I have a really bad acne problem right now (pimples all over me, including the back, my hands, and my whole face). But when my mom comes back from work, the first thing she does is sit next to me and start popping my pimples on my face, and it's ENDLESS. My mom then gets sad for not letting her pop my other pimples too.
She does "popping sessions" very frequently, usually it's 3 a day, one when she comes back from work, one when I am in bed and trying to sleep, and another in a random time. This results in about 10 popped pimples a day.
She keeps being super sad that I cannot let her pop them again, and she keeps telling me to come and get them popped. It's frustrating for me and also painful.
WIBTA if I just tell her to never pop my pimples?
TL;DR: My mom loves popping a lot of my pimples that it's become a daily routine. WIBTA if I tell her to stop?
This whole cycle of binge eating, pimples and all that starts before my period and during my period is just exhausting, awful, annoying, so frustrating. And the long a**recovery for two weeks after for it to start again is just annoying. I have experienced it before but itโs extremely bothering me now (22) and I canโt seem to get my way around it or feel better.
I've seen this a lot and it definitely has been bothering me a bit. Many posts are flaired or titled as ingrown hairs (my favorites) that aren't actually ingrown hairs. Its one thing if the hair is deep and you can't actually get it out or see it yet (which honestly arguably should just be flaired pimple, but I'm not as strongly tied to that and understand if you disagree), but if you can see the hair in its entirety sticking out before the pop and it looks the same after it isnt an ingrown hair, its just a pimple around a hair follicle. (My exact terminology here might be off, but I definitely isn't an ingrown)
I know it can cause scars but I think itโs gross when I see someone with a white head that should have been popped days ago.
Iโve had a decent amount of acne throughout my life and I sometimes get excited to pop a big one emerging. I find it extremely satisfying when you get a good pop that hits the mirror allowing you to analyze the puss. This is probably why I canโt stand to see white heads on other people lol
sorry for formatting iโm on a phone :p
Iโve read through similar threads but I didnโt really gain much. I read that using an alcohol free toner like Thayerโs Witch hazel can be good for my type of skin, I have some of the lavender variation on hand so I spritzed some on my face. Weโll see if it breaks me out or not ugh. Iโve probably spent thousands on skincare and everything breaks me out. If I use nothing, my skin doesnโt break out. I went on Accutane to fix my acne about 6 months ago but I was unable to complete my full course because of COVID and the annoying monthly blood pregnancy test... ugh
My routine:
Garnier pink cap micellar water on a cotton pad 2x a day thatโs it
No acne if I just use that
Thereโs a lot more, because acne and skincare has been a concern since I was a teenager... Off the top of my head, hereโs a glimpse into all the products I have tried, in the past 6 or so months, all of which left me with CCs or cystic pimples:
-Hado Labo plumping gel -Cerave in the tub -Cerave AM -Cerave PM -Neutrogena hydroboost -Simple moisturizer -Oils or anything containing oils (these are the WORST culprits)
My skin is so dry. Iโm only 20 and I like the effects of using a moisturizer because it gets rid of the fine line I have on my forehead from raising my eyebrows and it makes me look not dead. Idk what to do. Please feel free to ask questions because Iโm not sure what information to provide or where to go from here. Iโd like for seeing a dermatologist again to be the last resort as covid is getting really bad here, Iโve been working the whole pandemic to keep myself and my business afloat so I have 0 time to see a dermatologist right now.
edit: i drink a lot of water :( itโs the only thing i drink besides coffee in the morning, as i donโt like soda or any other beverage besides tea. my acne is triggered by products, not limited to just moisturizer. cleansers, makeup, toner, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide specifically trigger acne. i donโt have an acne problem at all if i use nothing or just the micellar water. when i use nothing, my skin texture isnโt so nice and i get oily but still dry. the micellar water is a step up from that because it cleanses a lil bit so my skin is smooth and it doesnโt get an oily residue after a long day. so i am not looking to try differin or a retinoid. accutane worked for me fairly quickly and idk if i would even need a second dose, even though i had to stop early. acne isnโt my problem, itโs finding produc
... keep reading on reddit โกIโve recently noticed that my pimples scar more when I just leave it (donโt pop it) compared to when I pop.
When i pop a pimple I do it carefully and i just get the puss out and maybe a little blood, and it just forms a tiny bump with a tiny scab which falls off in a day or two.
when I leave a pimple it gets bigger and bigger until at one point it pops naturally (while sleeping or showering) and leaves a much larger scar.
any advice on what I should do? The kinds of pimple I get are just red dots at first which develop over a day or two and become whiteheads. Thanks.
So Iโve got some pimple patches to help with my hormonal acne, mainly the ones that come up as big sore whiteheads. I honestly mainly want the benefit of not being able to pick them but also hope they can reduce scarring.
Advice seems to be that you cleanse, dry, apply the patch and then get on with your routine. But how do I stop all my other products (toner, essence and moisturiser) from soaking the patch off? I can see me easily slipping and letting product get to the edges of the patch, which will surely stop it adhering properly.
So I have a possibly very stupid question. Do you guys cleanse, do your skincare, then wipe product away from the spot area specifically and apply the patch, or put the patch on and then apply product VERY carefully to the rest of your face?
Edit: thank you for the advice last night! I followed the box instructions echoed here to cleanse, dry the area and then apply the dot and hold it on to help it adhere. The dots then help up against toner, essence, moisturiser and even a little Rosehip oil I patted on (carefully). Really impressed with the dots for spots so far!
Obligatory โthis happened a month agoโ; I couldnโt have possibly know what a mistake I had made in the moment.
It was Tuesday and I was going about my business when I noticed a very small soreness on the inside (but not in the canal) of my left ear. I went to touch it and noticed a bump: very obviously a pimple. Iโm a bit of a popaholic, so I spent a solid 5 minutes trying to squeeze whatever it was out. Eventually I got something out of there, and the area was still a little sore, much like a normal pimple. No problem.
It was Wednesday, and I noticed that the pimple pain hadnโt passed. I went to touch it again (idiot! stop!), and noticed there was still something in there. I played with it some more and got something else out, and the bump felt like it was properly gone. I was pleased with myself.
It was Thursday, and I woke up with a mild ear ache. Okay, thatโs a little weird. The pain seems to be radiating more than it should. Adults donโt get ear infections, right? Also, itโs not like I actually went IN my ear, so I couldnโt have infected the inside of my ear... I go about my day. By the evening, the pain is getting pretty bad. Like, 400mg of Advilโs worth bad. This is definitely an ear infection, and I canโt focus on anything at all. I make an online over-the-phone doctorโs appointment. Going to sleep wasnโt great, I had to sleep on my right ear.
It was Friday morning and I had my phone call with the doctor. I told him I had an ear infection, so he prescribed me ear drops. The pain is pretty horrible now so I run to the pharmacy immediately. Turns out the doctorโs wifi is down, so the pharmacy never got the prescription. I call another doctor and beg for something, ANYTHING to make this pain stop. She prescribed amoxicillin. I go back to the pharmacy and both prescriptions are now available. I started with the ear drops (as instructed by the pharmacist). It didnโt seem to help with the pain at all, so I took a T3. By Friday night Iโm taking two T3s every 5 hours.
Itโs Saturday morning and some very intense pain woke me up, and itโs in BOTH ears now. It was 6am, and I just burst into tears from how much it hurt. Also, I couldnโt hear! I immediately took 2 T3s and my partner looked in my ears. The left ear had sealed itself shut at this point from the swelling and the right ear was right behind it. He took me to the ER. Lucky for me, thereโs a pandemic going on, and I live on an island, so the hospitals are empty. 45 minutes later I had instructi
