Title. Right now, I feel like I'm paying for a "elite tier" on a MMO that is supposed to be free. Theres almost no content that justifies the 10$ season, we are getting some free emote and cosmetic on a battlepass. The seasonal model feels like Fallout 1st (For Fallout 76) or one of those failed mmo's that had to go free to play but has an optional subscription model for "The Whales."
Edit: Just to adress a lot of comments, yeah, lots of big games do this. But Destiny was, until recently, a buy to play game with mtx in the form of the Eververse. We went from Buy to play with paid expansions ( 2 smaller and one bigger a year) to an Eververse that sells Nightfall loot (Scarlet Keep themed gear), now there is a battlepass, 10$ DLC that goes away, and next seasons there will be more Bright Dust costs regarding transmog. The monetizations aren't "changing", they are being pilled on top of each other. Last year they raked in 300 MILLION dollars in micro transactions. Thats two times what th... keep reading on reddit ➡
[Pablo Torre] I'm told that Knicks players and employees are furious that the team hasn't made a public statement about George Floyd. And I just obtained the e-mail that owner Jim Dolan sent to MSG employees today defending the organization's decision to stay silent:

Self post because mods (i don't get how this isn't 'news')
I've seen a lot of posts all over social media condoning rioting and looting in the name of the cause...with the justification its not a big deal because they're covered by insurance, and financial damage doesn't matter in comparison to the broader issue of police injustice.
While property will of course never be as important as a life, the reality isn't really so simple.
It can be extremely difficult for small business owners to recover full damages from insurance. There is tons of paperwork, bureaucracy, and documentation involved...and often the insurance companies fight back on claims to reduce their liabilities. Sometimes owners don't have specific coverage policies that the damage/theft falls under, or theres some hidden exclusion. And given the current situation with so many businesses already struggling, most likely won't have adequate savings to ride it out until they're paid. This will be a death blow to many small businesses across America...along with the livelihoods of t... keep reading on reddit ➡
Hello fellow dota folks (or those who have come from further a field)! I am, like many of you, stuck inside in self isolation trying to stay safe and help keep others safe from this wretched virus.
We should be in Birmingham right now, getting ready for the first day inside a packed arena, celebrating dota along with some epic matches from the best teams in the world. Tomorrow is also the day my esports book is released by Bloomsbury (yes, the Harry Potter people!) titled This is Esports (and how to spell it).
To help celebrate the launch of the book and to help me from going completely nuts stuck inside on my own, I decided to do an AMA, since I havent done one for many, many years.
I'll open it up now and pop back in an hour or so and start picking up on questions and I'll do that for the next 7 hours or so.
So, ASK ME ANYTHING :)
Unashamed book pre-order plug (Paperback, audio and ebook):

My family and I live pretty close to what used to be one of our favorite restaurants. I'd say we have either eaten there or gotten to-go at least every other week for the last few years. We're definitely regulars, and we know the owners and most of the staff.
When the shelter-in-place orders happened in our state, about 2 months ago, the restaurant obviously suffered. They seem to make a good chunk of their money from dine-in and they had to let all of their part-timers go.
After getting a to-go order we realized they had also obviously replaced some of their ingredients for cheaper substitutes. For example, the chicken dish my son usually gets with fresh roasted chicken was obviously frozen chicken breast filets (same size and shape as the ones I get from Costco for our dogs...) We gave them one more try a few weeks later but it was even worse. We haven't been back since and honestly probably won't unless they re-open with their original recipes.
Anyways, a few days ago I ran int... keep reading on reddit ➡
I rescued a fully black German Shepherd mix two months ago, and she's almost 5 months old. I grew up in a household with a lot of smaller dogs (Bichons) and this is the first dog I'm raising on my own. The Bichons I grew up with were definitely not well trained nor socialized, but we never had strangers comment on our dogs' behavior like what I've had with my pup.
Kiwi's a very friendly puppy and she's well-trained with a lot of commands - we're working on leash pulling at the moment. She's good at not tugging when no one is around, but if a runner or biker passes by she'll start to tug and try to run with them (she runs with me sometimes). We just went for a walk this morning where several strangers felt the need to share their opinions about her behavior and it left me feeling both bad about myself in training her and upset that they were so opinionated.
First, a biker was approaching. He was coming fast, so we pulled aside and I had her sit. He gets closer, stops, and goes to fee... keep reading on reddit ➡
As you may know from the tweet on the front page today, Jayson Tatum worked out for the Suns and he and Earl Watson (HC at the time) had mutual interest in him getting drafted to Phoenix. It turns out that Tatum had an excellent workout, per Watson:
> Then the Phoenix Suns coach, Watson had played with or coached some of the best shooters ever: Ray Allen, Kevin Durant, Mike Miller, Damian Lillard and Jason Kapono. Watson had seen them do some incredible things, but he does not recall any workout quite like Jayson Tatum’s pre-draft audition for the Suns. Tatum warmed up with a ballhandling drill, Watson recalled during a phone call Monday afternoon, and then the wing went straight to the corner to shoot 3-pointers. Players normally work their way out to the arc slowly, taking closer shots first. Tatum did not bother. Even without any shots to loosen up, he was already hot.
> “He drilled 40 straight off the first shot,” Watson said. “Forty straight. So I immediately turned t... keep reading on reddit ➡
Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing good!
So recently after all the trouble I had with the vBIOS, I discovered why this GPU could be a bit unstable and got some bluescreens and this might be the fix for it. After I updated the vBIOS it gave me an "auto" overclock but that overclock does not affect only the memory clock but it also aftects your core clock ( the bios was supposed to just change the memory clock ). This was making my system a bit unstable and after I underclocked the core clock it seemed to fix the BsoD's! What I did was underclock it to the normal clock, the one it used to be! ( I checked my card in the MSI website and copied the value of the core clock from there )
So what I did was change the core clock to what it used to be in the boost clock ( in my case in the website of my GPU it says that the core clock was 1620MHz)
When I underclocked to what the core clock used to be, my system had... keep reading on reddit ➡
22/05/2020 - This username /u/MostlyGruntled belonged to my husband Mark. He wrote the story about his friend "David" and a business owner he called "Noisy Gobshite". Mark had been updating the story until he was involved in a car accident in January. At that time he asked me to let everyone know that he was injured and he would update the story when he had recovered. Unfortunately, just over a week after my last comment Mark passed away. Everyone thought he was recovering but without warning he suddenly became unconscious and died very quickly. The staff tried everything they could to save him but he had suffered a "ruptured aorta". They said it had probably been damaged during the accident and isn't uncommon in car crashes. I'm sorry I didn't update this sooner but to be honest I completely forgot about this website. It was only when I came back to read Mark's words again that I saw how many people were waiting for Mark to finish the story. I don't know how many people will see this... keep reading on reddit ➡
