PALAU IS SO AWESOME

Just finished Survivor Palau for the first time and...wow. Definitely in my top 3 seasons ever. It was so so amazing.

Going into it I knew the winner, runner up, final 3, and that Steph was the last remaining member of Ulong, but not much else.

I thought the pre merge would be boring with Ulong losing every single challenge, but I wasn’t pleasantly surprised and entertained for the entirety of the pre merge. Angie was robbed.

The merge was somehow even better. Drama came out for every tribal council/moments leading up to it and I loved it.

What was everyone’s opinions on the season??? Where does it rank for you guys??? Also, what is everyone’s opinions on Katie? I loved her but think that may be controversial. Overall thoughts on the season...LET ME KNOW!!!

Palau diving suggestions

I am hoping to go to Palau this summer (covid situation dependent) and am hoping for some community advice. I'd like to do a liveaboard, and am wondering if anyone has experience with any of the operators in the area. I'm seeing that through the PADI site several boats are doing 25% off right now which makes some of these trips a little more affordable. Any tips or suggestions welcome!

I have somewhere in the range of 400 dives and feel comfortable in more advanced diving situations (but non-technical).

I didn't find anything on the internet. Does anyone know if they are really like this ?

What are the biggest differences between Rupert in PI and Tom in Palau, *strictly* in terms of threat level?

I am not saying Rupert and Tom played the same game. I am simply saying that they both dominated physically pre-merge and were super well liked.

If you were on the island, and there were, say, 10 people left, who had the bigger target? Rupert or Tom? This is one of my biggest flaws in Tom’s win, who is one of my favorite winners. He manages to get to the end, and no one can take that away from him. However, he was undoubtedly the biggest threat Survivor has seen in at least 3 seasons. If you think he was a bigger threat than Rupert (which I do, because he was solidly in the numbers, which Rupe was not), then he is probably the biggest survivor threat to date. Regardless of the fact that he got to the end, you cannot deny that being the biggest threat in survivor history by day 25 is not a great strategy. Again, it worked for him and I’m glad it did. I just don’t think sending your threat level through the roof and only being vulnerable at 3 tribal councils all season is the best path to victory. Love to hear your thoughts!

I loved Steph in Palau but she is really rubbing me the wrong way in Guatemala..

By the way, I just finished the episode where Margaret was voted out after Judd had a complete temper tantrum at tribal council. So no spoilers please!

But anywayβ€”Steph was my favorite contestant last season and I was excited to see her back in Guatemala. Yet she is just rubbing me the wrong way this season. I know the season was in 2005, but she’s said the r word at least three times. As a teacher, that just puts me off immediately. She has also described things as β€œgay”. Again, I know this was a β€œdifferent time”, but that doesn’t excuse it for me. Also, she straight up defended Judd (as well as everyone else in that tribal council) who was being so mad and violent and horrible.

It’s not like I hate Steph now, but I’m definitely not rooting for her. Anyone else feel this way when watching Guatemala?

Palau What If - and impact on future seasons

It seemed like the show was gunning for Tom to win that season. If Ian decides to not step off the buoy and wins FTC, would he have been cast as a Villain (for reneging on the initial promise to Tom) or does he replace Tom on the Heroes tribe? (I guess they could still bring Tom back regardless).

Ian being guilted into giving up was because he let it slip that he was thinking of voting for Tom at the previous Tribal, correct?
