Pines is in the region of New Caledonia in the south Pacific. It has more than 400 mounds or tumuli on it that appear to be manmade and containing concrete and iron structures that appear to predate the use or existence of concrete anywhere else in the world.
The tumuli were first noted by visiting Europeans in the early 19th century at which point they were informed that they predated the indigenous Kanak civilisation who had inhabited the islands since approximately 1350 but the first excavations didn't take place until 1959. At this point it was noted that the tumuli contain large "high-grade concrete" blocks with a cylindrical opening. Various other structures have been discovered below thi... keep reading on reddit ➡
Hello lovely people! I finally learned how to craft Pine Bonsai Tree, if you would like one, please comment with your favourite villager, and I will randomly pick three people to receive a tree! (I do not have enough pine cones for more sadly!) If you have pinecones I can craft them for you! (It takes eight) Thank you!
Edit: The winners have been picked via Google‘s random number generator! Thanks to u/veeeeb ‚s generous donation of a whole stack of pinecones I was able to craft seven trees to give away! Thank you so much for telling me your favourite villagers! I wish I could craft more bonsais, as soon as I have more pinecones I will return to this thread to give one to everyone who commented!
What I mean by directly over is that you are not using a pan or pot but the meat or whatever is right over the flames. The oils from these types of woods make meat taste rancid and inedible.
Pine is great to use when starting a fire because its so full of oil it gets going easier than other woods. You can start the fire with pine but make sure that you switch to another type of wood before cooking directly over the flames and check that the initial pieces of pine have all turned to coal.
Someone pointed out below that you can burn the pine down to charcoal and cook over that if no other wood is available or is too cumbersome to get. More in the comments.
Examples of Resinous and Non:
Resinous: Pine, cedar, spruce are the main ones I can think of in the US. You can also tell a tree is resinous if there is dried/wet sap in the damaged spots on the bark. Also resinous trees tend to have strong odors in the wood that remain long after its been dried out. (Not always the case! Check... keep reading on reddit ➡
