It is 2020, unfortunately. Itβs the day after my two younger sisters and I flew out to Pennsylvania to see my dad, who lives there after getting divorced by my mom for fifteen years of not being a good husband or dad. He lives with his mom, Cranky Grandma, and her devil cat, as well as my amazing aunt and her angel kitten.
Dad gets home from work. βWhereβs Emi?β he asks my Cranky Grandma.
βSheβs in the basement,β Cranky Grandma says, probably throwing in a snide comment or two about the newly-dyed purple hair adorning my head or the leather fingerless gloves that have joined my black wardrobe. βLookinβ for some Christmas ornaments.β
Dad goes down the basement stairs and finds me rummaging through cardboard boxes. βWhat are you looking for?β he says.
βHi, Dad,β I say. βWell, I noticed that you decorated for Christmas, but youβre missing a few things! Where are The Mooses?β
The Mooses are a pair of stuffed mooses that have been put up every Christmas since I can remember. Theyβre brown, about two feet tall, and soft as a marshmallow. Thereβs Mama Moose, who is named Merry, holding Baby Moose, who is named Christmas and is in a red velvet sack reading βMerry Christmasβ on it in gold embroidery. The Mooses always go on the couch to watch over the living room and all the decorations and presents in it while weβre asleep.
The problem with The Mooses is that when my mom divorced Dad, she was so scared of him that she let him have almost everything. This included The Mooses and quite a few more of her treasured ornaments. And since Iβve always been the one to set The Mooses on the couch, that first Christmas with a divorced dad just didnβt feel right without them.
Dad helps me look for The Mooses for awhile. βSorry, sweetie, they must have gotten lost in the move,β he says.
I smile and donβt tell him that I hate being called sweetie. βItβs okay,β I say, and pull out a cardboard box. βHey, look! Itβs your What God Wants For Christmas box! I love that tradition!β
We go set up What God Wants For Christmas in the living room. I say, βI think Iβm going to go take a nap.β
Dad says, βOkay.β
I go upstairs and into my room and shut the door. I walk over to the window seat/storage chest under the window. I open it.
βHello, Mooses,β I say.
The Mooses lay on top of my stuffed animal collection, looking dusty. Several other ornaments I recognize as Momβs are keeping them company. I grin and shut the chest.
It is the day we fly back to my home state. I ha
... keep reading on reddit β‘Bills are paid, I work from home so gas in my car is what it is, I have pancake batter so I can make pancakes for breakfast and lunch, spaghetti sauce and noodles for dinner. Just sucks.
I splurged on the tree, I wanted the tree of my dreams so I didnβt get that one but I got the cheapest one that was close enough. Last year I didnβt bother with a tree because I was broke, lonely, and depressed (first Christmas by myself). With the shit show that is 2020 I didnβt want a repeat of last year.
Just venting.
Edit: thank you all for your support and offers of help. Stimulus check and paycheck hit so Iβm doing fine for now, Iβm sure thereβll be another fire to put out at some point but Iβll weather it when it happens.
Thank you for the awards, Iβve never gotten any and have no idea what to do with them but itβs pretty cool nonetheless!
2021 is here and Iβm hopeful that itβs going to be a better year for everyone
That's it. That's the post.
Edit: If you guys haven't already, make sure you check out u/UrbanMarshmallow's AMAZING (and terrifying) concept.

Surely it wouldn't hurt that much to create an ornament set for each DLC when you guys make em for every event. It would really be a welcome change after the bright dust nerf.
Edit: as u/xRyuuji7 has been commenting the season pass ornament set isn't included as DLC content and you need to pay extra for it. So f2p players do not get the seasonal ornament sets unless they buy the pass. I am not asking for an in-game earnable ornament set each season but one per DLC isn't really that hard, and I quite clearly mentioned "for each DLC".
Iβve gone through so many eververse engrams this season already and I feel like the drop rate for exotic cosmetic stuff is abysmally low. And when I look at all the cool looking weapon ornaments and sparrows/ships that are still out there to obtain, itβs a little disappointing. I think people would enjoy seeing an eververse engram drop more if they knew they had a decent chance at getting something cool from it instead of just some blue ghost projections that I never end up using anyway.
Using warmind.io, we can see that Merry Maker (Monte Carlo ornament) has sold 20,829 and Glee Barrage (Xenophage ornament) has sold 39,887. There's likely some delay on reporting so these may be lower than actual. Each ornament costs 700 silver ($7.00 US) which brings that revenue to $425,012
Let's include the Mirthmobile which has sold 46,205 at 800 silver ($8.00 US) which brought in $369,640
After we add in all the other little purchases that have been made, we can see that this season has been very good to Bungie, raking in over a million in the first 3 days of this event. Here's hoping that those funds are equal to the cost of refreshing core activities =)
I really hope this was a wake-up call.
Firstly, it was 7 AM before the sun came up and spitting rain. You chose to ride with a black helmet, black jacket and dark trousers. Secondly, you chose to completely blow past a "Yield to traffic in roundabout" sign. If I saw you one second later than I did, you would have likely ended up in the hospital or worse.
And thirdly, you had the audacity to flip me the bird and scream bloody murder when I rolled down my window to have a chat with you. Unbelievable.
I drive, ride a motorcycle and ride a bicycle, so I fit into pretty much every category of road user. Assholes like you give all cyclists a bad name. I hope your life insurance policy is up to date if you continue riding like you do.

Iβve been doing this for 20+ years now, and every year is a really nice treat. Lots of fun memories, and a tree filled with really special ornaments.
The total amount of seasonal bright dust that was obtainable through bounties was reduced by about 50%. Hence it isn't fair that the ornament sets still cost as much as they did pre-nerf.

Omar has a tiny hat!
I had all these bad boys during CoO. But came to PC during Warmind. Then a year later you guys did Cross-Save and I've been kicking myself in the teeth ever since.
I was hoping you'd let us combine our Collections but oh well. Can you give us a way to re-earn these? Since CoO you've had tens of thousands of players return and tens of thousands of new players. Not to mention the plethora that likely switched to PC.
They're already in game. Just make them earnable again.
Edit: IB 1
Added some of the IB Ornaments as well that were Y1
Even if its just increasing the amount available each week for Bright Dust in the Eververse, although adding something to a currently jobless vendor such as Ikora would be nice too.

Fine that's four words BUT WHO IS COUNTING?
Anyway. Have you signed up for Secret Santa yet? How about Ornaments? How about Holiday Cards?
A special something for the first 2,000 people who comment...
The fact that armor from 3 years ago is still 1500 silver / 6000 dust blows my mind.
I really want those god damn luxe hunter grips and the omega mechanos cloak. And Iβll pay a tenner for those two but Β£18 or whatever 2k silver costs is insane pricing. Idk what effect this would have on bungies financial situation tho.
